  • Mouse in screen(1) on the Linux console?

    How can I use the mouse in GNU screen on the Linux console? I would expect this to have to go via gpm, but that doesn't seem to happen by default, even if the curses library does link to libgpm. (This may be related to screen's termcap heritage...)

  • Internet Explorer - selected language is changing to English when opening a new window

    When opening a new window in IE8 or IE9 (doesn't matter if using a link or window.open), my selected keyboard language is changing to English (doesn't matter what was the previous selection, tried it with a few different languages). This doesn't happen for me in Chrome or Firefox (all the browsers are installed in their English version), and I tested it in Windows 7 and Windows 2008R2. Is there any way to avoid that? If there isn't - supposing the new window is within my website or application, is there a way to change it back?

  • Trouble restoring an iPod touch backup

    I ran into some problems with my iPod, and am trying to restore a backup following this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 I tried following the section under "Restoring your iPhone or iPod touch". When it gets to step 9, it simply doesn't show up - the restore happens, the iPod restarts, but I DO NOT get an option to set it up as a new device, or restore a backup. A backup does exist (checked the location). Any ideas on how I can restore the backup?

  • how do i install intermediate certificate

    I have installed private key (pem encoded) and public key certificate (pem encoded) on amazon load balancer however when i check the ssl with site test tool (http://www.networking4all.com/en/support/tools/site+check/), i get the following error Error while checking the SSL Certificate!! Unable to get the local issuer of the certificate. The issuer of a locally looked up certificate could not be found. Normally this indicates that not all intermediate certificates are installed on the server. i converted crt file to pem using these command from this tutorial openssl x509 -in input.crt -out input.der -outform DER openssl x509 -in input.der -inform DER -out output.pem -outform PEM during setting up of amazon load balancer only option i left out was certificate chain (pem encoded) however this was optional. could this be cause of my issue? and if so i how do i create certificate chain? for the last question i have tried googling however i'm getting more confused than before. please help many thanks in advance. UPDATE @all thanks for the helpful advice. if you make request to verisign they will give you a certificate chain however this chain includes public crt, intermediate crt and root crt. make sure to remove the public crt from your certificate chain (which is the top most certificate) before adding it to your certification chain box of your amazon load balancer. if you are making https request from an android app then above instruction may not work for older android os such as 2.1 and 2.2. to make it work on older android os [https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&id=AR657&actp=LIST&viewlocale=en_US]. on this link click on "retail ssl" tab and then click on "secure site" "CA Bundle for Apache Server". copy and past these intermediate certs into certificate chain box. just incase if you have not found it here is the direct link [https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&id=AR1409] if you are using geo trust certificates then solution is much the same for android devices however you need to copy and past their intermediate certs for android.   • Which is the correct way to config the $TERM and tmux?

    I am using gnome-terminal with bash. When I set xterm-256color for $TERM and in .tmux.conf most of the things work but when I try to change the colorscheme of vim the things mess up. When I set screen-256color for $TERM and in .tmux.conf the colors work ok but most of the keys go mad. I've tried some of the suggestions from the last link but when I ssh the arrows crash even on the command line.. So how to configure tmux?

    I have a D-Link home router and my isp is Time warner. When I try to login to any site it does not let me. The website does not keep me logged in when I navigate the pages. I have to keep loging in for every web page I see. When I connect my cable modem directly to my computer I am able to stay logged in. Any ideas here?

    I am watching a Flash stream. I can watch the same stream in two different players (set up by someone else), but I don't like any of them. Is there a way I can find/get/extract the direct link to the flash stream that those two players are playing? So that I can watch it using a different player? Edit: The player is streaming an RTMP stream, not an FLV video file.

  • Alienware m15x (older model) BSOD investigation

    A frined of mine asked me to help him with an Alienware m15x laptop that had a little service history. It was bought in june 2008, serviced in january 2009 for a random fps drop problem, Alienware returned it saying nothing was wrong. The laptop still had hiccups, but after juggling a few drivers and settings, the fps drops weren't as noticeable. Eventually it died in Sept. 2009. It would not boot up locking itself on a white/gray screen. (i think it was overheating .. clocking in 100 degrees Celsius). So back to Alienware it went. They replaced the GPU and all was fine. Up until these blue screens started showing up. One other thing that was updated was the HDD and a Windows 7 reinstall, in August. From then on it seems to have started its BSOD. Could this be the culprit? Why? 0_o The original Windows was Vista but it was upgraded with a digital download/purchase of Windows 7 Home Premium and activated after installing windows. No errors on the old HDD, just on the latest installation. LE:Due note that now the old HDD is used to see if issues re-occur. So please, I am in need of someone who can interpret these windows dump files: Minidump I may have come to some conflicting conclusions. So if someone can clarify each dump/date and the probable cause/error it had; and a final conclusion or solution, we would be very grateful.   • Any hardware/software routers that support Full Cone NAT?

    i'm trying to get Teredo to function on my machine. Most routers, it seems, refuse to forward packets from any host other than the one i specifically connected to first. Teredo requires full Cone NAT in order to function. Does any router, hardware or software, allow full cone NAT? Is this an oversight by the designers of Teredo that nobody, in practice, can use it? i've tried m0n0wall pfsense D-Link Linksys SMC

  • cut text from each line in a txt file

    i have a text file where each line looks like this: <img border=0 width=555 height=555 src=http://websitelinkimagelinkhere> each line is like that for like 1500 lines, i want to sort of 'grep' (i dont think that will work because it returns the whole line) each line for 'http://websiteimagelinkhere' output file should have newlines or tabs after each image link, like the original file. or if someone only knows a way to do this with each element being in a cell of the same column that would be okay too.

  • Windows 7 accounts on a 2008r2 DC keep getting locked out randomly

    As the title states, this happens randomly to Windows 7 accounts on our Windows 2008R2 domain controller. We just had this start happening after changing from 123together hosted exchange to Rackspace hosted exchange. Also around this time our passwords on the DC started expiring, but not the exact day, and everyone has different days they need to change it before. It has only affected 10 out of 30 accounts, and I see no link between them. What are some fixes I should run or things to look for?

    I've installed a version of a very handy application (Nokia Battery Monitor 1.1) and was quite pleased to see a v1.2 out recently. The problem is that I cant seem to update this app on my phone via the ovi app; the 'download' link is disabled. Also tried the 'sw update' app, but it reports that all applications are up-to-date. Any idea how do this without installing/reinstalling the app? The phone model is Nokia 5800

    When ever I run an Exchange 2010 SP1 Discovery Search I get the following error: "Search failed as the results link to the target mailbox '[email protected]' couldn't be generated." I have checked to ensure the discovery mailbox is enabled I created a new Discovery mailbox. I get the same error with both Mailboxes. The user account I am using to run the search is a member of the "Discovery Management" security group. I get the same error whether I use the Shell or the ECP to run the search

  • Trac changesets not displaying

    I have setup Trac to integrate with our VisualSVN server. It all seems to work fine, except when I am viewing changesets, it only shows the files that have changed, not the actual diff of what has changed in the file. In addition, when I am viewing a particular file in Trac, the 'diff' link is not visible, which I have seen in other installations. I assume it is probably a configuration issue, or maybe the way the data is being entered in the first place. Any suggestions?
