• Apache, mod_proxy_ajp and IE

  Hi! I have an Apache 2.2 using mod_proxy_ajp as a reverse proxy for a Tomcat 6, running on RHEL5. On tomcat runs an application that does NTLM authentication. Using Firefox, everything works ok, but IE7 says "cannot display the web page". Without Apache, IE7 works fine. What is going on here? Unfortunately, I have very limited access rights and can't capture tcp traffic or anything like that. Thanks!

• add printer on windows 7 with vbscript and wmi

  I have a problem where I can't add a printer on my Windows 7 machine, because it fails with "The printer driver is unknown" (error code 1797) using WMI/VBScript. The thing is that the printer driver already exists on the PC. I've used AddPrinterConnection to connect to the remote printer queue, and the drivers get installed. I've confirmed they exist by a) Enumerating Win32_PrinterDriver with WBEMTEST utility which shows the driver, and also in the Printer Management MMC snap-in. Is there some other scriptable way I can get this to work? I'm adding a local TCP/IP port, pointing my new printer object instance to use that port and the driver from using AddPrinterConnection, and giving it a name, but it refuses to work...

• ASP.net download page

  Hi I have a Reports.aspx ASP.NET page that allows users to download excel report files by clicking on several hyperlinks. When a report hyperlink is clicked, I open a new window using the javascript window.open method and navigate off to the download.aspx page. The code-behind for the download page creates a excel file on the fly using openxml(in memory) and send it back to the browser. Here is some code from the download.aspx page: byte[] outputFileBytes = CreateExcelReport().ToArray(); Response.Clear(); Response.BufferOutput = true; Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet"; Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", string.Format("attachment; filename={0}", "tempReport.xlsx")); Response.BinaryWrite(outputFileBytes); Response.Flush(); Response.Close(); Response.End(); My problem : Some of these reports take some time to generate. I would like to display a loading.gif file on my Reports.aspx page, while the download.aspx page is requested. Once the page request is completed, the loading.gif file should be made invisible. Is there a way to achieve this. Perhaps some kind of event. I have mootools to my disposal. Thanks PS. I know that generating reports like this is not ideal, but thats a different story all together...

• Cisco Pix does not let traffic pass from outside to inside even though ACL permits

  I have tried to make my pix 515 allow traffic from outisde interface to inside, but despite permitting ACL's, it doesn't seem to let traffic through. (It is letting traffic out as it should though) I am have tried both of the following: access-list acl_in extended permit tcp any host 10.131.73.2 eq www and access-list acl_in extended permit ip any any None of them help, but I can access 10.131.73.2 from any host on the inside network. This is a one single host on the inside that should every now and then have an HTTP server running for development purpouses, so it doesn't need to reside on DMZ (and as far as I know, I can't place it on DMZ either as it's in the same subnet as the other ip's I have. Could I have missed anything? I am using PIX Version 8.0(4) My current running config looks like this: http://pastebin.com/TvRFyDrF Hope someone can help me get this working.

• How to share internet over VPN and inside a virtual machine (Windows)?

