  • IE Positioning Help.

    I’m currently working on this theme : http://tf.ffffffive.com/fancy/ I just need a few pointers on how to get it working in IE6 and IE7 . -The positioning is a bit off. -If you guys have a helpful blog post of maybe give me a hand with some CSS coding I would really appreciate it. Currently I take the design and "slice" this up into HTML and CSS then I "plug" this into a CMS. I would class this as frontend development depending on the level of customisation required for the CMS.   • Strange offset space between <button> as parent container and <div> as child.

    I need to decorate a standard html button. The base element I took <button> instead of <input>, cos I decided that the element must be a parent container. And there is child element <div> in it. This <div> element will be been the core element for decoration, and should occupy the entire space of the parent element - button. <button> <div>*decoration goes here*</div> </button> And within Cascading Style Sheets it might be looks like this: css button { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; width: *150*px; height: *50*px; position: relative; } div { margin: 0; border: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; background: *black*; position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; } html <button type="button"> <div>*decoration goes here*</div> </button> So, Opera(10) is doing well, webkits Chrome(6) and Safari(4) is doing also well, but Internet Explorer(8) is bad - DOM Inspector shows some strange Offset space in top and left, FireFox(3) is also bad - DOM Inspector shows that <div> get some negative value in css-property right: and bottom:. Even if this property will set to zero(0) DOM-Inspector still shows same negative value. I almost broke my brain. Help me, solve this problem, please!

  • Margin-Top push outer div down

    Hello, I have a header div as the first element in my wrapper div, but when I add a top margin to a h1 inside the header div it pushes the entire header div down. I realize this happens whenever I apply a top margin to the first visible element on a page. Here is a sample of the css.     I need to centre align a horizontal menu. I've tried various solutions, including the mix of inline-block / block / center-align etc., but not being successful.     Does anybody know how to center align a DIV that has the display set to inline-block? I cannot set the display to block because I have a background image that needs to be repeated, and it needs to expand based on the content. It sits inside of a parent div, in which is larger when it comes to width. So all in all. Does anyone have a fix to center align a div with the display set to inline-block?   • View Source and Chrome Developer Tools showing different output

    I have a page located here. Viewing it in Chrome and Firefox show a really small h1 title, and also it changes color as if it is a link. The template that generates everything looks exactly how it should be. When diagnosing the issue, the relevant section of code looks like this when I go to view source: <div class="page-heading"> <h1>Title Here</h1> </div> However, when I go to view it in Chrome's Developer tools, it is throwing in extraneous malformed anchor tags, which is obviously causing the hovering behavior. This is what it looks like to the dev tools: <div class="page-heading"> <h1> <a style="font-family: arial; font-size: 9px" <="" a="">Title Here</a> </h1> </div> In addition, when viewing a local copy of the site, the output shown in the dev tools is the same as viewing the source and they both render correctly locally. Oddly enough, all version of IE render it correctly. The current version of both Chrome and Firefox both render it weirdly. Initially I thought it may be a user agent stylesheet problem, but if anything the CSS is fine, it's the HTML that is malformed.

    Should i keep CSS of home page and landing pages in separate CSS file of big sites. ? If i make site with a 7-8 different templates where 1 templates of home pages 1 is for inner content pages and other template for different type of landing pages. and different style needed for same HTML elements in website , For example : for inner pages H2 has different style but for landing pages H2 is different in color, font -size, line height, top bottom margin How i should manage all this ? any tips to make good,easily manageable, scan-able CSS.
