• Can't find the source of an exception in Java

  Basically an exception is being thrown and I can't find the reason. When thrown nothing is painted. Another interesting thing is the timing of the throwing. I am unable to find any logical patern, as sometimes it is thrown as soon as I initiate the class and sometimes it needs more then five minutes. In addition to this, as far as I tested there is no single action that calls repaint() that triggers it or rather all do. I am new to Java and all the other exceptions had the class and row number of where they were thrown so I don't know what to do here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am attempting to use the BeanUtils library to introspect my domain models and provide the properties to display in a property sheet. You can probably derive from the error that I am just trying to convert a ruby variable to java using to_java. This works fine on my windows machine and I have confirmed the gems are the same but I don't think this has to do with gems. I lied. I changed my JAVA_HOME back on my windows machine and this error still occurs. So now the code doesn't run on either machine. I recently installed git on my windows machine and added the code to a repository. But I haven't really done anything with it. All it said was it will convert all LF to CRLF...That shouldn't change anything though should it? Any ideas on why I am now getting these errors? I haven't changed anything on my windows machine in months except for installing git.

  Ok, I'm frustrated! I've hunted around for a good number of hours and am still stumped. Environment: WinXP, Eclipse Galileo 3.5 (straight install - no extra plugins). So, I have a simple JUnit test. It runs fine from it's internal Eclipse JUnit run configuration. This class has no dependencies on anything. Now I want to take the super advanced step of running this test case from within Ant (the final goal is to integrate with Hudson).   I have a thread (class implementing runnable, called AnalyzeTree) organised around a hash map (ConcurrentMap slicesMap). The class goes through the data (called trees here) in the large text file and parses the geographical coordinates from it to the HashMap. The idea is to process one tree at a time and add or grow the values according to the key (which is just a Double value representing time). • Running code when all threads are finished processing.

  Quick note: Java and Android noob here, I'm open to you telling me I'm stupid (as long as you tell me why.) I have an android application which requires me start multiple threads originating from various classes and only advance to the next activity once all threads have done their job. I also want to add a "failsafe" timeout in case one the the threads takes too long (HTTP request taking too long or something.) I searched Stack Overflow and found a post saying that I should create a class to keep a running total of open threads and then use a timer to poll for when all the threads are completed. I think I've created a working class to do this for me, it's untested as of yet but has no errors showing in eclipse. Is this a correct implementation? • Why does this Java code not utilize all CPU cores?

  The attached simple Java code should load all available cpu core when starting it with the right parameters. So for instance, you start it with java VMTest 8 int 0 and it will start 8 threads that do nothing else than looping and adding 2 to an integer. Something that runs in registers and not even allocates new memory. The problem we are facing now is, that we do not get a 24 core machine loaded (AMD 2 sockets with 12 cores each), when running this simple program (with 24 threads of course). Similar things happen with 2 programs each 12 threads or smaller machines. So our suspicion is that the JVM (Sun JDK 6u20 on Linux x64) does not scale well. Did anyone see similar things or has the ability to run it and report whether or not it runs well on his/her machine (= 8 cores only please)? Ideas? • SPP Socket createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord will not connect

  Hello, I want to use Android 2.1 to connect to an external Bluetooth device, wich is offering an SPP port to me. In this case it is an external GPS unit. When I'm trying to connect I can't connect an established socket while being in the "client" mode. Then if I try to set up a socket (being in the server role), to RECEIVE text from my PC everything works just fine. The Computer can connect as the client to the Socket on the Phone via SPP using the SSP UUID or some random UUID. So the Problem is not that I'm using the wrong UUID. But the other way around (e.g. calling connect on the established client socket) createRfcommSocketToServiceRecord(UUID uuid)) just doesn't work. Sadly I don't have the time to inspect the problem further. It would be greate If somebody could point me the right way. In the following part of the Logfile has to be the Problem.   System is Win7x64 Pro on Core i7-920, 12GB I'm experiencing some system flakiness and am trying to pin down the cause. SMART shows zero bad sectors, zero pending reallocations on all drives Memory tests show no problems. Chkdsk fails in various different ways: When run from a normal command line (no /f option) it gets to 63% and then hangs When run on boot (autocheck) it hangs immediately on starting. Actually, the countdown timer (Press any key to skip chkdsk) gets to 1 second and the system hangs. When run from the F8 "Repair System" option (the Win7 "recovery console"), with /f, it runs to about 63% (end of stage 2) and then fails as follows:   Volume label is OS. CHKDSK is verifying files (stage 1 of 3)... 5068288 file records processed. File verification completed. 308 large file records processed. 0 bad file records processed. 2 EA records processed. 77 reparse records processed. • How to use tscon on Windows7?

