I am doing iPhone development and how to make CGRect return double value? I found there was a macro "#define CGFLOAT_IS_DOUBLE", but how can I change it?
I am developing an iPhone application for jail broken phones and in this application I would like to fetch user's phone number.
I have gone through the entire stackoverflow.com and found some relevant answers but all of them are obsolete and doesn't work with iOS 4.0 anymore.
The most famous solution for this problem is
NSString *num = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] stringForKey:@"SBFormattedPhoneNumber"];
but as I mentioned this solution no more works with iOS 4.0
As my application is intended towards the jail broken phones and not intended the Apple app store so I am not worried about my app rejection, hence any private API will also work for me.
Also please let me know if we can fetch IMSI number from SIM using any private APIs of iPhone
Hi,
I have a linear layout in my main.xml which has a listview. Now I want to create a bottom bar below listview.
Bottombar has a background image and two buttons with their individual background images. I want to put these two buttons on common background image.
I have read that this can be achieved using FrameLayout. But since I am using LinearLayout as base layout in my main.xml, is there any way to this design using linearlayout ?
Twitter client (formerly Tweetie) allows you to define a bookmarklet in Safari that launches the app. I want to know which iPhone API allows you to register the protocol specifier (or whatever it's called) - in this case "tweetie:" - in order for this bookmarklet to work.
The instructions can be found here and the bookmarklet itself is below.
javascript:window.location='tweetie:'+window.location
Clicking the above bookmark is the same as typing in "tweetie:http://google.com" into the address bar. This is obviously supported on the OS/Browser level, much the same as tel: URIs. Am I correct in understanding that developers can add arbitrary URI protocol specifiers as a part of app installation?
Using visual source safe,
How to create a base build and on top of that two inherited new child builds of c# project.
Base Build - Base Project - Base source version. [Should be able to modify source file and it reflacts in child builds]
Child Build - First Project
Child Build - Second Project
I can able to modify individual source code of both child builds and also base build.
If i change base build any source file then it should reflact to child build also.
Is this possible with VSS? if yes how can i achieve it
If any other source control provide this kind of facility then let me know.
I have an existing Android project with the following structure:
- ProjectName
-- AndroidManifest.xml
-- local.properties
-- project.properties
-- assets
-- libs (containing all jars)
-- modules (containing all library projects my project depends on)
-- res
-- src
---- com/namespace/projectname (all my classes including main activity are here)
I haven't been using any specific build system to build my project other than the one provided by default with the Android Studio IDE (though the project was originally created with IntelliJ CE.
I would like to use Gradle with the android plugin and do some work on my build process.
I have tried several configurations in order to achieve this and have failed to complete a successful build every time.
What's the recommended approach in this scenario? should I change my project structure? or is it possible to configure gradle using the existing structure?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
for some reason my code causes my program to crash. does anyone know why or how to fix it?
NSLog(@"here");
CLLocation *location = [locationManager location];
[mapView removeAnnotations:mapView.annotations];
NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults];
CLLocationCoordinate2D workingCoordinate = [location coordinate];
NSLog(@" this is %@", workingCoordinate.latitude);
it makes it to the first NSLog, but somewhere between the first and second it crashes. My guess is that it has to do with the CLLocation *location line.
I'm writing code that will allow my iphone-app to have a "configuration page".
A grouped, scrolling, UITableView... with cells that contain the needed textFields, switches, sliders, etc.
It is an ENOURMOUS amount of code. Is there an easier way?
Is there a way I could create a simple text-file, contain all my desired design choices and have my (reusable) code build the TableView for me?
Or... can I just do the whole thing quicker/easier in Interface Builder instead of code?
I have yet another pesky warning I would like gone. Basically, I have an int declared like this: @property (nonatomic, assign) int *myInt; and set like this: myInt = 0;. It is also synthesized in the implementation file. I am getting a warning on the line where I set the int's value and it says "Incompatible intiger to pointer conversion assigning to 'int *' from 'int'." What should I do to fix this?
