• Rspec stubing view for anonymous controller

  I'm trying to test a method on the application controller that will be used as a before filter. To do this I have setup an anonymous controller in my test with the before filter applied to ensure that it functions correctly. The test currently looks like this: describe ApplicationController do controller do before_filter :authenticated def index end end describe "user authenticated" do let(:session_id){"session_id"} let(:user){OpenStruct.new(:email => "[email protected]", :name => "Colin Gemmell")} before do request.cookies[:session_id] = session_id UserSession.stub!(:find).with(session_id).and_return(user) get :index end it { should assign_to(:user){user} } end end And the application controller is like this: class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base protect_from_forgery def authenticated @user = nil end end My problem is when ever I run the test I'm getting the following error 1) ApplicationController user authenticated Failure/Error: get :index ActionView::MissingTemplate: Missing template stub_resources/index with {:handlers=>[:erb, :rjs, :builder, :rhtml, :rxml, :haml], :formats=>[:html], :locale=>[:en, :en]} in view paths "#<RSpec::Rails::ViewRendering::PathSetDelegatorResolver:0x984f310>" According to the docs the view is not rendered when running controller tests however this points to no stub existing for this action (which is understandable as the view doesn't exist) Anyone have a clue how to solve this problem or stub the view out. • Rails: Custom template for email "deliver_" method?

  I'm building an email system that stores my different emails in the database and calls the appropriate "deliver_" method via method_missing (since I can't explicitly declare methods since they're user-generated). My problem is that my rails app still tries to render the template for whatever the generated email is, though those templates don't exist. I want to force all emails to use the same template (views/test_email.html.haml), which will be setup to draw their formatting from my database records. How can I accomplish this? • Should I have different models and views for no user data than for some user data?

  I'm just starting to learn asp.net mvc and I'm not sure what the right thing to do is. I have a user and a user has a collection of (0 or more) reminders. I have a controller for the user which gets the reminders for the currently logged in user from a reminder service. It populates a model which holds some information about the user and the collection of reminders. My question is should I have 2 different views, one for when there are no reminders and one for when there are some reminders? Or should I have 1 view which checks the number of reminders and displays different things? Having one view seems wrong as then I end up with code in my view which says if (Model.Reminders.Count==0){//do something} else {do something else}, and having logic in the view feels wrong. But if I want to have 2 different views then I'd like to have some code like this in my controller: [Authorize] public ActionResult Index() { MembershipUser currentUser = m_membershipService.GetUser(); IList<Reminder> reminders = m_reminderRepository.GetReminders(currentUser); if (reminders.Count == 0) { var model = new EmptyReminderModel { Email = currentUser.Email, UserName = currentUser.UserName }; return View(model); } else { var model = new ReminderModel { Email = currentUser.Email, UserName = currentUser.UserName, Reminders = reminders }; return View(model); } but obviously this doesn't compile as the View can't take both different types. • Three Checkboxes, One must be selected to enable submit button, needs Jquery?

  I have between 1-three checkboxes and by default they are all disabled. In order for the submit button to be active ove checkbox minumum must be selected. Can someone help me with a jquery snippet to achieve this? My markup looks like this and the site used jquery 1.42. • Cucumber Error: Socket Error for Test Environment Host in REST API

  I posted this to the Cucumber group with no replies, which makes me wonder if this is actually a cucumber issue or not. I'm pretty new to cucumber, and there are a number of things I really don't quite understand about how the cucumber environment is set up and executed within the test environment. I have a REST API rails app I'm testing with cucumber, using the RestClient gem to generate a post to controller create action. When I run the feature with a hard-coded URL pointing to a running localhost server (my local dev server environment; replacing tickets_url with "http:// localhost/tickets" in the snippet below), my cucumber steps execute as expected. However, when the resource URL resolves to the cucumber host I'm declaring, I get a socket error exception. getaddrinfo: nodename nor servname provided, or not known (SocketError) From the steps file: When /^POS Adapter sends JSON data to the Tickets resource$/ do ticket = { :ticket = { ... } } host! "test.host" puts tickets_url RestClient.post tickets_url, ticket.to_json, :content_type = :json, :accepts = :json end (the "puts" statement prints "http://test.host/tickets") Using the following gems: cucumber-0.6.1 webrat-0.6.0 rest-client-1.2.0 I should also say I have a similar set up in another rails app, using test.host as my host, and it seems to work fine. I'd appreciate any insight on what I might be missing in my configuration or what this could be related to.

  Hey guys, I have a weird problem. I have an update system that refreshes data on a time interval. It works well in all browsers except internet explorer 8. The problem is that once it loads the data, it does not matter if the data updates further, it will not update the data visually until the internet history is cleared. I am not using any cookies server-side...Anyone ever encounter something like this?   I'm trying to write a short Wordpress JQuery for Wordpress comments that would allow users to toggle specific comments on and off. This is my first script, and I'm having a tough time. Once overtly simplified, the comments are formatted like so: <li id="li-comment-<?php comment_ID() ?>"> <div class="gravatar"><img src="#" /></div> <div class="comment_poster">Username</div> <div class="comment_options">Option buttons</div> <div class="comment_content">Comment</div> </li> In the "comment_options" DIV is a series of buttons that control the individual comments (reply, quote, edit, close, etc.). The close button is what I'm trying to write this script for. I need it to toggle the "gravtar" and "comment_content" DIVs, but leave the rest in place so that it still displays the user ID and controls. However, I can't seem to figure out how to contain the action. This is what I have so far: $(document).ready(function() { $("div.trigger").click(function() { $("div.gravatar").slideToggle(); $("div.comment_content").slideToggle(); }); }); The problem with this is that it closes are the .gravatar and .comment_content on the page, not just the ones found in the same list item. • Objective-C respondsToSelector question.