  I need to run overnight automation testing using RFT and IE on Windows7 virtual machine. I found that restarting the Windows box before the testing starts helps. I am moving the production environment from Windows XP to Windows 7. RFT used to complain when running RFT scripts that CRFCN0557E: Activation failed when running under a Terminal Services environment. This may be caused by using a minimized terminal window - try playing back without minimizing the terminal window (it does not need to be full-screen). Running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console prior starting any RFT script fix the error on Windows XP. But not on Windows7. I did some research and was trying for hours to fix that but nothing helped. There is no screen saver turned on on Windows7. I tried to run both but nothing helped. tscon.exe 0 /dest:console tscon.exe 1 /dest:console On Windows7 tscon returns {ErrorPrintf(): LoadString failed, Error 15105, (0x00003B01)} Error [15105]:The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry. Error [0]:The operation completed successfully. On Windows XP tscon returns Could not connect sessionID 0 to sessionname console, Error code 7045 Error [7045]:The requested session access is denied. I just double checked that running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console on Windows XP solves the issue. Cannot understand the output of the tscon command then. Any idea how I can run RFT scripts after I restart the Windows box automatically? Preferably without involving any other computer. I was even thinking to use the old Windows XP to make remote desktop session to make RFT happy. I hope there is other better solution to that.

This is under Windows 7. (I've used TrueCrypt before, but not since XP days.) I installed TrueCrypt with default options. After taking 23 hours to format the 2TB container, it finishes with an error saying "TrueCrypt cannot obtain administrator privileges." When I click OK on that, it says it can't format the container as NTFS, do I want to format it as FAT, and I don't so I click No, and it exits with nothing to show for 23 hours of compute time. So I set the "Run as administrator flag" on the TrueCrypt shortcut, and try again. This time, when I go to format the contain (prepared to wait ANOTHER 23 hours), it pops up a dialog saying you're formatting this as administrator. "The volume may be created with permissions that will not allow you to write to the volume when it is mounted. If you want to avoid that, close this instance of Volume Creation Wizard and launch a new one without administrator privileges." Great - I can either run as non-administrator, and it will fail to create the volume at all, or I can run as administrator and create a volume I can't write to. I think I'm doing something wrong, but it's not clear to me what. Any help?

• Temp file folder full, but clearing it out doesn't seem to work

  I got this error on our build server: MSB6003: The specified task executable could not be run. MSB5003: Failed to create a temporary file. Temporary files folder is full or its path is incorrect. The directory name is invalid. [C:\Users\swdev_build\bamboo-agent-home\xml-data\build-dir\XXXX-ZZZZZZ-JOB1\build.xml] This was when trying to run and msbuild task to run our test suite. Using the power of google it seemed that this should be a problem with the %TEMP% folder running out of tmp file names apparently because a 4 digit hex name is used (for a total of 65535 temporary files). The problem is that the error persist, even after going into the %TEMP% folder and deleting everything before rebooting the machine. Does anyone know how to fix the issue and more importantly how to prevent it from happening again? What is the preferred way of cleaning up this temp files? Make it a part of the build process? Update: Actually I cleared the TEMP folder of the only local user, but since the build server is running as the SYSTEM user, it probably has some temp folder somewhere else.

• powershell v2 remoting - How do you enable unecrypted traffic

  I'm writing a powershell v2 script that I'd like to run against a remote server. When I run it, I get the error : Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : The WinRM client cannot process the request. Unencrypted traffic is currently disabled in the client configuration. Change the client configurati on and try the request again. For more information, see the about_ Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic. I looked at the online help for about _ Remote_Troubleshooting, but it didn't point me towards how to enable unecrypted traffic. Below is the script that I'm using that is causing me problems. Note: I have already run Enable-PSRemoting on the remote machine to allow it to accept incoming requests. • Android SDK emulator freezes on a Mac running OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

