  hi, i am a developer and i developed the web application(asp.net). It is working in my local server fine when i take new domain and upload the site in to that domain i am getting this error hi, After completion of my project. I placed in online the default page is coming but when i click on any link button it is giving this error can you help me. m3connect.in is url of my site and error is Server Application Unavailable The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable. • Programmatic DNS

  I'm a long time developer but not very experienced with DNS. Here's my problem: Our app launches servers on Amazon EC2 for clients. One client wants to use custom DNS's for every server launched instead of the normal long public DNS provided by AWS: for example server-5.demo.ourclient.com, server-6.demo.ourclient.com. What's the easiest/cleanest/best way to solve this challenge from inside our application that launches the servers and knows the Amazon public DNS? We can probably get control of demo.ourclient.com as well.... Are there nice hosted solutions with API's? Would we need to manage a DNS server for *.demo.ourclient.com? Thanks! Chad

• Collection of MVC CSS files available?

  Just curious - are there various customized Site.css files (and accompanying images) that work with the default ASP.NET MVC 2 templates? I'm a stereotypical developer who "doesn't do pretty" so I'd like to find a design that is good enough for me to use until I later have a designer come back and fix my design. Are there collections/libraries of various designs out there that work with the default templates? I did find this but the 2 popular ones I tried seem like they're for MVC 1, plus they in no way used the default tags with the MVC 2 templates.

• Visual Studio 2008 Add-in: App.config and web services.

  I have created a visual studio add-in for VS2008. The add-in uses as web service to access data required by the developer. However, currently the only way to get the service to work is to add the service bindings to the machine.config of the pc. I know this is a bad idea and its causing errors left and right in my other applications. I have tried using app.config along side my add-in but the add-in doesn't seem to use it at all. My service call is being made from a dll referenced by the add-in would that make a difference?

• Find out if assembly is signed with Authenticode

  I use an assembly of a 3rd party vendor. In an older version this assembly used authenticode. This caused the assembly loading to last quiet long. The developer of the vendor told me that the new version is not signed with authenticode. How can I check if this is true. On my development machine the assembly loading was quiet fast. Only on client machines it took quiet a while. Is it possible to check this using a network sniffer? Regards

  Hi there, I'm new in android development and I am trying out the WebView example in the official android site. http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/views/hello-webview.html But I do everything they say...which is pretty simple: I create the project, edit the layout file, then i add the code, etc. No problems building...but when I launch the app in the simulator I just got a black screen. It is like if the Layout is empty...like if the WebView is not created. does anybody know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advanced

• How can I have HTML tab expansion in ST2 w/ Emmet inside Handlebars templates(emberjs)?

  Okay, so I'm using Sublime Text 2 with Emmet. But "Tab" expansion of HTML snippets doesn't work inside a script because of the scope. Example: In HTML, I can type "h1" and then hit tab, and it will generate "" When using Ember.js, and more specifically Handlebars, it doesn't work. <script type="text/x-handlebars"> h1 </script> Pressing tab after that "h1" doesn't expand it because it's inside a script; Emmet turns this off. I can press Ctrl+E, which is the "expand anywhere" hotkey, and that works just fine. However, that is uncomfortable and prone to missing and hitting things like Ctrl+S or Ctrl+D which have undesired effects. So, how can I change this? • Entity Framework Vote of No Confidence - relevant in .NET 4?

  Hi, I'm deciding on an ORM for a big project and was determined to go for ADO.NET Entity Framework, specifically its new version that ships with .NET 4. During my search for information on EF I stumbled upon ADO .NET Entity Framework Vote of No Confidence which I'm not sure how to take. The Vote of No Confidence was written sometime in 2008 to convince Microsoft to listen to specific criticism for EF v1. It's not clear whether the claims made in the Vote of No Confidence are still valid (in .NET 4) and if they're serious enough to use other solutions. NHibernate is a mature alternative, but I don't know what problems it brings. I'm generally more inclined towards a Ms solution, mainly because I can count on integration with VS and on their developer support. I would appreciate examples of how the problems mentioned in the Vote of No Confidence affect in real world projects. More importantly, are the claims made there still relevant in EF for .NET 4? • Sql Server 2008 Install

