Setting up a Time Capsule with port forwarding

Our old AirPort Extreme station hit EOL, so we decided to upgrade it to a Time Capsule. Along the way, we're trying to also set it up with a separate guest network and port forwarding/NAT, however we're having trouble setting it up so that the time capsule is handling the DHCP leases instead of the router. We've got DSL through Verizon through a Westell modem/router to the Time Capsule. Done the RTFM thing, and we haven't been able to get it to work. Can anyone explain how to get things set up properly for this configuration?

Can't add HKCU entries via GroupPolicy Preferences

2008 R2, XP and W7 64 bit workstations. Trying to add/modify two registry entries for Lync2010 for each user. Created using GP Management, User Configuration, Preferences, Registry. If the two registry entries already exist, then the policy works correctly. If they don't exist, nothing changes. GPReults reports it was successful. If I import the .reg file manually, it also works, so I don't believe it is a rights issue. I have tried the Update, Create, and Replace as the Action. I am not familiar with ADM templates, is that the only way to do it?

AirPlay over unicast DNS-SD. Anyone got it working?

We set up AirPrint using unicast DNS-SD on our campus about a year ago and it turned out to be a big success, so we're looking at trying to get AirPlay working so our faculty and students can wirelessly show content on our classroom projectors. There are still a couple of other things preventing an ideal implementation (username and password authentication, for starters), but I've been trying to set up a working demo nonetheless. Getting AirPrint working was basically just a matter of advertising the same records over a DNS-SD domain instead of the multicast (.local) one, but doing the same thing for AirPlay doesn't seem to cut it. The devices don't recognize the DNS-SD AirPlay servers as available. I've uploaded a screenshot of my DNS-SD configuration with the original (from AirServer, which works normally for multicast) here. I realize this is still a fairly new feature and documentation is lacking, but has anyone been able to get AirPlay working via DNS-SD? If it simply only works over multicast, I can accept that, but its potential is so appealing for us that I thought it'd be worth asking if anyone else has figured it out.

Good practice or service for monitoring unhandled application errors for a small organization

I'm working with multiple software with varying ways of monitoring for errors. When I make software, I usually send email with the stack trace to admins(usually me). Some customer software is monitored by a team who check that a particular batch run was successfull. Other software might not have any monitoring at all(someone will call when things go wrong horribly). Sending emails is good, except when things start going wrong, my mail gets filled fast. Also I don't want to solve the same problem in code for every software. Is there some relatively cheap and low maintenance software or practice to handle this. I want it to be cheap/low maintenance because usually I work alone or in teams of 5 or smaller. For example it would be great if errors would be aggregated so I don't get 10 000 emails when something unexpected happens... For clarification: By unhandled errors I mean Exceptions that were unhandled by application code that were propagated to Tomcat or Jboss. I don't need help with how to catch those errors. I need help with what to do with them. Is there any cloud application that I could send my errors to? Or some simple server to install? Or some library that can handle errors using configuration files. I use Java if that is any help.

How do you passthrough native SATA drives to a guest on ESXi?

I have ESXi 4.0 running on an Intel DX58S0 Mothboardboard with an Intel Core i7 930 processor. VT-d is also enabled. I have three drives in the system, drive 0 is used for ESXi. Drive 1 and 2 contain data from an older machine and show up under the "Storage Adapters" section in configuration. I would like to allow a guest machine to access the data on these drives (as nativly as possible). I have enabled passthrough of the motherboard's built in SATA controller (Intel/Marvell 88SE6121 ). This controller shows up in my guest OS, but the guest shows no drives aside from the normal virtual drive. I have tried a Linux guest and Windows7. I have also configured the host machine to try IDE/RAID/ACHI modes for the SATA controller. Any ideas how I can configure one of my guests to get at the raw data on these drives?

