• How to undo a changeset using tf.exe rollback

  Technorati Tags: Team Foundation Server 2010,Team Foundation Utilities,TFS2010   Oh no! Did you just check in a changeset in to TFS and realized that you need to roll back the changeset because the changes were suppose to go in a different branch? Or did you just accidently merge a wrong changeset in your release branch? There are several ways to undo the damage, Manual: Yes, we all just hate this word but for the record you could manually rollback the changes. Get Specific version on the branch and chose the changeset prior to the one you checked in. After that check out all the files in the changeset and check them in. During the check in you will receive a conflict. At this point choose ‘Keep local changes’ in the conflict resolution window and check in the files. Automated: Yes, we just love it! TFS comes with a very powerful command line utility ‘tf.exe’ that gives you the ability to rollback the effects of one or more changesets to one or more version-controlled items. This command does not remove the changesets from an item's version history. Instead, this command creates in your workspace a set of pending changes that negate the effects of the changesets that you specify. Syntax tf rollback /toversion:VersionSpec ItemSpec [/recursive] [/lock:none|checkin|checkout] [/version:versionspec] [/keepmergehistory] [/login:username,[password]] [/noprompt] tf rollback /changeset:ChangesetFrom~ChangesetTo [ItemSpec] [/recursive] [/lock:none|checkin|checkout] [/version:VersionSpec] [/keepmergehistory] [/noprompt] [/login:username,[password]]   I’ll explain this with an example. Your workspace is at the location C:\myWorkspace You want to rollback changeset # 145621 C:\Workspace\MyBranch>tf.exe rollback /changeset:145621 /recursive How do i rollback/undo a series of changesets? You can also rollback a range of changesets by using the following C:\Workspace\MyBranch>tf.exe rollback /changeset:145601~145621 /recursive This will check out the files in the version control and you should be able to see them in the pending changes. Go on check them in to undo the specific changeset that you just rolled back. Do you completely want to get rid of the changeset from all future merges between the two branches? /KeepMergeHistory: This option has an effect only if one or more of the changesets that you are rolling back include a branch or merge change. Specify this option if you want future merges between the same source and the same target to exclude the changes that you are rolling back. Errors “If you get the message ‘Unable to determine the workspace.’ You may be able to correct this by running ‘tf worksapces /collection:TeamProjectCollectionUrl’” you are in the wrong directory. Make sure that you run the ‘tf rollback’ command from the directory of your workspace.   Status Exit Code Description 0 The operation rolled back all items successfully. 1 The operation rolled back at least one item successfully but could not roll back one or more items. 100 The operation could not roll back any items.   To use the command you must have the Read, Check Out, and Check In permissions set to Allow. • Comparing Dates in Oracle Business Rule Decision Tables

  I have been working with decision tables for some time but have never had a scenario where I need to compare dates. The use case was to check if a persons membership had expired. I didn't think much of it till I started to develop it. The first trap I feel into was trying to create ranges and bucket sets. The other trap I fell into was not converting the date field to a complete date. This may seem obvious to most people but my Google searches came up with nothing so I thought I would create a quick post. I assume everyone knows how to create a decision table so I'm not going to go through those steps. The prerequisite for this post is to have a decision table with a payload that has a date field. This filed must have the date in the following format YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss. Create a new condition in your decision table Right-click on the condition to edit it and select the expression builder In the expression builder, select the Functions tab. Expand the CurrentDate file and select date, and click Insert Into Expression button. In the Expression Builder you need to create an expression that will return true or false, add the operation <= after the CurrentDate.date In my scenario my date field is memberExpire, Navigate to your date field and expand, select toGregorianCalendar(). Your expression will look something like this, click OK to get back to the decision table Now its just a matter of checking if the value is true or false. Simple when you know how :-)

