It is working fine on Chrome, Firefox and Safari. I feel that the issue is because of TinyMCE script inclusion because on commenting the lines that include the tiny_mce.js and the support_page.js, the popup renders with no issues. I am also using the latest TinyMCE release. Please let me know why this is happening and what could be the resolution.

  • What is good practice in .NET system architecture design concerning multiple models and aggregates

    I'm designing a larger enterprise architecture and I'm in a doubt about how to separate the models and design those. There are several points I'd like suggestions for: - models to define - way to define models Currently my idea is to define: Core (domain) model Repositories to get data to that domain model from a database or other store Business logic model that would contain business logic, validation logic and more specific versions of forms of data retrieval methods View models prepared for specifically formated data output that would be parsed by views of different kind (web, silverlight, etc). For the first model I'm puzzled at what to use and how to define the mode. Should this model entities contain collections and in what form? IList, IEnumerable or IQueryable collections? - I'm thinking of immutable collections which IEnumerable is, but I'd like to avoid huge data collections and to offer my Business logic layer access with LINQ expressions so that query trees get executed at Data level and retrieve only really required data for situations like the one when I'm retrieving a very specific subset of elements amongst thousands or hundreds of thousands. What if I have an item with several thousands of bids? I can't just make an IEnumerable collection of those on the model and then retrieve an item list in some Repository method or even Business model method. Should it be IQueryable so that I actually pass my queries to Repository all the way from the Business logic model layer? Should I just avoid collections in my domain model? Should I void only some collections? Should I separate Domain model and BusinessLogic model or integrate those? Data would be dealt trough repositories which would use Domain model classes. Should repositories be used directly using only classes from domain model like data containers? This is an example of what I had in mind: So, my Domain objects would look like (e.g.) public class Item { public string ItemName { get; set; } public int Price { get; set; } public bool Available { get; set; } private IList<Bid> _bids; public IQueryable<Bid> Bids { get { return _bids.AsQueryable(); } private set { _bids = value; } } public AddNewBid(Bid newBid) { _bids.Add(new Bid {.... } } Where Bid would be defined as a normal class. Repositories would be defined as data retrieval factories and used to get data into another (Business logic) model which would again be used to get data to ViewModels which would then be rendered by different consumers. I would define IQueryable interfaces for all aggregating collections to get flexibility and minimize data retrieved from real data store. Or should I make Domain Model "anemic" with pure data store entities and all collections define for business logic model? One of the most important questions is, where to have IQueryable typed collections? - All the way from Repositories to Business model or not at all and expose only solid IList and IEnumerable from Repositories and deal with more specific queries inside Business model, but have more finer grained methods for data retrieval within Repositories. So, what do you think? Have any suggestions?

  • HttpWebRequest: How to find a postal code at Canada Post through a WebRequest with x-www-form-enclos

    I'm currently writing some tests so that I may improve my skills with the Internet interaction through Windows Forms. One of those tests is to find a postal code which should be returned by Canada Post website. My default URL setting is set to: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/fpc/personal/findByCity?execution=e4s1 The required form fields are: streetNumber, streetName, city, province The contentType is "application/x-www-form-enclosed" EDIT: Please consider the value "application/x-www-form-encoded" instead of point 3 value as the contentType. (Thanks EricLaw-MSFT!) The result I get is not the result expected. I get the HTML source code of the page where I could manually enter the information to find the postal code, but not the HTML source code with the found postal code. Any idea of what I'm doing wrong? Shall I consider going the XML way? Is it first of all possible to search on Canada Post anonymously?   • What strategy do you use for package naming in Java projects and why?

