• CSS and control name mangling in content pages

  I have a simple website with a master-page. To set properties to elements on a content page (such as Textbox) I use CSS. In designer it works well but when I launch a site a style isn't apllied to controls. The reason is simple. To say, I have a TextBox with id="TextBox1" in content page, it is placed in ContentPlaceHolder1. In CSS file I set properties for object with id #TextBox1. When I launch a site due to master page name mangling it gets an id like ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_TextBox1 which is not defined in CSS file included in masterpage. What is a correct solution of this problem? Hardcoding mangled name doesn't seem to be good.

• Adding usercontrol each time on ButtonClick event.

  I am trying to add an instance of UserControl each time on button_click event, it works for the first time only. I am adding IDs to user control by appending integers from ViewState. Why does it not add work for subssequent clicks. • How to access Grails domain classes in Java service layer?

  How can I use grails domain classes (which is in groovy) in service layer which is in Java/Spring. When using the grails MVC, everything is fine as I can use controller to access domain objects and call CRUD and other dynamic methods on them. But, what I am wondering is is there a clean way to do it from Java - say the service layer. For example, I may want to develop a reporting framework where I need to use domain objects to access the DB. I Hope the question is clear. This should be a standard problem that everybody must have faced in a reasonably sized project. I am just wondering how it is solved..maybe I am missing something here. thanks.

• xcode - warning there's no getter/setter for property not even mentioned in the code!!

  I got the warning : property 'textField' requires method '-textField' to be defined - use @synthesize, @dynamic or provide a method implementation. Now, there is no such property defined in my project! More bizarre, if I just click save in Interface builder and build again, the build is successful - though, right on the line with '@end' the warning appears. Also weird: if I begin to write some code ..and then delete it just the way it was before writing it (maybe not code..anything) and then build&go the warning with the textField appears again. Could be a bug of sdk? What could be happening?

• navigation framework in silverlight 3 skipping constructor when usercontrol is of a derived type

  Hi: I am using the NavigationFramework in Silverlight 3, and am running into issues where the constructor of the UserControl in the xaml I am loading is not being called, and I believe this is because the UserControl in the xaml I am calling is actually derived from another user control. I have stepped through the debugger with specific break points and the constructor is being ignored completey. I have MyWindowBlue which is of type uctrlBaseMyWindow. The constructor for uctrlBaseMyWindow is being called when the xaml is 'navigated to' but the constructor for MyWindowBlue is being ignored. This is not the case if I add the user control via markup directly. Anyone else have this issue? The code I am using to navigate to the MyWindowBlue is this.MyContentFrame.Navigate(new Uri("/Controls/uctrlMyWindowBlue.xaml", UriKind.Relative)); Has anyone run into this or could offer any help? I am learning scala for the past one month and now I am comfortable working with it. The scala compiler itself is pretty slow (unless you use fsc). So how well does it perform on JVM? I previously worked on groovy and I had seen sometimes over performed than java. My Question is how well scala perform on JVM compared to Java. I know scala has some very good features(FP, dynamic lang, statically typed...) but end of the day we need the performance...

• When not to use a Drupal node?

  I've recently created a very simple CRUD table where the user stores some data. For the data, I created a custom node. The functionality works great for creating, editing, and deleting data in the CRUD table using the basic node functionality (I'm actually amazed how fast and easy it was to program the basic functionality with proper access controls using only a tiny bit of code).... Since the data isn't meant to be treated the same way as 'content' such as a blog post (no title, no body, no commments, no revisions, shouldn't show up on ?q=node page, no previews, no teasers, etc)... I find that I'm spending most of my time 'turning off' and modifying the stuff that drupal does automatically for nodes. I know its a matter of taste, but where should one draw the line on what should be treated as a node and what shouldn't? In other words, would it be better to program this stuff from scratch without using nodes?

  as i said i get this horrible error i dont really know what to do anymore float n= xAxis[i].Normalize(); thats where i get the error and i get it cuz normalize is a void function this is it void CVector::normalize() { float len=Magnitude(); this->x /= len; this->y /= len; } i need normalize to stay as void tho i tried normal casting like this float n= (float)xAxis[i].Normalize(); and it doesnt work also with static,dynamic cast,reinterpret,const cast and cant make it work any help would be really apreciated... thank you .<

• Are Java GUIs always slow to update or is it just me?