I am having MKAnnotationView and i have added UIButton to it, by addSubView method with IBAction assigned to it using addTarget method. But when i tabbed on that button IBAction doesn't called ....!
I am not getting, Why it is not working?
How can i add button to MKannotationView so that its IBAction called ???
Plz. help me.

Hi guys,
I have an object NetworkMember that has no attributes but is defined by its relationships Person, Network, Level and Role. In my app, I've found all the four relationships, but I want to make sure not to double-register my NetworkMember, thus I'd like to search for this NSManagedObject before instantiating it.
How should I write a query that queries for an NSManagedObject just consisting of relationships?
Cheers
Nik
Hey there,
I am planning to develop an iPhone application heavily relying on sqlite DB ,
from different links I have gone through this seems to be a great tool and has some really good support.
As my app is still in the planning process
I would like to ask if there are any Issues with SQLlite database ? from memory management to Queries and data sizes and multiple access etc;
Please share your experience using SQLite DB in iPhone and what problems did you face?
I just want to make a note of these exceptions so that I may plan my App well and do not have any issues raised in the middle of the development process.
Thanx for your contribution.
Hey
is there any way to send whats in a text view (im trying to make a suggestion box) to my email address?
example
user types in the box " I think you should add twitter support"
then that is sent in the background to my email address [email protected]
then a message is popped up on the screen saying "suggestion sent"
just an example of what i mean
Any ideas, tutorial links would be greatly appreciated guys
Thanks
Hey Guys,
does anybody know how i can access a custom cell within the - (void)tableView:commitEditingStyle:forRowAtIndexPath:. I need access to my Custom Cell Class to retrieve some parameters.
Thanks.
I'm logging gps points during a walk. Below it shows the function that the coordinates are saved each 5 seconds.
i Did several tests but i cannot get the right accuracy i want. (When testing the sky is clear also tests in google maps shows me that the gps signal is good).
here is the code:
-(void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated{
if (self.locationManager == nil){
self.locationManager = [[[CLLocationManager alloc] init] autorelease];
locationManager.delegate = self;
// only notify under 100 m accuracy
locationManager.distanceFilter = 100.0f;
locationManager.desiredAccuracy= kCLLocationAccuracyBest;
[locationManager startUpdatingLocation];
}
}
- start logging
[NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:5 target:self selector:@selector(getData) userInfo:nil repeats:YES];
</code>
<code>
-(void)getData{
int distance;
// re-use location.
if ([ [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%1.2f",previousLat] isEqualToString:@"0.00"]){
// if previous location is not available, do nothing
distance = 0;
}else{
CLLocation *loc1 = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:previousLat longitude:previousLong];
CLLocation *loc2 = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:latGlobal longitude:longGlobal];
distance = [loc1 getDistanceFrom: loc2];
}
// overwrite latGlobal with new variable
previousLat = latGlobal;
previousLong = longGlobal;
// store location and save data to database
// this part goes ok
}
- (void)locationManager:(CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation {
// track the time to get a new gps result (for gps indicator orb)
lastPointTimestamp = [newLocation.timestamp copy];
// test that the horizontal accuracy does not indicate an invalid measurement
if (newLocation.horizontalAccuracy < 0) return;
// test the age of the location measurement to determine if the measurement is cached
// don't rely on cached measurements
NSTimeInterval locationAge = -[newLocation.timestamp timeIntervalSinceNow];
if (locationAge > 5.0) return;
latGlobal = fabs(newLocation.coordinate.latitude);
longGlobal= fabs(newLocation.coordinate.longitude);
}
I have taken a screenshot of the plot results (the walk takes 30 minutes) and an example of what i'am trying to acomplish:

i really hope someone can put me in the right direction.
Hello guys,
I've been trying to blend two UIImage for about 2 days now and I've been getting some BAD_ACCESS errors. First of all, I have two images that have the same orientation, basically I'm using the CoreGraphics to do the blending.
