• Adding my podcast to my Facebook fan page

  I've set up a Facebook fan page for my podcast, Otaku no Podcast. I'd love to add a Flash based player to the fan page that can play the latest episode of my podcast. Or, at the very least, a link to the latest episode on my website (which has its own Flash-based audio player). My podcast's website of course exports a valid RSS feed. I've tried several different podcast player/RSS feed display applications including Podcast Pickle (which has a facebook app), but none of them appear to work and/or are maintained any more. Podcast Pickle used to work for me a long time ago, but is no longer working for me. Any ideas?

  Which metric(s) could help to indicate that i have procedural code instead of object-oriented code? I would like to have a set of simple metrics, which indicate with a high probability, that the analyzed code contains procedural transaction scripts and an anemic domain model instead of following sound object-oriented design principles. • Offloading to HLSL/GPU without displaying?

  As far as I know, certain mathematical functions like FFTs and perlin noise, etc. can be much faster when done on the GPU as a pixel shader. My question is, if I wanted to exploit this to calculate results and stream to bitmaps, could I do it without needing to actually display it in Silverlight or something? More specifically, I was thinking of using this for large terrain generation involving lots of perlin and other noises, and post-processing like high passes and deriving normals from heightmaps, etc, etc.

  I recently upgraded my Android app to support multiple resolutions. Previously, my Android.manifest file had a line: To support multiple density and resolution devices, I changed this to: <supports-screens android:smallScreens="false" android:normalScreens="true" android:largeScreens="true" android:anyDensity="true" /> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3" android:targetSdkVersion="4" /> I then added a couple of new directories, like drawable-hdpi-v4 and drawable-long-hdpi-v4 that includes the high-res versions of the graphics. That's about it. Ever since releasing this update, there have been a decent number of users complaining about various problems: - the app icon doesn't appear (I did not create a high res version of the icon) - the home screen widget no longer works, even if they delete and re-add it (this code did not change with the update). • Why is Html.DropDownList() producing <select name="original_name.name"> instead of just <select name

  I have an editor template whose job is to take a SelectList as its model and build a select element in html using the Html.DropDownList() helper extension. I'm trying to assign the name attribute for the select based on a ModelMetadata property. (Reason: on post-back, I need to bind to an object that has a different property name for this item than the ViewModel used to populate the form.) The problem I'm running into is that DropDownList() is appending the name I'm providing instead of replacing it, so I end up with names like categories.category instead of category. • What is meant by "streaming data access" in HDFS?

  According to the HDFS Architecture page HDFS was designed for "streaming data access". I'm not sure what that means exactly, but would guess it means an operation like seek is either disabled or has sub-optimal performance. Would this be correct? I'm interested in using HDFS for storing audio/video files that need to be streamed to browser clients. Most of the streams will be start to finish, but some could have a high number of seeks. Maybe there is another file system that could do this better?

• Replacement for C low level programming?

  So C obviously has a pretty dominant low level programming stronghold.....but is anything coming out that challenges/wants to replace it? Python/C#/etc all seem to be aimed at very high level, but when it comes down to nitty-gritty low level stuff C seems to be king and I haven't seen much "try" to replace that? Is there anything out there, or does learning C for low level stuff seem to be the standard?

  My satellite receiver can stream the mpeg-2 video/audio output through lan. Using mencoder, I'm trying to build a script to encode and save the stream in real time with my Core2Duo 1.8 Ghz. Right now, I'm using a single pass, it produces good quality for a video rate of 800Kb/s, but takes more then 95% of CPU power, thus making a lot of frameskips is the computer is used while encoding. mencoder -o -vf lavcdeint -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:q=2:aq=2 -ovc x264 -ffourcc avc1 -x264encopts crf=25:me=hex:subq=9:frameref=2:nocabac:threads=auto -mc 3 So, I'm considering using a 2-pass encoding to alleviate the processor and record 100% of the stream. But I have no idea how to start. For the info: Standard Stream: mpeg-2 720*576 25fps HD Stream: 1920*1080 50fps (this is not my goal to record it, but it will be super cool if I could)

  Hello, I have 4 avi files. Each file can be played properly in VLC player, Windows media player. Video-Audio Codec type in each of this avi file is Xvid-Mpga. I used below avi joiners: Quick AVI joiner, AVI join, BoilSoft Video Joiner(trial version), but all of them gave an error when i select the first part avi file saying : "format of the part1.avi file cannot be recognized"..   I've got nginx configured as a front-end to a Python application running under gunicorn, but nginx is terminating connections after about 65k of data have been sent. For example, I've got a view which looks like this: def debug_big_file(request): return HttpResponse("x" * 500000) But when I access that URL through nginx, I only get 65283 bytes: $ curl https://example.com/debug/big-file | wc … curl: (18) transfer closed with outstanding read data remaining 0 1 65283 Note that everything works as expected when accessing gunicorn directly: $ curl http://localhost:1234/debug/big-file | wc … 0 1 500000 The relevant nginx config: location / { proxy_pass http://localhost:1234/; proxy_redirect off; proxy_headers_hash_bucket_size 96; } And nginx version 1.7.0 Some other facts: The number of bytes is consistent from request to request, but it varies based on the content (I first noticed it with a large PNG file, which was cut off after 65,372 bytes, not 65,283) 110k bytes are sent correctly (ie, "x" * 110000 returns all 110,000 bytes), but 120k bytes are not tcpdump suggests that nginx is sending a RST packet to gunicorn:

Basically it goes If Check1 = false return false If Check2 = false return false etc FxCop complains that the cyclomatic complexity is too high. I know that it is not best practice to have return statements in the middle of functions, but at the same time the only alternative I see is an ugly list of If-else statements.
