• Help -- trying to build Apache ODE source code with Buildr

  Hi, i am trying to build APACHE ODE source code with Buildr using Ruby. • JBossCacheService: exception occurred in cache put error occurred after changing cache mode to REPL_

  Hi, we have a horizontal cluster set up on JBoss 4.2. The session replication worked fine until we changed cache mode from REPL_ASYNC to REPL_SYNC to fix a issue. We started to see warning for some session failovers: [org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.InstantSnapshotManager.ROOT] Failed to replicate session java.lang.RuntimeException bc [local7.warning] JBossCacheService: exception occurred in cache put ... org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.JBossCacheWrapper.put(JBossCacheWrapper.java:147) org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.JBossCacheService.putSession(JBossCacheService.java:315) org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.session.JBossCacheClusteredSession.processSessionRepl(JBossCacheClusteredSession.java:125) Does anyone have any idea why this happen and how to fix it if we want to still use REPL_SYNC? • Problem using Hibernate-Search

  Hi, I am using hibernate search for my application. It is well configured and running perfectly till some time back, when it stopped working suddenly. The reason according to me being the number of my model (bean) classes. I have some 90 classes, which I add to my configuration, while building my Hibernate Configuration. When, I disable hibernate search (remove the search annotations and use Configuration instead of AnnotationsConfiguration), I try to start my application, it Works fine. But,the same app when I enable search, it just hangs up. I tried debugging and found the exact place where it hangs. After adding all the class to my AnnotationsConfiguration object, when I say cfg.buildSessionfactory(), It never comes out of that statement. (I have waited for hours!!!) Also when I decrease the number of my model classes (like say to half i.e. 50) it comes out of that statement and the application works fine.. Can Someone tell why is this happening?? My versions of hibernate are: hibernate-core-3.3.1.GA.jar hibernate-annotations-3.4.0.GA.jar hibernate-commons-annotations-3.1.0.GA.jar hibernate-search-3.1.0.GA.jar Also if need to avoid using AnnotationsConfiguration, I read that I need to configure the search event listeners explicitly.. can anyone list all the neccessary listeners and their respective classes? • In SQL Server can I insert multiple nodes into XML from a table?

  I want to generate some XML in a stored procedure based on data in a table. The following insert allows me to add many nodes but they have to be hard-coded or use variables (sql:variable): SET @MyXml.modify(' insert <myNode> {sql:variable("@MyVariable")} </myNode> into (/root[1]) ') So I could loop through each record in my table, put the values I need into variables and execute the above statement. But is there a way I can do this by just combining with a select statement and avoiding the loop? Edit I have used SELECT FOR XML to do similar stuff before but I always find it hard to read when working with a hierarchy of data from multiple tables. I was hoping there would be something using the modify where the XML generated is more explicit and more controllable.

• Trouble setting a default controller in MVC 2 RC Area

  This should be simple, but alas... I've set up an Admin area within my MVC 2 project (single project areas). I've created a couple controllers and their respective view folders. In the AreaRegistration.RegisterArea method, I've specified that I want the default controller to be "Dashboard": public override void RegisterArea(AreaRegistrationContext context) { context.MapRoute( "Admin_default", "Admin/{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Dashboard", action = "Index", id = "" }, new string[] { "Admin" } ); } If I navigate to url/Admin/Dashboard, the index comes up just fine. What I want, though, is to allow the user to go to url/Admin/ and see the same thing. When I do this, however, I get "The resource cannot be found". I'm just getting my feet wet with MVC 2's Area implementation, and I don't think I'm doing anything overly complicated... Anyone had the same problem? Do I need to specify a separate route, perhaps at the root, non-area level?

Understand the beauty of creating layout in XML file, but lost how to access various elements, especially a View element to draw on it. Catching button events and responding to, for example changing title bar text and changing View background color works fine, but how the heck do I access and more importantly draw on the view defined in main.xml UPDATE: That for your suggestion, however besides that I need a View, not ImageView and you are missing a parameter on canvas.drawText and an ending bracket, it does not work. Now this is most likely because you missed the fact that I am a newbie and assuming I can fill in any blanks. I hope somebody can break this down for me and provide a solution, and perhaps explain why I can't just create a View element in my main.xml layotu file and draw on it in code.

