  • Wake OSX 10.8 over WiFi (WoWL - Wake on WiFi Lan)

    I have a stack of Apple Mac minis running SSH servers for remote login. The problem is that I can't seem to get them to wake up. From what I gathered, as of Mac OSX 10.7 you required to have a boot time option set - darkwake=0 10.7 and darkwake=no 10.8. So I tried this and then I came to the realization that this will probably work for a wired connection but I'm using WiFi. My wired connections are used for another local subnet without Internet access, so I have to get it to wake on WiFi. I realize that I can just set the stack of Mac minis to just not sleep, but I'm looking for a sleep enabled option. These services don't require initial response speed as once the connection is made they will be active and once they are no longer active they will hopefully go back to sleep. I have a FreeBSD box running avahi-daemon in order to try and wake the Macs with the Bonjour Service but it doesn't seem to work. I tried registering the service as Gordon suggested in the below post, but that just makes it so that there isn't a timeout when discovering services and resolving them. It still doesn't allow ssh connections to port 22 when it's asleep.   • compiling a program to run in DOS mode

    I write a simple program, to run in DOS mode. Everything works under emulated console in Win XP / Vista / Seven, but not in DOS. The error says: this program caonnot be run in DOS mode. I wonder is that a problem with compiler flags or something bigger. For programming i use Code::Blocks v 8.02 with such settings for compilation: -Wall -W -pedantic -pedantic-errors in Project \ Build options \ Compiler settings I've tried a clean DOS mode, booting from cd, and also setting up DOS in Virtual Machine. The same error appears. Should i turn on some more compiler flags ? Some specific 386 / 486 optimizations ? UPDATE Ok, i've downloaded, installed and configured DJGPP. Even resolved some problems with libs and includes. Still have two questions. 1) i can't compile a code, which calls _strdate and _strtime, i've double checked the includes, as MSDN says it needs time.h, but still error says: _strdate was not declared in this scope, i even tried to add std::_strdate, but then i have 4, not 2 errors sazing the same 2) the 2nd code is about gotoxy, it looks like that: #include <windows.h> void gotoxy(int x, int y) { COORD position; position.X = x; position.Y = y; SetConsoleCursorPosition(GetStdHandle(STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE), position); } error says there is no windows.h, so i've put it in place, but then there are many more errors saying some is missing from windows.h, I SUPPOSE it won't work because this functions is strictly for windows right ? is there any way to write similar gotoxy for DOS ? UPDATE2 1) solved using time(); instead of _strdate(); and _strtime(); here's the code time_t rawtime; struct tm * timeinfo; char buffer [20]; time ( &rawtime ); timeinfo = localtime ( &rawtime ); strftime (buffer,80,"%Y.%m.%d %H:%M:%S\0",timeinfo); string myTime(buffer); It now compiles under DJGPP. UPDATE3 Still need to solve a code using gotoxy - replaced it with some other code that compiles (under DJGPP). Thank You all for help. Just learnt some new things about compiling (flags, old IDE's like DJGPP, OpenWatcom) and refreshed memories setting DOS to work :--)

  • Unable to PPTP through NAT on Cisco 881

    I'm trying to connect to a PPTP server which is sat behind a Cisco 881 NAT router. The server is running Ubuntu Server 12.04 and is running Poptop pptpd as the PPTP daemon listening for connections. As discussed in my other question, I'm trying to setup a Cisco 881 router to replace my old Linksys WAG320N. This same server and WAN connection worked fine with the WAG320N with no special configuration, other than allowing 1723 in through the firewall. On the Cisco 881, I'm using the newer ip nat enable or NAT NVI to setup static routes in through the firewall for the services running behind the router. My reason being that I can't run another copy of my live DNS domains internally with local IP addresses in. For the purposes of this question, though, I have rebuilt the router with ip nat inside/outside style NAT'ing, but this issue is still apparent. HTTP/SMTP/IMAP etc. all work ok from both the WAN and LAN interfaces of the router. I'm only having issues with SIP (see other question) and PPTP. My issue is that the GRE doesn't appear to be passing through NAT correctly and one end of the connection is not receiving GRE traffic when it should be, so the server hangs up the connection. Trying the connection to the LAN IP of the server from the same LAN as the server (behind the router), the PPTP connection works fine, so I'm confident that the server's config is ok. When attempting a connection, I can see in show ip nat nvi translations that both a TCP translation on 1723 is setup and also a GRE translation is setup also. I appear to be able to see GRE related packets on the LAN that the server is on, so I am lead to believe that the server is sending(?) GRE packets, however running Wireshark on a client PC when attempting a connection shows absolutely no GRE packets. Whilst there are no configuration directives in my config posted above (that I can pin point) which would specifically block them, it would appear that the GRE packets are not being allowed in/out of the router's firewall, even though a NAT translation entry is setup to the server's LAN address. Would anyone be able to provide me with some help to ensure that GRE packets are not blocked by the router's firewall, so that this can be ruled out as a possible issue please?

