  • Jquery attach show event to select option

    Hi, I have a select form element with 5 options. If option 2 is selected I want to display another form input box (this has a style of display:none initially). How can I attach an event to option 2 so that whenever it is selected the input box is shown otherwise it is hidden. I have this currently but this does not handle is option 2 is already selected when the page loads $('#type').change(function(){ var typeSelected = $(this).val(); if (typeSelected == 2) { $('#extraInput').show(); } }); I know I could add another bit of code which checks what is selected on page load but wondered if there was a neater way of doing this. Also something that could handle the hiding of the input box if option 2 is not selected at the start as currently I have just hard-coded style="display:none" onto the input box but I would prefer this to be dynamic.     I have a website that will have millions of pages in a directory. I'd like to store those files on-disk in a bunch of subdirectories based on the first characters of the page name. For example http://mysite.com/hugedir/somefile.html would be stored in /var/www/html/hugedir/s/o/m/e/f/ile.html That is fairly trivial to do with a RewriteRule like so: RewriteRule ^hugedir/(.)(.)(.)(.)(.)(.*).html /hugedir/{$1}/{$2}/{$3}/{$4}/{$5}/$6.html RewriteRule ^hugedir/(.)(.)(.)(.)(.*).html /hugedir/{$1}/{$2}/{$3}/{$4}/{$5}.html RewriteRule ^hugedir/(.)(.)(.)(.*).html /hugedir/{$1}/{$2}/{$3}/{$4}.html RewriteRule ^hugedir/(.)(.)(.*).html /hugedir/{$1}/{$2}/{$3}.html RewriteRule ^hugedir/(.)(.*).html /hugedir/{$1}/{$2}.html RewriteRule ^hugedir/(.*).html /hugedir/{$1}.html However, the file name may contain hyphens or other non-standard characters and I'd really like to avoid having a directory named with a strange character.     i've used a DataList (dlparent) control for one of my page. Inside that datalist is another Datalist (dlchild) that is being populated by itemdatabound event of the parent datalist. i've used css with dlchild. Databinding is ok and the required output shows great with mozilla and IE but not in netscape, safari and google chrome. dlchild is not showing. only item in dlparent appears.     I'm working on dropdowns in IE6 (SELECT with OPTIONs as children). I'm experiencing the problem where, in IE6, dropdown menus are truncated to the width of the SELECT element. In other browsers, blur causes every OPTION to not be highlighted. Using JS, how can I de-highlight an option after the dropdown has lost focus.

  • Floating images with multiple sizes in CSS

    I'm wanting to be able to create a banner of floating images based on what are uploaded via users. The tool needs to have images of 50x50 and 100x100. At the moment, I just want to randomly display the images and tried to apply float:left. However, as you can see below - it leaves gaps. Is there an easy way to do this without programatically positioning the images?   • Default js included in Rails

    When creating a new Rails application, it is automatically supplied with several quite large js files. In the application layout, by default, all of them are loaded into the page: <%= javascript_include_tag :defaults %> I was wondering, isn't loading all those javascripts can make the site possibly mush slower? And if so, where can I change the definition of :defaults? Or should I just include the ones I need and remove the code line mentioned above? Thank you

There is already a different submit button on my current page, so I can't simply make the button a submit button. When you click the Update Cart button it just updates the cart page it's on, but when you click the Shop More button it links to Shop.aspx a different page, and the Checkout links to another page as well. I can't figure out how it is linking just from that code, anybody have any insights?

Originally I was just having it put the variable into a text box and then I was posting that text box. However I dont want to have 5 text boxes.   • Why can't I use relative URLs with IE7?

    Hello everyone. I've been Googling for a while and can't seem to find an answer to this question. My problem is as follows: For my jquery, I need my links to be relative rather than absolute. My PHP is set to return relative urls and everything is working fine, until I test it in IE7. For some reason, IE7 keeps changing my relative urls to abosulute, which breaks my js script. Is this normal? Is there a way to get around it?