    I thought about this awhile ago and it recently resurfaced as my shop is doing its first real Java web app. As an intro, I see two main package naming strategies. (To be clear, I'm not referring to the whole 'domain.company.project' part of this, I'm talking about the package convention beneath that.) Anyway, the package naming conventions that I see are as follows: Functional: Naming your packages according to their function architecturally rather than their identity according to the business domain. Another term for this might be naming according to 'layer'. So, you'd have a *.ui package and a *.domain package and a *.orm package. Your packages are horizontal slices rather than vertical. This is much more common than logical naming. In fact, I don't believe I've ever seen or heard of a project that does this. This of course makes me leery (sort of like thinking that you've come up with a solution to an NP problem) as I'm not terribly smart and I assume everyone must have great reasons for doing it the way they do. On the other hand, I'm not opposed to people just missing the elephant in the room and I've never heard a an actual argument for doing package naming this way. It just seems to be the de facto standard. Logical: Naming your packages according to their business domain identity and putting every class that has to do with that vertical slice of functionality into that package. I have never seen or heard of this, as I mentioned before, but it makes a ton of sense to me. I tend to approach systems vertically rather than horizontally. I want to go in and develop the Order Processing system, not the data access layer. Obviously, there's a good chance that I'll touch the data access layer in the development of that system, but the point is that I don't think of it that way. What this means, of course, is that when I receive a change order or want to implement some new feature, it'd be nice to not have to go fishing around in a bunch of packages in order to find all the related classes. Instead, I just look in the X package because what I'm doing has to do with X. From a development standpoint, I see it as a major win to have your packages document your business domain rather than your architecture. I feel like the domain is almost always the part of the system that's harder to grok where as the system's architecture, especially at this point, is almost becoming mundane in its implementation. The fact that I can come to a system with this type of naming convention and instantly from the naming of the packages know that it deals with orders, customers, enterprises, products, etc. seems pretty darn handy. It seems like this would allow you to take much better advantage of Java's access modifiers. This allows you to much more cleanly define interfaces into subsystems rather than into layers of the system. So if you have an orders subsystem that you want to be transparently persistent, you could in theory just never let anything else know that it's persistent by not having to create public interfaces to its persistence classes in the dao layer and instead packaging the dao class in with only the classes it deals with. Obviously, if you wanted to expose this functionality, you could provide an interface for it or make it public. It just seems like you lose a lot of this by having a vertical slice of your system's features split across multiple packages. I suppose one disadvantage that I can see is that it does make ripping out layers a little bit more difficult. Instead of just deleting or renaming a package and then dropping a new one in place with an alternate technology, you have to go in and change all of the classes in all of the packages. However, I don't see this is a big deal. It may be from a lack of experience, but I have to imagine that the amount of times you swap out technologies pales in comparison to the amount of times you go in and edit vertical feature slices within your system. So I guess the question then would go out to you, how do you name your packages and why? Please understand that I don't necessarily think that I've stumbled onto the golden goose or something here. I'm pretty new to all this with mostly academic experience. However, I can't spot the holes in my reasoning so I'm hoping you all can so that I can move on. Thanks in advance!

  • How can I anchor a textbox in wpf ?

    I have a window with tabs. On one of the tabs, I have a layout like below. (In fact it is more complicated, I have 4 text boxes in a row, and I have more rows.) How can I make the 3rd textbox have the width of the label + the width of the text box above, that is, to have them properly aligned ? The problem is that WPF widens the 3rd textbox, when I type text into it. Using hardcoded numbers for the sizes defeats the whole purpose of WPF. I could do that way 10 times faster in Windows Forms than in WPF. Looking inside page source code I see that the following div is outside forms tag: <div class="ui-widget-overlay" style="z-index: 1001; width: 1280px; height: 65089px;" jQuery1267345392312="20"/> If I set modal to false, the error doesn't happen. I think the problem is that the div working as modal is outside the form. What do you think?

    I'm trying to get connected to another ASA via Cisco VPN Client. I am behind an ASA 5505 myself and I am tryihng to VPN to a 5510. I get the message: Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding. I can connect to the other ASA if I use a normal cheap Linksys.     When using sfDoctrineGuard plugin, it automatically generates the backend administration functionality where I can edit users of the system and assign them permissions. So I visit http://.../backend_dev.php/sf_guard_user/:id/edit where I am presented with the user's information including the available permissions to select. By default the permissions are shown as a multiple select box, HTML follows: <select name="sf_guard_user[permissions_list][]" multiple="multiple" id="sf_guard_user_permissions_list"> <option value="1">Permission1</option> <option value="2">Permission2</option> <option value="3">Permission3</option> <option value="4">Permission4</option> </select> What I would prefer is a list of checkboxes. So I searched around and found that if I add the option "expanded" set to true to the following code: 'permissions_list' => new sfWidgetFormDoctrineChoice(array('multiple' => true, 'model' => 'sfGuardPermission', 'expanded' => true,)), The code is part of this file: lib/form/doctrine/sfDoctrineGuardPlugin/base/BasesfGuardUserForm.class.php. Is this the correct way to go about this work? I also need to integrate my sfGuardUserProfile model into the edit user page (same as above), I read somwhere that editing the generator.yml file for the sfGuardUser plugin module and simply adding the field names from the sfGuardUserProfile table would make it work, but sadly it doesn't.     I have a subclass of JLabel that forms a component of my GUI. I have implemented the ability to drag and drop the component from one container to another, but without any visual effects. I want to have this JLabel follow the cursor during the drag of the item from one container to another. I figured that I could just create a glass pane and draw it on there. However, even after I add the component to the glass pane, set the component visible, and set the glass pane visible, and set the glass pane as opaque, I still so not see the component. I know the component works because I can add it to the content pane and have it show up.   • Preventing multiple repeat selection of synchronized Controls ?

