  I have a cmdline that I'm trying to modify to remove some of the arguments. What makes this complex is that I can have nested arguments. Say that I have this: $cmdline = "-a -xyz -a- -b -xyz -b- -a -xyz -a-" I have three different -xyz flags that are to be interpreted in two different contexts. One is the -a context and the other is the -b context. I want to remove the "a" -xyz's but leave the ones in the "b" -xyz. How can I most effectively do this in Perl?

• How does a youtube embed suppress the buffering of a video file?

  When a youtube video is displayed within an external site, a poster image is displayed but the actual video is not loaded until the user clicks the play button. At that point, the video file begins to buffer and the video plays. This seems to be different than many sites, where a flash video is embedded and the video begins to buffer automatically in the background on page load, regardless of whether the video is set to autoplay or not. How would you set up a flash video (non-youtube) to have the same behavior as youtube, where buffering does not occur at pageload? Is it an output setting that is selected during the flash video rendering process, or is it accomplished using a different method?

• Can nohup change the result of a C++ code?

  I am having this very weird behaviour with a C++ code: It gives me different results when running with and without 'nohup' (reproducible in cygwin and linux). I mean, if I get the same executable and run it like './run' or run it like 'nohup ./run out.log', I get different results! I use std::cout to output to screen, all lines ending with endl; I use ifstream for the input file; I use ofstream for output, all lines ending with endl. I am using g++ 4. Any idea what is going on?

  I have a web site built using asp.net with ugly URLs like /DisplayContent.aspx?id=789564. I know how to migrate the database, but the Wordpress urls will be (naturally) different. Can I simply write some mapping or do I have to include a rewrite rule for each subpage (300 pages) in .htaccess? Should I provide a rewrite rule for each existing page that would transform a full old url to the known new url, like for example: /DisplayContent.aspx?id=789798 -> /2010-5-10/Title-Of-The-Post Even if I manage to migrate the URLs, the structure of the HTML for the new content will naturally be different. How does this affect SEO? Should I run asp.net and wordpress side by side and issue the redirects from the asp.net application? What is the most efficient solution to this kind of migration of URLs without doing PHP programming?

  I want to rewrite URLs so when a user goes to; http://www.example.com/applications/newWeb/www/index.php?page=48&thiscontent=2660&date=2013-10-11&pubType=0&PublishTime=09:30:00&from=home&tabOption=1 and if the URL contains thiscontent=2660 (which in this example above, it does) I want to redirect them to; http://www.example.come/index.php/publications/finance-and-economics/departmental-resources I have about 30 different thiscontent=XXXX types and imagine I’ll have to copy and edit this rule 30 different times for any links to my old website still knocking around out there. I have access to my httpd.conf file but have never done a mod_rewrite before. I also don't really need these showing up in the error logs as 301s. Will that happen? Because at the moment there are hundreds!

• If I'm projecting with linq and not using a range variable what is the proper syntax?

  I have a query that sums and aggregates alot of data something like this: var anonType = from x in collection let value = collection.Where(c=>c.Code == "A") select new { sum = value.Sum(v=>v.Amount) }; I find it really weird that I have to declare the range variable x, especially if I'm not using it. So, am I doing something wrong or is there a different format I should be following? Also, keep in mind that anonType has about 15 different properties that are all types of aggregates (sums,counts, etc). So I couldn't do something like: int x = collection.Where(c=>c.Code == "A").Sum(v=>v.Amount);

• How to identify/handle text file newlines in Java?

  Hi Everyone! I get files in different formats coming from different systems that I need to import into our database. Part of the import process it to check the line length to make sure the format is correct. We seem to be having issues with files coming from UNIX systems where one character is added. I suspect this is due to the return carriage being encoded differently on UNIX and windows platform. Is there a way to detect on which file system a file was created, other than checking the last character on the line? Or maybe a way of reading the files as text and not binary which I suspect is the issue? Thanks Guys !

