Preset value of HTML Forms

Hi. I'm trying to preset the value of a dropdown menu and the value of a text box in an HTML form. As soon as the user taps the button in my iPhone app, it enters the webview and I was hoping to preset one of the dropdown menus and text field. How do I go about this? Curve fitting: Find a CDF (or any function) that satisfies a list of constraints.

I have some constraints on a CDF in the form of a list of x-values and for each x-value, a pair of y-values that the CDF must lie between. We can represent that as a list of {x,y1,y2} triples such as constraints = {{0, 0, 0}, {1, 0.00311936, 0.00416369}, {2, 0.0847077, 0.109064}, {3, 0.272142, 0.354692}, {4, 0.53198, 0.646113}, {5, 0.623413, 0.743102}, {6, 0.744714, 0.905966}} Graphically that looks like this: And since this is a CDF there's an additional implicit constraint of {Infinity, 1, 1} Ie, the function must never exceed 1. Also, it must be monotone. Now, without making any assumptions about its functional form, we want to find a curve that respects those constraints. For example: (I cheated to get that one: I actually started with a nice log-normal distribution and then generated fake constraints based on it.) One possibility is a straight interpolation through the midpoints of the constraints: mids = ({#1, Mean[{#2,#3}]}&) @@@ constraints f = Interpolation[mids, InterpolationOrder->0] Plotted, f looks like this: That sort of technically satisfies the constraints but it needs smoothing. We can increase the interpolation order but now it violates the implicit constraints (always less than one, and monotone): How can I get a curve that looks as much like the first one above as possible? Note that NonLinearModelFit with a LogNormalDistribution will do the trick in this example but is insufficiently general as sometimes there will sometimes not exist a log-normal distribution satisfying the constraints.

set a default saving data in a selection box in HABTM model

here is my problem which in my system. my system allow user to add event, which include date, time, places. In the other hand, user are allow to choose the "Event sharing to" some of other user. So i successful to created and share to other user, when the user login which are being choose to share with the event, he is able to view for that particular event. But the problem is, when user add the event, he must choose for his own name also in the select box. If not he will be unable to read the event that he had created. MS Access 2003 - Is there a way to programmatically define the data for a chart?

So I have some VBA for taking charts built with the Form's Chart Wizard, and automatically inserting it into PowerPoint Presentation slides. I use those chart-forms as sub forms within a larger forms that has parameters the user can select to determine what is on the chart. The idea is that the user can determine the parameter, build the chart to his/her liking, and click a button and have it in a ppt slide with the company's background template, blah blah blah..... So it works, though it is very bulky in terms of the amount of objects I have to use to accomplish this. I use expressions such as the following: like forms!frmMain.Month&* to get the input values into the saved queries, which was fine when i first started, but it went over so well and they want so many options, that it is driving the number of saved queries/objects up. I need several saved forms with charts because of the number of different types of charts I need to have this be able to handle. SO FINALLY TO MY QUESTION: I would much rather do all this on the fly with some VBA. Logging class using delegates (NullReferenceException)

I have created a small application but I would now like to incorporate some type of logging that can be viewed via listbox. The source of the data can be sent from any number of places. I have created a new logging class that will pass in a delegate. I think Im close to a solution but Im receiving a NullReferenceException and I don’t know the proper solution. .NET: How to know when serialization is completed?

When I construct my control (which inherits DataGrid), I add specific rows and columns. This works great at design time. Unfortunately, at runtime I add my rows and columns in the same constructor, but then the DataGrid is serialized (after the constructor runs) adding more rows and columns. After serialization is complete, I need to clear everything and re-initialize the rows and columns. Is there a protected method that I can override to know when the control is done serializing? Of course, I'd prefer to not have to do the work in the constructor, throw it away, and do it again after (potential) serialization. Is there a preferred event that is the equivalent of "set yourself up now", so that it is called once whether I'm serialized or not? The serialization i speak of comes from the InitializeComponent() method in the form's code-behind file. #region Windows Form Designer generated code /// <summary> /// Required method for Designer support - do not modify /// the contents of this method with the code editor. /// </summary> private void InitializeComponent() { ... } It would have been perfect if InitializeComponent was a virtual method defined by Control, then i could just override it and then perform my processing after i call base: protected override void InitializeComponent() { base.InitializeComponent(); InitializeMe(); } But it's not an ancestor method, it's declared only in the code-behind file. i notice that InitializeComponent calls SuspendLayout and ResumeLayout on various Controls. i thought it could override ResumeLayout, and perform my initialization then: public override void ResumeLayout() { base.ResumeLayout(); InitializeMe(); } But ResumeLayout is not virtual, so that's out. Anymore ideas? i can't be the first person to create a custom control.

