  • How to execute PHPUnit?

    PHPUnit can execute script like this: phpunit --log-junit classname filename.php (i need the XML report , for my continus integreation platform) but my problem is that i work with a MVC framework and all pages are called through pathofproject/indexCLI.php module=moduleName class=className ect with 3 arguments in total(when i use the shell commande and path/index.php argum=... with url) so i cant call phpunit pathofproject/indexCLI.php module=moduleName class=className . So i think to a lot of solution , i hope you can help me to use one of them. first how can i use phpunit commande with this type of calling, because i cant do it because he is waiting a classname and a filename (default comportement) if it possible !! when i call the same link in shell like this : php path/indexCLI.php module="blabla" ect ... i have the result of assertion in my consol , but cant use XML Junit option , can i do it ? my last solution is to call the link in a navigator like mozzila , but i dont know how to say to phpunit runner to chose XML report and not HTML report. the aim for me , is to have a XML report .

  • A PHP object server for business logic

    I wonder if such a thing is possible or even exist : In the MVC pattern, I would like to have the Model part to be persistant in memory, instead of reloading my instances at each execution. So I want only the Controller and View part to be executed. Is there any solution of server that would provide PHP objects (just like a Mysql server provides data records), and that keeps these objects in memory ? A problem would be also : how to have a constructed query to get objects ? Maybe PHP Linq ?

    I'm trying to transfer a site from one hosting company to another. I was using 000webhost until the client had hosting and a domain. Now that the client has their domain and hosting, using FatCow.com, I can not for the life of me, debug my PHP code. I'm not getting any errors. I have a successful DB connection. If you procedurally display data, it works, but when I try to use my original objects, something is breaking and just returns "0:". I have all errors on. On old server where the site worked: PHP Version 5.2.11 MySQL Version: 5.0.81 On new server where I get the "0:": PHP Version 5.2.12 MySQL Version 5.0.32 I've setup a test page to test just the output of the variables with the DB connection.     I'm creating an application that I want to run on either MySQL or SQL Server (not both at the same time) I've created two PHP classes DatabaseMySQL and DatabaseSQLSVR and I'd like my application to know which database class to use based on a constant set up at install. define(DB_TYPE, "mysql"); // or "sqlsrv" I'm trying to think of the best way to handle this. My thought is to do an "if else" wherever I instantiate the database: $db = (DB_TYPE == "mysql") ? new DatabaseMySQL : new DatabaseSQLSVR; I know there has to be a better way of doing this though. Suppose I want to add a third database type later; I'll have to go and redo all my code. Yuk!! Any help would be much appreciated. Thank

  • PHPIniDir broken under windows 7?

    I had a server running on a windows xp machine using apache2 with php and mysql. I've recently upgraded to windows 7 and have been having trouble getting it to work. Apache works fine and php works, but I can't seem to get it to work with a php.ini file. When I set PHPIniDir to a directory with a php.ini file, the Apache service does NOT start. When I set PHPIniDir to a directory with NO php.ini file, the Apache service does start. When I leave out PHPIniDir, the Apache service does not start. Has anyone found a fix for this problem? Thanks! EDIT: PHPIniDir "C:\Windows" #works (no php.ini file) PHPIniDir "C:\Program Files (x86)\php\" #does not work (contains php.ini file) i enable at most one at any given time.

  • In a PHP project, how do you organize and access your helper objects?

