I don't know why this error is thrown. • C# async callback on disposed form

  Quick question: One of my forms in my winform app (c#) makes an async call to a WCF service to get some data. If the form happens to close before the callback happens, it crashes with an error about accessing a disposed object. What's the correct way to check/handle this situation? The error happens on the Invoke call to the method to update my form, but I can't drill down to the inner exception because it says the code has been optimized.   I may be working on mission impossible here, but I seem to be getting close. I want to extend a ASP.NET control, and I want my code to be unit testable. Also, I'd like to be able to fake behaviors of a real Label (namely things like ID generation, etc), which a real Label can't do in an nUnit host. Here a working example that makes assertions on something that depends on a real base class and something that doesn't-- in a more realistic unit test, the test would depend on both --i.e. an ID existing and some custom behavior.   I have a table that consists of a unique id, and a few other attributes. It holds "schedules". Then I have another table that holds a list of all the times each schedule has or will "fire". This isn't the exact schema, but it's close: create table schedule ( id varchar(40) primary key, attr1 int, attr2 varchar(20) ); create table schedule_times ( id varchar(40) foreign key schedule(id), fire_date date ); I want to query the schedule table, getting the attributes and the next and previous fire_dates, in Java, sometimes ordering on one of the attributes, but sometimes ordering on either previous fire_date or the next fire_date. Ordering by the attributes is easy, I just stick an "order by" into the string while I'm building my prepared statement. I'm not even sure how to go about selecting the last fire_date and the next one in a single query - I know that I can find the next fire_date for a given id by doing a SELECT min(fire_date) FROM schedule_times WHERE id = ? AND fire_date > sysdate; and the similar thing for previous fire_date using max() and fire_date < sysdate. I'm just drawing a blank on how to incorporate that into a single select from the schedule so I can get both next and previous fire_date in one shot, and also how to order by either of those attributes.

  When drawing vertical lines with a non-integer x-value (e.g., 1.75) to a sprite, the lines are drawn differently based on the non-integer x-value of the sprite. In the picture below are two pairs of very close together vertical lines. As you can see, they look very different. This is frustrating, especially when animating the sprite. • Spider a Website and Return URLs Only

  I'm not quite sure how best to define/articulate this, but I'm looking for a way to pseudo-spider a website. The key is that I don't actually want the content, but rather a simple list of URIs. I can get reasonably close to this idea with Wget using the --spider option, but when piping that output through a grep, I can't seem to find the right magic to make it work: wget --spider --force-html -r -l1 http://somesite.com | grep 'Saving to:' The grep filter seems to have absolutely no affect on the wget output. Have I got something wrong or is there another tool I should try that's more geared towards providing this kind of limited result set? Thanks. UPDATE So I just found out offline that, by default, wget writes to stderr. I missed that in the man pages (in fact, I still haven't found it if it's in there). Once I piped the return to stdout, I got closer to what I need: wget --spider --force-html -r -l1 http://somesite.com 2>&1 | grep 'Saving to:' I'd still be interested in other/better means for doing this kind of thing, if any exist.

• Caching issue with javascript and asp.net

  Hi guys: I asked a question a while back on here regarding caching data for a calendar/scheduling web app, and got some good responses. However, I have now decided to change my approach and stat caching the data in javascript. I am directly caching the HTML for each day's column in the calendar grid inside the $('body').data() object, which gives very fast page load times (almost unnoticable). However, problems start to arise when the user requests data that is not yet in the cache. This data is created by the server using an ajax call, so it's asynchronous, and takes about 0.2s per week's data. My current approach is simply to block for 0.5s when the user requests information from the server, and cache 4 weeks either side in the inital page load (and 1 extra week per page change request), however I doubt this is the optimal method. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to improve the situation? To summarise: Each week takes 0.2s to retrieve from the server, asynchronously. Performance must be as close to real-time as possible. (however the data is not needed to be fully real-time: most appointments are added by the user and so we can re-cache after this) Currently 4 weeks are cached on either side of the inial week loaded: this is not enough. to cache 1 year takes ~ 21s, this is too slow for an initial load.

