• Qt 4.x: how to implement drag-and-drop onto the desktop or into a folder?

  Hi all, I've written a little file-transfer application written in C++ using Qt 4.x ... it logs into a server, shows the user a list of files available on the server, and lets the user upload or download files. This all works fine; you can even drag a file in from the desktop (or from an open folder), and when you drop the file icon into the server-files-list-view, the dropped file gets uploaded to the server. Now I have a request for the opposite action as well... my users would like to be able to drag a file out of the server-files-list-view and onto the desktop, or into an open folder window, and have that file get downloaded into that location. That seems like a reasonable request, but I don't know how to implement it. Is there a way for a Qt application to find out the directory corresponding to where "drop event" occurred, when the icon was dropped onto the desktop or into an open folder window? Ideally this would be a Qt-based platform-neutral mechanism, but if that doesn't exist, then platform-specific mechanisms for MacOS/X and Windows (XP or higher) would suffice. Any ideas?

• Sending wordpress title-value across PHP-pages

  I recently made this wordpress blog, where you can sign up a team for an event, when clicking a link under the event post. This link takes you to a sign-up form on another php-page. All I need now is to somehow send the specific event-post-title along to the sign-page, so that the following form-submit action will contain that title aswell. But since I'm not very good at php it seems like a mystery, altho I bet it's very simple! • WCF Callback Faulted - what happens to the session?

  Just trying to get my head around what can happen when things go wrong with WCF. I have an implementation of my service contract declared with an InstanceContextMode of PerSession... [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerSession, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Multiple)] The calls happen as follows: My client calls the server and calls GetServerUTC() to return the current UTC time of the server. This is a one way call and the server will call the client back when its ready (trivial in this instance to simply return the current time!) The server calls back to the client and for test purposes in the callback implementation on the client I throw an exception. This goes unhandled in the client (for test purposes) and the client crashes and closes down. On the server I handle the faulted event handler on the ICommunicationObject... obj.Faulted += new EventHandler(EventService_Faulted); Questions... Will this kill off the session for the current connection on the server. I presume I am free to do what I want in this method e.g. logging or something, but should I do anything specific here to terminate the session or will WCF handle this? From a best practise view point what should I do when the callback is faulted? Does it mean "something has happened in your client" and thats the end of that or is there something I a missing here? Additionally, are there any other faulted handlers I should be handling. Ive done a lot of reading on WCF and it seems sort of vague on what to do when something goes wrong. At present I am implementing a State Machine on my client which will manage the connection and determine if a user action can happen dependant on if a connection exists to the server - or is this overkill. Any tips would be really appreciated ;)

• Mode specific key bindings

  Hey, I have a minor mode that also comes with a global mode. The mode have some key bindings and I want the user to have the posibility to specify what bindings should work for each mode. (my-minor-mode-bindings-for-mode 'some-mode '(key1 key2 ...)) (my-minor-mode-bindings-for-mode 'some-other-mode '(key3 key4 ...)) So I need some kind of mode/buffer-local key map. Buffer local is a bit problematic since the user can change the major mode. I have tried some solutions of which neither works any good. Bind all possible keys always and when the user types the key, check if the key should be active in that mode. Execute action if true, otherwise fall back. Like the previous case only that no keys are bound. Instead I use a pre command hook and check if the key pressed should do anything. For each buffer update (whatever that means), run a function that first clears the key map and then updates it with the bindings for that particular mode. I have tried these approaches and I found problems with all of them. Do you know of any good way to solve this? Thanks!

• Deployed a Zend App on EC2 and its not working

  Hey Guys, I'm confused about the problem and not sure if I can provide enough details. I have a php app built on Zend framework which I've successfully deployed on other hosting companies. I am now trying to move to Amazon EC2 I moved all my code and set my domain to point to the IP address. So far so good. Now when I access my home page say www.example.com - everything looks good - The home page opens up which means the IndexController is being called and the index method is properly executed which pulls data from the database and displays it in the index.phtml page. So this lets me to believe that everything is working fine. But every link I click on the home page whether its a simple contact us link - or any other action that I directly try to call even through the URL results in 404 Not Found The requested URL /user/add was not found on this server. Apache/2.2.9 (Fedora) Server at www.example.com Port 80 The interesting thing is the home page opens up fine when I call www.example.com but when I give the entire path which is www.example.com/index/index - I get the same above error. I have checked the logs and there are no errors. Has anyone encountered something similar or have any idea if I'm missing a simple step or something like rewrite rule maybe. Its running on LAMP Any ideas Thanks