    The working code sample here synchronizes (single) selection in a TreeView, ListView, and ComboBox via the use of lambda expressions in a dictionary where the Key in the dictionary is a Control, and the Value of each Key is an Action<int. Where I am stuck is that I am getting multiple repetitions of execution of the code that sets the selection in the various controls in a way that's unexpected : it's not recursing : there's no StackOverFlow error happening; but, I would like to figure out why the current strategy for preventing multiple selection of the same controls is not working. Perhaps the real problem here is distinguishing between a selection update triggered by the end-user and a selection update triggered by the code that synchronizes the other controls ? Note: I've been experimenting with using Delegates, and forms of Delegates like Action<T>, to insert executable code in Dictionaries : I "learn best" by posing programming "challenges" to myself, and implementing them, as well as studying, at the same time, the "golden words" of luminaries like Skeet, McDonald, Liberty, Troelsen, Sells, Richter.   • Why does Process Explorer cause highly targeted failure of some applications / basic UI functions in a high-power EC2 Windows instance?

    Update: I have determined that Process Explorer itself - the program I am using to debug a performance issue - seems to be the cause of the issue. See note, with updated question, at end. I am running a high-power (cc2.8xlarge) Amazon AWS EC2 Windows instance off of a boot EBS volume, provisioned at 2500 PIOPS, which was created from a snapshot of a previous boot volume. My purpose with the instance is to use it as a development workstation with many developer tools installed, such as Visual Studio, a local XAMPP stack, etc. I have upwards of 40 programs installed on the machine. The usability of the instance as a development machine often works quite well. The RDP lag is adequately small. I have used it for hours on end without problems for some of my most intense development tasks. As a result, I have just purchased a reserved instance, and I opted to rebuild my development machine starting from scratch with a Windows Server 2012 AMI. After having installed all of my desired/required applications for development over this past week, again the machine seems to often work well and I have worked for up to an hour at a time without problems doing heavy development work. However, I continue to run into catastrophic OS usability issues that may prevent me from being able to rely on this machine as a development machine. I would like to track down the source of the problem, if there is an easily identifiable source. (Update: I have tracked down the source to be Process Explorer, the very program I was using to debug the problem. See update at end.) The issues are as follows. (These are some primary examples) Some applications, after a period of adequate responsiveness, suddenly begin to respond very, very slowly to basic user interface actions such as clicking on menus and pressing Ctrl-Tab to switch between open documents. Two examples are UltraEdit and PhpEd. It typically takes ~2 seconds for a menu to appear, and ~4 seconds to switch between open documents. Additionally, insertion point motion in the editor is lagged by upwards of ~2 seconds. Process Explorer, which I am using to help debug the problem, seems to run acceptably for a couple of minutes, but on multiple occasions Process Explorer itself hangs completely. It hangs at the same time as the problems noted above. When it hangs, it is 100% unresponsive. Clicking on its taskbar icon neither causes it to come to the top or go behind, and its viewable area is filled with nothing but a region partially containing pure white and partially containing incomplete windows widgets that are unreadable, and that never change. Waiting 10 minutes does not clear the problem. Attempting to force-quit Process Explorer by right-clicking on its taskbar icon and choosing "Close Window" takes about 5 full minutes to exit (Process Explorer itself can't be used to exit Process Explorer, and it is registered as a Task Manager substitute). Other programs work just fine during this time. For example, Chrome tabs flip very quickly back and forth, menus pop open instantly, web pages load quickly, and typing in forms/web applications inside the browser works promptly. Another example of an application that works crisply is Filemaker - its menus open instantly, and switching views in this application occurs promptly. Other applications also work without issue. Also, switching between applications occurs promptly as well. It is only a handful of applications that exhibit the problem, with some primary examples given above. At first I thought that EBS IOPS might be a problem. Therefore, I ran Performance Monitor, and watched the "Disk Transfers/sec" monitor in real time. At no point did this measure come anywhere close to hitting the 2500 PIOPS provisioned for the EBS volume. The RAM was also well under the limit (~10 GB used out of 60 GB). I did notice that one CPU core (out of 32 logical cores) was fully thrashing at 100% (i.e., ~3.1%) during the problematic periods. This seems to indicate that a single CPU core is handling the menus / flipping between open documents (for some applications only) / managing the Process Explorer user interface, and that this single core was hosed for some reason during the problematic periods. Also note that I have a desktop workstation (Windows 7) that I also use as a development machine, via a remote connection, with a nearly identical set of programs installed, and this desktop workstation does not exhibit any of the problems I've discussed above. I have been using it heavily for well over a year now. Any suggestions regarding either the source of the problem, or steps I might take to investigate the source of the problem, would be appreciated. Thanks. Note: After extensive testing & investigation, I have noticed that when I quit Process Explorer, the problem vanishes and the system performance returns to normal, and then reappears quickly when I run Process Explorer again (note: again, the performance problems only appear for a subset of applications - other applications work perfectly fine during the same period). My question is therefore (thankfully) more specific: Why does Process Explorer cause highly targeted failure of some applications (including itself) and basic UI functions, in a high-power EC2 Windows instance?

