• DDNS Not Creating Journal (Dhcpd and Named)

  * EDIT 1 * After monkeying with additional debug logging I see some log entries of interest. 27-Jul-2012 23:45:26.537 general: error: zone example.lan/IN/internal: journal rollforward failed: no more 27-Jul-2012 23:45:26.537 general: error: zone example.lan/IN/internal: not loaded due to errors. ^^^ If I can remedy the above messages I think I'll be good to go ^^^ * EDIT 2 * Grasping at straws I touched a forward and a reverse zone journal file and restarted named. Boom! Works. Despite documentation stating the files are created automatically and what I have seen before... dunno why but that did the trick. Also re-checked perms on the dir the files live in. As certain as I was, they were correct with named having rw. CentOS 6 (final) dhcpd 4.1.1-P1 named BIND 9.8.2rc1-RedHat-9.8.2-0.10.rc1.el6 Basic DHCP and DNS functionality are in place on 192.168.111.2. Clients are assigned addresses as intended and can resolve local DNS names as well as Internet names. My problem is that named's zone journal files are not created. chroot: /var/named/chroot I tried placing the zone files in various directories (/var/named/data, /var/named, /var/named/dynamic - no matter which dir with named owning and wide open perms I now get nowhere). Along the way I, at one point, got a permission denied when named tried to create the journal. Resolved the issue by: chown --recursive named:named /var/named chmod --recursive 777 /var/named The journal was then created and here's where things fell apart. I attempted to tame permissions to something more sane and broke it. Once changed and having restarted named it threw an error indicating the journal was out of sync (or something to that affect)... didn't matter since this is a new setup so I deleted it and now it is not recreated. Now though I see no errors in /var/log/messages, my chrooted /var/log/named.log, or chrooted /var/log/named.debug. I increased the debug level with 'rndc trace' - no love. Increased trace to 10, still nothing. SELinux is disabled... • How to reset all the values after completion of the game, before starting it again ?

  I have writing a small shooting game in cocos2d. Winning the game is to eliminate all the 10 enemies. After that end screen comes showing 'You Won' and 'Play Again'. If I go for 'Play Again' option the game is starting from where I need. But, the problem is that the game is continuing from previously ended state. I mean it is not starting from enemy 1 again instead it is just showing the end of 10 enemy. I think I have to reset all the values before pushing the scene. But should I reset all the values I have used or there is any other way ? Thank You.

• Conceptual question about NSAutoreleasePools

  In my Cocoa program, wouldn't a really simple way of dealing with autoreleased objects be to just create a timer object inside the app delegate that calls the following method e.g. every 10 seconds: if (pool) { // Release & drain the current pool to free the memory. [pool release]; } // Create a new pool. pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; The only problems I can imagine are: 1) If the above code runs in a separate thread, an object might get autoreleased between the release call to the old pool and the creation of the new pool - that seems highly unlikely though. 2) It's obviously not that efficient, because the pool might get released if there's nothing in it. Likewise, in the 10 second gap, many many objects might be autoreleased, causing the pool to grow a lot. Still, the above solution seems pretty suitable to small and simple projects. Why doesn't anybody use it? What's the best practice of using NSAutoreleasePools?

• Drawing bezier curve with limited subdivisions in OpenGL

  Is it possible to tell OpenGL to draw a 4 degree (5 control points) bezier curve with 10 subdivisions? I was trying with this: point ctrlpts[] = {..., ..., ..., ...}; glMap1f(GL_MAP1_VERTEX_3, 0, 1, 3, 5, ctrlpts); glBegin(GL_LINE_STRIP); for (i = 0; i <= 30; i++) glEvalCoord1f((GLfloat) i/30.0); glEnd(); But this just draws the curve nicely. I am thinking that I want the algorithm inside the bezier curve to draw only until 10 subdivisions and then stop. The line should look a little facet.

  I would like to change the default behavior of Wordpress regarding the number of articles displayed on a same page to be the following : when displaying the home page, the 10 most recent articles should be displayed, 10 being the setting which can be changed through the admin panel (posts_per_page) when displaying the articles of a specific month (given through the URL like this : ?m=200906&order=ASC, I'd like to display on the same page all articles of this month (in other words, I don't want to have to browse through articles using previous entries or next entries. EDIT : I forgot something else I'd like to change : On the page where all articles of the specified month are displayed, I would like to display the comments for each article. Is this possible to do ? How ?

  Given a text file that is supposed to contain 10 tab-delimited columns (i.e. 9 tabs), I'd like to find all rows that have more than 10 columns (more than 9 tabs). Each row ends with CR-LF. Assume nothing about the data, field widths, etc, other than the above. Comments regarding approach, and/or working code would be extremely appreciated. • How to control the memory size of continuously running windows service?

