• EC2 instance suddenly refusing SSH connections and won't respond to ping

  My instance was running fine and this morning I was able to access a Ruby on Rails app hosted on it. An hour later I suddenly wasn't able to access my site, my SSH connection attempts were refused and the server wasn't even responding to ping. I didn't change anything on my system during that hour and reboots aren't fixing it. I've never had any problems connecting or pinging the system before. Can someone please help? This is on my production system!   I have an object of type list from which I wish to use to populate a treeview in asp.net c#. Each object item has: id | Name | ParentId so for example: id | Name | ParentId 1 | Alice | 0 2 | Bob | 1 3 | Charlie | 1 4 | David | 2 In the above example, the parent would be Alice having two children Bob and Charlie. David is the child of Bob. I have had many problems trying to dynamically populate the treeview recursively in c# ASP.NET Does any one have a simple solution? Btw: you can use People.Id, People.Name and People.ParentId to access the members since it is an object belonging to list. I can post you my code so far (many attempts made) but not sure how useful it will be.

• ManyToMany Relation does not create the primary key

  Hello, I have a ManyToMany relationship between two classes: ClassA and ClassB, but when the table for this relationship (table called objectA_objectB) there is no primary key on it. In my ClassA I have the following: @ManyToMany(fetch=FetchType.LAZY) @OrderBy(value="name") @JoinTable(name="objectA_objectB", joinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectA", referencedColumnName="id"), inverseJoinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectB", referencedColumnName="id") ) private List<ClassB> objectsB; and in my ClassB I have the reversed relation @ManyToMany List<ClassA> objectsA; I just want to make a primary key of both id's but I need to change the name of the columns as I do. Why is the PK missing? How can I define it? I use JPA 2.0 Hibernate implementation, if this helps. Thanks.

• Panel visible=true has no effect

• Android - Convert Color Resource to Color in Domain Object

  I have a domain object, where I created a method to return a text color based on the internal state of the domain object. I have defined the colors in a color.xml file as resources. The problem I have now, is that I would like to return a Color object instead of a resource ID from the domain object method. This way I can set the text color of a TextView by just calling textView.setTextColor(domainObj.getTextColor()) since it expects a Color object and not a resource ID. Currently, in an Activity, I can call getResources().getColor(domainObj.getTextColorResource()) to convert a resource ID to a color, but I would like this done in the domain object and I am not sure how I would do this when I do not have access to the getResources method. Are there any cleaner options than passing in a Resource object into the method, or domain object? Thanks

I also want to include the hierachly structure of the categories. So if we have a leave node, recusivly go up to the top node.   I have a system where the employeeId must alway exist unless there is some underlying problem. The way I see it, is that I have two choices to check this code: 1: public void GetEmployee(Employee employee) { bool exists = EmployeeRepository.VerifyIdExists(Employee.Id); if (!exists) { throw new Exception("Id does not exist); } } or 2: public void GetEmployee(Employee employee) { EmployeeRepository.AssertIfNotFound(Employee.Id); } Is option #2 acceptable in the C# language? I like it because it's tidy in that i don't like looking at "throw new Exception("bla bla bla") type messages outsite the class scope.

  Hi, I have a simple users table, i guess the maximum users i am going to have is 300,000. Currently i am using: CREATE TABLE users ( id INT UNSIGEND AUTOINCEREMENT PRIMARY KEY, .... Of course i have many other tables that the users(id) is a FOREIGN KEY in them. I read that since the id is not going to use the full maximum of INT it is better to use: MEDIUMINT and it will give better performance. Is it true? (I am using mysql on Windows Server 2008) Thanks.

• Django query: Count and Group BY

  I have a query that I'm trying to figure the "django" way of doing it: I want to take the last 100 calls from Call. Which is easy: calls = Call.objects.all().order_by('-call_time')[:100] However the next part I can't find the way to do it via django's ORM. I want to get a list of the call_types and the number of calls each one has WITHIN that previous queryset i just did. Normally i would do a query like this: "SELECT COUNT(id),calltype FROM call WHERE id IN ( SELECT id FROM call ORDER BY call_time DESC LIMIT 100 ) GROUP BY calltype;" I can't seem to find the django way of doing this particular query.   I have a web service that is working fine in one environment but not in another. The web service gets document meta data from SharePoint, it running on a server where I cant debug but with logging I confirmed that the method enters and exits successfully. What could be the reason for the errors? • Cucumber/Webrat: follow link by CSS class?

  Hello there, is it possible to follow a link by it's class name instead of the id, text or title? Given I have (haha, cucumber insider he?) the following html code: <div id="some_information_container"> <a href="edit" class="edit_button">Translation here</a> </div> I do not want to match by text because I'd have to care about the translation values in my tests I want to have my buttons look all the same style, so I will use the CSS class. I don't want to assign a id to every single link, because some of them are perfectly identified through the container and the link class Is there anything I missed in Cucumber/Webrat? Or do you have some advices to solve this in a better way? • Exception declared on ANTLR grammar rule ignored

  I have a tree parser that's doing semantic analysis on the AST generated by my parser. It has a rule declared as follows: transitionDefinition throws WorkflowStateNotFoundException: /* ... */ This compiles just fine and matches the rule syntax at the ANTLR Wiki but my exception is never declared so the Java compiler complains about undeclared exceptions. ./tool/src/main/antlr3/org/antlr/grammar/v3/ANTLRv3.g shows that it's building a tree (but I'm not actually positive if it's the v2 or v3 grammar that ANTLR 3.2 is using): throwsSpec : 'throws' id ( ',' id )* -> ^('throws' id+) ; I know I can make it a runtime exception, but I'd like to use my exception hierarchy. Am I doing something wrong or should that syntax work?

• Use variable as dictionary key in Django template

  I'd like to use a variable as an key in a dictionary in a Django template. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. If I have a product with a name or ID field, and ratings dictionary with indices of the product IDs, I'd like to be able to say: {% for product in product_list %} <h1>{{ ratings.product.id }}</h1> {% endfor %} In python this would be accomplished with a simple ratings[product.id] But I can't make it work in the templates. I've tried using with... no dice. Ideas?
