    I have these classes class Match { int MatchID, int TeamID, //used to reference Team ... other fields } Note: Match actually have 2 teams which means 2 TeamID class Team { int TeamID, string TeamName } In my view I need to display List<Match> showing the TeamName. So I added another field class Match { int MatchID, int TeamID, //used to reference Team ... other fields string TeamName; } I can now do Match m = getMatch(id); m.TeamName = getTeamName(m.TeamId); //get name from database But for a List<Match>, getTeamName(TeamId) will go to the database to fetch TeamName for each TeamID. For a page of 10 Matches per page, that could be (10x2Teams)=20 trip to database. To avoid this, I had the idea of loading everything once, store it in memory and only lookup the TeamName in memory. This made me have a rethink that what if the records are 5000 or more. What pattern is used to solve this and how?

  • Clicking on active apps on unity launcher stopped working

    I don't know how it suddenly became this but here's what's happening right now: e.g. I have 2 firefox windows open, so I see 2 small arrows on the left side icon of the unity launcher. Before, when I click on the firefox icon, I see 2 small windows of the firefox so I can choose which one. Now it suddenly stopped working. (super+W still works though). The bug on my system applies to all progams with multiple window instances like nautilus, terminal, etc. Please help, I don't know what to do. I also have cairo dock, compiz, myunity installed in my 12.04. I tried searching online to no avail.

    I have to say that in most of my time as a network engineer I have had the opportunity to play with servers, but mostly it's been to put our management software on, and that was about it. I have been a Systems Network Engineer for about three months now, and as such I have been respnosible for the configuration of our test devices... this being said, I have had to start working through how to configure and apply such things as GPO through a new forest, domain and OU. This being said I have configured about three different GPO's and applied them to different locations. The first laptop that I brought into the domain took the default Domain group Policy... this was cool, I got excited... then When I tried to bring in the second Laptop, it didn't take the policy. I looked at the configuration, and the default domain policy was applied to domain computers, however since the laptop resides in the SBS Computers of the OU that was created, SBS created individual policies for XP and Vista for that OU, which I was unaware of. So the default policy for that ou overrode the domain policy and none of the options that were defined in the Domain policy were applied... this being said, I am now working on putting the default Domain as an applicable policy in the OU, thus I won't have to reconfigure another policy to mirror the Domain Policy... here goes nothing!!!....   • Changing Workspaces changes active window

    I have a dual monitor setup, but I am sure it's the same with a single monitor. If I have two applications open, one is vim, the other is google chrome. Lets say the focus is on vim. If I switch to another workspace (ie. alt3) then switch back to that workspace (ie. alt1) now the focus is on google chrome. This process toggles indefinitely so long as I don't transition too quickly. Is there any way to prevent/disable this?

    In my previous post, I introduced my problem, but I didn’t explain the problem with Entity Framework When you try the solution indicated you will take the following error: LINQ to Entities don’t recognize the method 'System.String Join(System.String, System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[System.String])’ of the method, and this method can’t be translated into a stored expression.   • Print Screen key doesn't work if a drop-down menu is active

    On 11.10, I don't get a screengrab when pressing the Print Screen button on my keyboard if I have activated a drop down menu. For example, in nautilus, I can click the File menu and press the print screen button, nothing happens. Deactivating the drop down menu and all other things being equal, it works. Is that normal? Often when using this thing I'm actually needing to show some of those menu options. Currently I use the workaround to grab after a delay of a few seconds, but I'm used to the print screen button working no matter what's in focus and would prefer it that way.

In there, I learned that: I should avoid too high a volume, to prevent clipping I should avoid too low a volume, to prevent loss of resolution The question now is: What is too high a volume? What is too low? I am setting the volume via the GUI for sound config. It has an unamplified setting, a 100% setting, and volumes beyond 100%. After 100%, is there still resolution loss? How can I tell if there is clipping going on (given that my recording program is the non-GUI ffmpeg)?

  • PowerBroker (Likewise-Open) + Ubuntu 13.04 -> 13.10 Upgrade

    I just upgraded Ubuntu from 13.04 to 13.10, and now I can't log into Active Directory; my system is integrated using PowerBroker Identity Services (PBIS), which used to be called Likewise-Open. So far I have identified the following symptoms: I am able to log in with my credentials via ssh. The screen goes black when attempting log into my account via the login screen. I've tried leaving the domain, purging PBIS, and re-installing the latest version of PBIS. I've been trying the troubleshooting section I found here, but I haven't had any success.   • Log a user in to an ASP.net application using Windows Authentication without using Windows Authentic

