• How do I easily change hardcoded links to a file in Excel?

  I have a project where I maintain a list of all my students and their information in an Excel file labeled "BigList.xlsx". Then, I have about 40-50 other separate ancillary excel files that link to BigList by using vLookup. For example, in cell A1 of an ancillary file you might see a formula that looks like this: =Vlookup(B3, 'c:\documents and settings\user\desktop[BigList.xlsx]Sheet1'!$a$1:$b$10000,2,false). The vlookup link above references BigList.xlsx. However, I just realized that I need to change that file name to something else, like MasterDatabase.xlsm (notice the different extension). Is there an easy way to do this without having to manually go through all 40-50 files and doing a find & replace? I think the basic idea is to change a hardcoded link into a dynamic one where I can change the filename of BigList.xlsx anytime, and not have to go back through all 40-50 files to update their links.

A company can have its network like inverstors, partners, competitors and customers etc. I want to realize a dynamic social networking graph for it. And it has to be implemented by php. Right now, i know SugarCRM and vTigerCRM are php open source CRMs. And SugarCRM provides some social functions. And there are a lot of other CRMs, while i'm not sure if they are realized by php, such as: ACT!, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle Siebel Social CRM, Salesforce, BatchBlue, Buzzient etc. Do you know any other php CRMs, especially php social CRMs? • Online Image Slideshow Question. File Access Problems.

  Hi, I have a flash .swf file that I embed on my webpage. On my server I have the .swf file and multiple image folders. I would like to load every file in one of those folders into the flash slideshow. How should I go about doing this? I tried used Air but it doesn't work on my system as an application so I doubt it will work online. Eventually I plan on making a menu where you can select different folders to display and since they are of different sizes, a foreach loop would be optimal. Keeping a txt file with the number of images is also possible if theres a way to read that in, but I would prefer the more dynamic approach. I am working towards using php for the website if that helps find a solution. Thanks, -Mike Also my slideshow works great online currently but i have to hardcode in the number of files.

Now am retrieving data from address page to main page by using a session variable which stores a data table of values. Two different Session variables are this way used for permanent and temporary addresses.. Using session variable degrades the performance i know..   I've been using C on some projects for a master's degree but have never built production software with it. (.NET & Javascript are my bread and butter.) Obviously, the need to free() memory that you malloc() is critical in C. This is fine, well and good if you can do both in one routine. But as programs grow, and structs deepen, keeping track of what's been malloc'd where and what's appropriate to free gets harder and harder. I've looked around on the interwebs and only found a few generic recommendations for this. What I suspect is that some of you long-time C coders have come up with your own patterns and practices to simplify this process and keep the evil in front of you. So: how do you recommend structuring your C programs to keep dynamic allocations from becoming memory leaks?

  I have slightly adapted the custom behavior code that can be found here: http://www.reflectionit.nl/blog/default.aspx?guid=d81a8cf8-0345-48ee-bbde-84c2e3f21a25 that controls a MediaElement. I need to know how to go about testing this with Rhino Mocks e.g. how to instantiate a new ControlMediaElementAction in test code and then call the Invoke method etc. Doing something simple like this in test code: mMediaElementControlBehaviour = new ControlMediaElementAction (); gives me an exception "The type initializer for 'System.Windows.DependencyObject' throw an exception. Thinking it was the instantiation of the MediaElement, I tried this two lines of code: MediaElement mediaElementStub = MockRepository.GenerateStub(); this.Container.RegisterInstance(mediaElementStub); This gave the exception 'Can't create mocks of sealed classes' If someone can point me in the right direction, it would be apreciated. • Catch $.getJSON error

  I've been trying to figure this out for hours. I have a DYNAMIC youtube search, which I use Youtube's JSON api for. It works usually, but there are times that it won't find anything. Is there a way to figure out if it finds nothing, and then end the function because otherwise it stops the entire code. I tried jsonp, but that didn't seem to be correct. Somewhere I read that error catching is built into the newest jQuery getJSON, but I couldn't find it. The code is really tedious so I'd rather not post it unless it comes to that. • IIS7 301 Redirect from a List of URLs

  Recent changes are forcing me to add a bunch of 301 redirects. Seems that IIS7 is my best bet as compared to redirects within the files. I have found how to add them 1 by 1 but this requires the page/folder to exist (which most don't anymore(and creating them seems to defeat the point of the redirect)) and does not work on dynamic urls. I also cannot go to every page and add the redirects at the page level because some older pages are in php which is no longer supported on the new server.   Hi, I have an NSWindowController and I initialize it like this; + (MyWindowController *) sharedController { static MyWindowController *singleton = nil; if (!singleton) singleton = [[self alloc] initWithWindowNibName: @"myWindow"]; return singleton; } and I show windows like this; [[MyWindowController sharedController] showWindow: nil]; Now the problem is that I need information from some controls on that window. But I do not want to load the window if it's not yet loaded because then I can just go with the defaults. Should I use @property to access the singleton? or what is recommended here? (If @property, then please give me the readonly, nonatomic attributes too.)

