    I am writing a utility to audit the configuration of a WCF service. In order to properly pass credentials from the client, thru the WCF service back to the SQL back end the domain account used to run the service must be configured in Active Directory with the setting "Trust this user for delegation" (Properties - "Delegation" tab). Using C#, how do I access the settings on this tab in Active Directory. I've spent the last 5 hours trying to track this down on the web and can't seem to find it. I think it is tied to the "Account Options" section on the "Account" tab, which is not what we're looking for but this is the closest I've gotten so far. The justification for all this is: We do not have permission to setup the service in QA or in Production, so along with our written instructions (which are notoriously only followed in partial) I am creating a tool that will audit the setup (WCF and SQL) to determine if the setup is correct. This will allow the person deploying the service to run this utility and verify everything is setup correctly - saving us hours of headaches and reducing downtime during deployment.

    If I ask what the following books have in common: "Accelerated C# 2010, C# in Depth, Pro C# 2008", the answer would be that they would help me to improve my understanding of C# and secondly, my general coding skills. What language-specific/tech-specific books (like those named above) would teach me a great deal about general programming techniques and good habits? I'm thinking Java books would be very good for me (I code in C# primarily), as both these languages are similar and so I am sure that specialist books on Java threading, performance tuning, etc, can be applied to C# (not all 100% content of a Java book).     I would like to setup a machine with Windows Server 2008 R2 Server Core and install following server roles: Active Directory Domain Services Active Directory Federation Services Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (I'm not sure whether I actually need this one - see note below) I'm obviously going to install Enterprise Edition. Question Can I have an AD administration graphical user interface to manage Active Directory on Server Core machine? I would really like to have it, because I'm not so keen to do stuff using power-shell, because I've never managed AD as well, so a GUI would be much more helpful, because I could at least visualize it a bit better and maybe understand AD structures. Note: I'm setting up development environment machine as well and installing Sharepoint Foundation 2010 on in so it would use this AD machine.

    I want to use multiple backgrounds in css, which are currently supported by Firefox 3.61, Chrome/Safari, supposedly Opera10.5 (doesn't run on gnu/linux). It is working fine, however i would like to use linear-gradients as a background. it works ok for Firefox, doesn't work at all with Chrome, yet i can't figure out how to make it work for both at the same time. any clues? http://snook.ca/archives/html_and_css/multiple-bg-css-gradients came the closest to match what i need, but i couldn't get it to work with chrome yet.

  • Test For CSS3 Radial Gradient Vendor Syntax

    I'm having an issue where I'm trying to update the background gradient of an element with JavaScript based on values I specify. I tried this route: elem.style.backgroundImage = '-webkit-gradient(radial, '+x+' '+y+', 0, '+x+' '+y+', 800, from(#ccc), to(#333)), -moz-radial-gradient('+x+'px '+y+'px, circle cover, #ccc 0, #333 100%)'; Since Webkit and Gecko have two different syntaxes for CSS3 gradients, I need to specify both. However, the above code doesn't work. It works if I only have just the Gecko syntax or just the Webkit syntax, not both. I think you can check for CSS gradient support, but my question is, is there a way to check which syntax needs to be used without browser sniffing? Keep in mind that I need to set my gradients this way since the x and y coordinates of the gradient change dynamically. Hope this makes sense, thanks.

I've tried using FilePermission but though i have a directory with all the permissions (777) the FilePermission class always returns an exception java.security.AccessControlException: Access denied (java.io.FilePermission /home/directory read) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:103) at com.snippets.Check4DirectoryPermission.checker(Check4DirectoryPermission.java:50) at com.snippets.Check4DirectoryPermission.main(Check4DirectoryPermission.java:70) is there another way to do this?

    As far as I know, the time complexity of scanning a directory and the amount of files in said directory are correlated due to I/O costs. Would the administrative costs of placing the files in a hashed directory tree for uploading/downloading files through a CDN API be worth it for the added efficiency? For instance, given a filename foo.mp3, the MD5 hash for this is 10ebb1120767e9de166e0f5905077cb1. Thus, storing foo.mp3 in ./10/eb/foo.mp3 would allow for less files per directory (assuming MD5 generates patterns with in Base36, this allows for 36^2 root directories with 36^2 subdirectories each and little chance of hash collision) Considering the directories themselves are not loaded, would the I/O costs of directory scanning still exist with direct uploading/downloading?

  • Script for creating directories and subdirectories on SBS 2008

    I have a small business server 2008 and have a directory named LAWFILES. I have a 6 digit file system (eg 106568) and I create a directory to store anything to do with the file (documents, outlook emails, PDFs, WAV files, ect.) I group 100 files in a 4 digit directory (eg 1065) for quicker access. My new years resolution is to organize these directories. I used to have a script the batch created directories and sub directories but it didn't work the last time I tried it (2 years ago). I would like to run a batch file that would ask for the 4 digit directory name (eg 1065) and then create that directory and 100 subdirectories (106500 - 106599) each of which contained subdirectories named "Documents," "Correspondence" & "Email-Voicemail" Can anyone suggest where I would go to find a scripting language that would be available to accomplish this?   • Hyper-V Manager - Host Access During a Catastrophe

    How can I ensure that I can always have Hyper-V Manager access to a Hyper-V server, even in the event that the Active Directory Server is down (in a domain-login environment)? Background: The one that came before me, set up the company's servers as virtual machines on top of a host running Hyper-V Server 6.1 (7601) Service Pack 1. For managing Hyper-V, he installed Window 7 onto a virtual machine (run on the same host) with Hyper-V Manager installed. When the (virtual) Active Directory server (run on this same host) is rebooted, during that reboot, I'm unable to RDP into the Windows 7 virtual machine, and I'm therefore unable to access Hyper-V Manager when the Active Directory server is down. I suspect I can't login because I can't authenticate with the Active Directory Server. I'm going to install Hyper-V Manger onto some addition manager's workstations, but how can I ensure they'll have access in a catastrophe where Active Directory authentication isn't possible?

Then I want to rename the index.html inside of foldername to replace index.html

    Mine is a 64 bit machine and I had installed "32" bit Ubuntu to try it out and hence installed many apps and developed many things and configured it for many things. Now it seems that my laptop needs more resources as my development needs so much. My question is :to free up install Lubuntu "64" bit in other partition which uses the same home directory and apps and my development rendering my laptop to be faster than before. Is this possible ?     I have many folders in my home directory that have names that begin with special characters such as _OLD_500GB_HD or !FolderIWantToSeeAtTheTop, but for some reason these folders are sorted according to their first alphanumeric character rather than the leading special character. So how can I force the folder to not ignore the special character, or how else can I make the sort view organize certain folders at the top or bottom of the sort? Thanks.
