  I tried to deploy the sample application from this tutorial: http://united-coders.com/phillip-steffensen/developing-a-simple-soap-webservice-using-spring-30-apache-cxf-226-and-maven-2 In eclipse everything works fine, but i went to troubles when deploying the service. The cxf-java2ws-plugin throws a ClassNotFoundException for org.springframework.core.NestedRuntimeException. • iText PDFReader Extremely Slow To Open

  I have some code that combines a few pages of acro forms (with acrofields in tact) and then at the end writes some JS to the entire document. It is the PdfReader in the function adding the JS that is taking extremely long to instantiate (about 12 seconds for a 1MB file). Here is the code (pretty simple): public static byte[] AddJavascript(byte[] document, string js) { PdfReader reader = new PdfReader(new RandomAccessFileOrArray(document), null); MemoryStream msOutput = new MemoryStream(); PdfStamper stamper = new PdfStamper(reader, msOutput); PdfWriter writer = stamper.Writer; writer.AddJavaScript(js); stamper.Close(); reader.Close(); byte[] withJS = msOutput.GetBuffer(); return withJS; } I have benchmarked the above and the line that is slow is the first one. I have tried reading it from a file instead of memory and tried using a MemoryStream instead of the RandomAccessFileOrArray. Nothing makes it any faster. If I add JS to a single page document, it is very fast. So my thought is that the code that combines the pages is somehow making the PDF slow to read for the PdfReader. Here is the combine code: public static byte[] CombineFiles(List<byte[]> sourceFiles) { MemoryStream output = new MemoryStream(); PdfCopyFields copier = new PdfCopyFields(output); try { output.Position = 0; foreach (var fileBytes in sourceFiles) { PdfReader fileReader = new PdfReader(fileBytes); copier.AddDocument(fileReader); } } catch (Exception exception) { //throw } finally { copier.Close(); } byte[] concat = output.GetBuffer(); return concat; } I am using PdfCopyFields because I need to preserve the form fields and so cannot use the PdfCopy or PdfSmartCopy. This combine code is very fast (few ms) and produces working documents. The AddJS code above is called after it and the PdfReader open is the slow piece. Any ideas?

• Difference between GL10 and GLES10 on Android

  The GLSurfaceView.Renderer interface of the Android SDK gives me a GL interface as parameter which has the type GL10. This interface is implemented by some private internal jni wrapper class. But there is also the class GLES10 where all the GL methods are available as static methods. Is there an important difference between them? So what if I ignore the gl parameter of onDrawFrame and instead use the static methods of GLES10 everywhere? Here is an example. Instead of doing this: void onDrawFrame(GL10 gl) { drawSomething(gl); } void drawSomething(GL10 gl) { gl.glLoadIdentity(); ... } I could do this: void onDrawFrame(GL10 gl) { drawSomething(); } void drawSomething() { GLES10.glLoadIdentity(); ... } The advantage is that I don't have to pass the GL context to all called methods. But even it it works (And it works, I tried it) I wonder if there are any disadvantages and reasons to NOT do it like that.

• Entity Framework lazy loading doesn't work from other thread

  Hi, I just found out that lazy loading in Entity Framework only works from the thread that created the ObjectContext. To illustrate the problem, I did a simple test, with a simple model containing just 2 entities : Person and Address. Here's the code : private static void TestSingleThread() { using (var context = new TestDBContext()) { foreach (var p in context.Person) { Console.WriteLine("{0} lives in {1}.", p.Name, p.Address.City); } } } private static void TestMultiThread() { using (var context = new TestDBContext()) { foreach (var p in context.Person) { Person p2 = p; // to avoid capturing the loop variable ThreadPool.QueueUserWorkItem( arg => { Console.WriteLine("{0} lives in {1}.", p2.Name, p2.Address.City); }); } } } The TestSingleThread method works fine, the Address property is lazily loaded. But in TestMultiThread, I get a NullReferenceException on p2.Address.City, because p2.Address is null. It that a bug ? Is this the way it's supposed to work ? If so, is there any documentation mentioning it ? I couldn't find anything on the subject on MSDN or Google... And more importantly, is there a workaround ? (other than explicitly calling LoadProperty from the worker thread...) Any help would be very appreciated PS: I'm using VS2010, so it's EF 4.0. I don't know if it was the same in the previous version of EF...

  I have a Windows Forms app that itself launches different threads to do different kinds of work. Occasionally, ALL threads (including the UI thread) become frozen, and my app becomes unresponsive. I've decided it may be a Garbage Collector-related issue, as the GC will freeze all managed threads temporarily. • Java synchronized seems ignored

  Hi, I've got the following code, which I expected to deadlock after printing out "Main: pre-sync". But it looks like synchronized doesn't do what I expect it to. What happens here? import java.util.*; public class deadtest { public static class waiter implements Runnable { Object obj; public waiter(Object obj) { this.obj = obj; } public void run() { System.err.println("Thead: pre-sync"); synchronized(obj) { System.err.println("Thead: pre-wait"); try { obj.wait(); } catch (Exception e) { } System.err.println("Thead: post-wait"); } System.err.println("Thead: post-sync"); } } public static void main(String args[]) { Object obj = new Object(); System.err.println("Main: pre-spawn"); Thread waiterThread = new Thread(new waiter(obj)); waiterThread.start(); try { Thread.sleep(1000); } catch (Exception e) { } System.err.println("Main: pre-sync"); synchronized(obj) { System.err.println("Main: pre-notify"); obj.notify(); System.err.println("Main: post-notify"); } System.err.println("Main: post-sync"); try { waiterThread.join(); } catch (Exception e) { } } } Since both threads synchronize on the created object, I expected the threads to actually block each other. Currently, the code happily notifies the other thread, joins and exits.

• Does multiple cpp files correspond to multiple compilation units?

  Hello All, Suppose, we have a big Class. and we don't want to break it. In order to maintain code suppose we have created a multiple example1.cpp, example2.cpp, example3.cpp files for single example.h file for class cexample. Does this correspond to multiple compilations units? What is the best approach to handle such big classes? Any suggestions and comments are appreciated. Thank you, RAHUL

  Kohana 3.2 was designed to support the HMVC design pattern. The HMVC pattern consists of nested MVC-triads. Yet as far as I can tell, Kohana's cascading file system requires all Models and Controllers to be placed within a top 'classes' directory, and Views into a top 'views' directory. If Model/Controllers are thus separated from Views at the top level of the file system, then how are we supposed to implement nested MVC-triads?

  I'm fairly new to using the OutputCache attribute in ASP.NET MVC. Static Pages I've enabled it on static pages on my site with code such as the following: [OutputCache(Duration = 7200, VaryByParam = "None")] public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { //... If I understand correctly, I made the whole controller cache for 7200 seconds (2 hours). Dynamic Pages However, how does it work with dynamic pages? By dynamic, I mean where the user has to submit a form. As an example, I have a page with an email form.
