  • 3 fixed Columns (header and footer) using DIVs, NO Absolute DIVs, IE friendly, ALL columns stretch e

    - by Phillip Schein
    Left to right, Col1 id 560px wide with 10 px padding, middle column, 250px wide with 5px padding and Col3 (siderbar) is 200px wide with 3px padding. Background coloR, no matter text length in any column should stretch vertically equal. No javascript (jQuery workarounds) to make it work. It needs to be pure Semantic Markup with CSS. Each Column should have a nested column of color were content will go. Column 1 should be SEO prominant which means the highest nested column for Google and other Search Engines to crawl. I have used 'The Holy Grail" layout, articles at "A List Apart" and these solution are so convoluted that they push the main columns left and than the nested columns push them with padding back right. This is crazy! I try to adjust these examples, but they're not editable by just adjusting a width in the CSS or the padding, etc. Can you please help me?

  • Image input onclick event being fired when enter button Pressed

    - by Anthony
    I have a strange problem where an onclick event on an input image is being fired when i hit enter in input text box <form id="MyForm" action="/someaction"> <input type="image" src="someimage.jpg" onclick="doStuff();$('#MyForm').submit();" /> <input type="text" name="textInput"/> </form> When the cursor is in the text box and i hit enter, rather than the form being submitted it calls the onclick event on the image input. Any ideas whats going on ?

  • Positioning Photos in a Grid (HTML)

    - by Daniel O'Connor
    Hey Everyone, I've been trying to code this page for a while, but my biggest problem is that I can't seem to get the photos perfectly positioned. For some reason, there is a small bottom padding in each <td>which is messing things up. Here is the table code: <table> <tr> <td rowspan="2" style="height:353px;"><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/farm.jpg" height="353" width="470" alt="Farm" /></td> <td><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/paragliding.jpg" height="190" width="254" alt="Paraglider" /></td> <td rowspan="2"><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/cristo.jpg" height="353" width="230" alt="Cristo Redentor" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><img src="danoconnor/img/photography/u2.jpg" height="154" width="254" alt="U2 at Fordham University" /></td> </tr> </table> My question is: how can I make the photogrid look like this? Thanks!

  • sub menu border calls onmouseout event

    - by insanepaul
    I've created a simple menu and submenu with tags(not allowed to use ul elements). To access the submenu the user hovers their mouse over the menu item. I use the onmouseover and onmouseout events to either show or hide the sub menu depending on which item is selected. A pipe (|) is used to seperate each submenu item and this is what is causing me problems. When a user hovers their mouse above the pipe character the subMenu div calls the onmouseout event which is not what I want. So I added padding around the pipe character and a minus margin so that there were no gaps between the pipe character and the other elements. This worked for all browsers including IE8. But in IE7 (I haven't tested IE6 yet) the submenu div calls the onmouseout event when I touch the top bit of either the left or right border of the pipe character span element. <div id="subMenu" onmouseout="hideSubMenu()" > <div id="opinionSubMenu" onmouseover="showOpinionSubMenu()"> <a id="Blogs" href="HTMLNew.htm">BLOGS</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="Comments" href="HTMLNew.htm">COMMENTS</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="Views" href="HTMLNew.htm">VIEWS</a> </div> <div id="learningSubMenu" onmouseover="showLearningSubMenu()"> <a id="Articles" href="HTMLNew.htm">ARTICLES</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="CoursesCases" href="HTMLNew.htm">COURSES & CASES</a> <span class="SubMenuDelimiter">|</span> <a id="PracticeImpact" href="HTMLNew.htm">PRACTICE IMPACT</a> </div> </div> This is my css class #subMenu{ padding:10px 0px; background-color:#F58F2D; font-weight:normal; text-decoration:none; font-family:Lucida Sans Unicode; font-size:14px; float:left; width:100%; display:none;} #Blogs, #Comments, #Views, #Articles { padding:10px 5px; background:none repeat scroll 0 0 transparent; color:#000000; font-weight:normal; text-decoration:none; border:solid 1px black;} #Blogs:hover, #Comments:hover, #Views:hover, #Articles:hover{ color:#ffffff; text-decoration:none;} .SubMenuDelimiter{ padding:10px 5px; margin:10px -5px;}

  • SVG Scaling Text to fit container

  • PHP mailer containing HTML not showing correctly

    - by kielie
    Hi guys, here is some code I've been working on, basically I need to set up a auto e-mail that gets sent to a user after they fill in a form, which at the moment it is doing, but the HTML is not displaying as it should inside of the email client. I checked in Gmail, Outlook and Mac mail and none of them display the HTML correctly. Here is the code <?php session_start(); $_SESSION['name'] = $_POST['name']; $name = $_SESSION['name']; $email_1 = $_POST['email_1']; $email_2 = $_POST['email_2']; $email_3 = $_POST['email_3']; $email_4 = $_POST['email_4']; $id_num = $_POST['id_num']; $tel = $_POST['tel']; $email = $_POST['email']; //sets the current date $curDate = date("Y-m-d"); // Example require_once("mailclass/htmlMimeMail.php"); $mail = new htmlMimeMail(); $mail->setSubject("Your submission to MyWebsite!"); $mail->setFrom("MyWebsite <[email protected]>"); $mail->setFrom("MyWebsite <[email protected]>"); $email_address = $email_1 . "," . $email_2 . "," . $email_3 ."," . $email_4 ; $mail->setBcc($email_address); $day = " <body style="'background: #000000; color: #FFFFFF;'"> <div style="'background-image: url(http://www.website.com/images/mailerbg.jpg); width: 900px; height: 839px; margin: 0 auto;'"> <div style="'width: 620px; height: 280px; position: relative; top: 155px; left: 25px;'"> <h1><br>your friend $name<br><br><br></h1> </div> </div> </body>"; $mail->setHTML($day); $result = $mail->send(array()); ?> The code is pretty messy, from me screwing around with it so much, but basically none of the HTML shows up as it should in the email client once the message arrives at it's destination, how can I get it to display as a proper HTML page inside of the mail client? I am assuming that my escaping is not done correctly, which is why nothing is showing as it should? Thanx in advance!

  • Align child element to bottom with CSS

    - by alex
    I have a form input, and the label spans multiple lines, and I want the corresponding checkbox to appear at the bottom (last line of the label element). Here is what I was playing with CSS .standard-form { width: 500px; border: 1px solid red; } .standard-form .input-row { overflow: hidden; margin-bottom: 0.8em; } .standard-form label { width: 25%; float: left; } .standard-form .input-container { width: 70%; float: right; } .standard-form .checkbox .input-container { display: table-cell; height: 100%; vertical-align: text-bottom; } HTML <form class="standard-form"> <div class="input-row checkbox" id="permission"> <label for="input-permission"> Do I hereby grant you permission to do whatever tasks are neccessary to achieve an ideal outcome? </label> <div class="input-container"> <input type="checkbox" id="input-permission" name="permission" value="true" /> </div> </div> </form> It is also online at JSbin. Is there any way to do this? I notice that div.input-container isn't expanding, which is the old multi column problem with CSS. I thought I could get this going with display: table-cell and vertical-align: bottom but I haven't been able to do it yet. I don't mind that IE6/7 won't render it correctly.
