  • prevent domain controller using wpad for windows update

    - by BeowulfNode42
We have a 2012 domain controller in an environment where we are running a web proxy auto discovery (WPAD) setup for client devices, and that proxy server requires authentication. However windows update does not support proxy servers requiring authentication. So we want to prevent windows update on our servers from using the WPAD proxy settings. On a domain member server we can log in to the local administrator account (not domain admin) and un-tick the the "Auto detect proxy settings" in IE internet options and that fixes the issue on those servers. But a domain controller does not have a local admin account, as that account is the domain admin account. Doing this to the domain admin account on the DC does not prevent it from using WPAD. Our whole purpose of running a proxy server that requires authentication is so we can identify what the users on our session based remote desktop servers are doing on the internet. See this MS KB Article for some info about Windows update and proxy servers "How the Windows Update client determines which proxy server to use to connect to the Windows Update Web site" - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900935

  • How to configure apache to basic authentication or allow when ntlm while proxying?

    - by trotzim
Here is my study case: browser --- apache proxy --- ISA server --- internet The ISA server requires an authentication. The issue is to allow HTTPS through the two proxies. A configuration that works with HTTP is something like this: (yes, I don't want to use ProxyPass but ProxyRequests) <virtualhost *:8080> ... SetEnv auth-proxy-chain on ... ProxyRequests On ProxyRemote * http://isaproxy:80 ... <proxy *> AuthName "ISA server auth" AuthType Basic [here a module to authenticate] require valid-user Allow from all </proxy> ... </virtualhost> The user can authenticate on the apache proxy then the authentication chain is sent to the ISA server that allows the HTTP trafic. But, while the browser switchs to HTTPS, the ISA server "speaks" NTLM and breaks the authentication on the apache proxy. If I try to use the SSPI module (ntlm) with something like this: blablabla <proxy *> AuthName "ISA server auth" AuthType ntlm [ SSPI stuff ] Require valid-user Allow from all </proxy> The apache server reject the authentication (or the ISA server I don't really know). I use wireshark to look at the nominal process while using directly the ISA server as proxy. The first auth-chain is a BASIC type then it switchs to NTLM (and the challenge continues with NTLM). How should I configure apache that it transfers the NTLM authentication to the ISA proxy without checking it(*)? Or to rewrite headers to force BASIC authentication? (*) It seems not to be as easy as it seems...

  • In China. Want to set up my own private proxy. Already have website/webhosting. Help please! n00b with respect to coding/programming, go easy on me [closed]

    - by user1725461
I am in China and have used freegate in the past -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freegate Recently I've been having too many problems with that and some other web-based proxies I usually use. I have a website that is hosted in the US which I can access from China. Is there an easy way for me to setup my own secure private proxy? I'm sick of all my internet problems and looking for a new workable solution. Thank you! PS: and I really hope this is the right place for such a question...

  • Yum through http proxy

    - by eodchop
Hello, I have several Fedora 13 servers that have to connect through an http proxy for yum updates. All port 80 traffic has to be routed through this proxy. I have setup the proxy server in the network settings GUI. I can browse the internet just fine. I have also setup my proxy information in /etc/yum.conf as follows: proxy=http:proxy.largecorp.corp/accelerated_pac_base.pac proxy_user=user proxy_password=password I then added the export HTTP_PROXY="http:proxy.largecorp.corp/accelerated_pac_base.pac" to /etc/bashrc and sourced the file. When i run yum update: Loaded plugins:presto, refresh-packagekit Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) fro repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again. All of the repo urls are the defaults, as this is a fresh install.

  • Python proxy an application

    - by sharvey
Does anyone know of a library that enables you to run an application inside some kind of sandbox, with virtual mouse and keyboard support. The use case would be to create some kind of visual test runner, that would replay all actions taken during recording and play them back. So far I found autopy, but the fact that it controls the real mouse position is problematic, because it prevents user interaction with other tools (debugger or anything) while running. Cross platform would be nice, but either windows or os x is fine. Python would be ideal but anything that you could create python bindings for would be ok too.