DKIM on postfix relay server

I have a postfix/amavis relay server, with the domain name mail.example.com. It will be a relay for dozens of VPSs, which will have domains like hostname.example.net. So i have actually two questions. Is it possible to dkim sing the mails originating from the VPSs over the postfix relay on the relay server? Or have the mails to be signed on the VPSs where they are actually from? Would a amavis configuration like this be ok? # DKIM key dkim_key('example.com', 'dkim', '/var/dkim/DKIMkey.pem'); # Cover subdomains in @dkim_signature_options_bysender_maps= (): @dkim_signature_options_bysender_maps = ( { # Cover subdomains example.net. make IIS 7.5 cache static content files over diferent pages

On a Windows 2008 R2, using DNS and IIS I've established my development test server; i.e. I'll have a web application that I can browse on http://test.dev I've moved all the static content files like images, js files and css files into another application which is visible on http://cdn.test.dev test.dev, uses cdn.test.dev urls like http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js to load js, css and images. When I first load "~/" of test.dev, all files will load with a response code of 200; when I press F5 in Firefox, all files, except the "~/default.aspx", will load with 304 response code; but pressing Ctrl+F5 loads them again with a 200 code; if I browse another url like "~/pages/" in test.dev, all of those static files will reload with a 200 code... Is this normal or I'm doing something wrong? Actually, I'm looking for a behavior like this: I want the client to load http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js, only once. I want the client's browser to use this jquery.js file, from cache, in all other pages of test.dev Is this possible? Can't change settings for Mobile Broadband Dongle - Button is greyed out

I was with VirginBroadband.com.au (Australia). My huawai 3G Dongle was working great on Ubuntu, However I have changed ISP's. I unlocked the modem, and put in the new SIM. I have tested this in my Windows PC and it connects to the new (Optus) Network A-OK and it all works. When I put this dongle (the same one that was working fine in Ubuntu) into that same Ubuntu Netbook it simply won't connect. When I try to go into the dialog to try and add or change settings the button to change or update settings is greyed out, I can't select it. Apparently since this dongle was already recognized the Broadband Setup Wizard won't start, and I have no idea how to get it to start (presuming it has the ability to configure an already recognized dongle). What do I have to do to either enable the ability to change the configuration for this setup, or to blow away the one that is set up so the Broadband Wizard will re-start and let me configure a new one. Can anyone provide simple instructions for doing this? I'm using Ubuntu with the Cinnamon Desktop

Disable disk caches in AWS EBS for PostgreSQL?

It's my understanding that, without correctly disabling OS-level and drive-level caching, there is a chance that in case of system failure the Write-Ahead Log might not be saved correctly and in fact might get corrupted, possibly preventing data recovery. I've already made sure that wal_sync_method=fdatasync however I was unable to make any configuration changes with hdparm since I get the following: $ sudo htparm -I /dev/xvdf /dev/xvdf: HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(identify) failed: Invalid argument Looks like that option is not available in the kind of setup you get in EC2. Am I missing anything here? Are there any other obvious caches I have to disable to ensure the WAL's safety?

EclipseLink does multitenancy. Today.

So you heard Java EE 7 will be about the cloud, but that didn't mean a whole lot to you. Then it was characterized as PaaS, something in between IaaS and SaaS. And finally it all became clear when referenced as support for multitenancy. Or did it? When it comes to JPA and persistence is general, multitenancy is defined as the ability to share a database schema among various groups of users (i.e. tenants). This means that there is no database setup or reconfiguration required as the data is co-located in the same database. EclipseLink 2.3 (the Indigo train release) let's you do just that by supporting tenant discriminator column(s) via annotations or XML with applications providing values for these discriminators via an API or PU configuration. Check out details here. EclipseLink 2.3 is scheduled to be the default and supported JPA provider for GlassFish 3.1.1. Another nice feature of this release is the ability to extend persistence units on the fly. The GlassFish Podcast has an interview up with EclipseLink's Doug Clarke. Expect more on multitenancy across the Java EE spectrum as the specification work progressed.

Firewalling a Cisco ASA Split tunnel

I have a Cisco ASA 5510 at head office, and Cisco ASA 5505 in remote offices. The remote offices are connected over a split tunnelled VPN - the ASA 5505s use "Easy VPN" Client type VPN in Network Extension Mode (NEM). I'd like to set firewall rules for the non-tunnelled traffic only. Traffic over the VPN to head office should not have any firewall rules applied. I might want to apply different firewall rules to different remote offices. All the documentation I have been able to find assumes the Client VPN is a software endpoint, and all the configuration is done at the 5510. When using a Cisco 5505 as the VPN client, is it possible to configure any firewalling at the Client end, or does it all have to come from the 5510? Are there any other issues to look out for when split-tunnelling a VPN by this method?

