• Calculate time taken by each cpp file to compile in VS2005?

  Hi Guys, I am writing a tool which can be used to make the matrix for the current performance of the project. For that I required to get the time taken by each file to get compiled. I tried with the following option but didn't succeed :( Tools-Options-Proejcts & Solutions - VC++ Project Settings - Build Timing- Yes From the above option I am able to get the whole time taken to build the solution but my problem is to get for each one. I am using VS2005 So anyone is having any idea then pls revert back ASAP....

  First off, the title is very generic because there are just tons of ways of how to possibly solve this. However, I'm looking for a clean and neat way. Situation: I have two equal object files foo.o and foo-pi.o, the latter of which is position-independent (compiled with -fPIC). Both depend on foo.h and bar.h. Problem: How do I, without code duplication, declare dependency of all foo*.o to bar.h? Solutions so far: $(shell bash -c 'echo -ne foo{-pi,}.o'}: bar.h $(addsuffix .o, $(addprefix fo, o-pi o)): bar.h The first solution is not portable on systems that don't support bash, the second is a dirty solution since I could not figure out how to use empty strings in addprefix.

• Is it possible to remove folders from a web application build process in vs 2010?

  I had previously asked this question. At the time I was working with VS 2008. To restate the question. I have a web application that generates 1000's of small xml files in a certain directory. I would like to exclude this directory from the build process in visual studio 2010. With vs 2008 it was not possible. Has anything changed? Besides the general wait for VS to iterate through this directory with each build, it also strains my system resources, so I would like to exclude it from the project, but the dir and files need to physically exist on disk, because they are part of the application. Any OOB VS 2010 solutions, or any good workarounds? Thanks

  I have read a lot of approaches regarding placement of the footer in a webpage with CSS. Between others i found solutions, within SO too. The problem is (i think) that most of them, do not apply in asp pages. So the question is how can i place the footer with pure CSS in Asp pages? Before you post your answer, you have to take in mind the following. I use a master page (If this one has anything to do) The webpage contains the form element, which i believe destroys the placing of the footer in the bottom of the webpage. <form name="aspnetForm" method="post" action="Default.aspx" id="aspnetForm"> So, you may start down-voting, but i think a different approach exists regarding footer placement with CSS in Asp.Net pages

• Is there a way to use jquery without using the $ - accessor?

  I'am dealing here with a web application that defines somewhere in a java script file: $ = function() { return document.getElementById(arguments[0]); } Every other script, jsp page and dynamic content loaded from db depends on the semantic of the $ - sign working as 'document.getElementById'. Now i would like to start using jqery. So i think i have 2 options: refactor the existing application (all script files, jsp's, dynamic content etc.) somehow introduct jquery as something differnt than '$' (not really an option) don't start using jquery Are there any other solutions? What would you do?

• How can I test if an input field contains foreign characters?

  I have an input field in a form. Upon pushing submit, I want to validate to make sure the user entered non-latin characters only, so any foreign language characters, like Chinese among many others. Or at the very least test to make sure it does not contain any latin characters. Could I use a regular expression for this? What would be the best approach for this? I am validating in both javaScript and in PHP. What solutions can I use to check for foreign characters in the input field in both programming languages?

  Hi all! I generate *.hbm.xml mapping files and *.java file from the DB schema, with Hibernate tools. My question is, that is there any option, to generate service classes also? These are the classes where I implement the store(), find(), delete(), etc... methods. I know that for C# there are many solutions to generate almost everything. • Method for demonstrating iPad application in online meetings

  We have recently developed an iPad application and now need to start demonstrating it to customers and prospects as part of our overall product suite during webinars. As part of our Agile methodology, we also need to periodically review the application with key customers without having to distribute it since the application is not a standalone application and requires a connection to web services installed at each customer site. We have searched high and low for any solution that doesn't involve rooting the device but have been unable to find one. The most common suggestion seems to be to point a webcam at the device, but that comes across as very unprofessional. I know that there are VGA out adapters that can be plugged into the iPad and we have used these to present through a projector when the customer is physically present, but this is a relatively rare occurrence. Perhaps there are solutions that we are unaware of that can be used to send VGA output back into a desktop device for screen sharing?

• Problem using a costum server control in a aspx

  Hi guys, i am having a issue. I already developed one class (my custom gridview) and i want use it on a .aspx That class is defined in app_code and compiled to the dll of the project. namespace MyCostumControls{  public class DropDownPagingGridView : GridView{ ... I already registered the control on the aspx page using <%@ Register Namespace="MyCostumControls" TagPrefix="ctrl" % and i can use in the page and works ok.. But i'm watching one problem. That class contains methods defined by me, than when i try to call them in code-behind sayd to me than they're not defined. In designed i don't see the reference to MyCostumControls, and when i try declare one field using protected global::MyCostumControls.MyCostumControls ddl_gv_errors, i cannot access to MyCostumControls namespace, Is because he's compiled to the project dll? I can access to all namespaces than are not contained in app_code. Solutions? Apreciate. Thanks

  Hi all I have winxp with the latest service pack on my old laptop. I have a situation where I can Ping and status says connected but cannot browse. I have seen various post on the net proposing solutions that works for some and not for others I have tried reseting winsock but nothing. If I vpn to my work then I can browse. I would like to avoid reformatting the computer and not take such a drastic action. Any suggestions?

