• CCSprite following a sequence of CGPoints

  I'm developing a line drawing game, similar to Flight Control, Harbor Master, and others in the appstore, using Cocos2D. For this game, I need a CCSprite to follow a line that the user has drawn. I'm storing a sequence of CGPoint structs in an NSArray, based on the points I get in the touchesBegin and touchesMoved messages. I now have the problem of how to make my sprite follow them. I have a tick method, that is called at the framerate speed. In that tick method, based on the speed and current position of the sprite, I need to calculate its next position. Is there any standard way to achieve this? My current approach is calculate the line between the last "reference point" and the next one, and calculate the next point in that line. The problem I have is when the sprite "turns" (moves from one segment of the line to another). Any hint will be greatly appreciated.

  Hi, I have an application which is using 24 bit fixed point calculation.I am porting it to a hardware which does support floating point, so for speed optimization I need to convert all fixed point based calculation to floating point based calculation. For this code snippet, It is calculating mantissa for(i=0;i<8207;i++) { // Do n^8/7 calculation and store // it in mantissa and exponent, scaled to // fixed point precision. } So since this calculation, does convert an integer to mantissa and exponent scaled to fixed point precision(23 bit). When I tried converting it to float, by dividing the mantissa part by precision bits and subtracting the exponent part by precision bit, it really does' t work. Please help suggesting a better way of doing it.

• How to make the subview in a UIScrollView to refresh when we zoom it?

  I have subclassed UIView object inside a uiscrollview which displays a pdf page. I can zoom that page. But when I do so, the inside view is zoomed and is getting blurred. I understood that the inner view shud be refreshed and i called setNeedsDisplay. But no change have happened and its the same even now. • Cookies not sent in WebBrowser? (C#, VS2008)

  Hi, I'm trying to add cookies to a webbrowser from a cookiecollection. I add them as they should be added but then they are not sent when the request is done. Here is the code I have done hitherto: public void myNav(string url, CookieCollection cc) { foreach (Cookie cook in cc) { webBrowser1.Document.Cookie = cook.ToString(); } this.webBrowser1.Navigate(url); Clipboard.SetText(webBrowser1.Document.Cookie); } If I copy the cookies to the clipboard they are sent correctly, but If I analyse the request with Wireshark they are not sent in the headers. • How to eliminate a sub-directory level from all URLs in Website

  I have a website and I just setup an os shopping cart (ie., Magento) I installed the cart in a sub-directory off the document root as /magento/ per the installation guidelines. So my web site cart's URL is http://mydomain.com/magento/ I have no public pages off the document root and I actually want my cart to be my home page -- in other words, I want http://mydomain.com/magento/ to resolve as http://mydomain.com/ Is it possible? Can I use mod-rewrite to make it happen? If so, can you suggest what the mod-rewrite directives would look like? Or is it simply a permanent redirect like: redirect 301 /magento http://mydomain.com/ Thanks.

  I have a WinForms based app with traditional MDI implementation within it except that I'm hosting WPF based UserControls via the ElementHost control as the main content for each of my MDI children. This is the solution recommended by Microsoft for achieving MDI with WPF although there are various side effects unfortunately. One of which is that my Ctrl+Tab functionality for tab switching between each MDI child is gone because the tab key seems to be swallowed up by the WPF controls. Is there a simple solution to this that will let the Ctrl+tab key sequences reach my WinForms MDI parent so that I can get the built-in tab switching functionality?

  I need an sql query to select some items from a table based on some condition which is based on a category field. As an example consider a list of people and I fetch the people from a particular age group from the database. I want to check if the result contains at least one result from each of a number of categories. If not I want to modify the age group by extending it and check the results again. This is repeated until I get an age group for which one result is present for each category. Right now i am doing this by analyzing the results and modifying the sql query. So a number of sql select queries are sent. What is the most efficient way of doing this? I am invoking the select queries from a java program using jdbc. I am using mysql database.

  SLOVED see commend I develop am webservice based on apache tomcat 6.0.26, apache cxf 2.2.7, spring 3.0, hibernate 3.3 and sybase sqlanywhere 11. im using the latest JDBC Driver from SYBASE jconn.jar Version 6. The persistence layer is based on spring + hibernate dao, the connection is configured via a JNDI datasoure (META-INF directory). It seems that, during longer times of inactivity, the connection from the webservice to the database is closed. Exception: java.sql.SQLException: JZ0C0: Connection is already closed.   Hi all, I am trying to grasp the link between OPC and DCOM. I have watched all four of the tutorials here and I think I have a good feeling for what OPC is, but in one of the tutorials (the third one 35 seconds in) the narrator states that OPC is based on DCOM, but I do not understand how the two are really linked. My confusion comes from a question my professor posed in which he asked "How and where would you deploy OPC instead of DCOM and vice-versa." His question makes it seem like the two are not as linked as my research suggests. I'm not looking for anyone to answer the question, I just want to know the relation between OPC and DCOM, then I can figure the rest out. Specifically I would like to know if: 1.) One is always based on the other 2.) One can always be deployed without the other.