Inside the table is a notifications_type:string column that contains the type of notification, i.e. "foo" or "bar" or "oof" I want the user to be able to select what notifications they want to display, so there are checkboxes below the result that correspond to prefs_display_foo:boolean, prefs_display_bar:boolean in the User model. What is an elegant way for me to set the :conditions in the find to properly display the sorted results? Also, currently I have it as a method in the user, but how would I do it as a has_many :notifications, :conditions = .....

• New replicaset resident memory is larger than the existing sets

  From the mongodb tutorial of how to resync a set, I wipe all the files in /data/db and restart the mongod process to resync the data. Everything looks ok, I get the same number of documents as the existing two sets(primary and one secondary). However, when I check the memory on MMS. it shows me my new resynced set/mongod process has a different memory status value than the other two. For existing twos using db.serverStatus.mem shows like the following: "mem" : { "bits" : 64, "resident" : 239, "virtual" : 66348, "supported" : true, "mapped" : 32865, "mappedWithJournal" : 65730 } however, the new resynced set shows like: "mem" : { "bits" : 64, "resident" : 1239, "virtual" : 52447, "supported" : true, "mapped" : 25700, "mappedWithJournal" : 51400 } the resynced resident memory is 6-10 times more than the existing ones. I wouder if it is normal because all data comes in suddenly during the resyncing?? and even virtual and mapped value are different too. Can anyone explain?? thanks

  Sorry for the bad description it is tough to explain in one sentence. I have a dataset that has Cause field (RootCause) and an ID field (GroupID). Both can be many things but I need to identify where a GroupID has a multiple different rootcauses. for example: RootCause GrpId AAA 111 BBB 222 CCC 111 I am looking to be able to identify that GrpId 111 has two different RootCauses. This is what I have so far: Select [RootCause], GrpId, Count(GrpID) as CntGrpId From DB.dbo.Table Where DatatypeField <> '' Group BY [RootCause],GrpId This results set visualy gives me enough information to identify what I am looking for, but i need something better. I am looking to return only the ones that have multiples. Any ideas? Thanks

• Strange behaviour of mb_detect_order() in PHP

  I would like to detect encoding of some text (using PHP). For that purpose i use mb_detect_encoding() function. The problem is that the function returns different results if i change the order of possible encodings with mb_detect_order() function. STR; mb_detect_order(array('UTF-8','EUC-JP', 'SJIS', 'eucJP-win', 'SJIS-win', 'JIS', 'ISO-2022-JP','ISO-8859-1','ISO-8859-2')); $originalEncoding = mb_detect_encoding($str); die($originalEncoding); // $originalEncoding = 'UTF-8' However if you change the order of encodings in mb_detect_order() the results will be different: mb_detect_order(array('EUC-JP','UTF-8', 'SJIS', 'eucJP-win', 'SJIS-win', 'JIS', 'ISO-2022-JP','ISO-8859-1','ISO-8859-2')); die($originalEncoding); // $originalEncoding = 'EUC-JP' So my questions are: Why is that happening ? • Dynamically changing databases in SQL Server 2000

  At work we have a number of databases that we need to do the same operations on. I would like to write 1 SP that would loop over operations and set the database at the beginning of the loop (example to follow). I've tried sp_executesql('USE ' + @db_id) but that only sets the DB for the scope of that stored procedure. I don't really want to loop with hard coded database names because we need to do similar things in many different places and it's tough to remember where things need to change if we add another DB.   I will make a PXE-server on Ubuntu for the installations of Windows XP and 7. When a computer starts from the network, then it should be display a menu with, for example "installation of XP" and the next item "installation of 7". When I select one of these items, the installation must start. I won't use an image, wds or FOG because the computers aren't the same and there a different departments in the company with a different configuration, programs etc. Neither Windows Server, only an Ubuntu PXE-server How I should start with making that?   Beginners and professional, on blogs, in forums and chatrooms - people say it everywhere: C++ oh dear god no The short form of the question: For what reason is C++ so widely disliked and people are horrified by the imagination of using it for some project? I have been using a lot of different languages, including C++ by now, and I can only say that I really like it. I'm far more horrified by Delphi than by C++. Actually, I find it's an almost perfect, compiled language! I've been doing a lot of different projects in C++ as well, ranging from 3D video games to webservers and emulators for old video game consoles. And I still do not see the problem everyone else seems to have with it!