I've got a saucy server with a lot of NICs and they end up with weird names like "rename19". I know interface names can be changed by modifying the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file. The first clue that something is wrong is that that file did not exist even though it's supposed to be created automatically. Ubuntu: move logs from /dev/tty8 to different terminal /dev/tty12 or get rid of it.

I want to know how to move or get rid of /dev/tty8 log output in Ubuntu 9.10. /dev/tty7 is my regular X session. When I am switching user to test account where I can try and test setups and configs I am at next available console i.e. /dev/tty9 because /dev/tty8 is taken by log output. Where can I configure this ? All I've found related to /dev/tty8 is commented lines in /etc/rsyslog.d/50-default.conf. I changed it like that: daemon,mail.*;\ news.=crit;news.=err;news.=notice;\ *.=debug;*.=info;\ *.=notice;*.=warn /dev/tty12 And I've got nice log output on /dev/tty12 but where is configuration for log output on /dev/tty8. How can I change it?

how to pass domain name to backend with pound

I am using pound as a way to decode SSL for the backend, but the bulk of the work is done on varnish (including virtualhost stuff). As a result, I need pound to just forward all other traffic to varnish verbatim, but it doesn't seem to do that. I am using the default configuration: ListenHTTP Address 1.2.3.4 Port 8080 ## allow PUT and DELETE also (by default only GET, POST and HEAD)?: xHTTP 0 Service BackEnd Address 127.0.0.1 Port 80 End End End So whenever I hit example.com:8080, it will always redirect to the default backend for varnish, which i assume was because the domain (host) header isn't send along. Anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks a lot! Jason

Testing php mail() in localhost problem

Hey guys, recently I just installed msmtp in linux and I even send a mail from the terminal and it worked: echo -e "Subject: Test Mail\r\n\r\nThis is a test mail" |msmtp --debug --from=default -t [email protected] But in php, after editing the php.ini file to have this: sendmail_path = '/usr/bin/msmtp -t' and using this piece of code: <?php if ( mail ( '[email protected]', 'Test mail from localhost', 'Working Fine.' ) ){ echo 'Mail sent'; } else{ echo 'Error. Please check error log.'; } ?> I get the Mail sent message but don't receive a message in my inbox. Not even in the spam folder. Wireless drops on HP ENVY dv6 with RT3290 wireless, worked without problem prior to upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10, can it be fixed?

I have a HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC with an AMD A10 quad core and RT3290 wireless. Since I upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10, the wireless connects, but then drops after a few minutes or longer, whether or not I am running openconnect to get through a VPN. If I attempt to run a remote X client (e.g. remote xterm) it drops. If I don't run an X client, it disconnects after a while, requiring a reload of the driver and reconnect. Hyper-V Guests suddenly stopped working

Hi! Here's my configuration: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard as a host OS, and two guests VMs running the same exact OS. Yesterday, Trial Activation on all OSes has expired and quite naturally all machines shut down. I rearmed the host, but cannot log on to either guest VMs. From what I see, they start up normally (State is listed as Running) but CPU Usage seems to be stuck at 3% and when I connect to it all I see is black textmode screen with cursor blinking. One of my VMs has several snapshots, and when I revert back, it starts up normally. Moreover, "reference VM" (the one I cloned these two VMs from) starts up just normally. How can I troubleshoot this issue?

Windows Firewall failing after 9-12 hours?

I have 2 VM servers in the exact same NIC configuration: Server 2003 R2, one NIC connected to private (hardware firewall) network in a 10.x private address space, and one NIC connected straight to public internet. Windows Firewall is enabled for the Public Internet NIC only. Now, what doesn't make sense - this fails generally after 9-12 hours. It's not exact, but once or twice a day, traffic will just stop on the Internet NIC. No event log entries when it happens, and restarting the Windows Firewall service as well as stopping or restarting IPSec Services (just for fun) has no effect. Once the server is rebooted, everything is fine again for another 1/2 day. Any suggestions?