• Is it possible to provide a resize indication (resizer-grip) on a form without adding a status bar?

  I would like to have a resize indication on a windows forms Form (the same resize-grip as when you have a status bar). I do not want to add a status bar to the form - that would break the design of the form. The form can have various controls inside that are docked (Fill). I have not found any solution to this besides drawing the resize indication in lower right corner of every control, which is not very feasible. Is this possible without adding a picture of the resize grip to every control that can be docked in the form?

  Hi, I'm starting with PHP for dynamic web pages. I have some libaries written in ANSI C for getting/setting parameters and other proprietary stuff. I wonder, is there a simple solution to use a wrapper inside PHP to call this funtions? Is there a already existing class/library? What would be the best practice to do this on my own? I don't want do make calls to external applications and use stdin/stdout! Is there a simple example available? • browser back acts on nested iframe before the page itself - is there a way to avoid it??

  hi, i have a page with dynamic data loaded by some ajax and lots of javascript. the page contains a list from which the user can choose and each selected value loads new data to the page. one of these data items is a url provided to an iframe. i use jQuery BBQ: Back Button & Query Library to simulate the browser-back behavior. all works well besides the fact that when i click the back button for the first time the iframe goes back to its previous location and then i need to click back again to make the page go back. is there a way to disable the iframe's back behavior?

I would like to know if it is possible to add Data Annotations to the member properties on one partial class where it's declared on the other Subsonic Generated one I tried this. public partial class User { [DataType(DataType.EmailAddress, ErrorMessage = "Please enter an email address")] public string Email { get; set; } ... } That examples gives the "Member is already defined" error. I think I might have seen an example a while ago of what I'm trying to do with Dynamic Data and Linq2Sql.

• Swapping an image during web development

  I'm trying to see what a certain webpage would look like if I replaced a certain image with another. Rather than upload the image, edit the site, etc, each time I tweak it, I'd like to know if there's a way to change the image in the page to my local version while viewing the remote page. I use Firebug for debugging web development usually, but I'm open to any other tool that might do this. (It is absolutely impossible to search for this and find anything but questions about dynamic image swapping on a deployed website, so sorry if this is a duplicate.)

• How do I customize what a third party MSM does?

  I'm trying to convert a project in Visual Studio 2008 from static linking of the CRT to dynamic linking. This was easy enough, and I added the CRT MSM and policy MSM to my Wix file with no problems. I am not that happy with the MSI that is output though, it is much larger than what I expected. Looking at the MSI with Orca shows three copies of the CRT DLLs that I need. From looking at the conditions, one of the sets is used for pre-XP installs. Since the system requirements are XP and later, how do I remove this component without touching the original MSM? This needs to be done in an automated build, so Orca isn't a possible solution. Plus, when I tried it with Orca, the filesize remained the same after deleting the File and Component rows. And somewhat related, how do I set the permanent attribute in the components that remain?

  In one of windows application in C# , I am using Dev Express Grid view control to bind some data and display it to user. I have custom business objects with properties defined for this purpose.Then I simple set the DataSource of the grid to the list of my custom business objects. A while ago , there came a requirement which means that the columns to be displayed on to the grid will be dynamic. This means I cannot know at design time which fields I will need to display. I was thinking of abandoning setting the DataSource and populating the grid manually by code. But I think this will cause many of the grid's features not to work properly, for example , grouping the data by drag n drop of fields to the header area etc. Is there any way to tell a grid at runtime to skip certain fields from a list of BO's when databinding to the grid ?

• WPF - Handling events from user control in View Model

  I’m building a WPF application using MVVM pattern (both are new technologies for me). I use user controls for simple bits of reusable functionality that doesn’t contain business logic, and MVVM pattern to build application logic. Suppose a view contains my user control that fires events, and I want to add an event handler to that event. That event handler should be in the view model of the view, because it contains business logic. The question is – view and the view model are connected only by binding; how do I connect an event handler using binding? Is it even possible (I suspect not)? If not – how should I handle events from a control in the view model? Maybe I should use commands or INotifyPropertyChanged?
