• ASP.Net Vertical Menu with Scroll functionality

  Referring to Menu / Scrolling Example I would like to create / find the same functionality for a vertical menu. I tried the following. <asp:Menu ID="menuAccountMembers" runat="server" StaticSubMenuIndent="16px" Visible="true" RenderingMode="Table" ScrollDownImageUrl="~/Resources/scrolldown.jpg" ScrollUpImageUrl="~/Resources/scrollup.jpg"> <Items> But it doesnt display any scrolling images. I am using .net 4.0 Tried setting menuAccountMembers.RenderingCompatibility = new Version(3, 5); as well. If there a property to only display the first 5 root menu items, then show scroll bars for the rest? It can be click-able, no need to hover over to show next item.

For example consider this class tree: org.clixel.ClxBasic - org.clixel.ClxObject - org.clixel.ClxSprite - WindowsGame1.test Then consider this code public List<ClxBasic> objects = new List<ClxBasic>(); foreach(GroupTester tester in objects) { tester.GroupTesterOnlyProperty = true; } tester.GroupTesterOnlyProperty is a property created in GroupTester. Is there some way to make something like this work, like an overload of foreach, or another snippet that might help me? I want to make it easy for a programmer to sort through the lists grabbing only what type they need.

• Custom iterator for dictionary?

  Hi folks, in my C#-Application, I have a Dictionary object. When iterating over the object using foreach, I naturally get each element of the dictionary. But I want only certain elements to be iterated, depending on the value of a property of MyValue. class MyValue { public bool AmIIncludedInTheIteration { get; set; } ... } Whenever AmIIncludedInTheIteration is false, the item shall not be returned by foreach. I understand that I need to implement my own iterator and override the Dictionary-Iterator somewhere. Can anyone here give me a short HowTo? Thanks in advance, Frank

• Using condionals in Linq Programatically

  I was just reading a recent question on using conditionals in Linq and it reminded me of an issue I have not been able to resolve. When building Linq to SQL queries programatically how can this be done when the number of conditionals is not known until runtime? For instance in the code below the first clause creates an IQueryable that, if executed, would select all the tasks (called issues) in the database, the 2nd clause will refine that to just issues assigned to one department if one has been selected in a combobox (Which has it's selected item bound to the departmentToShow property). How could I do this using the selectedItems collection instead?   Hi there: I defined in my code two classes: a "Person" class with public "Age" and "Name" property, and a "People" class that inherits from Generic.List(of T). The code for People class is as followed: Public Class People Inherits Collections.Generic.List(Of Person) ... End Class What I want to achieve is to directly initialize the People class, and add individual Person to it in XAML, i.e.: <local:People x:Key="Familty"> <local:Person Age="11" Name="John" /> <local:Person Age="12" Name="John2" /> ... </local:People> But I keep getting an error in XAML saying: The type 'People' does not support direct content. Any idea as for how to solve this problem? Thank you very much!

  Hi, I'm writing a Maven plugin that merges CSS files together. So all the CSS files that match /foo/bar/*.css might get merged to /foo/merged.css. A concern is that in a file such as /foo/bar/baz.css there might be a property such as: background: url("images/pic.jpg") So when the file is merged into /foo/merged.css this will need to be changed to background: url("bar/images/pic.jpg") The recalculated URL obviously depends on 3 factors: original URL original CSS file location merged CSS file location Assuming that the original and merged CSS files are both on the same filesystem, is there a general formula (or Java library) that can be used to calculate the new url given these 3 inputs? • TypeError: Error #1009 Actionscript 3 help.

  I am extremely frustrated. I'm following a tutorial and mimicing it on my own. I've been able to sort out most of the errors so far but this one has me stumped. I have tried replacing all of the class files with the tutorial specimen ones but i still get the error. TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at com.senocular.utils::KeyObject/construct() at com.senocular.utils::KeyObject() at com.asgamer.basics1::Ship() at com.asgamer.basics1::Engine() Now, not really understanding the error properly I paste dumped the files online for you to look at. Ship class: textbin.com/78z35 Engine class: textbin.com/32b24 KeyObject class: textbin.com/p2725 As the error still occured when using the specimen class files I really have no idea where to begin. • Maven : Is it possible to override the configuration of a plugin already defined for a profile in a parent POM

A solution based on duplicating the parent POM and/or the profile defined inside it is not a good one. Since if the responsible of the parent POM change something, I would have to report it in mine. It's just an inheritance matter (extend or override a profile, a configuration from an upper-level POM) so I think it should be possible with maven2.

