    I have Entity Framework entities Events which have an EntityCollection of RSVP. I want to convert the EntityCollection of RSVP to a generic List< of a POCO class RSVP. So I want EntityCollection - List. What would be the best way to go about achieving this?   • I can't get datepicker to work

    Hi, I need a field that displays the datepicker. I followed the example given by the JQuery UI documentation and haven't managed to get it to work. My html where I have my text field is: <div class="editor-field"> <input type = "text" name = "DatePublished" id = "Published" /> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("DatePublished" ,"*") %> </div> This HTML is in a partial view, lets call it pv.ascx, and it is called in the main page as a modal box: <div id = "ModalBox"> <% Html.RenderAction("pv", "Example"); %> </div> The thing is, that I try to call the datepicker creation anytime I enter the main page, and I do it in my javascript file app.js: $().ready(function() { var place = window.location.pathname; var placesplit = place.split("/"); //Depending on the location we are on, we execute different subroutines $('#Published').datepicker(); }); But nothing happens when I focus on the text field. I want to use this date picker multiple times on my form. I know the wrong way to do this would be to copy all the code and just adjust each name accordingly. How can I put those controls, styles, and code into a single entity?

  • Website --> Add Reference also creates files with pdb extensions

    Hello, Q1 Any assemblies stored in Bin directory will automatically be referenced by web application. We can add assembly reference via Website -- Add Reference or simply by copying dll into Bin folder. But I noticed that when we add reference via Website -- Add Reference, that additional files with .pdb extension are placed inside Bin. If these files are also needed, then why does reference still work even if we only place referenced dll into Bin, but not pdb files Q2 It appears that if you add a new item to web project, this class will automatically be added to project list and we can reference it from all pages in this project. So are all files added to project list automatically being referenced ? thanx EDIT: On your second question, you are adding a public class to a namespace so will be visible to other classes in that project and in that namespace. I don’t know much about assemblies, but I’d assume the reason why item( class ) added to the project is visible to other classes in that project is for the simple fact that in web project all classes get compiled into single assembly and for the fact that public classes contained in the same assembly are always visible to each other? much appreciated

  • Can't connect to HTTPS using X509 client certificate

    Hi - I'm new to cryptography and I'm a bit stuck: I'm trying to connect (from my development environment) to a web service using HTTPS. The web service requires a client certificate - which I think I've installed correctly. They have supplied me with a .PFX file. In Windows 7, I double clicked the file to install it into my Current User - Personal certificate store. I then exported a X509 Base-64 encoded .cer file from the certificate entry in the store. It didn't have a private key associate with it. Then, in my app, I'm attempting to connect to the service like this: var certificate = X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile("xyz.cer")); var serviceUrl = "https://xyz"; var request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create(serviceUrl); request.ClientCertificates.Add(certificate); request.Method = WebRequestMethods.Http.Post; request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; I get a 502 Connection failed when I connect. Is there anything you can see wrong with this method? Our production environment seems to work with a similar configuration, but it's running Windows Server 2003. Thanks!

    I want to execute a query like this var result = from entry in table where entry.something == null select entry; and get an IS NULL generated. Edited: After the first two answers i feel the need to clarify that I'm using Entity Framework and not Linq to SQL. The object.Equals() method does not seem to work in EF. Edit no.2: The above query works as intended. It correctly generates IS NULL. My production code however was var value = null; var result = from entry in table where entry.something == value select entry; and the generated SQL was something = @p; @p = NULL. It seems that EF correctly translates the constant expression but if a variable is involved it treats it just like a normal comparison. Makes sense actually. I'll close this question

  • Can't select View Content dropdown when adding view in MVC using Interfaces

    I have my Model defined externally in two projects - a Core project and an Interface project. I am opening the Add View dialogue from my controller, and selecting Create a strongly typed view. In the drop down list, I can select the concrete types like MyProject.Model.Core.OrderDetails, but the interface types like MyProject.Model.Interface.IOrderDetails aren't there. I can type the interface class in manually and everything works, but then the View content menu that lets you select the Create, Delete, List, etc scaffolding is disabled. Is there some problem with using interfaces in MVC? Or is it something else I'm missing?

The connection string works cause it is used to read the database to get the profile information, I just removed it due to it containing password/login info for the db. player is the class of properties that contains player information and ds is the dataset, but I would like to update the database itself online...   • Chart Control Inside SSRS ReportViewer is Viewable From Localhost But Not Internet

    A project I own was just moved from an older server to a new one, and in the process of moving the web folder, re-deploying the SSRS reports, restoring the database, configuring IIS, etc... I have lost the ability to view the Microsoft Chart Controls that are embedded in the SSRS reports, that are then displayed by a Microsoft.ReportViewer. I could view them both locally and remotely (via the internet) on the old server. I can view them if I preview the SSRS report in Visual Studio. The report displays fine, only missing all the embedded charts. I can still view them locally through the web browser, just not from the internet. What am I missing? I tried giving permissions to the ChartImageHandler temp storage folder, but it didn't work. I'm getting the Javascript error: Error: ClientReport380ec8ca0c294a809e9986c1bef9db1c is undefined

    In the intent of preventing XSS attacks, I am updating a page in which we have a textbox that accepts HTML, stores it in a database and retrieves and renders it at a later time. My understanding is that I can sanitize the HTML using AntiXSS.GetSafeHtmlFragment() method. As long as I do this before storing the HTML in the database, am I covered? Do I need to do anything when the HTML is outputted on a web page? Also, it appears that the white list is kind of a black box. Is there a way to update this based on our requirements?

  • Problems using FluentNHibernate + SQLite with .NET4?

    I have a WPF application running with VS2010 .Net3.5 using Nhibernate with FluentNHibernate + SQLite, and all works fine. Now I want to change to use .Net4, but this has turned into a more painful experience then I expected.. When setting up the connection a FluentConfigurationException is thrown from FluentConfiguration.BuildConfiguration saying: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more details. The inner exception gives us more information: Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver, NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4. It has an InnerException again: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Which again has an InnerException: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Now - to me it sounds like it doesn't find System.Data.SQLite.dll, but I can't understand this. Everywhere this is referenced I have "Copy Local", and I have verified that it is in every build folder for projects using SQLite. I have also copied it manually to every Debug folder of the solution - without luck. Notes: This is exactly the same code that worked just fine before I upgraded to .Net4. I did see some x64 x86 mismatch problems earlier, but I have switched to use x86 as the target platform and for all referenced dlls. I have verified that all files in the Debug-folder are x86. I have tried the precompiled Fluent dlls, I have tried compiling myself, and I have compiled my own version of Fluent using .Net4. I see that there are also others that have seen this problem, but I haven't really seen any solution yet. After @devio's answer I tried adding a reference to the SQLite dll. This didn't change anything, but I hope I made it right though..     I am trying to create a UserControl that is a composite control for entering Dates. It involves 2 drop down controls (one for month and one for day) and a text box for year. It also has a CustomValidation control that I would like the user of the UserControl to be able to set the ClientValidationFunction property and have it triggered whenever the value in any of the 3 date part controls changes. To hook up each of the 3 controls to the validation control, I use teh AJAX ValidatorHookupControlID method.