  I've just started making my first GUI application in Java and I decided to use the NetBeans IDE to do it. I think its working fine so far, except for one problem; it seems to be slow updating the content of a window. Even in very simple windows with few controls I find that when - for example - closing or resizing a window, I get the normal window border working properly but the inside is completely see through for a second. It's not the biggest deal in the world, I just find it mildly annoying.

• Under what circumstances does Groovy use AbstractConcurrentMap?

  (Specifically, org.codehaus.groovy.util.AbstractConcurrentMap) While doing some profiling of our application thats mixed Java/Groovy, I'm seeing a lot of references to the AbstractConcurrentMap class, none of which are explicit in the code base. Does groovy use this class when maps are instantiated in the groovy dynamic def myMap = [:] style? Are there rules somewhere about when groovy chooses to use this as opposed to, say, java.util.HashMap? And does anyone have any performance information comparing the two? My rough "eyeball check" says that AbstractConcurrentMap seems to be much slower - anyone know if I'm right?

• Possible to set filter on subform from parent form before subform data loads

  I have frmParentForm with multiple controls used to build a filter for frmSubForm. On frmParentForm_Load, I am doing (simplified example): Me.sbfInvoice_List.Form.filter = "[created_on] >= #" & Me.RecentOrderDateCutoff & "#" Me.sbfInvoice_List.Form.FilterOn = True The problem is, on initial load, it seems the subform load is occurring first, so the entire table is loaded. Is there a way (in a different event perhaps) to properly set the subform filter from the parent form so it is applied before the subform does its initial data load? (The subform can exist on its own, or as a child of many different parent forms (sometimes filtered, sometimes not), so I'd rather not put some complicated hack in the subform itself to accomplish this.)

• Learning Python coming from PHP

  Community wiki so don't vote to close, kthxbai. My dynamic language experience is solely PHP. I want to learn Python now to broaden my career opportunities and just because I like programming. :) When learning Java, I used a site (lost the URL/real name now), something like "Java for PHP developers" that had all on one side of the page the PHP code, and on the other side the Java code to do the same thing. I used to use SourceGear Vault, but seeing that git is getting alot of attention, I might as well familiarize myself with it. I do not always have internet access. Is Git suitable for me?   how do i set any control to the topmost of the screen. For e.g. i have a textblock in a datatemplate or a hierarchichal data template..etc... now i would like to set this textblock to the topmost on mouseover. Setting the Grid.ZIndex value to 1 in the trigger for IsMouseOver doesn't work many times. In order to do that i set the ZIndex value for all the contols to -1 in the window. it worked in one scenario but doesn't work other times. If anyone can get me the details of ZIndex and how to set the control to the topmost without worrying about the other controls, it would be of great help. Note: setting the value of ZIndex to a higher value e.g. 99999 also doesn't work.

• HTML: How to get a child element to show behind (lower z-index) than its parent

  I need for a certain dynamic element to always appear on top of another element, no matter what order in the DOM tree they are. Is this possible? I've tried z-index (with position: relative), and it doesn't seem to work. I hate to be vague, but this is the simplest way I can think of asking this question without explaining its purpose ad nauseum. So, to recap, I need <div class="a"> <div class="b"></div> </div> <div class="b"> <div class="a"></div> </div> To display exactly the same when rendered. And for flexibility purposes (I'm planning on distributing a plugin that needs this functionality), I'd really like to not have to resort to absolute or fixed positioning.

• How can I suspend \ resume the video caputre operation in v4l2 ?

  Hi, I use the v4l2 api for video capture and image applying image processing algo' on each frame. I wish to be able to suspend the video capture. I see that there are 2 options for ioctling (new verb, its gonna catch) the stream. VIDIOC_STREAMON, VIDIOC_STREAMOFF will start and stop the stream. Is there a way to suspend \ resume it? Is this even necessary, or can I just use the start and stop controls with no extra processing time spent on creating the stream all over again ? Thank you for your time, Itamar

• Capture KeyUp event on form when child control has focus

  I need to capture the KeyUp event in my form (to toggle a "full screen mode"). Here's what I'm doing: protected override void OnKeyUp(KeyEventArgs e) { base.OnKeyUp(e); if (e.KeyCode == Keys.F12) this.ToggleFullScreen(); } private void ToggleFullScreen() { // Snazzy code goes here } This works fine, unless a control on the form has focus. In that case, I don't get the event at all (also tried OnKeyDown - no luck there either). I could handle the KeyUp event from the child control, but the controls on the form are generated dynamically, and there may be many of them - each having many children of their own. Is there any way to do this without generating event handlers for every control on the screen (which I certainly could do with a recursive function)?
