• Mandatory profile on Terminal server fails to load. Userenv.log debug

  Hi, We're having a lot of corrupted profiles lately on our profile share. At the moment I have no clue why, but I decided to switch to one mandatory profile since the users can all use the same and there is no need to have seperate profiles for each user. Here's what I did. I logged into the Terminal server with a new user and configured some stuff (imported certificates and a few files). Then I logged out. Later as admin I copied the profile to another server and renamed it to bsilo. I made sure the user hive settings were adjusted. Everyone had access to the hive. I shared the bsilo folder with full access for everyone. I set the NTFS permissions to read, read & execute, list folder contents for domain users. I also renamed NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN. Now I set a env variable %manprofile% on the Terminal server that points to \server\bsilo\ntuser.man I set the env var as terminal services profile path for a test user. When I log in I as the user get the following output The system cannot find the path specified. Can somebody point me in the right direction. • Monitor uSWGI via Nagios: invalid socket

  I'm trying to monitor uSWGI via Nagios, but according to uWSGI I have specified an invalid socket. The socket path I got from the JSON config file which also says chmod-socket: 666 so I have a hunch that the problem is permission based.   I'm using PowerPoint 2003. Does anyone know how to embed a video in a PowerPoint presentation in such a way that it can be moved to another computer? Possible solutions I'm considering: Actually embed the video file into the powerpoint file. This would be ideal, but I don't know how to do this. Insert a reference to the video into the presentation. I need this to be a relative path, though, not an absolute path.

• configuring slime in emacs

  I am in the process of configuring slime for emacs. So far I have read about basic functionality for common lisp such as C-c C-q which invokes the command slime-close-parens-at-point which places the proper number of parens where your mouse is. Another command that seemed cool was invoked by C-c C-c and it would pass the code you are editing in a buffer to the REPL, and "compile" it. Why won't these commands work for me? Anyway, I have downloaded slime via M-x list-packages and do not seem to have this functionality (C-h w and then any of these commands tells me that these commands do note exist). So, I saw a bunch of other slime extensions such as slime-repl', 'slime-fuzzy' and 'hippie-expand-slime'. So I again usedM-x list-packages` and downloaded them. Still I did not have these commands. • Active Directory: Viewing "Attribute Editor" after finding an account via ADUC's "Find" option

  When I activate the Advanced features (View - Advanced Features) and open a user's properties by navigating to their OU and right clicking the user object, I see the Attribute Editor tab. However, if I search for a user (right click the domain - Find - search for the user), and double click on the user, I do not see the tab. I cannot normally navigate to users because some OUs have too many users. Can someone suggest an alternative that allows me to view the Attribute Editor tab?

• Remote Desktop triggers a loud Beep on local machine - how to shut it up?

  When I remote desktop into a server, I get a loud beep coming out of my local machine whenever certain messageboxes pop up. (An example is to search for something in the Event Log - when the search finds no results, I get a message box accompanied by a loud beep) Annoyingly, the beep still happens even if I have sound turned off locally or the volume right down - it seems to be hooking in to some low level OS-beep mechanism. Any way to turn it off?

• Configure spanning tree from HP to Cisco hardware

  I have three switches I'd like to configure in a loop - a Cisco stack (3750s) and two HP 2900 series. Each is connected to the next with a 10 gig backplane of one form or another. How do I configure the spanning tree on these systems to make this function correctly? From the documents I've looked at it looks like I need to set both sets of hardware to use MST mode but I'm not sure past that point. The trunking, etc is all set up as needed. • Unable to access certain websites from a computer

  One of the desktop computers in my office is unable to access some particular websites. We've tried from Chrome, IE, Firefox, but no luck. eg: http://spsims.wto.org/ -> click on "Regular notifications" On the affected computer, every browser times out after the click. Whereas it should redirect the user to http://spsims.wto.org/web/pages/search/notification/regular/Search.aspx How can I diagnose this further? This is a Windows XP machine.

• Alternate way to create a clone of a UNIX System

  THE STORY: (If you don't like to read much, down below is the question :) ) Where I work we have two HP RP2470 servers same hardware same number of hard drives same everything :). One of them is a production server and runs HP-UX 11.00. The poor ba***rd hasn't been turned off for years and now I have to make a clone of it on the other server - just in case, for redundancy. The problem is simple (or not simple) as I have to make the the other server exactly the same. However the old version of OS (UX 11.00 is a history now) and the old software running on it, have made my task almost impossible. On the production server there is also a cloning/recover utility Ignite-UX. I tried many times to create a recovery tape with it. Then when I load the tape on the backup server, it succeeds with the loading of the tape (no errors no warnings) but on the next restart it fails to load the OS :S and drops into HP`s ISL prompt. --- THE QUESTION: Is there an alternate way to create a clone of the Unix System? The environment is: 1. 2x HP RP2470 Servers (non-Intel), same hardware, same number od HDDs (two each of them) same everything. 2. OS running: HP-UX 11.00 The production server has to be cloned without downtime - sadly :( as I hope that they will reconsider on this one For example (like on Windows platforms), if you try to copy an entire HDD with Windows inside on another HDD, and then put that HDD on another PC it will still work, as long as the hardware is the same. Can I do something like that with a Unix system? Can I somehow COPY the contents of the entire HDD, put those on another HDD, and then just load the HDD into the other server? (If you haven't read the story the servers are exactly the same) Will it work? Can it be done with ordinary commands like cp or dump or something like that? • Start menu entries suddenly missing

  I am using Windows 7 x64 SP1 with all updates applied. During the last weeks I observed that some start menu entries / folders suddenly disappeared. Those programs then sometimes can be found using the search function of the start menu, then however they are labeled by the name of their executable (like photoshop instead of Adobe Photoshop). Does anyone know where to start looking for errors? Does the start menu has anything to do with windows search? I doubt it?

• Removing phantom applications from Application Pools in IIS7

  I have an application in one of my application pools that has a virtual path of '/Site/login.aspx'. I want to remove it but it no longer exists on my computer and it's causing me issues setting up AppFabric. I understand that you can remove these phantom applications by recreating the application in IIS and then hitting Remove. That will get rid of the application from the pool but in this case I can't recreate the application due to the /login.aspx in the virtual path Any ideas how I remove this erroneous entry? Thanks

  I try command rsync -v --include-from=/path/to/list.lst /home/user /path/to/backup list.lst contains for example .gnupg/ .pki/ .gnome2/keyrings/ .mozilla/firefox/*.default/bookmarkbackups/ .mozilla/firefox/*.default/bookmarks.html .mozilla/firefox/.default/.db .mozilla/firefox/.default/.sqlite and i get error on all strings with * "failed: No such file or directory" When i use --files-from for this, i get error too. Can anybody help me use wildcards for this?

Is there some other path that I'm missing out on? How can I get the correct runtime to be used?