    How do you organize and manage your helper objects like the database engine, user notification, error handling and so on in a PHP based, object oriented project? Say I have a large PHP CMS. The CMS is organized in various classes. A few examples: the database object user management an API to create/modify/delete items a messaging object to display messages to the end user a context handler that takes you to the right page a navigation bar class that shows buttons a logging object possibly, custom error handling etc. I am dealing with the eternal question, how to best make these objects accessible to each part of the system that needs it. my first apporach, many years ago was to have a $application global that contained initialized instances of these classes. global $application; $application->messageHandler->addMessage("Item successfully inserted"); I then changed over to the Singleton pattern and a factory function: $mh =&factory("messageHandler"); $mh->addMessage("Item successfully inserted"); but I'm not happy with that either. Unit tests and encapsulation become more and more important to me, and in my understanding the logic behind globals/singletons destroys the basic idea of OOP. Then there is of course the possibility of giving each object a number of pointers to the helper objects it needs, probably the very cleanest, resource-saving and testing-friendly way but I have doubts about the maintainability of this in the long run. Most PHP frameworks I have looked into use either the singleton pattern, or functions that access the initialized objects. Both fine approaches, but as I said I'm happy with neither. I would like to broaden my horizon on what is possible here and what others have done. I am looking for examples, additional ideas and pointers towards resources that discuss this from a long-term, real-world perspective. Also, I'm interested to hear about specialized, niche or plain weird approaches to the issue.   • PHP - Resize an image and fill gaps of proportions with a color

    I am uploading logos to my system, and they need to fix in a 60x60 pixel box. I have all the code to resize it proportionately, and that's not a problem. My 454x292px image becomes 60x38. The thing is, I need the picture to be 60x60, meaning I want to pad the top and bottom with white each (I can fill the rectangle with the color). The theory is I create a white rectangle, 60x60, then I copy the image and resize it to 60x38 and put it in my white rectangle, starting 11px from the top (which adds up to the 22px of total padding that I need. I would post my code but it's decently long, though I can if requested. Does anyone know how to do this or can you point me to code/tutorial that does this?

    Hey, I'm not sure that silly question, but I ask: So, if there is an anonymous function I can give it as another anonymous functions parameter, if it has been already stored a variable. But, whats in that case, if I have stored only one function in a variable, and add the second directly as a parameter into it? Can I add parameters to the non-stored function?     Let's suppose I have the following line in a CSV file (I removed the header row in this example): "500,000",2,50,2,90000 I have a PHP script read the CSV file, break the file into individual lines, and store each line in an array called $linearray. Then, I use a foreach loop to look at each line individually. Within the foreach loop, I break the line into separate variables using the following function: $line = str_replace("'","\'",$line); From here, I insert the values into separate columns within a MySQL database. The script works. The values are inserted into a database, but I run into a problem. I want: "500,000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 But I get this: "500 | 000" | 2 | 50 | 2 | 90000 The script isn't smart enough to understand it should skip commas within quotation marks. Do you know how I can alter my script to make sure I get the output I'm looking for? Thanks.

  • PHP Socket Server vs node.js: Web Chat

    I want to program a HTTP WebChat using long-held HTTP requests (Comet), ajax and websockets (depending on the browser used). Userdatabase is in mysql. Chat is written in PHP except maybe the chat stream itself which could also be written in javascript (node.js): I don't want to start a php process per user as there is no good way to send the chat messages between these php childs. So I thought about writing an own socket server in either PHP or node.js which should be able to handle more then 1000 connections (chat users). As a purely web developer (php) I'm not much familiar with sockets as I usually let web server care about connections. The chat messages won't be saved on disk nor in mysql but in RAM as an array or object for best speed. As far as I know there is no way to handle multiple connections at the same time in a single php process (socket server), however you can accept a great amount of socket connections and process them successive in a loop (read and write; incoming message - write to all socket connections). The problem is that there will most-likely be a lag with ~1000 users and mysql operations could slow the whole thing down which will then affect all users. My question is: Can node.js handle a socket server with better performance? Node.js is event-based but I'm not sure if it can process multiple events at the same time (wouldn't that need multi-threading?) or if there is just an event queue. With an event queue it would be just like php: process user after user. I could also spawn a php process per chat room (much less users) but afaik there are singlethreaded IRC servers which are also capable to handle thousands of users. (written in c++ or whatever) so maybe it's also possible in php. I would prefer PHP over Node.js because then the project would be php-only and not a mixture of programming languages. However if Node can process connections simultaneously I'd probably choose it.
