• PHP can't connect to localhost XMPP server on port 5222

  I've set up an ejabberd install locally on my Windows box, where I also have Apache, PHP and MySQL. I've also confirmed that it works great using Digsby, and have kicked the tires a bit by creating some users, sending some messages, etc. All good. However, PHP can't open a stream using stream_socket_client to port 5222. Even at its simplest level: stream_socket_client("tcp://localhost:5222", $errno, $errstr, 30, STREAM_CLIENT_CONNECT); Returns a timeout error. However, again, connecting with an IM client to localhost on port 5222 works fine. Any ideas? I'm stuck!

• DNS resolution problems; dig SERVFAIL error

  I'm setting up a couple of dedicated servers, and having problems setting up my nameservers properly. One of these is a LEMP server (LAMP with nginx in place of Apache), and the other will function solely as an email server, running exim/dovecot/ASSP antispam (no Apache). The LEMP server is CentOS 5.5, with no control panel, while the email server is CentOS 5.5 as well, with cPanel/WHM. So, I've had problems getting DNS set up properly. I have two domains, each one pointing to one of these servers. The nameservers are registered correctly with the domain registrar, and the nameserver IPs are entered correctly as well. I've spoken to tech support at the registrar and they confirm that everything is set up on their end. Not knowing much about DNS, I googled nameservers and DNS until I nearly went blind, and spent hours messing with the configuration. Eventually, I got the LEMP server's DNS working properly (no cPanel). Pleased with this triumph, I'm trying to mimic that configuration and repeat the process with the email server, and it's just not happening. The nameserver starts and stops, but the domain doesn't resolve. Things I have tried Going through standard procedures to set up DNS in WHM Clearing all DNS information, uninstalling BIND, then reinstalling all of that and again going through WHM procedures for setting up DNS Clearing all DNS information, and setting up BIND via shell (completely outside of cPanel) by using my config and zone files from the LEMP server as a template named runs just fine, but nothing is resolving. When I "dig any example.com" I get a SERVFAIL message. Nslookups return no information. Tech support is very responsive, and largely useless. Hours go by with them asking me questions to narrow down what could be wrong, then they pass the ticket to the tech on the next shift, who ignores everything that's happened already and spend his whole shift asking all the same questions the last guy asked. So, in summary: *Nameservers, with IPs, are correctly registered with domain registrar *named is configured and running *...and must not be configured correctly, because nothing resolves. Any help would be great. I changed domains and IPs in the files to generics, but let me know if you need to know the domain in question. Thanks! UPDATE I found that I didn't have 127.0.0.1 in /etc/resolv.conf, so I added it, along with my two public IPs that I have named listening on. resolv.conf search www.example.com example.com nameserver 127.0.0.1 nameserver 7.8.9.10 ;Was in here by default, authoritative nameserver of hosting company nameserver 1.2.3.4 ;Public IP #1 nameserver 1.2.3.5 ;Public IP #2 Now when I DIG example.com from the host, it resolves. If I try to DIG from my other server (in the same datacenter), or from the internet, it times out or I get SERVFAIL.

  hello, i run a social networking site written in asp.net and would like to open it to developers using the OpenSocial APIs. I have read information on opensocial.org as well as google's opensocial page and have a basic idea what it takes but still there is a lot of info missing to even get started. I know i gotta provide RESTful API as well as JavaScript API, authenticating using OAuth methods. Does my container has to provide all 3: JSON, XML, and AtomPub representations of data? I found Shindig but it runs under Apache, i need something for IIS. Are there any libraries that i could use as a base for my APIs to save time? Is it even recommended to write the entire container from scratch? thanks

• htaccess rewriterule with order in url

  I'm trying to put together a rewrite rule for an Apache server. It should take 'order/###' and change it to 'order.php?id=###'. For some reason it's rewriting as 'order.php/###'. If I change it to anything other than 'order' my rule works fine. Anyone know what's going on?   I develop rails in ubuntu and i just set up a virtualbox windows xp virtual machine for IE testing. I'd like to be able to run mongrel_rails in ubuntu and then jump into the vm to check it out, so i can jump back, make a change, jump into the vm again, reload the page and test it, etc. Is this possible? In this sort of situation in the past i've had to set up an apache server on my dev machine and run mongrel under that, in order to get an externally visible (ie visible to my local network) ip address that i then paste into the address bar of IE in the vm. Is this really necessary? Is there a simpler way? Can i do something with my /etc/hosts or sites-available files to just make up some arbitrary network address which points to localhost:3000 in ubuntu? Or something? thanks, max

• Kohana controller shows blank page if missing URI segment/argument

  When accessing http://www.nowplayingnashville.com/event2/detail/440698386/Whatever the controller shows normally. But when omitting the last parameter (event's title, which can be any string), http://www.nowplayingnashville.com/event2/detail/440698386/ It shows blank. I added a default value and tried to hardcode the title on the first line of the controller, but it doesn't work anyway. It looks like a view issue, because I can add an echo at the end of the controller and it gets printed, so the controller is executing to the end, but the views aren't displayed. This problem is present on the live site, but I checked out the code on my local machine and it works perfectly without a title. That's strange. Could it be a Kohana or Apache configuration issue?