One curious detail, everytime I modify the code, the first time I compile and run it on device, I get to do everything I want without any sort of trouble. Once I restart the application, I get error and the program shuts down.
Can anyone give me a light? I tried accessing the baseImage sizes dynamically, but it gives me bad access too.
Here's a snippet of how I'm doing the blending.
UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(CGSizeMake(320, 480));
CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0, 480);
CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0);
CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, [baseImage CGImage]);
CGContextSetBlendMode(context, kCGBlendModeOverlay);
CGContextDrawImage(context, rect, [tmpImage CGImage]);
[transformationView setImage:UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext()];
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();
I've begun setting up SVN repositories to store my code, and am wondering if a single VisualStudio solution can have projects from multiple repositories. I have a shared library with different helper functions, generic custom controls, etc, that are used by multiple projects, and hosted in its own repository. Then I have my project repository, which contains all of the program-specific code such as forms, etc. I know I could copy the shared library into the program's repository, then copy them back when I make changes, but I'd much rather keep them in different repositories so I can hit "Commit" and the general library commits to it's repository, and the program code commits to it. I'm currently using AnkhSVN, but if it's possible with other tools, I'll look into it.
Preemptive clarification for all the "just use one repository" answers: The shared library is hosted in an online repository, viewable by anyone, but the program code is proprietary and resides on our office servers, so they need different repositories.
How can I have an imagebutton stay in the 'pressed' state when it is clicked? Basically I just want the background to be the depressed background, but I can't figure out how to set it. At the moment, I've just copied the selected button background into my res folder, but when I set it as the background, it becomes blurry (since the original image is bigger than the button itself).

Hopefully this will be an easy one to answer.
I am working on a table that requires MTD data. One of our SQL guys told me to use
MONTH (@monthtodate)= 11
Where @monthtodate is set to GetDate() in the parameter list in SQL Server Management Studio. So in "theory", he says, it should select the month (11) and then get today and return all the requested data in between those two dates. But I'm thinking this isn't correct.
In looking at my data I'm starting to think that It's just returning data for the whole month of November instead of just MTD. I guess, technically, anything that has 0 won't be calculated. However that just means it's poorly written code correct?
In your opinions, would this be the better way to return MTD data:
production_date <= @today and Production_Date >= DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm, 0, @today), 0)
Thanks in advance everyone!
I'm in linker paradise now. I have a C library which only compiles in Visual C++ (it probably works in gcc) if:
I compile it as C++ code
Define __cplusplus which results in all the declarations being enclosed in extern "C" { }
So, by doing this I have a static library called, say, bsbs.lib
Now, I have a C++ project called Tester which would like to call function barbar in declared in bsbs.h. All goes fine, until I try to link to bsbs.lib where I get the all-too-familiar:
Tester.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _foofoo
And it always seems to be foofoo which cannot be resolved regardless of which function I call in Tester (barbar or anything else).
How would you write a universal app that uses classes introduced in iPhone OS 3.2, such as UIPopoverController and UISplitViewController? On Jeff LaMarche's blog about this, Ole provides a method for instantiating these objects; you would instantiate a UIPopoverController like so: [NSClassFromString(@"UIPopoverController") alloc].
This is fine for instantiating these classes in code but what about protocols and their methods? My iPad app uses a UISplitViewController and has a class that needs to conform to the UISplitViewControllerDelegate and UIPopoverControllerDelegate. How would you declare this? And how would you work with a method such as the following?
- (void)splitViewController:(UISplitViewController *)svc
willHideViewController:(UIViewController *)aViewController
withBarButtonItem:(UIBarButtonItem *)barButtonItem
forPopoverController:(UIPopoverController *)pc
where the method call requires UISplitViewController to be passed in?
I am trying to write a simple application that gets updated. For this I need a simple function that can download a file and show the current progress in a ProgressDialog. I know how to do the ProgressDialog, but I'm not sure how to display the current progress and how to download the file in the first place.