• F# Objects &ndash; Integrating with the other .Net Languages &ndash; Part 1

  In the next few blog posts I am going to explore objects in F#. Up to now, my dabbling in F# has really been a few liners and while I haven’t reached the point where F# is my language of preference – I am already seeing the benefits of the language when solving certain types of programming problems. For me I believe that the F# language will be used in a silo like architecture and that the real benefit of having F# under your belt is so that you can solve problems that F# lends itself towards and then interact with other .Net languages in doing the rest. When I was still very new to the F# language I did the following post covering how to get F# & C# to talk to each other. Today I am going to use a similar approach to demonstrate the structure of F# objects when inter-operating with other languages. Lets start with an empty F# class … type Person() = class end   Very simple, and all we really have done is declared an object that has nothing in it. We could if we wanted to make an object that takes a constructor with parameters… the code for this would look something like this… type Person =     {         Firstname : string         Lastname : string     }   What’s interesting about this syntax is when you try and interop with this object from another .Net language like C# - you would see the following…   Not only has a constructor been created that accepts two parameters, but Firstname and Lastname are also exposed on the object. Now it’s important to keep in mind that value holders in F# are immutable by default, so you would not be able to change the value of Firstname after the construction of the object – in C# terms it has been set to readonly. One could however explicitly state that the value holders were mutable, which would then allow you to change the values after the actual creation of the object. type Person = { mutable Firstname : string mutable Lastname : string }   Something that bugged me for a while was what if I wanted to have an F# object that requires values in its constructor, but does not expose them as part of the object. After bashing my head for a few moments I came up with the following syntax – which achieves this result. type Person(Firstname : string, Lastname : string) = member v.Fullname = Firstname + " " + Lastname What I haven’t figured out yet is what is the difference between the () & {} brackets when declaring an object.

  When Netcat integrated into OpenSolaris it was already clear that there will be couple of enhancements needed. The biggest set of the changes made after Solaris 11 Express was released brings various I/O enhancements to netcat shipped with Solaris 11. Also, since Solaris 11, the netcat package is installed by default in all distribution forms (live CD, text install, ...). Now, let's take a look at the new functionality: /usr/bin/netcat alternative program name (symlink) -b bufsize I/O buffer size -E use exclusive bind for the listening socket -e program program to execute -F no network close upon EOF on stdin -i timeout extension of timeout specification -L timeout linger on close timeout -l -p port addr previously not allowed usage -m byte_count Quit after receiving byte_count bytes -N file pattern for UDP scanning -I bufsize size of input socket buffer -O bufsize size of output socket buffer -R redir_spec port redirection addr/port[/{tcp,udp}] syntax of redir_spec -Z bypass zone boundaries -q timeout timeout after EOF on stdin Obviously, the Swiss army knife of networking tools just got a bit thicker. While by themselves the options are pretty self explanatory, their combination together with other options, context of use or boundary values of option arguments make it possible to construct small but powerful tools. For example: the port redirector allows to convert TCP stream to UDP datagrams. the buffer size specification makes it possible to send one byte TCP segments or to produce IP fragments easily. the socket linger option can be used to produce TCP RST segments by setting the timeout to 0 execute option makes it possible to simulate TCP/UDP servers or clients with shell/python/Perl/whatever script etc. If you find some other helpful ways use please share via comments. Manual page nc(1) contains more details, along with examples on how to use some of these new options.