  I'm having trouble running the Android SDK on both of my Macs running OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard. This appears to be a 64 bit vs. 32 bit issue, as Snow Leopard now defaults to 64-bit everything, including the Java virtual machine. I found this webpage with instructions on how to get the Android tools to run in the 32-bit Java VM, and I am now able to run the Android GUI tool to download SDK files, create AVM's, etc. However, when I try the Hello World tutorial and get to the point where I run my application under the Android emulator, everything goes south. The emulator appears to start but it hangs (spinning beachball of death cursor) without displaying anything. (This only hangs the emulator; the rest of the system still works fine.) If I follow the exact same steps (minus the 32-bit java hack) in a Windows virtual machine, everything works fine. Googling didn't yield anything useful (except for the 32-bit java hack I spoke of earlier). This occurs on both my Mac Pro tower and 13" MacBook Pro. Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I start the client connect to the local DC and get an authentification error (Code 0x507). I've already done the following: • Server Setup to run as a standalone local "DC" to provide Terminal services to a single application. Remote Desktop Session Host CAL License is running & operational, RD Gateway Manager w/ Local Server RAP & CAP running NLA & operational etc..... Server has NLA & temporary use of port 3389 (which is directly connected to and accessible from the internet (I am planning to change the port to 443, but want to get the current system running first). • XP Client(s): RDP-Version on win xp clients is 6.1 If had SP2, then added SP3 and edited the registry settings to allow NLA, by: Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then press ENTER. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa In the details pane, right-click Security Packages, and then click Modify. In the Value data box, type tspkg. Leave any data that is specific to other SSPs, and then click OK. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders In the details pane, right-click SecurityProviders, and then click Modify. • How to resolve Windows Update Error 8024402F on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit?

  I have been having the same problem with Windows Updates on 2 of my machines at home, both running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. One of the 2 machines is a brand new install, the other has run Windows Update in the past, but is also not working now. When I manually check for updates using the Control Panel, I get error code 8024402F: I followed the link to "Get help with this error", which brings up several articles in Windows Help and Support, none of which are for this specific error code. From the help and general googling I've tried: Checking internet connectivity. Most of the help suggests that this error is caused by a general internet connectivity problem. But if you're reading this, my connection is definitely working fine. Disabling antivirus temporarily and trying to run Windows Update. This didn't help (I run AVG free) Running Control Panel - Troubleshooting - Security Systems - Fix Problems with Windows Update. This said it detected and resolved problems, but didn't help. Update using IE (as I used to in XP). Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ redirects me to http://test.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx for which IE displays a "connection problem" (i.e. site unreachable) I've had the same problem for 24 hours now, so surely the Windows Update servers haven't been down this whole time? A quick check on twitter shows no worldwide outcry about Windows Update being unavailable, so is it just me? • Restarting Haproxy Gracefully

  As per various blogs, HAproxy can be gracefully restarted using the following command: sudo haproxy -f /etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg -p /var/run/haproxy.pid -sf $(cat /var/run/haproxy.pid) TO verify this, I had set up a apache bench script which contiguously sent message to haproxy. Ideally, whenever I restarted my server the script should not have an affect on the apache bunch execiton. But, it seems that whenever Haproxy is restarted apache bench scripts terminate and the connection to load balancer is lost. • WS2008 subst in Logon script does not "stick"

  I have a terminal server environment exclusively with Windows Server 2008. My problem is that I need to "map" a drive letter to each users Temp folder. This is due to a legacy app that requries a separate Temp folder for each user but which does not understand %temp%. So, just add "subst t: %temp%" to the logon script, right? The problem is that, even though the command runs, the subst doesn't "stick" and the user doesn't get a T: drive. Here is what I have tried; The simplest version: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WinShell.Run "subst T: %temp%", 2, True That didn't work, so tried this for more debug information: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") Set procEnv = WinShell.Environment("Process") wscript.echo(procEnv("TEMP")) tempDir = procEnv("TEMP") WinShell.Run "subst T: " & tempDir, 3, True This shows me the correct temp path when the user logs in - but still no T: Drive. Decided to resort to brute force and put this in my login script: 'Mapping a temp drive Set WinShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell") WinShell.Run "\\domain\sysvol\esl.hosted\scripts\tempdir.cmd", 3, True where \domain\sysvol\esl.hosted\scripts\tempdir.cmd has this content: echo on subst t: %temp% pause When I log in with the above then the command window opens up and I can see the subst command being executed correctly, with the correct path. But still no T: drive. I have tried running all of the above scripts outside of a login script and they always work perfectly - this problem only occurs when doing it from inside a login script. I found a passing reference on an MSFN forum about a similar problem when the user is already logged on to another machine - but I have this problem even without being logged on to another machine. Any suggestion on how to overcome this will be much appreciated.