  • Issue using Visual Studio 2010 compiled C++ DLL in Windows 2000

    I have a very simple DLL written in unmanaged C++ that I access from my application. I recently switch to Visual Studio 2010, and the DLL went from 55k down to 35k with no code changes, and now it will no longer load in Windows 2000. I didn't change any code or compiler settings. I have my defines setup for 0x0500, which should include Windows 2000 support. Has anyone else run into this, or have any ideas of what I can do?

  • Localized License Agreements in Visual Studio Setup Projects?

    I've added a EULA using VS2005's built in License Agreement UI form in a Setup Project. This form has a LicenseFile property that you set to an RTF file that displays the EULA. Assuming I have a number of translated RTFs, how can I make the EULA that is displayed point to the appropriate RTF localized to the user's Windows CurrentCulture settings? I've seen some articles on WiX but at this point I need to stick with our current installation setup. Thanks!

Despite settings android:clickable="false" for Seekbar in layout xml, I am still able to click on it and move seek bar as desired. I don't want Seekbar to be clickbale but I do want Listview row to clickable. Any pointers will be appreciated.

  • Is it a good idea to run Redmine using Webrick through Nginx?

    The task here is to get Redmine setup for a small (<20) team. There may be a few users who would access the setup as business clients. I am familiar with setting up PHP for Apache, and recently, Nginx. I am not familiar with Ruby, Ruby-On-Rails, etc. I prefer to use the OS's (Ubuntu Linux LTS) package manager to install the different components as it takes care of dependencies and updates. I have setup Nginx with PHP-FPM successfully and am struggling with Redmine. As suggested here, I got Redmine running on port 3000. # /etc/init/redmine.conf # Redmine description "Redmine" start on runlevel [2345] stop on runlevel [!2345] expect daemon exec ruby /usr/share/redmine/script/server webrick -e production -b 0.0.0.0 -d And using the Nginx config on this page, I used Nginx to proxy requests to Webrick. server { listen 80; server_name myredmine.example.com; location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:3000; } } This works well locally. I wanted some opinions before trying this out on the live box (a 256 MB VPS). Further, should I use something like monit to monitor webrick for failure?

    I've built a small GUI app for work that uses some .glade files for pop-up windows. Recently, the ground beneath me was shifted - my environment was upgraded. Newer pyGTK versions require GTKBuilder and .xml files instead of Glade and .glade files and now my poor app is broken. I need to convert the .glade file to the newer .xml file. Problem is Glade-3 is not on our system, and I can't find gtk-builder-convert on the web. I've looked at the Gnome GIT Browser, don't know where to start looking or how to search it. Would anyone be kind enough to point me to the gtk-builder-convert python script?

The ideal scenario is like this: The default parameter values are applied when the program is started. However, when the user wants to change some jre parameter values, he goes to a .ini file, MyProgram.ini for example, changes the values there, and the new values will be applied next time the program is started. I think eclipse uses the same way for its memory and some other parameter settings.

    I am trying to get a macports-installed MySQL to use a data directory stored inside my FileVault-protected home dir. I used sudo cp -a /opt/local/var/db/mysql5 ~/db/ (the -a to ensure file permissions remain intact) and then replaced the original mysql5 directory with a soft link: sudo ln -s ~/db/mysql5 /opt/local/var/db/mysql5 However, when I now try to start MySQL it fails. Also I want to keep the previously download xml so next time I may not need to download again until certain hours is passed or whatever period of time according to settings. Do you recommend me to download it first and store locally before process it? Or should I process it while downloading (with libxml2 I guess)? What do you usually with apps using remote XML? Targeting 3.0 devices btw.
