  • Use the output of logs in the execution of a program

    - by myle
When I try to create a specific object, the program crashes. However, I use a module (mechanize) which logs useful information just before the crash. If I had somehow this information available I could avoid it. Is there any way to use the information which is logged (when I use the function set_debug_redirects) during the normal execution of the program? Just to be a bit more specific, I try to emulate the login behavior in a webpage. The program crashes because it can't handle a specific Following HTTP-EQUIV=REFRESH to <omitted_url>. Given this url, which is available in the logs but not as part of the exception which is thrown, I could visit this page and complete successfully the login process. Any other suggestions that may solve the problem are welcomed. It follows the code so far. SERVICE_LOGIN_BOX_URL = "https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLoginBox?service=adsense&ltmpl=login&ifr=true&rm=hide&fpui=3&nui=15&alwf=true&passive=true&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fadsense%2Flogin-box-gaiaauth&followup=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fadsense%2Flogin-box-gaiaauth&hl=en_US" def init_browser(): # Browser br = mechanize.Browser() # Cookie Jar cj = cookielib.LWPCookieJar() br.set_cookiejar(cj) # Browser options br.set_handle_equiv(True) br.set_handle_gzip(False) br.set_handle_redirect(True) br.set_handle_referer(True) br.set_handle_robots(True) br.set_handle_refresh(mechanize._http.HTTPRefreshProcessor(), max_time=30.0, honor_time=False) # Want debugging messages? #br.set_debug_http(True) br.set_debug_redirects(True) #br.set_debug_responses(True) return br def adsense_login(login, password): br = init_browser() r = br.open(SERVICE_LOGIN_BOX_URL) html = r.read() # Select the first (index zero) form br.select_form(nr=0) br.form['Email'] = login br.form['Passwd'] = password br.submit() req = br.click_link(text='click here to continue') try: # this is where it crashes br.open(req) except HTTPError, e: sys.exit("post failed: %d: %s" % (e.code, e.msg)) return br

  • How can I write this query in Django? (datetime)

    - by alex
    | time_before | datetime | YES | MUL | NULL | | | time_after | datetime | YES | MUL | NULL | | the_tag = Tag.objects.get(id=tag_id) Log.objects.filter(blah).extra(where=['last_updated >'+the_tag.time_before, 'last_updated' < the_tag.time_after]) Ok. Basically, I have an object that's called "the_tag". I want to select from Log where log.last_updated (which is a datetime field) is between the tag's time. But, I don't know how to write the last part of this Django query.

  • I need to know what link is clicked, how do i get these variables with cherrypy?

    - by user291071
Lets say I display 3 links, I want to accomplish 2 things, know which link is clicked, and record this choice in a list/pickle or txt file but also capture this variable in cherrypy so I can perform another action. How do I do this? Its been suggested that I use a query string which makes sense but I can't get the querystring variable to cherrypy to use for further actions. So would anyone have a simple code of cherrypy with lets say 2 pages and have one page display 2 links with a querystring in each and the second page able to get that value?

  • Inside a decorator-class, access instance of the class which contains the decorated method

    - by ifischer
I have the following decorator, which saves a configuration file after a method decorated with @saveconfig is called: class saveconfig(object): def __init__(self, f): self.f = f def __call__(self, *args): self.f(object, *args) # Here i want to access "cfg" defined in pbtools print "Saving configuration" I'm using this decorator inside the following class. After the method createkvm is called, the configuration object self.cfg should be saved inside the decorator: class pbtools() def __init__(self): self.configfile = open("pbt.properties", 'r+') # This variable should be available inside my decorator self.cfg = ConfigObj(infile = self.configfile) @saveconfig def createkvm(self): print "creating kvm" My problem is that i need to access the object variable self.cfg inside the decorator saveconfig. A first naive approach was to add a parameter to the decorator which holds the object, like @saveconfig(self), but this doesn't work. How can I access object variables of the method host inside the decorator? Do i have to define the decorator inside the same class to get access?