  • Reverse proxy for Tomcat

    - by aauser
I got following infrastructure. Site A - Tomcat. Can be access by url www.sitea.com Site B - php backend( or probably it will be just static html pages ). Can't be access directly. I want to forward all request comming to www.sitea.com/doforward/... (Tomcat) to php backend. And all other requests with other urls should be handled by Tomcat itself. I know i can add another web server in front of tomcat, for example nginx, and based on url forward request to php backed or tomcat backend. But i want tomcat to serve requests itself and forward it to another backend. Probably there are ready implementations for servlet containers like mod_proxy for apache. Thank you

  • Apache HTTPD as a proxy

    - by markovuksanovic
I need to redirect all the requests from localhost:8080/app1/ to localhost/app1. which is the best way to do it. The only requirement is that the user must never be aware that he is accessing the application at port 80. i guess I need to set up Apache HTTPD proxying - I'm just not sure which is the best way to do it. Thanks in advance.

  • "Automatic" class proxy in C++

    - by PierreBdR
I need to allow the user to change members of two data structures of the same type at the same time. For example: struct Foo { int a, b; } Foo a1 = {1,2}, a2 = {3,4}; dual(a1,a2)->a = 5; // Now a1 = {5,2} and a2 = {5,2} I have a class that works and that change first a1 and then copy a1 into a2. This is fine as long as: the class copied is small the user doesn't mind about everything being copied, not only the part modified. Is there a way to obtain this behavior: dual(a1,a2)->a = 5; // Now a1 = {5,2} and a2 = {5,4} I am opened to alternative syntax, but they should stay simple, and I would like to avoid things like: set_members(a1, a2, &Foo::a, 5); members(a1, a2, &Foo::a) = 5; or anything involving specifying explictely &Foo::

  • Differences between how OS X Snow Leopard and Lion interface with a proxy?

    - by Antoni
We have a proxy at school, which requires a login/password, and blocks a certain number of sites that aren't "school related" (facebook, youtube, etc.) While I'm able to get through to most things, people who've upgraded to Lion can't get through to anything, even though I've replicated my proxy/network settings on their machines. Is it possible that the difference in OS versions is causing this? I have Snow Leopard, they have Lion.

  • Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin not working with mod_rewrite + mod_jk

    - by tharant
My first question on here on SF so please forgive me if I manage to bork the post. :) Anyways, I'm using mod_rewrite on one of my machines with a simple rule that redirects to a webapp on another machine. I'm also setting the header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' on both machines. The problem is that when I hit the rewrite rule, I loose the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header setting. Here's an example of the Apache config for the first machine: NameVirtualHost 10.0.0.2:80 <VirtualHost 10.0.0.2:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/host.example.com ServerName host.example.com JkMount /webapp/* jkworker Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*" RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/otherhost http://otherhost.example.com/webapp [R,L] </VirtualHost> And here's an example of the Apache config for the second: NameVirtualHost 10.0.1.2:80 <VirtualHost 10.0.1.2:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/otherhost.example.com ServerName otherhost.example.com JkMount /webapp/* jkworker Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*" </VirtualHost> When I hit host.example.com we see that the header is set: $ curl -i http://host.example.com/ HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily Server: Apache/2.2.11 (FreeBSD) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.7e-p1 DAV/2 mod_jk/1.2.26 Content-Length: 0 Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * Content-Type: text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1 And when I hit otherhost.example.com we see that it too is setting the header: $ curl -i http://otherhost.example.com HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: Apache/2.0.46 (Red Hat) Location: http://otherhost.example.com/index.htm Content-Length: 0 Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * Content-Type: text/html;charset=UTF-8 But when I try to hit the rewrite rule at host.example.com/otherhost we get no love: $ curl -i http://host.example.com/otherhost/ HTTP/1.1 302 Found Server: Apache/2.2.11 (FreeBSD) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.7e-p1 DAV/2 mod_jk/1.2.26 Location: http://otherhost.example.com/ Content-Length: 0 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Can anybody point out what I'm doing wrong here? Could mod_jk be part of the problem?

  • Configure mod_wsgi WSGIScriptAlias with mod_rewrite

    - by Lazik
I want to redirect ex.com to www.ex.com but I still want www.ex.com/ to point to my app.wsgi without it showing up in the url. When I use the conf below and I go to ex.com, I get a 404 error saying can't find www.ex.com/app.wsgi/ If I change the WSGIScriptAlias / /var/www/vhosts/ex/app.wsgi to WSGIScriptAlias /app.wsgi /var/www/vhosts/ex/app.wsgi Then all my url look like www.ex.com/app.wsgi/blabla/... Is it possible to use some kind of rule to redirect ex.com to www.ex.com and still keeping / as the app.wsgi root? my conf file <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.ex.com ServerAlias ex.com *.ex.com RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.
