  • Profile Provider for ASP.NET That Stores Profile Info in File System

    Does anyone know of an open source implementation of an ASP.NET ProfileProvider that stores user profile information in the file system? I would prefer to avoid writing my own if a decent implementation already exists - while the API doesn't look to complicated, I'd rather not re-invent the wheel (so to speak). Hopefully this doesn't matter, but I am using .NET 3.5 with ASP.MVC 1.0. Thanks in advance.

I want to use jQuery so that when I click the H3, the image, or the paragraph inside the LIE(which are all information about a certain site), it would fade out the entire UL, then grab info about that site from our database. I think this requires AJAX but I don't have much experience with it. I'm also confused on how to use jQuery to write the new HTML after the information is grabbed.

  • C# WPF application is using too much memory while GC.GetTotalMemory() is low

    I wrote little WPF application with 2 threads - main thread is GUI thread and another thread is worker. App has one WPF form with some controls. There is a button, allowing to select directory. After selecting directory, application scans for .jpg files in that directory and checks if their thumbnails are in hashtable. if they are, it does nothing. else it's adding their full filenames to queue for worker. Worker is taking filenames from this queue, loading JPEG images (using WPF's JpegBitmapDecoder and BitmapFrame), making thumbnails of them (using WPF's TransformedBitmap) and adding them to hashtable. Everything works fine, except memory consumption by this application when making thumbnails for big images (like 5000x5000 pixels). I've added textboxes on my form to show memory consumption (GC.GetTotalMemory() and Process.GetCurrentProcess().PrivateMemorySize64) and was very surprised, cuz GC.GetTotalMemory() stays close to 1-2 Mbytes, while private memory size constantly grows, especially when loading new image (~ +100Mb per image). Even after loading all images, making thumbnails of them and freeing original images, private memory size stays at ~700-800Mbytes. My VirtualBox is limited to 512Mb of physical memory and Windows in VirtualBox starts to swap alot to handle this huge memory consumption. I guess I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know how to investigate this problem, cuz according to GC, allocated memory size is very low.   • Transition domain to new web host without waiting for DNS propagation

    I was considering switching to Amazon EC2 to host my website to handle more traffic. It seems like I would have to update DNS records to point to the new server but I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to wait for the new DNS record to propagate. Putting the code on both hosts would not work for me since the app writes to a database pretty frequently. I thought about just using a meta redirect or php redirect on the old host to redirect to the new host ip but was wondering if there's a better more accepted way of doing this.

  • Can't checkin to Facebook Places by post to api?

    Hey everybody, I am trying to build an app where I let my registered user be able to check in to places on Facebook Places. I however for some reason can't seem to make this work.   • SVG as CSS background for website navigation-bar

    I drew a small (horizontal / in width) svg to be the background of my website's navigation. My website's navigation takes place a 100% of the browser's viewport and I want the svg image to fill that 100% space. So, using css I set the background of the navigation (.nav) to nav.svg but then I saw (whenI opened the html file in a browser) that the svg was not the full-width of the nav, but at the small width I drew it at. How can I get the SVG to stretch and fill the entire width of the navigation (100% of the page) ?   • importing pywiiuse to test out

    This is probably a simple problem. But I downloaded the pywiiuse library from here and I also downloaded the examples. However when I try to run one of the examples I end up with import issues. I'm not certain I have everything configured properly to run.     I have defined a StringCollection in the Project Settings. I want to use the values in a ComboBox. Is there a way to access it xamly? I tried: <CollectionViewSource Source="{x:Static src:MySettings.Default.MyCollection}" /> <CollectionViewSource x:Key="RoomSections" Source="{x:Static src:MySettings.Default.RoomSections}" /> *src is the xmlns of the project It says: "Type src:MySettings.Default was not found". The thing is that MySettings is a class that offers a Default property which is a thread-safe instance of MySettings, I really want to get the collection from the Default property and not by instantiating a new on. Is there other ways I am not aware of, maybe ObjectDataProvider can access static objects? I thought, maybe I can make in the App.xaml a global resource that return MySettings.Default which is an instance of the MySettings class, and then access all its properties, I will try that out, but I prefer the easy way.

  • Breaking a concave polygon into convex ones.

    I'm using a game physics library (Box2D) which only supports convex polygon shapes. However, I'd like the level builder to be able to just specify concave polygons without having to worry about that. So, how can I automatically break apart a concave polygon into convex ones (or even all triangles). Speed would be cool, but ease of implementation is more important. The breaking apart will only be done on game initialization. (My language is Flash/ActionScript 3, but that shouldn't matter)

  • jna call to kernel32.CreateToolhelp32Snapshot in shutdown hook crashes the VM

    If a thread sets a shutdown hook using Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook(); calls via jna the method: kernel32.CreateToolhelp32Snapshot (0x00000002, 0) it crashes the VM. If I call the same method in the WindowListener.windowClosing() hook, the call does not crashes the VM. Any idea why? Are there additional parameters that I can add to the authorize.php url to specify authorizing the PAGE and not just my profile? Or, are there better ways to post updates to Fan Page Walls? Thanks!

    This question is similar in spirit to : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/492178/links-between-personality-types-and-language-technology-preferences But it is based specifically on indentation (spaces vs tabs and the number of spaces). The reason I am asking here instead of searching is because I remember seeing a specific document writing about this. If I remember correctly, it also talked about why Linus prefers eight spaces.

  • Automatically tidy up JSP/JSF files

    Hi, I am working on a webapplication and I do most of the XHTML stuff in an editor. Every once in a while I froget to close a tag or mess up the nesting (we all get distracted sometimes ;-)). So I commpile, package and run my webapp (using maven mvn clean package jetty:run-war only to notice that displaying the view (where I messed up the jsp) fails with an exception while trying to render. So I wondered: Is there some tool that I can include into my build-cycle that automatically catches and rectifies those careless mistakes?

  • Gantt Chart online

    I need to insert a horizontal bar chart in a web page. The thing I have to do is very similar to a Gantt Chart. I'd like to use a javascript library for the purpose. I tried jsgantt, but actually it is not very beautiful. I could evaluate also a server generation of the graph. In case my server side language is Python. It will be part of an internal project with no internet access, so Google Charts isn't an option.