Checkbox in an email

I am creating an email using the c# MailMessage and I am trying to add a checkbox that doesn't need to be clicked. The checkboxes will be used for a checklist of what to bring to an event (like a packing list). I s there any way to make a consistent output? Is there a way with html that works to create the checkboxes or do I just need to include images of a checkbox? Thanks in advance.

Rails routing problem

I am new to Rails routing and I currently have a problem and hope someone can explain it to me. I am using Rails 2.3.5 Firstly, let me describe my working-fine code: I have a text example, which has a controller (cars_controller) with an update action (along with some other actions). The update action needs the :id parameter. The edit.html.erb has a form: <% form_for :car, :url = {:controller = 'cars', :action = 'update' } % ... # rest of the form content. In the configuration/routes.rb, I have a self-defined routing rule for update: map.connect 'car/update/:id', :controller = 'cars', :action = 'update' This works fine. Secondly, I change the code. All I change is the self-defined routing rule to map.connect 'car/:action/:id, :controller = 'cars' To me, this rule covers the self-written routing rule. Of course, this rule is also used by other actions such as edit. But the edit.html.erb doesn't work. It complains that update action misses the :id parameter. I have to change the form_for helper to: <% form_for :car, :url = {:controller = 'cars', :action = 'update', :id = @car }% ... # @car is the instance passed to edit view. I know that if missing the :id parameter, update action will complain. What I don't understand is why my first code works (with my self-defined routing rule) but my second code fails. It seems to me that I didn't provide :id parameter in my self-defined routing rule. Anyone has an idea?

InfoPath FormControl on STA worker thread

I have a .NET class that exposes two public methods: one to create an InfoPath form and another to Export to one of the supported formats. I’m using the Microsoft FormControl to do this. It’s hosted by a Form that does not get displayed. I get called by a Winforms app, but on an MTA worker thread instead of the UI thread. So I create an STA thread and execute on that, which works exactly once and then results in this exception: System.InvalidOperationException was unhandled Message="Unable to get the window handle for the 'FormControl' control. Hi Guys and Girls. I'm working on a website (tobacco related) that requires all visitors to validate they are over 18 before they can view the site. I have a form in place that validates the age but I'm at a dead end. How can I use this to store a cookie that they've passed the test and do a check on all pages to see if this check has already been passed or not? How do you efficiently bulk index lookups?

I have these entity kinds: Molecule Atom MoleculeAtom Given a list(molecule_ids) whose lengths is in the hundreds, I need to get a dict of the form {molecule_id: list(atom_ids)}. Likewise, given a list(atom_ids) whose length is in the hunreds, I need to get a dict of the form {atom_id: list(molecule_ids)}. Both of these bulk lookups need to happen really fast. Right now I'm doing something like: atom_ids_by_molecule_id = {} for molecule_id in molecule_ids: moleculeatoms = MoleculeAtom.all().filter('molecule =', db.Key.from_path('molecule', molecule_id)).fetch(1000) atom_ids_by_molecule_id[molecule_id] = [ MoleculeAtom.atom.get_value_for_datastore(ma).id() for ma in moleculeatoms ] Like I said, len(molecule_ids) is in the hundreds. I need to do this kind of bulk index lookup on almost every single request, and I need it to be FAST, and right now it's too slow. Ideas: Will using a Molecule.atoms ListProperty do what I need? Consider that I am storing additional data on the MoleculeAtom node, and remember it's equally important for me to do the lookup in the molecule-atom and atom-molecule directions. Caching? I tried memcaching lists of atom IDs keyed by molecule ID, but I have tons of atoms and molecules, and the cache can't fit it. How about denormalizing the data by creating a new entity kind whose key name is a molecule ID and whose value is a list of atom IDs? The idea is, calling db.get on 500 keys is probably faster than looping through 500 fetches with filters, right?

