  • Is there a way I can overlay graphics on top of all windows using C#?

    I want to create a C# app which rests in the system tray. However, I would like this application to overlay certain graphic elements / drawing on top of the screen above all windows at certain times. So, for example, while my application is running, even though minimized to the tray, it will draw certain shapes on top of the screen regardless of what is there. Is this possible using C#? If not, is there any other language that would have this capability?

    Hi, using a c# asp.net page, building a SQL query string to run against an index server catalog: string SQL = "SELECT doctitle, vpath, Path, Write, Size, Rank "; SQL += "FROM \"" + strCatalog + "\"..SCOPE() "; SQL += "WHERE"; SQL += " CONTAINS(Contents, '" + strQP + "') "; SQL += "AND NOT CONTAINS(Path, '\"_vti_\"') "; SQL += "AND NOT CONTAINS(FileName, '\".ascx\" OR \".config\" OR \".css\"') "; SQL += "ORDER BY Rank DESC"; Seems to work fine, except it will return results in the _vti_ directories which I am trying to avoid. Edit: All but asked question, so to be technical: How can I search the index and have it not return files from the vti folders? Switching to use an ixsso query object is possible, but i'd rather avoid it for this particular instance.

    Hello, I need to change the color of certain attributes/tags. I am switching from Dreamweaver and making the skin has been really hard in TextMate. As you can see, I want to change the a and img tags along with all of their attributes. The closest I've come to find is entity.other.attribute-name which only works with id for some reason entity.other.attribute-name.id Bonus would be the scope selector for the value of an attribute, e.g. "Logo" alt in the above example.     Do I have to create an index on columns referenced in Joins? E.g. SELECT * FROM left_table INNER JOIN right_table ON left_table.foo = right_table.bar WHERE ... Should I create indexes on left_table(foo), right_table(bar), or both? I noticed different results when I used EXPLAIN (Postgresql) with and without indexes and switching around the order of the comparison (right_table.bar = left_table.foo) I know for sure that indexes are used for the left of the WHERE clause but I am wondering whether I need indexes for columns listed in ON clauses.

    I'm trying to use the method for naming a lua package after the filename mentioned here, however _REQUIREDNAME is never defined. For example I have these two files samplePackage.lua: print("_REQUIREDNAME: ", _REQUIREDNAME) return nil; packageTest.lua: require "samplePackage" And when I run packageTest.lua it outputs > _REQUIREDNAME: nil I also couldn't find any mention of _REQUIREDNAME in the Lua 5.1 Refrence manual, so was this removed from the language, or am I missing something?

  • What scripts should not be ported from bash to python?

    I decided to rewrite all our Bash scripts in Python (there are not so many of them) as my first Python project. The reason for it is that although being quite fluent in Bash I feel it's somewhat archaic language and since our system is in the first stages of its developments I think switching to Python now will be the right thing to do. Are there scripts that should always be written in Bash? For example, we have an init.d daemon script - is it OK to use Python for it? We run CentOS. Thanks.

    For the longest time I've been curious to code in Intermediate Language just as an academic endeavour and to gain a better understanding of what's "happening under the hood". Does anybody provide Visual Studio support for *IL in the form of: project templates, IntelliSense integration, and those kind of RAD features? Edits: I don't mean restricted to out of the box support. For example, I can download Visual Studio extensions to support Python, COBOL, etc. Want the same for *IL. There is a stand-alone Intermediate Assembler tool.