  ` My final goal is to have a virtual machine at work in which anything that happen inside (tcp, udp, ping, ...) will use the Internet connection of a computer at home. So, if inside this VM should I open an Internet browser to a site such as "show my IP", my home IP should be printed. I am also looking for a way to debug/develop a software inside this VM, but I would like to tunnel only the connections of this software, not the full graphical interface, this is why a Remote Desktop solution won't fit me. The connection between the both computer should be secured somehow, like in a SSH tunnel. This ultimately should allow me to have a portable VM in which I can connect to whatever networks I have access at home, in a secure way. This is my configuration: At work, I have a LAN-connected desktop computer, with Windows 7 Professional Edition as a host [computer W] On this same computer, I have a Virtual Box machine running Windows XP [computer V] At home, I have a laptop computer, running Windows 7 Home Edition [computer H] This laptop is connected to a Livebox 2 broadband modem by Wifi. What I am trying to do is to sit at work in front of the virtual machine [V], and connect to a webpage as if the request was issued from the laptop [H] at home, and the data should be securely tunneled between the both. But if I am using internet directly inside [W], it should use the normal LAN interface at work. To achieve my goal, I first try using VPN, than SSH tunneling, without success. I first tried to install Teamviewer between [W] and [H]. This is working fine, I can send files, share desktop, etc. Teamviewer has a VPN mode that creates a new VPN network interface with its own IP, both on computer [W] and [H]. This allowed me to connect [H] as a network computer inside [W] and I was able to share files, but not to share Internet. At this point, I tried to use from [W] the Internet as if I was at home. I setup a route (using route add from command line in [W]) in order to instruct each packet going to a given website to pass by the new VPN interface on [W], with the hope it will be forwarded to [H], but the webpage was simply inaccessible. I then tried to setup a Windows VPN connection between [W] and [H], using the Windows 7 VPN feature. [H] was the server and [W] the client. But it failed: I got the "Unable to join a remote PC while trying to VPN" 720 Error when I was setting up the client on [W]. I think the problem is the Livebox 2 that could blocks the packets. But I am not sure of this: 1) with Teamviewer it works fine, 2) Livebox 2 has a configuration page for port mapping that gives the proper configuration to map VPN ports as an example so I guess that it should allow it, 3) I opened the ports 1723 (TCP) and 500 (UDP) according to some forums. Virtual box has a network configuration parameter in which I can use the VPN network interface created by Teamviewer as a bridged connection. This is suppose to work in the sense that all packets issued by the virtual machine [V] is supposed to go directly to [H]. But I had no internet connection inside [V]. Using the NAT mode, [V] has internet. For me this is the feature that I look for: filtering all connections from the virtual box application to the VPN network interface, and the remaining should use the normal LAN interface. Apart from the build-in feature of VBox, I even do not know if it is possible to route the packet from a given application to a given interface. Finally I tried also SSH tunneling, but this is not the solution I looked for. Using an external SSH server (Linux), I was able to create a localhost connection on [W] (or [V]), using something like 'ssh -N -D server[H]' in order to allow a web browser located in [W] to connect to any website using the SOCKS 5 proxy created locally (SOCKS is a build-in feature of SSH). But repeating the same operation on windows, using a windows SSH server inside [W] (I tried freeSSHd), it failed: SFTP worked, but not the SOCKS tunneling, it was like the browser in [H] did not find internet. Finally only Teamviewer looked able to create a VPN between [W] and [H], but I am not able to use it, as I want, I mean using the Internet connection of [H] sitting in front of [W]. I also tried to bridge the VPN interface and the wifi interface inside [H], but it blocked my laptop, and I tried also the Internet Connection Sharing, trying to share on [H] the wifi connection over the VPN interface. This fails also, but it seems because Teamviewer actually use the wifi interface to be able to provide the VPN link, so I guess I am creating a recursive loop. I do not know what to try next... • Where do I learn about IP blocks and subnets? Or is there just a calculator that does it all for me?

  Amazon's elastic compute tool (among others) requires the ip block format for their command: ec2-authorize websrv -P tcp -p 80 -s 205.192.0.0/16 I may be doing this wrong, but as far as I can tell I need to use the block format even for a single IP address. 1) So, how would I do that for this IP? 71.75.232.132 Several years ago I took a CCNA class, and I remember going over IPs and subnets, masks, broadcast addresses, class a/b/c networks, etc. However a lot seems to have changed since then - for example I don't think you can tell what "class" a network is in just by looking at it anymore - sometimes they could be multiple classes. 2) Anyhow, my second question is where do I go to get a refresher on all these things? 3) Or should I just be using ipcalc or an online calculator to do it all for me - and if so, which one?

• WPF Browser is there, but invisible.