Custom data forms in CakePHP

I'm building a controller to manage group based ACL in CakePHP and when I create or edit a group I want to be able to select what permissions it has. The group data table only stores a group ID and a group Name as the permissions are stored in the ACO/ARO table. I have an array from the ACO that I want to turn into a set of checkboxes so you can check them to allow access from that group to that ACO. So first off, how do I turn this array into a set of checkboxes. The array looks like this: array( [0] => array( [Aco] => array( [alias] => 'alias' [id] => 1) [children] => array ( [0] => array( [Aco]=> ...etc )) [1] => array( ...etc ) My next question is how can I check these once the form has been submitted to the controller to allow the selected actions? [Update] Ok changing the angle of my question, how can I use the Form helper to create forms that are not based on any Model?

php mysql parallel array checkboxes

I have an array of checkboxes that I edit at once to set up a 'tinyint' field. the problem comes in when i uncheck the checkbox and post the vales to mysql. since it posts an array of checkboxes and another parallel array of values to edit, unchecking a checkbox results in the 0 value been ignored by PHP_POST and hence the checkbox array will be less by the number of unchecked values in the form while the array to be edited will have all the records in the form. here is the submit code while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $checked = ($row[active]==1) ? Entity Framework. Updating EntityCollection using disconnected objects via navigation property.

I have a question, much liket this unanswered one. I'm trying to work with the entity framework, and having a tough time getting my foreign tables to update. I have something basically like this in the DB: Incident (table): -ID -other fields Responses (table): -FK:Incident.ID -other fields And and entities that match: Incident (entity) -ID -Other fields -Responses (EntityCollection of Responses via navigation property) Each Incident can have 0 or more responses. In my Webpage, I have a form to allow the user to enter all the details of an Incident, including a list of responses. I can add everything to the database when a new Incident is created, however I'm having difficulty with editing the Incident. When the page loads for edit, I populate the form and then store the responses in the viewstate. When the user changes the list of responses (adds one, deletes one or edits one). I store this back into the viewstate. Then when the user clicks the save button, I'd like to save the changes to the Incident and the Responses back to the DB. I cannot figure out how to get the responses from the detached viewstate into the Incident object so that they can be updated together. Currently when the user clicks save, I'm getting the Incident to edit from the db, making changes to the Incident's fields and then saving it back to the DB. However I can't figure out how to have the detached list of responses from the viewstate attach to the Incident. I have tried the following without success: Clearning the Incident.Responses collection and adding the ones from the viewstate back in: Incident.Responses.Clear() for each objResponse in Viewstate("Responses") Incident.Responses.add(objResponse) next Creating an EntityCollection from my list and then assiging that to the Incident.Responses Incident.Responses = EntityCollectionFromViewstateList Iterating through the responses in Incident.Response and assigning the corresponding object from viewstate: for each ObjResponse in Incident.Responses objResponse = objCorrespondingModifedResonseFromViewState Next These all fail, I'd like to be able to merge the changes into the Inicdent object so that when the BLL calls SaveChanges on the changes to both the Incident and Responses will happen at the same time. Any suggestions? I keep finding lots of stuff about assigning foreign keys (singular), but I haven't found a great solution for doing a set of entities assigned to another entity in this manner.