• How can I bind dynamic data to DataGridTemplateColun in code?

  I'm using DataGrid from CodePlex. I have objects (ICustomTypeDescriptor) that have properties 'name' 'description' 'c' 'd' and so on (the names are dynamic, and so is the value) and they have information behind them. I have templates for different types. And if I have to list the properties of a single element I can just bind to the values in xaml and use datatemplateselector (in datagridtemplatecolumn) which will pick the correct template. However, when I'm listing several of the elements, how can I use the selectors and the templates? How do I get the correct property bound to the template (two-way)? When ignoring the need for different templates, using DataGridTextColumn with bindings is very simple (and works, see example below), is there any way to use similar approach with the DataGridTemplateColumn? foreach (String propertyName in listOfPropertyNames) { DataGridTextColumn textColumn = new DataGridTextColumn() { Header = propertyName, Binding = new Binding() { Path = new PropertyPath(propertyName) } }; DataGrid.Columns.Add(textColumn); }

  In LINQ To Entities: How do I get the records (including both child and parent) based on a condition of the child in a one to many. My structure is set up as follows: GetResources() - returns a list of Resources. GetResources().ResourceNames - this is the child, which is an entity collection. GetResources().ResourceNames - a property of one record of this child is Name. I'd like to construct something like this: return (from p in repository.GetResources() where p.ResourceNames.Exist(r => r.Name.Contains(text, StringComparison.CurrentCultureIgnoreCase)) select p).ToList(); but of course, Exist doesn't exist. thanks.

• Hibernate database connection configuration

  We have 2 different server environments using the same Hibernate configuration. One server has JNDI support for datasource, but the other does not. Currently the Hibernate configuration is configured to use JNDI, which is causing problem on the server that does not support JNDI. I have also tried to put the direct JDBC configuration together with JNDI configuration into the configuration file, but it looks like hibernate always favors JNDI over direct JDBC configuration if both exist. My question is, will it be the same if both JNDI and connection_provider configuration both exists? Will Hibernate still use JNDI over connection_provider? Or is there any way to change the precedence of the database connection property? I do not have access to the server all the time, so I thought I do ask the question before my window of the sever time. Thanks in advance.

  Hi to all. I'm triying to make a function that add a 'where' clause to a query based in a property and a value. This is a very simplefied version of my function. Private Function simplified(ByVal query As IQueryable(Of T), ByVal PValue As Long, ByVal p As PropertyInfo) As ObjectQuery(Of T) query = query.Where(Function(c) DirectCast(p.GetValue(c, Nothing), Long) = PValue) Dim t = query.ToList 'this line is only for testing, and here is the error raise Return query End Function The error message is: LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object CompareObjectEqual(System.Object, System.Object, Boolean)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. Looks like a can't use GetValue inside a linq query. Can I achieve this in other way? Post your answer in C#/VB. Chose the one that make you feel more confortable. Thanks

  I write a RIA application and my JPA beans must be decoded to push it in Store. My decisions are: Brute Force. If I have property 'aProp' in bean (and getter/setter for it) i create RecordDef, then Record, then Recrod.set('aProp', bean.getAProp()) and so on.. (it is terrible) I can write generator for creating a Factory of Records (it is my desision and i write it). For example: RecordFactory<User> factory = GWT.create(User.class); //User is entity I now that i need a reflection, BUT GWT have no implementation of reflection (some libraries emulates this, but they builds on generators) Exists the best way? • Why won't my control accept keyboard input?