• Can't log in via SSH to any accounts set to use /bin/bash as a default shell

  I'm trying to install bash as the default shell on a ARM Linux running on an embedded device (Synology DS212+ NAS). But there's something really wrong, and I can't figure out what it is. Symptoms: 1) Root has /bin/bash as default shell, and can log in normally via SSH: $ grep root /etc/passwd root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash $ ssh root@NAS root@NAS's password: Last login: Sun Dec 16 14:06:56 2012 from desktop # 2) joeuser has /bin/bash as default shell, and receives "Permission denied" when trying to log in via SSH: $ grep joeuser /etc/passwd joeuser:x:1029:100:Joe User:/home/joeuser:/bin/bash $ ssh joeuser@localhost joeuser@NAS's password: Last login: Sun Dec 16 14:07:22 2012 from desktop Permission denied, please try again. Also a su - joeuser as root works fine, so the bash binary itself is working fine. In an act of despair, I changed joeuser's uid to 0 on /etc/passwd, but also didn't work, so it doesn't seem to be anything permission related. Seems that bash is doing some extra checking that sshd didn't like, and blocking the connections for non-root users. Maybe some sort of sanity checking - or terminal emulation - that is triggering the SIGCHLD, but only when called via ssh. I already went through every single item on sshd_config, and also put SSHD in debug mode, but didn't find anything strange. • Connection drops while transferring large files to one server on a network

  My company has two sites, each with their own LAN, using site to site VPN tunnel to connect the two sites. When transferring files (especially larger files) from site1 to site2 server1, the file transfer fails. I don't think this can be a VPN issue because transferring the same files to site2 server2 which is on the same network as server1 works fine. Pings to server1 and server2 at site2 from site1 are about the same, mostly 19/20ms with the odd one up to 50ms. As server1 is DB server with a high load I thought the NIC maybe overloaded, but a transfer from site2 server1 to site2 server2 works fine, and that uses the same NIC on server1 as transfers from site1 to site2 server1. The servers are both Windows Server 2003 VMs with VMXNET 3 NICs. • Port forwarding for VNC on Dynalink RTA1335 not working

  I've vnc-java running on an Ubuntu box, with the IP address 192.168.1.68, using port 5800 (because port 5900 is being used for normal VNC). If I connect to 192.168.1.68:5800 using another computer on the network, I can use VNC fine. Using www.whatismyip.com, I find out what my IP address from the outside world is, and if I go directly to that, I get to access my modem/router. If I try to navigate to that IP address, with ':5800' on the end, I get a "This web page is not available." error. I have port forwarding set up in the router as follows: Application Name External Packet Internal Host IP Address Protocol Port IP Address Port VNC ALL TCP/UDP 5800 192.168.1.68 5800 What else do I need to do to get this to work?

  After about half a day the IIS 6.0 ASP (VBScript) web server appears to die. It accepts TCP connections (i.e. I can telnet localhost 80 successfully) however it does not return any response. Basically I'm wanting to create a popup which will scroll with the parent container - this is necessary because the parent container is large and if the user's browser window isn't large enough (this will be the case the majority of the time) - they will have to use the scrollbar of the container to scroll down. • CSS Menu disappear

  Hi, I created a menu in html/css but where I wanted the subitems to be shown on parent item hover. The problem is when I hover on it in IE it only shows it's subitems when I hover on the text in the menu item, If I hover over the element and not the text the subitems disappear again. So if I hover and want to move my mouse to my submenu the submenu disappears unless I'm fast enough. This is very annoying, does anyone know how I can solve this?   Hi, I need some help with overlaying views using the prism framework.Its a little more complexed than that so let me explain.I could be over-thinking this as well :D i have shell (wpf window) and i have 2 views(A & B - both usercontrols) in a module. when the shell loads it loads view A. On view A i have a button to "popup" view B for some user input. so naturally i would think to some sort of modal window/control, maybe even a popup. however the problem i face with the popup is that when i move the shell the popup remains fixed and it doesnt block events in view A. I've tried disabling view A to stop events being fired and i've also tried to use a to get the view B move with the shell. Only the canvas works but i now need a way to block it tho'. Is there anyway i can overlay a view on top of another view with prism? or how does everyone else create modal popups with prism & wpf? any advise or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  So the release of Windows Server 2012 has removed a lot of the old Remote Desktop related configuration utilities. In particular, there is no more Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration utility that gave you access to the RDP-Tcp properties dialog that let you configure a custom certificate for the RDSH to use. In its place is a nice new consolidated GUI that is part of the overall "edit deployment properties" workflow in the new Server Manager. The catch is that you only get access to that workflow if you have the Remote Desktop Services role installed (as far as I can tell). This seems like a bit of an oversight on Microsoft's part. How can we configure a custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 when it's running in the default Remote Administration mode without needlessly installing the Remote Desktop Services role?

