  • Data manipulation without server side

    Hi, I have to create a very simple webpage to show, filter and add data from not-yet-defined source (probably txt/xml/cvs). Records should be visible as a table, filtered using 3 criteria fields. There should be also possibility to add new records. My first thought was: XHTML + jQuery + csv2table + PicNet Table Filter. It does exactly what I want except adding rows - that is saving changes in source file (probably due to security risk). My question is - is there any possibility to do it without involving server side like asp.net, jee, php, sql? Source file is located on the server. Thanks for your ideas :-)

    Is there any way to stick child button element to bottom of parent element when number of child elements vary? Parent element is fixed height, and could be scrolled vertically in case of child overflow. In that case, button should be at the end of child list, but in case there is no children, or children size don't push parent element to overflow, it should be at bottom of parent element. Is there pure css solution for this? Thanks

    I've noticed this on a handful of websites on the web. Sometimes there will be a low humming sound, that doesn't increase or decrease with volume.     I have a table with fixed layout. On overflow, the contents of cells should clip from the left instead of the right. That is, if the width of the TD is less than the width of the text, the cell below should display "67890" instead of "12345". This needs to work in IE7+ at minimum. I could successfully set the focus for first element by using $(":input:visible:first").focus(); or $(':input:enabled:visible:first').focus(); , according to jquery, set focus on the first enabled input or select or textarea on the page . I tried to use something like $('select:first').focus(); or $("select").first().focus(); or $(':visible:first').focus(); or $('enabled:visible:first').focus(); or other variations I could think of, but have not succeeded.     If I am creating a website in ASP.NET, is it possible to programmatically set the title of the page be some predefined value with some extra information tacked on? For example: Home Page Title = Site Name Links Title = Site Name: Links Stuff Title = Site Name: Stuff Basically, whatever I defined as the main title on the page I'm currently on, I want to tack ": Name" onto the end of the title so it stays consistent across the website. I was thinking of defining it as a ContentPlaceHolder and wrapping some logic around it, but it doesn't appear to work how I thought it would (AKA, not at all).

    How would you find out the width of a element that is wrapped by 20 odd other elements, but the only fixed width I know is the main wrapper's which is 800px. All child elements are generally blocks, floating or not, with different paddings and margins. I don't really need the answer to a specific case, I'm just wondering if there are tools or tricks to quickly calculate such things. Thanks

  • Is there a way to delete a form element without using jQuery .remove()?

    Using .remove() so that the select all check box is not submitted to the server. However, it is visible to the user as the select all checkbox is "physically" removed from the web page, upon submit. Instead, I would like removing the select all check box to appear seamless but NOT on the server side. i.e. - I would like to keep the input on the page but remove the element in the form array before it is sent. Can I manipulate the element[] array of the form before it is sent to the server and delete it there? Thank you.

I am able to get the event notification whenever Google Finance page loads. Now problem is this that contents of this page is not accessible through javascript.   • Input type "Text" to have a blurred text, which dissappears onFocus?

    Some websites have forms with input type="text". And inside these textboxes there is a blurred text, which says for example: "Enter your name here". And then onClick or OnFocus or whatever, the text dissappears and you can type into the textbox. Like the title of posting a question here at stackoverflow, same thing. How is this done easiest way? Would prefer if there was not too much js involved. Thanks

  • Disabled Select drop down checking through PHP

    I have a couple of drop down boxes I access through POST with PHP. When the boxes are disabled and not equal to zero I have the program do something. However when they are disabled I do not want them to do anything. The way I check if the boxes are active is by using an if statement if ($_POST['box'] != "blank"){ //do something } So basically I check if the box is not in the default blank position run the if statement. However when it is disabled I am not sure how to check or what kind of value it returns if any. What can I add to the if statement so it will not go into the loop when the boxes are disabled? I tried: if ($_POST['box'] != "blank" || $_POST['box'] != ""){ //do something } But that did not work. Any ideas?

    Are there any alternatives to the :not css3 selector that are compliant with IE8 (and quirks mode). Either in css or javascript/jquery that emulates the selector or something similar. I am using *:not as follows below. Feel free to recommend a solution that avoids the use of :not completely. @media screen { #printable { visibility: hidden; } } @media print { *:not(#printable) { visibility: hidden; } #printable { position: absolute; visibility: visible; } } Note that the use of :not is tied to the use of @media print so just using a simple jQuery solution to apply css to $(":not(#printable)") won't work without being clever.