• Changing the way widgets are rendered/displayed in a form on the template

  I have a form with a few other embedded forms and some various widgets. The widgets are all saved in an array $form['elements'] and for some of them, I want to display labels and things, but for others I only want to display the basic rendering. foreach($form['elements'] as $elem) echo $elem->render(); this displays everything about the widget. The way it is right now, I couldn't for example call $elem['..'] because the different subforms appear in a random order and have different variable names. I assume I could still put some checks in the template, but it seems easier to fix this in the widget class, like override one of the render functions or something. How would I go about doing this or do you have any links that could help me understand how do do this? on a side note, one of my widgets is the sfWidgetFormChoice and I have no clue where it actually renders or how renderer_classes work

For example, everybody knows that a comes before b when performing an ascending sort on a string in MySQL. But what about other characters? Does the dollar-sign $ come before asterisk * ?   I have several client databases that use my windows application. I want to send this data for online web site. The client databases and server database structure is different because we need to add client ID column to some tables in server data base. I use this way to sync databases; use another application and use C# bulk copy with transaction to sync databases. My server database sql server is too busy and parallel task cannot be run. I work on this solution: I use triggers after update, delete, insert to save changes in one table and create sql query to send a web service to sync data. But I must send all data first! Huge data set (bigger than 16mg) I think can't use replication because the structure and primary keys are different.

  Hi, I am working on an Location Based Application. In this application i am using LocationListener class to update the location when the Location is changed.In each Activity i have different LocationListener to update location and do some specific work on updated location. But my problem is that when i am changing my location through DDMS , the LocationListener is being called of that current Activity as well as all the activities of the whole application where LocationListener has been defined. I don't know whether there should be one LocationListener for the whole application or for each Activity we should have different LocationListener. • Jenkins to not allow the same job to run concurrently on the same node?

  I have 4 nodes and 2 jobs. Any node can run 2 jobs concurrently and any job can be executed concurrently. I want to be able to restrict running the same job concurrently on the same machine. For example: Jobs: J1 and J2 nodes: N1,N2,N3 and N4 I can run J1 and J2 on the same node at the same time. I can run J1 on N1 and N3 at the same time. BUT I do not want to run J1 and another build of J1 on the same node at the same time. I have tried "Locks and Latches", "Jenkins Exclusive Execution", "Exclusion Plugin" plugins, and these will work well when trying to coordinate different jobs. But my case is trying to manage different build-instances of the same job.

  Hi guys, I've been trying today all day to figure this out and I have no idea. What I want: Get the title and meta description of any kind of website. Save this info to utf table in mysql. What the problem is? Different sites have different charsets which results in that some have chinese, some contain umlauts (german), then we have russian and so on.. I've tried preg_match which works for some while not for others, i've tried DOMdocument which is the same as preg_match. Is there any class available that will do this?   I have ExtJS based application. I have compound object on the server side, and have ExtJS window with few tabs for editing different parts of this one object. For example: I Have Compound object "Car" public class Car { public string Name; public string Color; public List Wheels; public List Doors; } And on my ExtJS window i have tabs ("General Info", "Wheels", "Doors") for editing different parts of this object. So what i want: When i want to create a new car i want to generate JSON configuration for my class "Car" like {Name:null; Color:null; Wheels:[]; Doors:[]} then sent it to the client, fill it on the client (without callbacks to server) and after user finishes creating his Car object (he added wheels, doors, set name and color) and press save, I want to sent this filled(generated) JSON object to server and save it to DB. Is it possible? Thanks
