• Suggest a Software Inventory Program?

  I'm looking for an audit/inventory package that can run on all our PCs and identify all installed software. I've found issues with the packages that I've tried in that most of the packages seem to simply list the contents of the Add/Remove Programs list, which is useless with any application that is just a standalone executable. We have a few hundred PCs so the likes of Altiris may be too costly.

• Has anyone achieved true differential sync with rsync in ESXi?

  Berate me later on the fact that I'm using the service console to do anything in ESXi... I've got a working rsync binary (v3.0.4) that I can use in ESXi 4.1U1. I tend to use rsync over cp when copying VM's or backups from one local datastore to another local datastore. I've used rsync to copy data from one ESXi box to another but that was just for small files. In now trying to do true differential syncs of backups taken via ghettoVCB between my primary ESXi machine and a secondary one. But even when I do this locally (one datastore to another datastore on the same ESXi machine) rsync appears to copy the files in their entirety. I've got two VMDK's totally 80GB in size, and rsync still takes anywhere between 1 and 2 hours but the VMDK's aren't growing that much daily. Below is the rsync command I'm executing. I am copying locally because ultimately these files will get copied onto a datastore created from a LUN on a remote system. • recently used programs stopped updating Vista Home Premium 64

  For some reason my list of recently used programs has stopped updating. Any program that I "pin" to the start menu remains, but where you would normally expect to see the recent programs is just blank space. What setting do you think could have changed?   Hi, I do not understand how following code works. Specifically, I do not understand using of "return i<3". I would expect return i IF its < than 3. I always though that return just returns value. I could not even find what syntax is it. Second question, it seems to me like using anonymous method (delegate(int i)) but could be possible to write it with normal delegate pointing to method elsewere? • Explanation of contribute_to_class

  I'm attempted to extend code, and have come across an issue, I don't understand a line of code. I know the outcome of it - but I don't understand how it happens and am naturally enough scared to change it. The line of code I've come across is this: MyGenericRelation().contribute_to_class(model, 'field_name') The result of this code is a field with 'field_name' is added to the 'model' and from what I gather the objects inside the field are a list of type X (part of MyGenericRelation). I'm wondering if anyone can explain how this works. As in, why do I get a list of X objects attached to 'field_name' and if does it have to be generic relations prior to contribute_to_class or would using an actual model type, say 'Y' just give me a list of Y's. To be honest, I am more interested in the affect and functionality of the contribute_to_class method.

  I need to find out the pixel position of one element in a list that's been displayed using a ListView. It seems like I should get one of the TextViews and then use getTop, but I can't figure out how to get a child view of a ListView. Thanks! Update: The children of the ViewGroup do not correspond 1-to-1 with the items in the list, for a ListView. Instead, the ViewGroup's children correspond to only those views that are visible right now. So getChildAt operates on an index that's internal to the ViewGroup and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the position in the list that the ListView uses. :-/

  I have two entities, say, House and People, where multiple people can live in one house. It's a unidirectional link where each Person has a field for which House they belong to, so the Person table has a column named house_id. I need to be able to return all the Person objects who belong to a certain House, but I only have the id of the house. This can be done like this: House house = houseDAO.findById(houseId); List people = session.createCriteria(Person.class).add(Restrictions.eq("house", house)).list(); But since I don't need the house, that's adding an unnecessary query. I've tried to do: session.createCriteria(Person.class).add(Restrictions.eq("house_id", houseId)).list(); But that doesn't work because house_id is not a property, it's a database column. I could just add an sql restriction, but is there a hibernate way of doing this?

  I've recently begun using Notepad++, and have found a part of its styling functionality that confuses me. I'm currently attempting to color all of PHP's defined functions (such as count(), strlen(), etc.). In the Settings-Style Configurator, you cannot add a new style for such a function list. Instead, I have begun editing the stylers.xml and langs.xml. When I edit the WORD style, which contains stuff like 'if', 'and', and 'true', things change accordingly in my code. Any ideas on how to make this work?

I have proved with a selector and a custom style but all i get is or the selector doesn't appear or the selector covering the item so i can't see it.   My UI is not updating when I expect it to. The application displays "projects" using a view similar to iTunes -- a source list on the left lets you filter a list (NSTableView) on the right. My filters update properly when they are examining any simple field (like name, a string), but not for arrays (like tags). I'm removing a tag from one of my objects (from an NSMutableArray field called "tags") and I expect it to disappear from the list because it no longer matches the predicate that is bound to my table's NSArrayController. Then I have this set method: public void setMessagesList(ArrayList<PersonalMessage> listMessages) { this.listMessages = listMessages; } My question is, should I use List instead of `ArrayList in the method signature? I have decided to use ArrayList because this way I can force the implementation I want, otherwise there could be a mess with different types of lists here and there. But I'm not sure if this is the way to go...

• The best way to display data in a table view?

  Hey guys, I'm trying to display nutritional information in a table view but am struggling about the best way to show the info. I don't want to create unique views for each page as that would take up a lot of space. My ideal avenue would be like a website having links to data pages instead of individual views for each page. How would I best implement that? For example, I would want the first page to be a list of restaurants, then as you press the restaurant it would list the different types of food...the next page would be a list of those foods and then the final page would be the nutrition info itself.   Background: I've created an online circuit design application where div tags are containers that contain smaller div containers and so forth. Question: For any particular div tag I need to quickly identify if it contains other div tags (that may in turn contain other div tags). I've searched JQuery and I don't see any built-in routine for this. Does anyone know of an algorithm that's quicker than O(n^2)? Seems like I have to walk the list of div tags in an outer loop (n) and have an inner loop (another n) to compare against all other div tags and do a "containment test" (position, width, height), building a list of contained div tags. That's n-squared. Then I have to build a list of all nested div tags by concatenating contained lists. So the total would be O(n^2)+n. There must be a better way?

  Hello, I'm really new in TDD and, actually, I'm trying to follow the sample from my book (SportsStore -- Pro ASP.NET MVC Framework/Steve Sanderson/APRESS). I'm on pages 103-105. Although there are more on this, as new to all of this, I'm concerned with the following statements. ProductsController controller = new ProductsController(repository); var result = controller.List(2); //... regarding the above statements, when I write this (as in the book), var products = result.ViewData.Model as IList<Product>; I get a compiler error "System.Web.MVC.ActionResult" does not contain a definition for ViewData ..." But, when I remove the List() from the statement, then the compiler error disapear. var result = controller.List(2);//Doesn't work var result = controller;//It works Is something wrong there? I checked Apress website for that book, but there is nothing listed as Errata or issue. So I'm really lost. Thanks for helping

  I understand how to make a dropdown list. I understand how to make conditional formatting change the color of a cell. What I do not understand is how to make conditional formatting change the color of a cell based solely on the state of another cell (not a comparison). A1 is a No / Yes dropdown list B1 is a criteria statement If the user satisfies the criteria statement in B1, they select Yes on the dropdown list in A1. For quick reference, if possible, I'd like B1 to change to a green background color on this event... and of course change back to no-fill if the dropdown is reset to No. Is this possible in Excel 2003 and/or 2007?

And to get pagination on the search result list I would like to use a generic object_list view to display the results. But to do that i have to merge 3 querysets into one. How can i do that? • How do I get Outlook to auto fill information

  I repeatedly have to send emails that are nearly identical except they have a different case number. I'd like to setup outlook to just ask me for the case number, fill it in the appropriate place in the body and subject of the email and then send it to a preset list of recipients (it's a static list of people). I think some combination of Forms and Templates should be able to do this but I'm unsure how.
