    I've got this XML: <BillingLog> <BillingItem> <date-and-time>2003-11-04</date-and-time> <application-name>Billing Service</application-name> <severity>Warning</severity> <process-id>123</process-id> <description>Timed out on a connection</description> <detail>Timed out after three retries.</detail> </BillingItem> <BillingItem> <date-and-time>2010-05-15</date-and-time> <application-name>Callback Service</application-name> <severity>Error</severity> <process-id>456</process-id> <description>Unable to process callback</description> <detail>Reconciliation timed out after two retries.</detail> </BillingItem> </BillingLog> That I want to project using LINQ-to-XML into a collection of BillingItem objects contained in a single BillingLog object. public class BillingLog { public IEnumerable<BillingItem> items { get; set; } } public class BillingItem { public string Date { get; set; } public string ApplicationName { get; set; } public string Severity { get; set; } public int ProcessId { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public string Detail { get; set;} } This is the LINQ query that I'm using to project the XML (which is contained in the string variable source). I have this dictionary-esque string: myvalue=0;othervalue=1;anothervalue=0; How do I split this so that the keys end up in one array and the values end up in another array?

    Can someone please put me out of my misery with this? I'm trying to figure out why a derived operator== never gets called in a loop. To simplify the example, here's my Base and Derived class: class Base { // ... snipped bool operator==( const Base& other ) const { return name_ == other.name_; } }; class Derived : public Base { // ... snipped bool operator==( const Derived& other ) const { return ( static_cast<const Base&>( *this ) == static_cast<const Base&>( other ) ? age_ == other.age_ : false ); }; Now when I instantiate and compare like this ... Derived p1("Sarah", 42); Derived p2("Sarah", 42); bool z = ( p1 == p2 ); ... all is fine. Here the operator== from Derived gets called, but when I loop over a list, comparing items in a list of pointers to Base objects ... list<Base*> coll; coll.push_back( new Base("fred") ); coll.push_back( new Derived("sarah", 42) ); // ... snipped // Get two items from the list. Base& obj1 = **itr; Base& obj2 = **itr2; cout << obj1.asString() << " " << ( ( obj1 == obj2 ) ? "==" : "!=" ) << " " << obj2.asString() << endl; Here asString() (which is virtual and not shown here for brevity) works fine, but obj1 == obj2 always calls the Base operator== even if the two objects are Derived. I know I'm going to kick myself when I find out what's wrong, but if someone could let me down gently it would be much appreciated.

    Background Our email vendor supports rss feeds for dynamic content, which we use successfully for "daily headline" type emails. This is a great help in automating many different emails that we don't have staffing to create daily. One of our staff as requested that his daily email (which has recent headlines from his Movable Type blog) only have headlines from entries posted on that day. My Question Since we use Movable Type for his blog, is there a way to generate a rss feed that only contains items posted on the current day?

How would I go about finding only unique items for instance: is_unique(FruitName):- In the example clauses the answer would be Pear. I'm also trying to add error handling to my code, so in this instance if an input is: is_unique(pineapple) How could I catch this and output an error message? Thanks, AS

And even better, when I turn on the connection again (by pressing F8), I test again the type of connection, Toast messages are shown but this time Log messages don't work. Problems happend when I press F8. Anyway, I think I miss something with broadcast receivers, it's not totally clear. Please help me.

  • How can I reload a datagrid in flash action script, after an xml file has loaded

    Hi Everyone, Does anyone know how to change the rowcount of a datagrid in flash after it has been created on the stage. I am loading an xml file externally that contains the number of rows the datagrid should have, but the problem is that becuase this file is not loaded at runtime, it just picks the default 3 items. Maybe I have to reload the datagrid on the stage, or loop until it is defined. Does anyone have experince of this. Regards, Chris

    My problem is that I need to add a lot of items to a ListBox in WPF. In WinForms you'd just use the BeginUpdate(); method, add everything, and finally use the EndUpdate(); method. So, how would I stop the drawing in a WPF listbox until every item is added and then draw everything in one go?