• Libreoffice Calc run macro with HYPERLINK

  I'm trying to use hyperlinks instead of buttons to run Basic macros. It seems to be more natural to me because hyperlinks are directly connected to a cell and buttons are not. I'm using the following Formula: =HYPERLINK("vnd.sun.star.script:Standard.Module1.Test?language=Basic&location=document";"Check") It should call the Subroutine Test placed in the document's macros under Standard.Module1 and display the Text 'Check' in the Cell it is written. This works absolutely fine with libreoffice 3.6.1.2 but it doesn't work at all with version 4.1.4.2. I can't see any errors it just happens nothing at all. I tried to simply click the Hyperlink and also to hold CTRL and click it. Same result - nothing. When I use a button the macro works as expected. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

• Apply Button() to an element inside a variable

  If have a variable data = '<div>... <button id="remember"> ... </button> ...</div>', is it possible to apply the .button(); method to a button inside that variable? I've tried the following: $('#remember', data).button(); but that doesn't work. After that i just do $(data).dialog();, which works. I've come with a workaround and that's to append the variable data to the document, call the .button() and then call the .dialog(), but appending and removing dialog's divs on the document doesn't seems right.

• XML to DOC to PDF

  what is the easiest(and fastest) way to perform this kind of transformation: "Data in XML" to "Some MS Word 2003 Supported format" to PDF using Java? My first guess was to fill the template with XML data (using Placeholders for example) and then save it and convert it to PDF. But I can't just put placeholders to DOC files, and I can't convert from some other Word formats to PDF... My primary task is to convert XML Data to PDF allowing users to change the PDF on-demand. The best way to change the PDF on-demand seems to give user some kind of MS Word readable document, and then convert it back. There are 2 main problems with this task: 1) I can't use OpenOffice for conversion. 2) System should be able to convert ~1 page of table-based document per 1 second on 2Ghz Core. 3) RTF does not provide enough styling, so some more complex format should be used.   I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill?

• Hooking up Sproutcore frontend and custom Python backend

  Hello everyone, I am building a web-based application. The frontend has been designed in Sproutcore. For the backend, we have our own python API which handles all transactions with multiple databases. What is the best way to hook up the front-end with the back-end. AFAIK django is pretty monolithic (correct me if i am wrong) and it would be cumbersome if I dont use its native ORM...I would prefer a python-based solution..any ideas? thanks! Suvir

What does running Word on server implies? In order to get the Word example running, do the following on the server side. Worked for me... 1. Click START--RUN and enter "dcomcnfg" 2. In the "Applications" tab, go down to "Microsoft Word Document" 3. Click PROPERTIES button 4. Go to the "Security" Tab 5. Click "Use custom access permissions", and then click EDIT 6. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 7. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 8. Go back to the "Security" tab by hitting OK 9. Click "Use custom launch permissions", and the click EDIT 10. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 11. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 12. Hit OK, and then hit APPLY. Also, you should look at the "Identity" tab in the Microsoft Word Document PROPERTIES and see that it is set to "Interactive User" ALSO, log into the machine AS the IUSR_ account, start word, and make sure to click through the dialog boxes that Word shows the first time it is run for a certain user. • XML to be validated against multiple xsd schemas

  I'm writing the xsd and the code to validate, so I have great control here. I would like to have an upload facility that adds stuff to my application based on an xml file. One part of the xml file should be validated against different schemas based on one of the values in the other part of it. Here's an example to illustrate: <foo> <name>Harold</name> <bar>Alpha</bar> <baz>Mercury</baz> <!-- ... more general info that applies to all foos ... --> <bar-config> <!-- the content here is specific to the bar named "Alpha" --> </bar-config> <baz-config> <!-- the content here is specific to the baz named "Mercury" --> </baz> </foo> In this case, there is some controlled vocabulary for the content of <bar>, and I can handle that part just fine. Then, based on the bar value, the appropriate xml schema should be used to validate the content of bar-config. Similarly for baz and baz-config. The code doing the parsing/validation is written in Java. Not sure how language-dependent the solution will be. Ideally, the solution would permit the xml author to declare the appropriate schema locations and what-not so that s/he could get the xml validated on the fly in a sufficiently smart editor. Also, the possible values for <bar> and <baz> are orthogonal, so I don't want to do this by extension for every possible bar/baz combo. What I mean is, if there are 24 possible bar values/schemas and 8 possible baz values/schemas, I want to be able to write 1 + 24 + 8 = 33 total schemas, instead of 1 * 24 * 8 = 192 total schemas. Also, I'd prefer to NOT break out the bar-config and baz-config into separate xml files if possible. I realize that might make all the problems much easier, as each xml file would have a single schema, but I'm trying to see if there is a good single-xml-file solution.

• Spring Security - is Role and ACL security overkill?

  I have a 3 tier application that requires security authorizations be placed on various domain objects. Whether I use Spring's ACL implementation or roll my own, it seems to me that ACL based security can only be used to authorize (service) methods and cannot be used to authorize URL or web service invocations. I think this because how could a web service call check the ACL before it has hydrated the XML payload? Also, all the examples for web access security in the Spring documentation are securing URL's based on Role. Is it typical to use Spring's roles to secure web presentation and web service calls, while at the same time using ACL's to secure the business methods? Is this overkill?

  I have seen hooks in Kohana PHP framework, and they work as some sort of a callback function triggered by a certain event (Kohana's events that is, some sort of method overloading). I have seen hooks in Wordpress, and I don't know what they are or how to use them (just saw them yesterday). I'm looking for events in "non-frameworked" php, I cannot find ones. Do hooks work only in an "event-based" environment? What are they anyway (in general, not just in PHP)? What are they good for if not in an "event-based" environment.

I'm trying to do a xpath lookup on nodes returned by xpath lookup, but it doesn't seem to work as I expected.XPaths executed on the child nodes of a document seem to be executd against hthe root node of the document (in the example, the inventory tag.), instead of the root of the provided node. Am I missing something here? I'm new to XPath. Also, please don't answer "just do //book[author='Neal Stephenson'/title". I have a legitimate use case, and this is a simplified example.