  I have a tab bar application whereby one tab uses a navigation controller to move through a series of views. On the final view, there is a button to add a photo, which presents a UIImagePickerController. So far, so good - however when I finish picking the image, or cancel the operation, the previous view is loaded, but without the tab bar. I'm sure I'm missing something elementary, but any suggestions on how to properly release the UIImagePickerController would be much appreciated.   I want to use ImageJ to do some processing of several thousand images. Is there a way to take any general imageJ plugin and apply it to hundreds of images automatically?   I am trying to use twitter bootstrap to get the manufacturers from my DB. Because twitter bootstrap typeahead does not support ajax calls I am using this fork: https://gist.github.com/1866577 In that page there is this comment that mentions how to do exactly what I want to do. The problem is when I run my code I keep on getting: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined I googled around and came tried changing my jquery file to both using the minified and non minified as well as the one hosted on google code and I kept getting the same error. • Rate-Limit affects All clients or single IP?

  Well up-til now I've considered iptables rate-limit commands with the "recent" module to work for each IP Address. For example rate-limit rule of 20k/s will trigger only if a single IP exceeds 20k/s rate and not if 4 different IPs exceed 5k/s rate. Please correct me if I considered this wrong as I've only used these rules for TCP/ UDP. But today I tried similar rules for ICMP and applied 4/s Input/Output. But then on trying to ping-test from just-ping.com I could see packet loss on almost all IP Addresses. How could that happen because if it worked for each IP Address then it wouldn't be triggering the rule because I believe each IP from just-ping has a rate of probably 1/s. I still think the first one is true because if it wasn't then my GameServer would block everyone if the combined rate ( in case of more connected players ) increased the threshold. This hasn't happened up til now so the ICMP thing really confused me. Thank you.

What I tried: 1) Setting up OpenVPN, but I got lost in the process. 2) Creating a VPN from windows2003 server in the following manner: on instance a): set up a dhcp server; set up an "accept income vpn" connection; with the followin tcp ip settings: obtain an ip from the dhcp server; on instance b): created a new vpn connection, tried to connect to intance A, using the instance A static IP but error 806 was thrown, something relate to a GRE protocol.

  Hello Everybody, The company details page in my system has a user control to show the founders of the company, that user control represents the founders by using a Rad Grid and three buttons for insert/edit/delete founders, the founders grid is being bind by using a WCF service. the insert button calls a javascript method that opens a Rad Window in which the user can insert the data for a new founder my problem is: in the Add Founder Rad Window I shouldn't save the new founder in the database, when I press Add the Rad Grid should be closed and the new founder should be added to the founders Grid's datasource, and then the grid should be bind again the questions is: what is the best way to do that, I don't want to use sessions nor json, I tried to use another wcf service which takes two parameters: reference to the grid and the new founder, and in this wcf service I get the old datasource then add the new founder to it and finally rebind the grid again, but I have faced some problems like how can I send the reference to the grid from javascript method to a WCF service, also if I add more than one founder how can keep track of the new founders and the original datasource if any of you can lead me to an example similar to my case this would be very much appreciated, also any comments and feedback are most welcomed