• Opencart Installation and Display Errors

  Hello, I need a bit of help installing a copy of Opencart onto my Godaddy hosting. I have had one major problem and that was, after during and after the install, none of the styles or images where appearing. I was able to completely fix the admin panel, but I am now running into problems with the frontend. I was able to fix the styles by editing a couple lines in the index.php file: define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://' . $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] .'/opencart/'); define('HTTP_IMAGE', 'http://jpoles1.com/image/'); Now the problem is that unless you are on the base url http://jpoles1.com/opencart/, none of the database functionality works. For example the brands dropdown on the left will only be populated on the root page. Am I going about this problem the wrong way? What should I do to fix this problem? -- Thanks, Jordan

  I've got several Web apps running on a Tomcat 5.5 server, and I'm working on improving/updating the overall logging system used throughout the system. I already had some success with logback-classic. However, when I try to use logback-access (i.e. access the lbAccessStatus servlet), I get this exception: exception javax.servlet.ServletException: Wrapper cannot find servlet class ch.qos.logback.access.ViewStatusMessagesServlet or a class it depends on org.apache.catalina.authenticator.AuthenticatorBase.invoke(AuthenticatorBase.java:433) ... root cause java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ch.qos.logback.access.ViewStatusMessagesServlet org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.loadClass(WebappClassLoader.java:1386) ... I have everything set up according to the docs: common/lib: logback-classic-0.9.15.jar logback-core-0.9.15.jar server/lib: logback-access-0.9.15.jar Moving around the libraries doesn't seem to help. logback-classic seems to work fine, it's just logback-access that causes problems.

If i create the repository on the root of the svn folder i can see the repository (http://domain.com/code/t1) when i try the other urls i get the error Could not open the requested SVN filesystem My question is, It is possible to do a search in all subfolders looking for svn repositories?

  i have successfully configured sphinx4 with eclipse. for that these steps i have used. copy my java and config files to SRC folder all the necessary jar files (in the lib). the lib folder added to the root of the project build those jar files (jsapi files too) change the configuration file and give the proper path test the java file but in Netbeans i really dont understand how to do the proper steps. can someone help me. the jar files should be added to "Libraries" rite. then after adding them how to build them. in the netbeans it dont show a SRC folder. so all the java files and configuration files should go to Source Packages folder rite. can someone help me with this. please

• errors deploying an EAR with EJBs 2.1 into JBoss AS5

  Hi, I'm porting an application with EJBs 2.1 from Weblogic9 to JBoss AS5. I have made some of the changes like adding jboss.xml descriptors to EJBs and fixing application.xml of the EAR, but there are still problems when deploying the EAR. Is this a problem with parsing the jboss_2_4.dtd itself? or is it something worng with my descriptors for the EJB? When I try to validate the jboss_2_4.dtd in an XML editor it does complain about a syntax error at line 94:1 , which is the beginning of the first declaration, although it looks fine. Any ideas? • python-pam & pam_time module -- possible to check a user without password?

  I've looked at the example script of python-pam and linux pam pages, but it's a bit confusing, at least for a beginner in PAM (that I am): http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs/pam/Linux-PAM-html/Linux-PAM_ADG.html http://packages.ubuntu.com/python-pam Is it possible to check if a user has or does not have access to login, without entering password? I would like to create a script that root can use to check if a user is allowed or not to login to the system. If so, can someone post an example that checks if the user is allowed against pam_time? • How to generate a client certificate using a third party CA-NOT Self Signed CA

  I am trying to trying to export a client certificate for use with a web browser. The goal is to restrict access using the <Location directive to the admin area. I have seen numerous tutorials on using self signed CAs. How would you do this using a third party? 1) Do I need to include the CA in the client pfx if it is a trusted root CA? I have seen both examples. Without CA: openssl pkcs12 -export -inkey KEYFILENAME -in CERTFILEFILENAME -out XXX.pfx With CA: openssl pkcs12 -export -in my.crt- inkey my.key -certfile my.bundle -out my.pfx 2) Do I need to still include SSLCACertificateFile for trusted CA in the httpd.conf setup? The following information may or may not be relevant: I tried to install Git 1.7.0.3 on SunOS 5.9 (Solaris 9) in a directory in my account. The gcc version is 3.4.2 (older then the version of 3.4.6 stated by sunfreeware.com). I don't have root privileges.