How to create a semi transparent window in WPF that allows mouse events to pass through

I am trying to create an effect similar to the Lights out /lights dim feature in Adobe Lightroom (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87hNd3vaENE) except in WPF. What I tried was to create another window over-top of my existing window, make it transparent and put a semi transparent Path geometry on it. But I want mouse events to be able to pass through this semi transparent window (on to windows below). This is a simplified version of what I have: <Window x:Class="LightsOut.MaskWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" AllowsTransparency="True" WindowStyle="None" ShowInTaskbar="False" Topmost="True" Background="Transparent"> <Grid> <Button HorizontalAlignment="Left" Height="20" Width="60">click</Button> <Path IsHitTestVisible="False" Stroke="Black" Fill="Black" Opacity="0.3"> <Path.Data> <RectangleGeometry Rect="0,0,1000,1000 "/> </Path.Data> </Path> </Grid> The window is fully transparent, so on places where the Path doesn't cover, mouse events pass right through. So far so good. The IsHitTestvisible is set to false on the path object. So mouse events will pass through it to other controls on the same form (ie you can click on the Button, because it is on the same form). But mouse events wont pass through the Path object onto windows that are below it. Any ideas? Or better ways to solve this problem? Thanks.

How to exit grid with ctrl-TAB when grid is on a tabpage (onkeydown works when grid not on tabpage)

But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well. FWIW I tried a different combination like ctrl-E and got pretty much the same result with focus disappearing from the grid but not going anywhere I could detect. The sub still saw the e.control as controlkey. Oddly, ctrl-X, ctrl-A etc all work in the grid and a ctrl-Delete combo I put in the subclass for deleting a row works fine. Once again - grid directly on form and it all works. I'm definitely over my head on this one. Guidance much appreciated. vb or c# fine. TIA

Multiple calls to preg_replace alters result

I have a bunch of files that were named in a somewhat standard format. The standard form is basically this: [integer]_word1_word2_word3_ ... _wordn where a word could really be anything, but all words are separated by an underscore. There is really only 3 things I want to do to the text: 1.) I want to modify the integer, which is always at the beginning, so that something like "200" would become $ 200.00. 2.) replace any "words" of the form "with", "With", "w/", or "W/" with "with". 3.) Replace all underscores with a space. I wrote three different preg_replace calls to do the trick. They are as follows: 1.) $filename = preg_replace("/(^[0-9]+)/","$ $1.00",$filename) 2.) $filename = preg_replace("/_([wW]|[wW]ith)_/"," with ",$filename) 3.) $filename = preg_replace("/_/"," ",$filename); Each replacement works as expected when run individually, but when all three are run, the 2nd replacement is ignored. Why would something like that occur? Thanks for the help!

PPR in tr:selectOneChoice does not work

Hi, I have a simple testing page that test my PPR on a selectOneChoice component. when select a value from selectOnechoice 1, the selected value will display on a output label and also reset the selected value and the other selectOneChoice. Google Maps inside custom PODS page

For one of the fields, i have a input helper that displays a google map location which I can use to pick out a location which is stored in comma separated variable. lost session after redirect_to

I encountered a strange performance in my current project, which is about session. The strange part is it was normal in Safari but failed in other browsers (includes chrome, firefox and opera). There is a registration form for input of part of the key information (email, password, etc) and is submitted to an action called "create" This is the basic code of create action: @account = Account.new(params[:account]) if @account.save ApplicationController.current_account = @account session[:current_account] = ApplicationController.current_account session[:account] = ApplicationController.current_account.id email = @account.email Mailer.deliver_account_confirmation(email) flash[:type] = "success" flash[:notice] = "Successfully Created Account" redirect_to :controller => "accounts", :action => "create_step_2" else flash[:type] = "error" flash[:title] = "Oops, something wasn't right." flash[:notice] = "Mistakes are marked below in red. Thanks." render :action => "new" end Also I created a before_filter in the application controller, which has the following code: ApplicationController.current_account = Account.find_by_id(session[:current_account].id) unless session[:current_account].blank? For Safari, there is no any problem. But for the other browsers, the session[:current_account] does not exist and so produced the following error message: RuntimeError in AccountsController#create_step_2 Called id for nil, which would mistakenly be 4 -- if you really wanted the id of nil, use object_id Please could anyone help me?

Help with Struts Action mapping

I am having a problem with my struts application it is a class enrollment app and when the user clicks on a "show enrolled courses" button it is supposed to show the courses they are enrolled in but it shows nothing at the moment. Struts/Apache does not return any errors, it Just shows a blank page and I cannot figure out why.