  From what I have learned so far: In Objective-C you can send any message to any object. If the object does implement the right method it will be executed otherwise nothing will happen. This is because before the message is send Objective-C will perform respondsToSelector. I hope I am right so far. I did a little program for testing where an action is invoked every time a slider is moved. Also for testing I set the sender to NSButton but in fact it is an NSSlider. Now I asked the object if it will respond to setAlternateTitle. While a NSButton will do and NSSlider will not. If I run the code and do respondsToSelector myself it will tell me the object will not respond to that selector. If I test something else like intValue, it will respond. So my code is fine so far. - (IBAction)sliderDidMove:(id)sender { NSButton *slider = sender; BOOL responds = [slider respondsToSelector:@selector(setAlternateTitle)]; if(responds == YES) { NSLog(@"YES"); } else { NSLog(@"NO"); } [slider setAlternateTitle:@"Hello World"]; } But when I actually send the setAlternateTitle message the program will crash and I am not exactly sure why. Shouldn't it do a respondsToSelector before sending the message?

  I was given an unusual request recently that I'm having the most difficult time addressing that involves capturing all display-characters when typed into a text box. The set up is as follows: I have a text box that has a maxlength of 10 characters. When the user attempts to type more than 10 characters, I need to notify the user that they're typing beyond the character count limit. The simplest solution would be to specify a maxlength of 11, test the length on every keyup, and truncate back down to 10 characters but this solution seems a bit kludgy. What I'd prefer to do is capture the character before keyup and, depending on whether or not it is a display-character, present the notification to the user and prevent the default action. A white-list would be challenging since we handle a lot of international data. I've played around with every combination of keydown, keypress, and keyup, reading event.keyCode, event.charCode, and event.which, but I can't find a single combination that works across all browsers.   I have a C# .NET 2.0 WinForms app. My app has a control that is a container for two child controls: a label, and some kind of edit control. I've tried handling MouseEnter and MouseLeave on the parent and both child controls, but this means the action begins and ends multiple times as the mouse moves across the control. In other words, I get this: Parent.OnMouseEnter (start doing something) Parent.OnMouseLeave (stop) Child.OnMouseEnter (start doing something) Child.OnMouseLeave (stop) Parent.OnMouseEnter (start doing something) Parent.OnMouseLeave (stop) The intermediate OnMouseLeave events cause some undesired effects as whatever I'm doing gets started and then stopped. I want to avoid that. I don't want to capture the mouse as the parent gets the mouse over, because the child controls need their mouse events, and I want menu and other shortcut keys to work. Is there a way to do this inside the .NET framework? Or do I need to use a Windows mouse hook?

Also my E-check, credit card processing, and subscriptions are all enabled.   I'm having trouble trying to modify the navigation bar in the subview portion of my application. self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemDone target:self action:@selector(add_Clicked:)] autorelease]; I have no issues modifying the navigation bar in any of my UIViewControllers classes. The simplified application class outline is as such: AppDelegate - UIViewControllerA (has a left and a right navigationBarButton) - Subview is displayed when a SegmentControl is selected. (Within the subview, I'm trying to modify the right NavigationBarButton that is displayed) [self.view addSubview:newControllerName.view]; Methods I have attempted: Trying to set self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem within my subview to a new UIBarButtonItem. Creating a pointer to UIViewControllerA within my AppDelegate. The UIViewControllerA contains a function setNavButton I wrote to set the rightBarButtonItem to a button. Then I am referencing the AppDelegate's reference to UIViewControllerA and attempting to call setNavButton. I included a NSLog call to see if that function is being called and it is executing but the NavigationBar isn't being modified. I'm trying to avoid having to push a UIViewController after the SegmentControl is clicked in UIViewControllerA so that I can simulate the SegmentControl as tabs. I'm not getting any errors during compile or run time. Anyone have any ideas?

  Hi, I have a combo box in my application. I also have a variable called "Status". I want the combo box to be enabled only when the value of the Status variable is 5 or 6. Otherwise, I should not be able to change the value in the combo box. It should have the previous value only.. I had written a click event to disable the combo box. But even though the combo box is disabled, I get the drop down list of the combo box, and If I select some othe value in the drop down,it changes..Only after that it gets disabled.. How to avoid this? I want the drop down function itself to be disabled. This is the code I have written. • zend_captcha always fails isValid()

  Hi, I've got an issue with Zend_Captcha always returning false when the page is submitted and the captcha's isValid() method is being called. It's driving my nuts because this as far as I am concerned should work.   I have created a widget that is an extension of SurfaceView (very similar to [VideoView][1]) and I am working on a feature to stretch the video fully across the device screen when certain action is taken. Now I am trying to force the refresh of this SurfaceView after setting the stretch flag so that the video gets stretched while it is playing, but I couldn't figure out how to force a refresh on SurfaceView. I tried android.view.View.invalidate(), android.view.View.refreshDrawableState() and calling android.view.View.measure(int, int) directly with different combinations but did not get any success. Any ideas?