  Im familiar with asp.net web forms. I would now like to move on to writing web applications that use AJAX. I would like to get to the stage where I can create an app: that has "edit in place" (no page reload) where i can reorder images using drag and drop (also saves the order to DB) that has google like search suggestions while typing on the fly 1)So do I need to learn how to use AJAX.net and Jquery(my JS library of choice)? Can I make do using only AJAX.net or only Jquery? 2)As far a I know, Jquery will allow me to perform client side manipulations/actions and AJAX.net is the part that will allow me to connect some of my actions to the Server. EG. if I wanted to re-order elements using drag and drop, I would use Jquery, but in order to save the result of the re-order to the DB I would have to use AJAX.net correct? 2a)So In order to learn how to do the above Im thinking I should first learn Jquery so I know how to manipulate/ select elements, and then I can lean how to save these changes to the DB. 3)I searched the books titled "ASP.net AJAX in action" and ASP.net 3.5 AJAX, both of these books did not contain any references to "Jquery". Is this because they may be using a different JS library, or perhaps the book focuses on the AJAX user controls? I just found it confusing that 2 popular AJAX books dont make any reference to Jquery.   I have stored the videos and the thumbnail images of the videos in Documents folder. And I have given the path in plist. In plist I took an array and I added directories to the array.   Before I delve into the abyss of Microsoft documentation any deeper, I'd like to know if someone experienced with Change Data Capture and Change Tracking know if one or both of these can be used to replace the traditional ... "Audit trail table copy of the 'real table' (all of the fields of the original table, plus date/time, user ID, and DML action field) inserted into by Triggers" ... setup for a database table audit trail, where the trigger populates the audit trail table (which is all manual work). The MSDN overview documentation explains at a high level what Change Data Capture and Change Tracking are, but it isn't clear enough to me, and doesn't state outright, that these tools can be used to replace the traditional audit trail tables we've made so often. Can someone with any experience using Change Data Capture and Change Tracking save me a lot of time, or confirm that I am spending time looking at the right tool? The critical part of our audit trail is capturing all changes to a table's fields (on INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE), when it happened, and who did it. These changes are commonly provided to an end user chronologically via an audit trail report. Which is another question ... Change Data Capture or Change Tracking is the solution, I'd assume that this data can be queried just like data from a normal table? EDIT: I need a permanent audit trail, irregardless of time. I see that Change Data Capture has to do with the transaction logs, so this sounds finite to me.

But is passed to the controller when saving. The way it's set up is this grid will only have 1 horse id at a time (it will exist on a horse's property page.) The only time I've gotten anything to work is when I made it editable, but then that opens it up for the user to modify the id, which isn't a good idea. So is there some way I can set this value before submitting the data? it does exist as a variable on this page, if that helps any (and I've checked that it isn't null). Thanks

  Here is something that I find disturbing. I created a small form, and I'm using AJAX to validate for me. I have a javascript function authenticate() that works sometimes. <form method="post" action="" id="login_form" onsubmit="authenticate()";> // various inputs <input type="button" onclick="authenticate()" value="Log In"> </form> authenticate() works just fine when I click the button. However, if I press enter the form is submitted, and it fails. It also fails if I call onSubmit(). In my debugging, I alert the outgoing texts-- they are identical. However, the Prototype Ajax function calls it the onSuccess, but there is just no response from the server. (The server outputs either "Success" or "Failure"). Why the different behaviors for onClick() vs onSubmit()? The exact same function is called, but the results are different. Any help would be appreciated. --Dave

• Opacity CSS not working in IE8

  I'm using CSS to indicate the trigger text for a jQuery slide-down section: i.e. when you hover over the trigger text the cursor changes to a pointer and the opacity of the trigger text is reduced to indicate that the text has a click action. This works fine in Firefox and Chrome, but in IE8 the opacity doesn't change. I've tried a variety of CSS settings without any success. For example HTML: <h3 class="slidedownTrigger">This is the trigger text</h3> CSS: .slidedownTrigger {     cursor: pointer;     -ms-filter: “progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=75)”;     filter: alpha(opacity=75);     -khtml-opacity: 0.75;     -moz-opacity: 0.75;     opacity: 0.75; } What's stopping IE changing the opacity? Note: I've tried this on a variety of different elements, swapping round the order of the CSS statements, and just using the IE ones on their own. I've also tried using -ms-filter: "alpha(opacity=75)"; but with no success. I've run out of things to try to get opacity modification working in IE8. Any ideas?