  I already have Visual Studio 2008 installed. When installing developer Sql Server 2008, do I need to check the Business Intelligence Development Studio option? I'm guessing not. I assume if I already have VS 2008, the install will just add the relevant Sql Server related project types into VS 2008. EDIT: I marked the question answered before I did the install - I've installed Sql Server before and I thought this was what happened, but on doing this install, leaving the BI studio option unchecked does NOT install the SQL Server projects in Visual Studio. I had to go back and install it, so the answer is... Check it! I was overthinking the install - it's smart enough not to install VS twice.

  I am trying to understand an issue where event-listener registration on plugins doesn't work in Opera unless i delay them. In particular, this doesn't work: document.onload = function() { plugin.addEventListener("foo", function() { alert('onFoo'); }, false); } while delaying the addEventListener() call somewhat through e.g. an alert() does: document.onload = function() { alert('onload()'); plugin.addEventListener("foo", function() { alert('onFoo'); }, false); } It seems that plugins are only loaded after document.onload. As a non-web-developer, am i missing something simple here? Or is this a known Opera problem with a common work-around?

• Why Do Browsers Leak Memory?

  A colleague and I were speaking about browsers (using browser control in a project), and it appears as plain as day that all browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE, Opera) display the same characteristic or side-effect from their usage and that being 'Leaking Memory'. Can someone explain why that is the case? Surely as with any form of code, there should be proper garbage collection? PS. I've read about some defensive patterns on why this can happen from a developer's perspective. I am aware of an article Crockford wrote on IE; but why is the problem symptomatic of every browser? • accessing $_SESSION when using file_get_contents in PHP

  I am basic - intermediate developer using php and am a little stumped as to what I have found. I need some help in understanding how to alleviate this issue: I have a page called send.email.php which sends an email - pretty simple stuff - I pass an order id, it creates job request and sends it out. This works fine when used in the context I developed it (Use javascript to make an AJAX call to the URL and pass the order_id as a query parameter) I am now trying to reuse the exact same page in another application however I am calling it using php file_get_contents($base_url.'admin/send.email.php?order_id='.$order_id). When I call the page this way, the $_SESSION array is empty isempty() = 1. Is this because I am initiating a new session using file_get_contents and the values I stored in the $_SESSION on login are not available to me within there? Any help? Thanks

• Perl graph garbage collection usage

  Hi, I have built a tiny application in Perl that displays a graph over time. It graphs garbage collection usage over time. I use gnuplot to display the actual graph. This works fine if the time period is short, like a few hours. However, as the time increases (say a few days), the graph becomes difficult to read as the information gets crammed. Note that there is a tool called gcviewer which performs a similar function, it works by allowing you to choose the percentage of the graph. http://www.tagtraum.com/gcviewer.html Ideally I would like to take this further by adding the ability to "move" within the graph. I am not a developer but am good at scripting, so if there is some module in Perl which would provide this functionality it would be excellent!   I am a web developer for a Django-based site for a student organization, and I have the opportunity to make the website temporarily absurd for a day of general campus-wide debauchery and chaos (long story, doesn't matter.) What are your best ideas for web development practical jokes (that you could never use in the real world)? For example, one idea we had was to use a client-side script to convert each character to its upside down equivalent in Unicode, si?? ??i? ?ui????os. I'm not necessarily looking for Django-specific solutions. I imagine most of these things would happen on the front-end. I am also quite aware that usability will suffer considerably--the point is to be fun for a day, and there will always be a link to the normal version of the site. Also, everything must be relatively cosmetic and easily reversible--I'm happy to swap out static CSS/JS/HTML/templates/images, and even temporarily add a django view, but no messing with the data level!