  Hi, I have created a windows service which is continuously polling a database. For this purpose i have a timer in place. Ever time i am querying a database table i open a connection and close it immediately after my work is done. Right now i am doing this every 20 seconds for testing purpose, but later this time might increase to 5 - 10 minutes. What happens is everytime the database table is polled there is an increase of 10-12 KB in the size of the memory of the service running. This i can see in the task manager. Is there any way to control this.

• Django: Geocoding an address on form submission?

  Trying to wrap my head around django forms and the django way of doing things. I want to create a basic web form that allows a user to input an address and have that address geocoded and saved to a database. I created a Location model: class Location(models.Model): address = models.CharField(max_length=200) city = models.CharField(max_length=100) state = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) postal_code = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) country = models.CharField(max_length=100) latitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) longitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) And defined a form: class LocationForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = models.Location exclude = ('latitude','longitude') In my view I'm using form.save() to save the form. This works and saves an address to the database. I created a module to geocode an address. I'm not sure what the django way of doing things is, but I guess in my view, before I save the form, I need to geocode the address and set the lat and long. How do I set the latitude and longitude before saving?

  I'm playing with a simple WPF application. One part of it includes a grid containing several controls. The grid is rotated using a LayoutTransform and a RotateTransform. I need to get the co-ordinates of a mouse-click relative to the top-left of the grid, taking the rotation into account. To be clear, let's say I have a single drawing surface within the grid and no transform had been applied. I then click at location X = 20, Y = 10 and put a dot on the drawing surface at that point. If the grid is now rotated by 30 degrees and I click on the dot (which is also moved by the rotation), the click position should still be X = 20, Y = 10.

• SQL Server Query Slow from PHP, but FAST from SQL Mgt Studio - WHY???

  I have a fast running query (sub 1 sec) when I execute the query in SQL Server Mgt Studio, but when I run the exact same query in PHP (on the same db instace) using FreeTDS v8, mssql_query(), it takes much longer (70+ seconds). The tables I'm hitting have an index on a date field that I'm using in the Where clause. Could it be that PHP's mssql functions aren't utilizing the index? I have also tried putting the query inside a stored procedure, then executing the SP from PHP - the same results in time difference occurs. I have also tried adding a WITH ( INDEX( .. ) ) clause on the table where that has the date index, but no luck either.   I'm developing an online website (using Django and Mysql). I have a Tests table and User table. I have 50 tests within the table and each user completes them at their own pace. How do I store the status of the tests in my DB? One idea that came to my mind is to create an additional column in User table. That column containing testid's separated by comma or any other delimiter. userid | username | testscompleted 1 john 1, 5, 34 2 tom 1, 10, 23, 25 Another idea was to create a seperate table to store userid and testid. • validates_uniqueness_of...limiting scope - How do I restrict someone from creating a certain number

  I have the following code: class Like < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :site validates_uniqueness_of :ip_address, :scope => [:site_id] end Which limits a person from "liking" a site more than one time based on a remote ip request. Essentially when someone "likes" a site, a record is created in the Likes table and I use a hidden field to request and pass their ip address to the :ip_address column in the like table. With the above code I am limiting the user to one "like" per their ip address. I would like to limit this to a certain number for instance 10. My initial thought was do something like this: validates_uniqueness_of :ip_address, :scope => [:site_id, :limit => 10] But that doesn't seem to work. Is there a simple syntax here that will allow me to do such a thing?

  I am populating my Rails database using populator, and I have a case where I would like to build a series of records where fields start_date and end_date follow seamlessly from each other (from today back into the past). Here is a sample of what I'm doing: Chain.populate 1 do |ch| ch.date_end = DateTime.now ch.date_start = DateTime.civil(DateTime.now.year-rand(40)-1, rand(12)+1, rand(31)+1) end Chain.populate 0..10 do |chs| chs.date_end = Chain.find(:last).date_start chs.date_start = DateTime.civil(chs.date_end.year-rand(10)-1, rand(12)+1, rand(31)+1) end Problem? undefined method 'date_start' for nil:NilClass. I assume the problem is the first Chain record hasn't been saved, so I added: Chain.save # in between the two loops This didn't work either. How can I make this work? Thank you!

  All, I have a problem related to imageView, android. I have array which contains of 10 bitmap objects, called bm. I have a imageView, called im. Now I wanna show the bitmaps in the array in im one by one, so I did the following: new Thread(new Runnable() { public void run() { for(int j=0;j<10;j++){ im.setImageBitmap(bm[j]); } } }).start(); But the result only shows the last bitmap in the array. Can someone tell me what to do with this issue? Millions of thanks!