In beginning of XML file I have a doctype which references these entities. What should I do for entity to be left unchanged? <!DOCTYPE article [ <!ENTITY mdash "&mdash;"><!-- em dash --> ]> gives me SAXParseException: Recursive entity expansion, 'mdash' when encountering &mdash in XML text.

  Hi, I'm looking for a diff implementation in Java. I've seen that Python has its own SequenceMatcher (with difflib), which is exactly what I need... in Java. Is there any portage? Or is there any other class/library that performs the same in Java? If not, where can I find the source code of that difflib (if free as in speech) to make my own implementation of SequenceMatcher in Java ? Unfortunately, Apache Commons Lang doesn't help me much.   i am trying to do a deployment with capistrano to newly installed Ubuntu server i am deploying to directory /var/www, owned by root, so i need to set use_sudo to true while i execute commands with run "#{try_sudo} command" without problem, svn checkout doesn't work with sudo prefix i try set :deploy_via, :export and it throws Can't make directory '/var/www/pr_name/releases/20091217171253': Permission denied during checkout i imagine adding "try_sudo" prefix to "svn export" would help, but where can i edit the one it uses in deploy_via? -- if on other hand i don't use use_sudo, and set /var/www/ directory ownership to myuser, i still cannot deploy - some of my deployment commands set folders ownership to apache user www-data and then i get something like: changing ownership of `/var/www/pr_name/current/specificdirectory': Operation not permitted which, if i understand correctly, has to be done with sudo

I cannot modify this page; so, setting document.domain is out of the question, unfortunately. I want to retrieve and display this page on http://host1.mydomain.com/page1.jsp using Ajax.   I'm using APC to reduce my loading time for my PHP files. My files load very fast, except for one file where I define more than 100 arrays. This 270 kb file takes 200 ms to load. The rest of the files are full of objects, methods, and functions. I'm wondering: does OP code caching not work as well for arrays? My APC cache should be big enough to handle all of my classes. • In Sinatra, how can I serve static index.html files in subdirectories in public folder?

  I noticed that Sinatra does not recognize index.html files in public folder's subdirectories and returns an error when url is pointing to a directory without specifiying the file name. For example, if user enters a url like "www.mydomain.com/subdiretory/", Sinatra fails to recognize the existence of an index.html file in that directory. There are hundreds of subdirectories in my public folder so that it is impossible to specify each one of them in code (and the number of subdirectories keeps growing). How can I tell Sinatra to leave my web server (Apache) alone (to server index.html file) if there is an index.html file in a subdirectory of public folder when url is pointing to that directory without the file name?

• Joining remote paths in Java

  I'm using the FTP library provided by Apache (commons-net). I want to check if a file exists on the FTP server so I use the listFiles method of FTPClient: ftpClient.listFiles(remoteFileDir + "\\" + fileName); The current directory is the FTP server root directory. So, the value of remoteFileDir is a path relative to this root directory. My question concerns the merge between the remote directory path and the file name. What is the right way to do it? For a local file, I would do: File file = new File(remoteFileDir,fileName); but here it doesn't work since when I call file.getAbsolutePath(), I get an absolute path for the file in the local current directory which is not what I want. Also, I guess the merging has been done according to my local environment. PS: I looked at How are paths determined on a remote machines? but it doesn't help me. Thanks

  I want to allow hotlinking only from a list of referrers (paying customers, probably a few hundred). I am on Apache 1.3 and I do not have access to the configuration (only .htaccess). What is the fastest way to implement this? The realm is configured as such <Realm className="org.apache.catalina.realm.JNDIRealm" debug="99" referrals="follow" connectionURL="<url>" connectionName="CN=Query Account,OU=Service Accounts,DC=company,DC=com" connectionPassword="<pwd>" userBase="OU=Users,DC=company,DC=com" userSubtree="true" userSearch="(sAMAccountName={0})" userRoleName="member" roleBase="OU=Security Groups,DC=company,DC=com" roleName="cn" roleSearch="(member={0})" roleSubtree="true"/> Our groups in AD are such Security Groups (OU) IT (OU) IT Support (OU) Support Staff (CN) The LDAP security works if in the web.xml, I speficy Support Staff. i.e works for Common names. We want ANY user under Security Groups OU to have access to the application and not just the CN. Tomcat does not search OU's and it just searches CN's in our case. How do we configure our settings so we can do OU level authorization and not just CN level ? thanks Mat

  How can I access an EJB deployed on websphere community server using Open EJB? I'm trying to use code like the following but am not sure what to use for a URL.