• php remove button keeps retreiving posted information

  Hi every1! im quickly finding im quite the beginner to php, so please bare with me! I have a quick problem, I have a remove button for a shopping cart and the code works for it everytime except for the last product thats in the cart. If a person pushes the addtoCart button the URL is reloaded with ?buyproduct=$productNumber and when the remove button is pushed the product is removed. Right so everything is good, but when you try to remove the last item, it keeps reading the product thats in the URL. so the quantity remains 1 for the current $productNumber. i've tried adding the action in the form method tag so that the page reloads without the ?buyproduct=$productNumber, which does work however there are page numbers and sections that were also in the URL and these get reset also. i know the remove is working because once the ?buyproduct=$productNumber is gone from the URL (which can happen for example if they go to another section in the catalog) then the cart can be completely emptied. So if the server returns say 10 items, there should be 10 buttons and clicking on each button should call a different person. • CharField values disappearing after save (readonly field)

  I'm implementing simple "grade book" application where the teacher would be able to update the grades w/o being allowed to change the students' names (at least not on the update grade page). To do this I'm using one of the read-only tricks, the simplest one. The problem is that after the SUBMIT the view is re-displayed with 'blank' values for the students. I'd like the students' names to re-appear. Below is the simplest example that exhibits this problem. (This is poor DB design, I know, I've extracted just the relevant parts of the code to showcase the problem. • Problems with registering click event listener to a frame-element

  Hi everybody, I ran into a problem with adding an event listener. I wrote a Firefox plugin a while ago for my bachelor thesis. It was based on a different attacker model than you would normally expect. In this scenario the attacker was the service provider (like Facebook, Google,...), who reads all your private data stored on their site (via JS). My final solution was to temporally allow JS (while the page loads and after an user action occured). To observe the interaction I used event listener, which worked very well so far. But last week I noticed that my approach doesn't work with web sites which are using a frameset (I added the event listener to the body...). So I tried to add the listener to the frameset respectively to the frame. But the clicks are only noticed when you actually click on the frame... (eg resize the frame with your mouse) But I want to register clicks on the document loaded inside the frame. I already tried the .frameElement. Sadly it seems that Firefox doesn't like my (or, which is more likely, I'm too stuipd :) ) and claims there are no frames... Could anyone tell me how to add an event listener to the document inside a frame? • Unable to display wap version during "Extended permission"

  Hi, Im trying to redirect to facebook to request permission to publish stream. However, it only works when i did not specify any display parameters, it shows me a web version of it. I wanted a wap version instead. What should I do? If I were to change the "redirected url"'s display param to "wap" it will works. However, if I were to submit to https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/authorize?display=wap. • Embedded Vimeo Video Callbacks

  This post is kind of a follow up to a post I made earlier in regards to HTML5 video callbacks. In that thread, I was given a great piece of code that would allow for the browser to be informed of when the video stops playing and then fire off an action (with jQuery). This is the code I'm currently using: $('video.normal').bind('ended', function(){ $(this).fadeOut().queue(function(){ $(this).siblings('.post-video').fadeIn(); $(this).dequeue(); }); }); Which basically fades the video out when it's completed and brings a poster frame of the video (or similar image) back into view. Well, the scope of the project has changed and now the client is asking for true full screen video and different size videos to be delivered based on user connection speed, something that's a little over my head and a lot over budget. So I've been researching and a Vimeo Plus player seems like a great alternative for visitors using a desktop browser (HD embeds, true full screen, and more). Thing is, I need that above code to continue working in some capacity or another, so does the embedded Vimeo player offer a similar callback that I can utilize? Or am I SOL here? Thanks in advance!

However, some action on the main window triggers a modal window that has more buttons on it. I was expecting the same tall buttons but no such luck. How do I get the style to propagate into all windows in the application?