• Data Structure Behind Amazon S3s Keys (Filtering Data Structure)

  I'd like to implement a data structure similar to the lookup functionality of Amazon S3. For those of you who don't know what I'm taking about, Amazon S3 stores all files at the root, but allows you to look up groups of files by common prefixes in their names, therefore replicating the power of a directory tree without the complexity of it. The catch is, both lookup and filter operations are O(1) (or close enough that even on very large buckets - S3's disk equivalents - both operations might as well be O(1))). So in short, I'm looking for a data structure that functions like a hash map, with the added benefit of efficient (at the very least not O(n)) filtering. The best I can come up with is extending HashMap so that it also contains a (sorted) list of contents, and doing a binary search for the range that matches the prefix, and returning that set. This seems slow to me, but I can't think of any other way to do it. Does anyone know either how Amazon does it, or a better way to implement this data structure?

• How do you work out the IIS Virtual Path for an application?

  When I try to change the ASP.NET version to v4 on IIS 6, I receive the following warning: Changing the Framework version requires a restart of the W3SVC service. Alternatively, you can change the Framework version without restarting the W3SVC service by running: aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s IIS-Viirtual-Path Do you want to continue (this will change the Framework version and restart the W3SVC service)? How do I work out IIS-Virtual-Path? I have tried the obvious paths i.e.: aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s "/WebSites/Extranet/AppName" Where WebSites is the name of the folder in IIS, Extranet the name of the root app and AppName the name of the Virtual Directory application I am trying to change. Thanks! Edit: How do I work out the virtual path for the Auth virtual directory in following IIS6 setup: I have tried: aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s "/Web Sites/Extranet/Auth" aspnet_regiis.exe -norestart -s "Auth" I get: Installation stopped because the specified path (WhateverIPutIn) is invalid.

• Python CGI on Amazon AWS EC2 micro-instance -- a how-to!

  How can you make an EC2 micro instance serve CGI scripts from lighthttpd? For instance Python CGI? Well, it took half a day, but I have gotten Python cgi running on a free Amazon AWS EC2 micro-instance, using the lighttpd server. I think it will help my fellow noobs to put all the steps in one place. Armed with the simple steps below, it will take you only 15 minutes to set things up! My question for the more experienced users reading this is: Are there any security flaws in what I've done? (See file and directory permissions.) Step 1: Start your EC2 instance and ssh into it. [Obviously, you'll need to sign up for Amazon EC2 and save your key pairs to a *.pem file. I won't go over this, as Amazon tells you how to do it.] Sign into your AWS account and start your EC2 instance. The web has tutorials on doing this. Notice that default instance-size that Amazon presents to you is "small." This is not "micro" and so it will cost you money. Be sure to manually choose "micro." (Micro instances are free only for the first year...) Find the public DNS code for your running instance. To do this, click on the instance in the top pane of the dashboard and you'll eventually see the "Public DNS" field populated in the bottom pane. (You may need to fiddle a bit.) The Public DNS looks something like: ec2-174-129-110-23.compute-1.amazonaws.com Start your Unix console program. (On Max OS X, it's called Terminal, and lives in the Applications - Utilities folder.) cd to the directory on your desktop system that has your *.pem file containing your AWS keypairs. ssh to your EC2 instance using a command like: ssh -i <<your *.pem filename>> ec2-user@<< Public DNS address >> So, for me, this was: ssh -i amzn_ec2_keypair.pem [email protected] Your EC2 instance should let you in. Step 2: Download lighttpd to your EC2 instance. To install lighttpd, you will need root access on your EC2 instance. The problem is: Amazon will not let you sign in as root. (Not straightforwardly, at least.) But there is a workaround. Type this command: sudo /bin/bash The system prompt-character will change from $ to #. We won't exit from "sudo" until the very last step in this whole process. Install the lighttpd application (version 1.4.28-1.3.amzn1 for me): yum install lighttpd Install the FastCGI libraries for lighttpd (not needed, but why not?): yum install lighttpd-fastcgi Test that your server is working: /etc/init.d/lighttpd start Step 3: Let the outside world see your server. If you now tried to hit your server from the browser on your desktop, it would fail. The reason: By default, Amazon AWS does not open any ports to your EC2 instance. So, you have to open the ports manually. Go to your EC2 dashboard in your desktop's browser. Click on "Security Groups" in the left pane. One or more security groups will appear in the upper right pane. Choose the one that was assigned to your EC2 instance when you launched your instance. A table called "Allowed Connections" will appear in the lower right pane. A pop-up menu will let you choose "HTTP" as the connection method. The other values in that line of the table should be: tcp, 80, 80, 0.0.0.0/0 Now hit your EC2 instance's server from the desktop in your browser. Use the Public DNS address that you used earlier to SSH in. You should see the lighttpd generic web page. If you don't, I can't help you because I am such a noob. :-( Step 4: Configure lighttpd to serve CGI. Back in the console program, cd to the configuration directory for lighttpd: cd /etc/lighttpd To enable CGI, you want to uncomment one line in the < modules.conf file. (I could have enabled Fast CGI, but baby steps are best!) You can do this with the "ed" editor as follows: ed modules.conf /include "conf.d\/cgi.conf"/ s/#// w q Create the directory where CGI programs will live. (The /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf file determines where this will be.) We'll create our directory in the default location, so we don't have to do any editing of configuration files: cd /var/www/lighttpd mkdir cgi-bin chmod 755 cgi-bin Almost there! Of course you need to put a test CGI program into the cgi-bin directory. Here is one: cd cgi-bin ed a #!/usr/bin/python print "Content-type: text/html\n\n" print "<html><body>Hello, pyworld.</body></html>" . w hellopyworld.py q chmod 655 hellopyworld.py Restart your lighttpd server: /etc/init.d/lighttpd restart Test your CGI program. In your desktop's browser, hit this URL, substituting your EC2 instance's public DNS address: http://<<Public DNS>>/cgi-bin/hellopyworld.py For me, this was: http://ec2-174-129-110-23.compute-1.amazonaws.com/cgi-bin/hellopyworld.py Step 5: That's it! Clean up, and give thanks! • Get the UIWindow which is under the UIActionSheet