  Yesterday the Tell Us Once project received it’s latest accolade. My partner in crime in the execution of the delivery of software for this project, Mark Usher,  reports: It’s always great to receive recognition for the effort you put in when working on a project. It’s no secret that here at Solidsoft we are extremely proud of our association with the Government’s Tell Us Once (TUO) programme. Having already been selected by Microsoft as Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC) 2011 Award Winners for Application Integration, we are very pleased that the TUO programme as a whole has been recognised and has won the Guardian Newspaper’s Innovation Nation Award for Frontline Services (link to http://www.guardian.co.uk/innovation-nation-awards )  The TUO entry was judged the winner over three other shortlisted solutions from Dyfed Powys Police, North Yorkshire County Council and Staffordshire County Council. Innovation Nation is a partnership between Virgin Media Business and the Guardian, an initiative to uncover the most innovative businesses, public sector organisations and charities in the UK today.  Its aim is to showcase the ideas, the endeavour and the energy that are making things better in the areas of customer service, unique working practices, frontline government services and collaboration. Solidsoft have been involved with the Tell Us Once programme since its inception in 2007 and worked closely with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to produce a business case for the programme. Teaming up with Atos (who host the application) Solidsoft delivered the first national solution in 2011 and a second phase in April 2012. Whilst currently restricted to distributing citizen data to central government organisations and local government authorities, DWP is now actively engaging with the private sector to see if TUO data can be disclosed to private sector organisations such as banks and building societies. Solidsoft welcome this expansion into the private sector where even more efficiencies will be realised. • Configure Calendar Server 7 to Use the davUniqueId Attribute

  Starting with Calendar Server 7 Update 3 (Patch 08) we introduce a new attribute davUniqueId in the davEntity objectclass, to use as the unique identifier.  The reason behind this is quite simple, the LDAP operational attribute nsUniqueId  has been chosen as the default value used for the unique identifier. It was discovered that this choice has a potential serious downside. The problem with using nsUniqueId is that if the LDAP entry for a user, group, or resource is deleted and recreated in LDAP, the new entry would receive a different nsUniqueId value from the Directory Server, causing a disconnect from the existing account in the calendar database. As a result, recreated users cannot access their existing calendars. How To Configure Calendar Server to Use the davUniqueId Attribute? Populate the davUniqueId to the ldap users. You can create a LDIF output file only or (-x option) directly run the ldapmodify from the populate-davuniqueid shell script. # ./populate-davuniqueid -h localhost -p 389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w <passwd> -b "o=red" -O -o /tmp/out.ldif The ldapmodify might failed like below, in that case the LDAP entry already have the 'daventity' objectclass, in those cases run populate-davuniqueid script without the -O option. # ldapmodify -x -h localhost -p 389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w <passwd> -c -f /tmp/out.ldif modifying entry "uid=mparis,ou=People,o=vmdomain.tld,o=red" ldapmodify: Type or value exists (20) In this case the user 'mparis' already have the objectclass 'daventity', ldapmodify do not take care of this DN and just take the next DN (if you start ldapmodify with -c option otherwise it stop's completely) dn: uid=mparis,ou=People,o=vmdomain.tld,o=red changetype: modify add: objectclass objectclass: daventity - add: davuniqueid davuniqueid: 01a2c501-af0411e1-809de373-18ff5c8d Even run populate-davuniqueid without -O option or changing the outputfile to dn: uid=mparis,ou=People,o=vmdomain.tld,o=red changetype: modify add: davuniqueid davuniqueid: 01a2c501-af0411e1-809de373-18ff5c8d The ldapmodify works fine now. The only issue I see here is you need verify which user might need the 'daventity' objectclass as well. On the other hand start without the objectclass and only add the objectclass for the users where you get 'Objectclass violation' report. That's indicate the objectclass is missing. # ldapmodify -x -h localhost -p 389 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w <passwd> -c -f /tmp/out.ldif modifying entry "uid=mparis,ou=People,o=vmdomain.tld,o=red" Now it is time to change the configuration to use the davuniquid attribute # ./davadmin config modify -o davcore.uriinfo.permanentuniqueid -v davuniqueid It is also needed to modfiy the search filter to use davuniqueid instead of nsuniqueid # ./davadmin config modify -o davcore.uriinfo.subjectattributes -v "cn davstore icsstatus mail mailalternateaddress davUniqueId  owner preferredlanguageuid objectclass ismemberof uniquemember memberurl mgrprfc822mailmember" Afterward IWC Calendar works fine and my test user able to access all his old events.

These are like xsds, wsdls, xsls etc. Instead of hosting on http location, we use MDS to store these artifacts. We use 'oramds' protocol in all the composites instead of 'http'.