Ubuntu 12.04 Server ping gateway responds with destination host unreachable

I consider myself fairly avid with Ubuntu and Linux, but this one has me stumped. I built up a Xen Server using Ubuntu 12.04 as the base operating system. It has multiple domUs running on it. My home network has a statically defined network where I got all the network connectivity going peachy. The server was moved to a permanent home this morning. So, the network configuration on the main system had to change. Again, another static network, but now I can't ping the upstream gateway from the host. As the VMs use this NIC over a bridge, they too are broken. Ping responds with "destination host unreachable." I simplified the networking down to a simple static network as seen below (no bridge or anything) just to get it to work. Here's the contents of my /etc/network/interfaces file: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 216.7.188.228 gateway 216.7.188.225 netmask 255.255.255.240 broadcast 216.7.188.255 network 216.7.188.0 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 Here's the contents of route -n 0.0.0.0 216.7.188.225 0.0.0.0 UG 100 0 0 eth0 216.7.188.224 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.240 U 0 0 0 eth0 And the results of pinging the gateway: PING 216.7.188.225 (216.7.188.225) 56(84) bytes of data. I did try using eth1 (as there are two NICS on the server (in case the MAC address got flipped on bootup). No success there. Yes, the cable is in the right port now :) Any thoughts? Problems with wired ethernet connection Ubuntu 11.10

After some partition shuffling, I've got a problem on my 11.10 system. The wired ethernet interface fails to come up, although the wireless interface is working. I'm using NetworkManager. I thought this may be a problem with NetworkManager, so I checked the config files, which look ok. I then tried re-installing the package, but this didn't resolve the issues. I'm not sure at this point if the problem is due to software configuration, or a hardware problem. I've also tried the cable in other router ports, but same problem. Cannot Connect Modem ( /dev/ttySL0 ) Using gnome-ppp - Dial-Up Connection

I'm trying to connect my Toshiba Satellite running Ubuntu 10.04 to my Eris running Android 2.1 through a Bluetooth connection and establish a dial-up connection (DUN) with the modem. I can connect my phone to my laptop, and I can detect my modem (after installing drivers), which is located at /dev/ttySL0. But when I launch gnome-ppp and enter my phone number (123 for PDA-Net) I get a dialog that says "Connecting... Sending Password" with Log and Cancel buttons. The log shows this: --> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60 --> Cannot get information for serial port. --> Initializing modem. --> Sending: ATZ ATZ OK --> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 OK --> Modem initialized. --> Please enter password (or empty password to stop): --> Configuration does not specify a valid login name. The PDA-Net DUN protocol is running and shows no error. Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

Undeliverable messages to newly migrated Exchange user

We are in the process of migrating from our old domain to a new one, part of which involves migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. A bunch of users have been migrated already without problems. However, one of the users is having trouble receiving emails from others. When someone sends to him, they get an Undeliverable NDR that says "A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients." The message shows the user's distinguished name as /OU=OurDomain/CN=Recipients/CN=USER57137172. The user's account name should just be "USER", so I don't know where the extra numbers ("57137172") are coming from. Thanks in advance.

Script/ Macro in Excel, by clicking on a cell

There's something I want to do in Excel 2010. Specifically, I want to be able to make the open sheet load data from a text file, by clicking -important- on a cell of the current open worksheet. So my specific needs are: If it is possible in some way, to start a macro/script by clicking on a cell. About the script/macro: What would be the preferable, by your opinion, way of implementation. And more specifically, how to automatically import the data needed, only by clicking, without having to continually specify the desirable .txt file each time, only 1 time at max, at start or by using a custom "initalization/configuration" file.

install grub on disk image

I have disk image with 2 partitions: Partition 1 has cramfs file system (read only). This partition contains all system files of the OS Partition 2 has ext3 file system. This partition has only configuration files that may be changed. How can I install GRUB1 boot loader on MBR. I tried to copy first 446 bytes of my hard disk and copy GRUB files to the /boot directory on the 1st (cramfs) partition. I cannot use grub-install because I have disk image and not disk itself. Any ideas?
