  I just built myself an new workstation and now only 2 of 3 monitors are working. I built the nvidia driver by downloading it and installing with ./Nvidia... Before when I ran nvidia-settings I saw two GPUs listed but now I only see one.   I have just installed KUbuntu 12.10, and I am attempting to rotate my monitor 90 deg to the left. When I add the option to rotate, the monitor seems to ignore the directive. When I've then turned the laptop on, I've got taskbar's "quick launch" area disappeared and all and every system tray (notification area) icons displayed (and the arrow-in-a-bubble usually folding to hide most of them gone). I've then successfully turned on "show quick launch" option, but "hide inactive icons" was already on. I've turned it off, applied, closed "taskbar and start menu properties", then opened again to turn the option back on, applied, restarted, nothing changes. Now I have to have all the system tray icons always displayed. Any ideas what may the reason be and how to fix? The OS is Windows XP Pro SP3 with all the updates.

I would like 'Print to File' to be the default 'printer' without using cups-pdf I specifically do not want to use cups-pdf because of the way it renders text (see below). I am not entirely sure what it is doing but it seems as though it renders the text as bitmaps and embeds them in pdf (as I am not able to highlight/copy/search embedded text as I am using a standard Print to File pdf). • Why is Backbone.js a bad option in the Technology radar 2012 of thoughtworks?

  In the latest Technology Radar 2012 they state that Backbone.js has pushed to far on it's MVC abstraction and say that Knockout.js or Angular.js should be used instead. I cannot get why they think that Backbone.js model is bad, for me it's just a way to create a standard so people can have some kind of roadmap to dev frontend JS without Spaghetti code. Also for me Angular and Knockout solve a different problem, I like both of them but having to code all MVC classes is something I think is kind of a rework. The thing is simple easy extendable and fast to learn, comes with a lot of goodies and is easy to combine with other Frameworks. (see Knockback.js) Can anybody tell me what made it so bad to their eyes ?

  Hi, I ssh to a machine and I would like to start a qemu session inside this ssh session. I thought that the nographic option would do the trick. -nographic Normally, QEMU uses SDL to display the VGA output. With this option, you can totally disable graphical output so that QEMU is a simple command line application. The emulated serial port is redirected on the console. Therefore, you can still use QEMU to debug a Linux kernel with a serial console. but unfortunately, i don't see any output. The command line that i'm using once i've sshed to my machine is : qemu-system-x86_64 -hda debian.img -nographic any idea ? thanks.

Setting it to its native resolution gives you a screen with a large portion of the left side of the screen cut off. • Android Loading Screen: How do I go about using a stack to load elements, and the option of incrementing the size counter?

  I have some problems with figuring out what value I should put in the function: int value_needed_to_figure_out = X; ProgressBar.incrementProgressBy(value_needed_to_figure_out); I've been researching about loading screens and how to use them. Some examples I've seen have implemented Thread.sleep() in a Handler.post(new Runnable()) function. To me, I got most of that concept of using the Handler to update the ProgressBar, while pretending to do some heavy crunching work. So, I kept looking. I have read this thread here: How do I load chunks of data from an assest manager during a loading screen? It said that I can try using a stack it needs to load, and adding a size counter as I add elements to the stack. What does it mean? This is the part where I'm totally stumped. • Getting trayer to work with dual screen setup

  I'm using XMonad as my window manager, and want to use trayer as a icon panel for things like nm-applet. The problem was that the panel wouldn't appear on the top of the screen. If I set it to the bottom it just appeared. After a lot of trying, I found out it is because my xorg.conf is setup for dualscreens, and probably the trayer panel is spawned outside my view (I currently have only a single screen, but I switch a lot). After manualy tweaking the xorg.conf file to allow for just one screen, the panel appears on the right spot.   According to my understanding a default constructor initializes the state of the object to default values, so if i provide an explicit no-arg public constructor like this then how are the values of d and e still getting initialized to zero because in this case the default constructor is not invoked. public class B extends A{ private int d; private int e; public B() { System.out.println(d); System.out.println(e); } } EDIT:: The only thing default constructor does is call to super() then how come if i have a explicitly mentioned a constructor here and A has a protected variable say c which is initialized to 17 in its constructor. Should I not be explicitly calling super() to be able to see that change since I'm using my own constructor ? Why is B still getting the value of 17 through inheritance ?

• How to auto-generate early bound properties for Entity specific (ie Local) Option Set text values?

  After spending a year working with the Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk namespace, I just discovered yesterday the Entity.FormattedValues property contains the text value for Entity specific (ie Local) Option Set texts. The reason I didn't discover it before, is there is no early bound method of getting the value. i.e. entity.new_myOptionSet is of type OptionSetValue which only contains the int value. You have to call entity.FormattedValues["new_myoptionset"] to get the string text value of the OptionSetValue. Therefore, I'd like to get the crmsrvcutil to auto-generate a text property for local option sets. i.e. Along with Entity.new_myOptionSet being generated as it currently does, Entity.new_myOptionSetText would be generated as well. I've looked into the Microsoft.Crm.Services.Utility.ICodeGenerationService, but that looks like it is mostly for specifying what CodeGenerationType something should be... Is there a way supported way using CrmServiceUtil to add these properties, or am I better off writing a custom app that I can run that can generate these properties as a partial class to the auto-generated ones? Edit - Example of the code that I would like to be generated Currently, whenever I need to access the text value of a OptionSetValue, I use this code: var textValue = OptionSetCache.GetText(service, entity, e => e.New_MyOptionSet); The option set cache will use the entity.LogicalName, and the property expression to determine the name of the option set that I'm asking for. It will then query the SDK using the RetrieveAttriubteRequest, to get a list of the option set int and text values, which it then caches so it doesn't have to hit CRM again. It then looks up the int value of the New_MyOptionSet of the entity and cross references it with the cached list, to get the text value of the OptionSet. Instead of doing all of that, I can just do this (assuming that the entity has been retrieved from the server, and not just populated client side): var textValue = entity.FormattedValues["new_myoptionset"]; but the "new_myoptionset" is no longer early bound.   In F# mantra there seems to be a visceral avoidance of null, Nullable<T> and its ilk. In exchange, we are supposed to instead use option types. To be honest, I don't really see the difference. My understanding of the F# option type is that it allows you to specify a type which can contain any of its normal values, or None. For example, an Option<int> allows all of the values that an int can have, in addition to None. My understanding of the C# nullable types is that it allows you to specify a type which can contain any of its normal values, or null. For example, a Nullable<int> a.k.a int? allows all of the values that an int can have, in addition to null. What's the difference? Do some vocabulary replacement with Nullable and Option, null and None, and you basically have the same thing. What's all the fuss over null about?