    I have an issue where the JavaScript source file is loading in popup for IE6, Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera. But the same source file is not loading up in IE8. As a result of this the HTML is not being replaced in the Popup and I am getting an error in IE8 popup saying tinyMCE is not defined I have referred to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2949234/formatting-this-javascript-line and solved issue on all browsers except IE8.   • IE8 Crashes Strangely on JavaScript Popup

    Hi, I am facing a strange issue after the popup is created onclick. The popup opens up but hangs immediately on IE8 (works fine on all the other browsers including IE6). But on adding the alertbox as show in the JavaScript code, the popup works fine. I am using **https** and not **http** and i feel popup is not able to load the JS file because of SSL.     I'm getting NullReferenceExeceptions at seemly random times in my application and can't track down what could be causing the error. I'll do my best to describe the scenario and setup. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated! C# .net 3.5 Forms Application, but I use the WebFormRouting library built by Phil Haack (http://haacked.com/archive/2008/03/11/using-routing-with-webforms.aspx) to leverage the Routing libraries of .net (usually used in conjunction with MVC) - intead of using url rewriting for my urls. My database has 60 tables. All Normalized. It's just a massive application. (SQL server 2008) All queries are built with Linq to SQL in code (no SP's). Each time a new instance of my data context is created. I use only one data context with all relationships defined in 4 relationship diagrams in SQL Server. the data context gets created a lot. I let the closing of the data context be handled automatically. I've heard arguments both sides about whether you should leave to be closed automatically or do it yourself.     I am trying to draw a TextBox on the extended glass frame of my form. I won't describe this technique, it's well-known. Since black is considered to be the 0-alpha color, anything black disappears. There are apparently ways of countering this problem: drawing complex GDI+ shapes are not affected by this alpha-ness.     Hi, I am working on a project where I am in charge of html, css and javascript. I found this maven-minify-plugin that seemed to just what I wanted. Everything is good when I deploy using maven on the server, but when I am using Eclipse (STS, www.springsource.com/products/sts) to run the project on localhost no css nor js file is generated by the plugin. Does anyone have experience with this Maven plugin, so they can tell me if it should be possible or not run on localhost? Does anyone have knowledge of another plugin I can use to (combine and) minify javascript and css files when running on localhost in Eclipse and also when deploying using Maven?   • Temporary "Backup" of SharePoint Content During Feature and Solution Deployment

    I need to decide on a method for storing a subset of the content in a SharePoint site, so that when I delete and recreate certain lists as part of a feature activation, I can re-insert all of this content back where it should belong. I have an idea myself, but I don't know if it's the only method and more importantly, the right method. My client has me creating a SharePoint system for them to communicate with their clients. The business process has maybe 5 stages in it (maybe it's more, I don't even know because they don't tell me everything), and the current system I've written over the past months is maybe 2 stages through. This meets our deadline of completing those systems by Monday next week... but at that point my client is planning on making the site live from that point. In effect, their work with their clients will be running parallel with my work for them. As I complete my own work on a separate test server, I'll push each following stage of the process onto the live server. Scheduled downtimes during non-business times (like a weekend) will be available for me to perform these pushes. Keeping pace so that my development is faster than the actual business process is my own problem and off-topic... so let's get back to the problem I stated at the start of this post. In this system, we have sets of features which will create lists for their associated content types and field types when activated, and delete these lists when the feature is deactivated. Most updates don't need to deactivate and reactivate these features, such as workflow changes, custom actions, custom forms, and similar ilk. But there are some parts which do require this. On my test server, it's okay for me to obliterate lists, but once the site is live and there's real correspondence data, it's absolutely unacceptable to do this. So when I need to implement a new change in functionality, I need to be able to store the currently present data in several lists, deactivate the feature, reactivate the feature, and restore all of this data. Perhaps I have hoist myself by my own petard with the feature system I implemented. Unfortunately, the necessity to later on make several of these "project sites" meant I had to do a lot of my code with the concept of "Can be deployed repeatedly" in mind. My current plan is to run through lists and libraries which will be affected by the particular feature that is to be reset. Files and all of their versions will be saved in a directory on the server. Then, a set of text files will be used to store all of the important field values for the items. This includes a lot of cross-list reference lookups that will need to be maintained, but that's simple enough. Then, I deactivate the feature, deploy the new solution, and reactivate the feature. We upload all of the files in the order specified by their versions and update them with the stored fields for those versions, so that we retain the version structure. As each one is first uploaded, the new ID is picked out, and all relevant lookups in the rest of the files are updated (in some manner that I make sure I don't re-update it later with an incorrect value, of course). After that, we run through all the rest of the items in the order most conducive to keeping the relational data correct. This roughly summarizes what my current plan is. To my advantage, there are no long running workflows in the system that will be affected by this, so there's nothing I will have to worry about making sure nothing is "still running" when I do this stuff. I don't really know all the cons of this approach... I can imagine they're quite hefty. But I'm unsure what other choices I even have, and my searches haven't turned up anything.   • Windows NT Service shutdown issues