  I am trying to present a new UIViewController on top of the current current UIViewController. Here is the line of code that creates the desired effect: LoginViewController *loginViewController = [[LoginViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LoginViewController" bundle:nil]; UIViewController *rootController = [[[UIApplication sharedApplication] keyWindow] rootViewController]; [rootController presentViewController:loginViewController animated:YES completion:nil]; The problem is that I added an UIActionSheet which asks the user to confirm the desired action (which is to log out). When the user confirms the action I run the above mentioned peace of code, but the UIActionSheet is still the keyWindow. Therefore the LoginViewController is not presented on top (the rootController is null when I try to debug). My question is: Can I somehow find the UIWindow which is under the UIActionSheet and from there get the root controller,or maybe I can dismiss programmatically the UIActionSheet when the users selects the log out action and only then execute the above code? • Using sub-repo with hgwebdir difficulties in mercurial

  Allright I got myself in a deadlock with Mercurial and sub-repos... Here's what happenend: I had a large mercurial repo that I server via apache and hgweb.cgi. Due to the size of the repo I decided to move to sub-repositories and share these with hgwebdir.cgi. Using the convert tool with the filemap option I created several sub-repositories: /main/foo /main/bar Nicely created an entry for the sub-repositories in .hgsub: foo = foo bar = bar And set hgwebdir.cgi up to show $/** as the root folder. Now when I went to my site (foo.com/hg) I saw my sub-repositories with one empty reposory among them (no name, no content), but I could not download it (archive location unknown): That was allright until I added a new sub-repository. I could not push the new .hgsub file to foo.com/hg, since that page is served by hgwebdir. The only method I can work currently is switch from hgwebdir to hgweb, commit .hgsubste and switch back to hgwebdir. Does someone have a good setup for such a mess?

• Do passwords used for .htaccess need to be encrypted?

  I am using .htaccess files to control access to various Apache2 directories. I have a main "password" file that contains usernames and passwords. All the instructions I have found regarding .htaccess talk about how the passwords added are encrypted. The usernames and passwords are created using the following command line syntax ... htpasswd -nb username password What I am wondering is ... do the passwords always need to be encrypted? Could I store usernames and passwords in a plain-text form someonewhere on the system (above the web root)? This would allow me to easily edit user names and passwords via FTP without requiring access to the Shelll (which I do not always have). Thank you.

• Navigation bar's buttons tint color sometimes not set

  Refer to the following, short video: http://screencast.com/t/cmnsqVTh The problem is with the color of a navigation bar's back button. The first time I load the app, the navigation bar + its buttons have the default color. I then push a view controller on the stack, and when the new view loads (in the viewDidLoad method), it sets the navigation bar's tint color to pink. The nav bar's buttons are also pink as expected. I then press the back button, and the view is popped from the stack. On the root view controller's viewWillAppear method I set the tint color back to nil so that it's the default color again. The navigation bar looks as expected. However if I push the view controller on the stack yet again, the navigation bar's tint color is pink, but the back button's color is the default light blue. Hope that was understandable. So what's the cause of the problem?