    I have an ASP.net application I'm developing authentication for. I am using an existing cookie-based log on system to log users in to the system. The application runs as an anonymous account and then checks the cookie when the user wants to do something restricted. This is working fine. However, there is one caveat: I've been told that for each page that connects to our SQL server, I need to make it so that the user connects using an Active Directory account. because the system I'm using is cookie based, the user isn't logged in to Active Directory. Therefore, I use impersonation to connect to the server as a specific account. However, the powers that be here don't like impersonation; they say that it clutters up the code. I agree, but I've found no way around this. It seems that the only way that a user can be logged in to an ASP.net application is by either connecting with Internet Explorer from a machine where the user is logged in with their Active Directory account or by typing an Active Directory username and password. Neither of these two are workable in my application. I think it would be nice if I could make it so that when a user logs in and receives the cookie (which actually comes from a separate log on application, by the way), there could be some code run which tells the application to perform all network operations as the user's Active Directory account, just as if they had typed an Active Directory username and password. It seems like this ought to be possible somehow, but the solution evades me. How can I make this work? Update To those who have responded so far, I apologize for the confusion I have caused. The responses I've received indicate that you've misunderstood the question, so please allow me to clarify. I have no control over the requirement that users must perform network operations (such as SQL queries) using Active Directory accounts. I've been told several times (online and in meat-space) that this is an unusual requirement and possibly bad practice. I also have no control over the requirement that users must log in using the existing cookie-based log on application. I understand that in an ideal MS ecosystem, I would simply dis-allow anonymous access in my IIS settings and users would log in using Windows Authentication. This is not the case. The current system is that as far as IIS is concerned, the user logs in anonymously (even though they supply credentials which result in the issuance of a cookie) and we must programmatically check the cookie to see if the user has access to any restricted resources. In times past, we have simply used a single SQL account to perform all queries. My direct supervisor (who has many years of experience with this sort of thing) wants to change this. He says that if each user has his own AD account to perform SQL queries, it gives us more of a trail to follow if someone tries to do something wrong. The closest thing I've managed to come up with is using WIF to give the user a claim to a specific Active Directory account, but I still have to use impersonation because even still, the ASP.net process presents anonymous credentials to the SQL server. It boils down to this: Can I log users in with Active Directory accounts in my ASP.net application without having the users manually enter their AD credentials? (Windows Authentication)

    I have a Java app that can authenticate to LDAP by logging users into the AD LDAP server with the NTLM name (which they are used to - this is a requirement). I now also need to do authorization, and hence need to find a forest-unique identifier for the user (DN or UPN should work), from which I can further query the directory. The method needs to be absolutely portable, even if the AD is structured in an unusual fashion, otherwise I could just do a string replacement and search for a UPN of "${ntlm-user}@${ntlm-domain}.${configured-trailing-domain}" How can I do this, using pure LDAP? Currently, I'm using the java.naming.directory package, which I'd like to keep using, since it doesn't throw up problems when not binding with a DN but logging in with an NTLM name?

    I know it's possible to deploy earlier versions of the .NET framework using AD deployment, for example: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc160717.aspx. How do it do this for .NET 4? I tried unpacking the standalone .NET 4 installer and deploying the netfx_Extended_x86.msi package. This didn't work. After a reboot the event log shows that it tried but it failed to install with a message saying to run setup.exe.

What I'm finding here is that this code does not behave correctly. It removes users, but it doesn't do it after the first run. It does "some". Then I run it again, and again, and again - depending on how many users need to be deleted in a group. I'm not sure why it's functioning this way. Can someone help fix this code or provide an alternative method to delete all users in a group? Thanks!

Testing this process using a simple CNAME entry keeps pointing to the primary domain and not the subdomain where it should be going. This is the scenario; (newdomain.com is in my control) cdn.xyz.com should display content from this subdomain subdomain.newdomain.com It is instead displaying content from newdomain.com (not the subdomain sub domain) cdn.xyz.com/page.htm displays content from newdomain.com/page.htm although what I need is it to display content from subdomain.newdomain.com/page.htm Other Background: setup is between two different servers with different IP ranges although DNS cluster is on between all servers the newdomain.com is set up with its own unique IP (which is on the A records for the subdomains, the subdomains work as expected/normal) the DNS entry is correct (cdn CNAME subdomain.newdomain.com.) ie the end period is included a DNS lookup on the CNAME externally reports back as subdomain.newdomain.com. as the record Does anyone know what DNS entries I am missing to get this working correctly ? Note: I do not want to just put a redirect between domains as I need the content of subdomain.newdomain.com/content.html to be visible via the URL of cdn.xyz.com/content.html also I can just use some redirects on newdomain.com to achieve what I am after but would prefer to just get the DNS correct. EDIT Current DNS cdn CNAME subdomain.newdomain.com. || CNAME entry for domain1 subdomain A XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX || A record entry for working subdomain pointing to unique IP What should happen is that cdn.domain1.com - subdomain.newdomain.com What is happening is cdn.domain1.com - newdomain.com (ie. the root not the subdomain) EDIT 2 Actually if its easier I am trying to emulate a simple cloud setup like Rackspace Containers (which I assume is similar to Buckets on AWS). although it is not for cloud storage Where a container has a url reference of hd62321678d323.rackspace.com (in truth they are much longer) so I can use a CNAME record of: cdn CNAME hd62321678d323.rackspace.com. so that http://cdn.mydomain.com/myfile.jpg displays content from http://hd62321678d323.rackspace.com/myfile.jpg

  • Is this SPF record correct for me?

    I'm completely new to Stack Overflow, so Hi! I need to add an SPF record to my site "main.com" (not the real address) to allow an email publishing company "emailpublishers.com" (not the real address) to send emails on my behalf. However, I'm nervous about adding an SPF record because of the havoc it could wreak if done incorrectly. I use Google Apps. I also use "auxiliary.com" to send mail from "main.com." And, of course, I use "main.com" to send mail as well. "auxiliary.com" doesn't have an SPF record. I used Microsofts' and OpenSPF's wizards to generate the following SPF entry. Does it seem to be correct for me? "v=spf1 a mx ip4:55.55.555.55 mx:alt1.aspmx.l.google.com mx:alt2.aspmx.l.google.com mx:aspmx.l.google.com mx:aspmx2.googlemail.com mx:aspmx3.googlemail.com mx:aspmx4.googlemail.com mx:aspmx5.googlemail.com a:auxiliary.com include:_spf.google.com include:auxiliary.com mx:auxiliary.com include:emailpublishers.com mx:emailpublishers.com ~all" However, my host MediaTemple says in a knowledge base article to use: v=spf1 a:main.com/20 ~all So that added to my confusion.