  I don't have an iPad yet to find this out; have had only a brief opportunity to look at one at the Apple store. Could someone please describe what, if anything, happens to the mouseOver event of an image-map area when the image-map|area has had user-select disabled with "webkit-user-select: none" in the CSS, as described here in section 5: http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/technotes/tn2010/tn2262/index.html When a finger tip is placed on the image-map area and held there (i.e.not a tap) is the mouseOver eventhandler invoked under those circumstances? Or does nothing happen other than the image-map area doesn't change color because it's now unselectable? In my brief experience with the iPad at the Apple store, when user-select is not disabled, and the image-map area has a mouseOver eventhandler, a tap fires the mouseOver event rather than the click event. • Why is 50.22.53.71 hitting my localhost node.js in an attempt to find a php setup

  I just created a new app using angular-fullstack yeoman generator, edited it a bit to my liking, and ran it with grunt on my localhost, and immediately upon starting up I get this flood of requests to paths that I haven't even defined. Is this a hacking attempt? And if so, how does the hacker (human or bot) immediately know where my server is and when it came online? Note that I haven't made anything online, it's just a localhost setup and I'm merely connected to the internet. (Although my router does allow 80 port incoming.) Whois shows that the IP address belongs to a SoftLayer Technologies. Never heard of it.   I usually develop content management solutions in php, I work with designers that create the front end (html & css) and I usually develop the backend (php & mysql) of said cms. I know that the cost of the website may vary depending of the complexity of the html or the backend, but taking as reference a very basic website, what percentage of the cost should go to design and what percentage should go to development. I want to make clear that I as the developer i'm in charge of all the effects and animations of the websites using some of the javascript frameworks, not the designer. • Umbraco or ASP.NET MVC

  I'm about to create a site that will act as public front site of company that sells furniture, but after user log in, he'll see much more options. Internal news, files to download, customized pricings, newsletters, etc. - stuff for wholesale clients. I want to make it quickly and maintain/extend it easily. I'm asp.net developer and while I could write it in python, php, whatever else (I know these too), I still prefer asp.net. I was thinking about umbraco, since it gives a real productivity boost and that I familiar with it ( and extending it). I've had a short romance with ASP.NET MVC, so I know what it's all about, but I would still spend some time learning it (but what a fun!). Of course, there's also webforms, but that's my last choice here. Last but not least to mention is the SEO. The question is, have anyone of you had similiar dilemma and what was your final choice?

• How to set up dual quadro cards on RHEL 5.5?

  I have a RHEL 5 workstation with 2 nvidia Quadro FX4500 cards, with one display attached to each card. After doing a clean install of RHEL 5.5, the second display doesnt work (it worked ok in RHEL 5.2). Neither separate X screens nor Xinerama are working. The kernel version is 2.6.18-194.el5 I've tried nvidia drivers 185.18.36 (the ones that i was using on 5.2) and the latest 260.19.36 and neither works. • How to set my .apk file to run on different screen resolution in android?

  I am using a "WVGA800" for my app. I try to run it on different resolution screens. It it is not perfectly scratching in that resolution . I read and implement issues form this link. http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html But still not result. Please let me know if any one hase a perfect solution. Main issue are that I am fixing hight & width of Image, textsize etc. When these are displayed to screen of "WVGA800". But when I test them on "HVGA", "QVGA" then problem arise. I want to avoid the "if else" conditions by getting the screen resolution at Runtime. If any one hase any solution for this...let me know. Thanks in advance. I am also wondring when there will be new devices with new screen resolutions?

• Building an Issue Tracker Plugin for TortoiseSVN

  I've read a lot about IBugTraqProvider interface and implementing an issue tracker into the commit dialog of TortoiseSVN. IBugTraqProvider is written here. Is there a more simpler way not to do it, building the plug-in and installing it on TortoiseSVN. The Document is not that clear that a developer can create its own plugin. I'm working with SalesForce as the Issue Tracker, and retrieved the WSDL file to integrate with the Working Items. Now I need to know how to connect it to TortoiseSVN. Please any suggestions?