  I have a textarea that I want to enable vertical scrolling. When I exceed the height of the textarea, it increases in size. The scroll bar does not appear. I want that a vertical scroll bar appears and the users are not able to resize the text area as well. I searched online and tried solutions posted, but none seem to work.   I need an easy way to show different document-types (.doc, .xls, .jpg...) in webpages. Ideally a user prints or saves that document and that document is automatically converted to Adobe-Flash. I know there are existing solutions to this. However, I would like to implement them in my own application, written in C#. I have 4 sections: Section1, Section2, Section3, Section4 There are classes for each section, so I am hiding and showing based on the section. The problem is some classes need to be showin in Section1 and Section2. <div class="section1 section2"> blah blah </div> $('a.homeLink').click(function(){ $('.section1').show(); $('.section2, .section3, .section4').hide(); return false; }); As you see in this case I have a div in two sections, but as i thought would happen it remains hidden due to hiding class section2 work arounds or solutions?? thanks

• how to sort an existing table in greasemonkey ?

  i'm writing a greasemonkey user.js for a page with a table in it. (table is 100 rows by 18 columns.) now what i want to do is to make it sortable on column. and also have it run in both chrome and firefox. all searches for answers sofar resulted in suggestions to use jquery/dojo or something alike. can i be done without any external code? after all it's just a matter of replacing the row's in a different order, right? or is that a silly thing to say? the thing is that i'm already using dojo for some query needs but since i want it to run in both firefox and chrome, i just copy paste the whole dojo thing in my script.. also, most of the solutions i found sofar seem to be more for use when building a table. not for altering an existing one. any help is appreciated.

• How to exit a process run with C++ if it takes more than 5 seconds?

  I'm implementing a checking system in C++. It runs executables with different tests. If the solution is not correct, it can take forever for it to finish with certain hard tests. That's why I want to limit the execution time to 5 seconds. I'm using system() function to run executables: system("./solution"); .NET has a great WaitForExit() method, what about native C++?. I'm also using Qt, so Qt-based solutions are welcome. So is there a way to limit external process' execution time to 5 seconds? Thanks

As part of it, I want to store the standard service behaviors configuration like expose service metatdata, service debug, service throttling for a service inside database rather than in web/app.config. I was planing to store the configuration for a behavior in database as XML. For e.g. <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailsinFault=true / What I am struggling with is once I read this XML from database how do I create ServiceDebugBehavior instance from it and apply it to my service host? I have tried using XML Serializer but didn't had success. Any thoughts on how this could be achieved or any alternate solutions?

So I declared some functions within the plugin, which I want to call from any other location, just like an object with methods. Is that even possible? To keep it simple: (function( $ ){ $.fn.myPlugin = function(){ // Here I want methods... function foo() { // do something... } } })(jQuery); Then I want to call the inner function from outside the plugin like: $.myPlugin.foo(); But that doesn't seem to work. So is it even possible? Or are there any other solutions? I don't want to use an normal unrelated jQuery-Class for this purpose. Because this plugin should work together with some other jQuery-Plugins. Thank you

  Not that I need it, but it was interesting to hear someone speak about their server and protecting it from DOS attack by having a puzzle that the client must solve before the server will do anything (it doesnt do allocations or make a session unless solved). The person also said puzzles can be made to take a quick amount of time or long. And they are easy to check for correct solutions but difficult to solve. What are these puzzles? I never heard of one. Can someone give an example (or a link)?

  i have a problem in firing dropdownlist event i have following dropdown asp:dropdownlist id="ddlhello" Runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" onchange="javascript:return ChangeHeader();" i have also added event in code behind i.e. selectedindex change event. Now problem occurs when i execute the page, it executes javascript but server side code doesnot fire, but if i remove this line onchange="javascript:return ChangeHeader();" then server side code fires. when i checked source page it shows me two onchange events associated one for javascript and other for server side. i think that it is picking client side code and neglects server side. I am not pretty sure, so i want to know the behavior reason. And what is the way out for this. i want server and client side code to be executed. i have searched for solutions but i have not found any correct reason. please reply for the same.   We are trying to integrate visual website optimizer into a site of ours that uses Code Igniter. The problem is when we go into the VWO control panel to look at stats and previews nothing seems to be working. In the previews panel, all of them come up as code igniter error pages that say "The URI you submitted has disallowed characters." I have researched some solutions to this and have tried changing the regex in system/config to allow more characters, all characters etc and I am still having the problem. Any known issues or problems trying to integrate VWO and Code Igniter? This definitely seems to be a url issue but I can't nail it down.

• Calculating similarites between sentences

  I have datbase with thousands of rows of error logs and their description.This error log is for an application that running 24/7. I want to create a dashboard/UI to view the current common errors happening for prodcution support. The problem I am having is that even though there are lot of common errors, the error description differs by the transcation ID or user ID or things that are unique for that sigle prcoess. e.g Error trasaction XYz failed for user 233 e.g 2. Error trasaction XYz failed for user 567 I consider these two erros to be same. So I want to a program that will go through the new error logs and classify them into groups. I am trying to use "edit distance" but its very slow.Since I alraedy have old error logs, i am trying to think of solutions using that information too. Any thoughts?