  • Fixing color in scatter plots in matplotlib

    - by ajhall
Hi guys, I'm going to have to come back and add some examples if you need them, which you might. But, here's the skinny- I'm plotting scatter plots of lab data for my research. I need to be able to visually compare the scatter plots from one plot to the next, so I want to fix the color range on the scatter plots and add in a colorbar to each plot (which will be the same in each figure). Essentially, I'm fixing all aspects of the axes and colorspace etc. so that the plots are directly comparable by eye. For the life of me, I can't seem to get my scatter() command to properly set the color limits in the colorspace (default)... i.e., I figure out my total data's min and total data's max, then apply them to vmin, vmax, for the subset of data, and the color still does not come out properly in both plots. This must come up here and there, I can't be the only one that wants to compare various subsets of data amongst plots... so, how do you fix the colors so that each data keeps it's color between plots and doesn't get remapped to a different color due to the change in max/min of the subset -v- the whole set? I greatly appreciate all your thoughts!!! A mountain-dew and fiery-hot cheetos to all! -Allen

  • How to get debugging of an App Engine application working?

    - by Chris Lacy
I've got 10+ years in C/C++, and it appears Visual Studio has spoilt me during that time. In Visual Studio, debbuging issimple: I just add a breakpoint to a line of code, and as soon as that code is executed, my breakpoint triggers, at which point I can view a callstack, local/member variables, etc. I'm trying to achieve this functionality under App Engine. I assume that is possible? All the searching I've done to this point has led me to using Pydev in Eclipse. As best I can tell, I am successfully launching my simple 'hello world' program in Debug mode. But the IDE doesn't even seem to have an option to set a breakpoint? I must be missing something. I've googled long and hard about this, but am having no luck. Most results trace back to the same old threads that don't deal directly with my issue. Can anyone shed some light on how you get basic debugging setup using Pydev/Eclipse with App Engine? Alternatively, if there's an easier way to debug App Engine than using Pydev/Eclipse, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks in advance.

I need to make a tv that shows the user the channel and the volume, and shows whether or not the television is on. • Loading Files in AppEngine

  • How to share memory buffer across sessions in Django?

    - by afriza
I want to have one party (or more) sends a stream of data via HTTP request(s). Other parties will be able to receive the same stream of data in almost real-time. The data stream should be accessible across sessions (according to access control list). How can I do this in Django? If possible I would like to avoid database access and use in memory buffer (along with some synchronization mechanism)

  • Writing a blocking wrapper around twisted's IRC client

    - by Andrey Fedorov
I'm trying to write a dead-simple interface for an IRC library, like so: import simpleirc connection = simpleirc.Connect('irc.freenode.net', 6667) channel = connection.join('foo') find_command = re.compile(r'google ([a-z]+)').findall for msg in channel: for t in find_command(msg): channel.say("http://google.com/search?q=%s" % t) Working from their example, I'm running into trouble (code is a bit lengthy, so I pasted it here). Since the call to channel.__next__ needs to be returned when the callback <IRCClient instance>.privmsg is called, there doesn't seem to be a clean option. Using exceptions or threads seems like the wrong thing here, is there a simpler (blocking?) way of using twisted that would make this possible?

  • PDB: exception when in console - full stack trace

    - by EoghanM
When at the pdb console, entering a statement which causes an exception results in just a single line stack trace, e.g. (Pdb) someFunc() *** TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given) However I'd like to figure out where exactly in someFunc the error originates. i.e. in this case, which class __init__ is attached to. Is there a way to get a full stack trace in Pdb?

  • How to exit an if clause

    - by Roman Stolper
What sorts of methods exist for prematurely exiting an if clause? There are times when I'm writing code and want to put a break statement inside of an if clause, only to remember that those can only be used for loops. Lets take the following code as an example: if some_condition: ... if condition_a: # do something # and then exit the outer if block ... if condition_b: # do something # and then exit the outer if block # more code here I can think of one way to do this: assuming the exit cases happen within nested if statements, wrap the remaining code in a big else block. Example: if some_condition: ... if condition_a: # do something # and then exit the outer if block else: ... if condition_b: # do something # and then exit the outer if block else: # more code here The problem with this is that more exit locations mean more nesting/indented code. Alternatively, I could write my code to have the if clauses be as small as possible and not require any exits. Does anyone know of a good/better way to exit an if clause? If there are any associated else-if and else clauses, I figure that exiting would skip over them.

  • Correct way to detect sequence parameter?

    - by noamtm
I want to write a function that accepts a parameter which can be either a sequence or a single value. The type of value is str, int, etc., but I don't want it to be restricted to a hardcoded list. In other words, I want to know if the parameter X is a sequence or something I have to convert to a sequence to avoid special-casing later. I could do type(X) in (list, tuple) but there may be other sequence types I'm not aware of, and no common base class. -N. Edit: See my "answer" below for why most of these answers don't help me. Maybe you have something better to suggest.