    I have developed middleware that provides RPC functionality to multiple client applications on multiple platforms within our organization. The middleware is written in C# and runs as a Windows NT Service. It handles things like file access to network shares, database access, etc. The middleware is hosted on two high end systems running Windows Server 2008 R2. When one of our server administrators goes to reboot the machine, primarily to do Windows Updates, there are serious problems with how the system behaves in regards to my NT Service. My service is designed to immediately stop listening for new connections, immediately start refusing new requests on existing connections, and otherwise shut down as rapidly as possible in the case of an OnStop or OnShutdown request from the SCM. Still, to maintain system integrity, operations that are currently in progress are allowed to continue for a reasonable time. Usually the server shuts down inside of 30 seconds (when the service is manually stopped for example). However, when the system is instructed to restart, my service immediately loses access to network drives and UNC paths, causing data integrity problems for any open files and partial writes to those locations. My service does list Workstation (and thus SMB Redirector) as a dependency, so I would think that my service would need to be stopped prior to Workstation/Redirector being stopped if Windows were honoring those dependencies. Basically, my application is forced to crash and burn, failing remote procedure calls and eventually being forced to terminate by the operating system after a timeout period has elapsed (seems to be on the order of 20-30 seconds). Unlike a Windows application, my Windows NT Service doesn't seem to have any power to stop a system shutdown in progress, delay the system shutdown, or even just the opportunity to save out any pending network share disk writes before being forcibly disconnected and shutdown. How is an NT Service developer supposed to have any kind of application integrity in this environment? Why is it that Forms Applications get all of the opportunity to finish their business prior to shutdown, while services seem to get no such benefits? I have tried: Calling SetProcessShutdownParameters via p/invoke to try to notify my application of the shutdown sooner to avoid Redirector shutting down before I do. Calling ServiceBase.RequestAdditionalTime with a value less than or equal to the two minute limit. Tweaking the WaitToKillServiceTimeout Everything I can think of to make my service shutdown faster. But in the end, I still get ~30 seconds of problematic time in which my service doesn't even seem to have been notified of an OnShutdown event yet, but requests are failing due to redirector no longer servicing my network share requests. How is this issue meant to be resolved? What can I do to delay or stop the shutdown, or at least be allowed to shut down my active tasks without Redirector services disappearing out from under me? I can understand what Microsoft is trying to do to prevent services from dragging their feet and showing shutdowns, but that seems like a great goal for Windows client operating systems, not for servers. I don't want my servers to shutdown fast, I want operational integrity and graceful shutdowns. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. PS in regards to writing my own middleware, this is for a telephony application with sub-second "soft-realtime" response time requirements. It does make sense, and it's not a point I'm looking to debate. :)

  • C# Accessing controls from an outside class without "public"

    I know this has been asked before but I believe my situation is a bit different -- or I don't understand the answers given. I have spent about 4 hours working on this solidly and finally realized, I just don't know what to do. I have 2 Forms (Form1, Settings) and a class I created called Themes. I have get/set properties that currently work but are all within Form1 and I would like to move as much code related to themeing as I can OUTSIDE of Form1 and into Themes.cs. Changing Theme: To change the theme, the user opens up the Settings form and selects a theme from the dropdown menu and presses the 'Set' button -- this all works, but now I want to move it into my own class and I can't get the code to compile. Here is example code that works before moving -- note that this is only 2 different controls I want to modify but there are about 30 total.