  I've built a custom control that I'm trying to send input to. It will accept mouse input and report MouseDown, MouseMove and MouseUp correctly, but for whatever reason, it won't accept keyboard input. When I click on it, it doesn't receive focus, and any keys I press get interpreted by whatever control had the focus already. This is probably something really simple. The first place I thought to look was in the ControlStyle property, but the only thing I can see in the helpfile about keyboard input is csNoStdEvents, which disables it, and my control doesn't have that. So what do I need to do to make it so my control can receive input focus?

  I have a databound Listbox bound to a generic list as follows (Provider is a very simple class that just includes a single property (Name). ProviderList = new List<Provider>(); //Populate list Providers.ItemsSource = ProviderList; I can save the selected item with no problem but I can't manage to set the selected item from code afterwards. I am trying to do so as follows: int x = Providers.Items.IndexOf((Provider)_Settings["provider"]); However IndexOf() is always returning -1. If I inspect both Providers.Items[1] and _Setting["provider"] at runtime using the immediate window they both return {StoreRetrieveData.Provider} Name: "Greenflag" Am I doing something wrong (well clearly I am)?

• 2 or more Controls only 1 is considered Active

  I have 2 controls (MyCtrl) next to each other called ctrlLeft and ctrlRight. Whenever one receives interaction it is considered active (by default the left one). I override OnDraw and customize the look of the active one a bit. Currently I have a property Active and an event that I subscribe to from all MyCtrl in there I store a reference to the active one like this: if (sender is MyCtrl) { ctrlActive = (sender as MyCtrl); ctrlLeft.Active = !(ctrlRight.Active = (ctrlActive == ctrlRight)); } Either way I need to have ctrlActive as I use it for other things but what I am wondering is if this is the best way make them aware of each other? Another option I thought of was to store references to every possible MyCtrl and then loop through em all and activate / deactivate the one that match sender just in case I in the future add a ctrlMiddle. Are my thoughts wrong, is there better options to do this. For example, how does radiobuttons accomplish their similar functionality?

  Application we developed fills MS Word templates with data from Database. Customers require to have ability edit Word templates via MS Word (change style, font, layout e.t.c) with no additional software to be installed and no training. AFAIK, Sql Reporting Services and Crystal Reports can't populate MS Word templates produced in MS Word. So we implemented our custom solution that maps .net classes onto xml-saved MS Word documents. It looks like we declare class MyTemplate { // maps to [age] field declared in ms document straight in the text int Age { get; set; } // maps to table by attributes applied to property (omitted) List<Person> Persons { get; set; } } We also implemented images insertion. Are there any free libraries for this task or may be you use your own MS-word templators in your projects?

• IPhone: different system timers??

  I have been using mach_absolute_time() for all my timing functions so far. calculating how long between frames ect. I now want to get the exact time touch input events happen using event.timestamp in the touch callbacks. the problem is these two seem to use completely different timers. sure, you can get them both in seconds, but their origins are different and seemingly random... is there any way to sync the two different timers? or is there anyway to get access to the same timer that the touch input uses to generate that timestamp property? otherwise its next to useless.

  I have a listbox that is databound to a Collection of objects. The listbox is configured to display an identifier property of each object. I would like to show a tooltip with information specific to the item within the listbox that is being hovered over rather than one tooltip for the listbox as a whole. I am working within WinForms and thanks to some helpful blog posts put together a pretty nice solution, which I wanted to share. I'd be interested in seeing if there's any other elegant solutions to this problem, or how this may be done in WPF.

Handles radioButton.Click { ... } Now, When I build this is .NET 3.5 in release mode, and see the generated code in reflector tool, the code is something like, Private Overridable Property radioButton As RadioButton . . . <AccessedThroughProperty("radioButton")> _ Private _radioButton As RadioButton Can someone tell me what is going on here? • How To Find the Control or Page a User Control is Embedded In

  I've written a web user control which I want to be able to drop into the markup for either aspx pages or other web user controls. I need my user control to be able to easily and efficiently work out if its inside another user control or an aspx page. My initial idea is to do it recursively with checks on the Parent property - continue looking up the nesting hierarchy until I find either a web form or a user control - but I'm not sure this the best way of going about this. Can you suggest an easier way? thanks 5arx