• Sms via a nokia phone over a serial port

  Hi, I'm trying to send a sms via a Nokia phone over serial which is easy enough via putty. The commands from the nokia documentation works fine. However, trying to send the same commands from a c# application fails miserably. I've run Sysinternals PortMon and can see the commands come through OK, the only difference I can see is in the way it connects but I am having trouble finding the commands that would iron out those differences. From reading the documentation load() will load KeyStore data from an input stream (which is just an empty file we just created), using some arbitrary "nopassword". Why not just load it with null as the InputStream parameter and an empty string as the password field? And then what is happening when this empty KeyStore is being passed to the SSLSocketFactory constructor? What's the result of such an operation? Or -- is this simply an example where in a real application you would have to actually put a reference to an existing keystore file / password?

  Is there something like a class that might be used to store Files and directories in, just like the way Zip files might be used? Since I haven't found any "real" class to write Zip files (real class as in real class), It would be nice to be able to store Files and Directories in a container-like file. Unfortunately, it seems impossible to store Directory structures in a SQLite Database, which makes it pretty much useless in this case. Is it useless to hope for such a class library?

• How do I run a VBScript in 32-bit mode on a 64-bit machine?

  I have a text file that ends with .vbs that I have written the following in: Set Conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") Conn.Provider = "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" Conn.Properties("Data Source") = "C:\dummy.accdb" Conn.Properties("Jet OLEDB:Database Password") = "pass" Conn.Open Conn.Close Set Conn = Nothing When I execute this on a Windows 32-bit machine it runs and ends without any notion (expected). When I execute this on a Windows 64-bit machine it gets the error "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.". But it is installed. I think the root of the problem is that the provider is a 32-bit provider, as far as I know it doesn't exist as 64-bit. If I run the VBScript through IIS on my 64-bit machine (as a ASP file) I can select that it should run in 32-bit mode. It can then find the provider. How can I make it find the provider on Windows 64-bit? Can I tell CScript (which executes the .vbs text file) to run in 32-bit mode somehow?

Now, I would assume that this would or should happen: Page loads the first time, the None radio button is checked / defaulted I go and select a different radiobutton in this radiobutton list I do an F5 refresh in my browser The None radio button is pre-selected again after it has come back from the refresh but #4 is not happening. It's retaining the radiobutton that I selected in #2 and I don't know why. I mean in regular HTML it's stateless. So what could be holding this value? I want this to act like a normal input button. I know the question of "why not use an ASP.NET control" will come up. Well there are 2 reasons: The stupid radiobuttonlist bug that everyone knows about I just want to brush up more on standard input tags We are not moving to MVC so this is as close as I'll get and it's ok, because the rest of the team is on par with having mixed ASP.NET controls with standard HTML controls in our pages Anyway my main question here is I'm surprised that it's retaining the change in selection after postback.

• How to use a getter with a nullable?

  I am reading a bunch of queries from a database. I had an issue with the queries not closing, so I added a CommandTimeout. Now, the individual queries read from the config file each time they are run. How would I make the code cache the int from the config file only once using a static nullable and getter. • Box2dx: Cancel force on a body?

  I'm doing pathfinding where I use force to push body to waypoints. However, once they get close enough to the waypoint, I want to cancel out the force. How can I do this? Do I need to maintain separately all the forces I've applied to the body in question? I'm using Box2dx (C#/XNA). • Eclipse Juno won't create Android Activity

  I downloaded Eclipse Juno Java EE edition and installed ADT plugin. I created a new Android Application Project from Eclipse and in the wizard I created an activity called TaskariActivity. After I pressed finish, it created the project but not the activity and the wizard didn't close. I pressed cancel. No activity or anything in the src folder. I created a new activity by right clicking on src, selecting new -> other -> Android -> activity. I selected BlankActivity (as earlier when I was creating the project), selected the earlier created project in the Project combo box. I set the Activity name as TaskariActivity, layout name as activity_main and title as TaskariActivity. Next I selected navigation type and I set it to Tabs + Swipe (I thought this would make me tabs and everything I had to do would be just inserting the elements and the actions for them). I pressed next, nothing happened. Finish didn't also do anything. I pressed cancel and an activity wasn't created. So, how can I create an Android application like in the earlier version of Eclipse? It automatically created the activity and it was ready be run out of the box. Now it won't generate any files and the new activity wizard doesn't work. Help?

  Hi Does anyone know how Asp.net membership generates their salt key and then how they encode it(ie is it salt + password or password + salt)? I am using sha1 with my membership but I would like to recreate the same salts so the built in membership stuff could hash the stuff the same way as my stuff can.
