• String padding for a text template

  I'm creating a PDF file from a txt-template with tcpdf ([Example 8][1]). The txt-template looks like this: SALUTATION FIRSTNAME LASTNAME STREET CURRENTDATE SOMEMOREINFORMATION MYWEBSITE I replace those markers with the correct value. So that it would look like this: Mr. John Doe Downingstreet 10 14th May, 2010 [email protected] www.stackoverflow.com In this example, when I replace the values, the indention of the date is dependent on the length of the street name (which I don't want). I could solve this issue with str_pad but the problem is, I normally use three columns and there are lines which only have content in col1 and col3 as in the last line. How can I solve that problem? Is there something like the "overwrite" function in Word, that when you write, the text just gets overwritten? Thanks in advance.

  Hello! I am looking for a way to perform fulltext search on the DOM tree with JS. In two words, I would like to retrieve the list of text nodes which contain a given string. I've tried mootools' Element.getElements ( ':contains[string]' ) but I can't get it to work with strings containing whitespace. I'm thinking about simply indexing all text nodes and checking against each node for the string being searched for, but, in my project, there's no way of telling when the DOM updates in order to maintain such an index up-to-date. Any better ideas? Thanks

• Neat way of gettings position of my Object in linq collections

  I currently have a object called Week. A week is part of a Season object. the season can contain many weeks. What I want to do is find the position of my week (is it the first week in the season (so #1) or is it the second (so #2). int i = 0; foreach ( var w in Season.Weeks.OrderBy(w => w.WeekStarts)){ if(w.Id == Id){ return i; } i+=1; } At the moment this is what I have. I order the weeks in a second by there start date to make sure they are in the correct order. and I cycle through them until I find the week that matches the week I am currently looking at. and return the int that I have been counting up.. I feel there should be a easier linq way to do this as it feels pretty messy!

This script also adds the current date once it makes a copy and moves it this file into a backup folder, i am planning to have this bat file run by a windows scheduler task every day. • created modified function (default) is not working in Cakephp 1.2 version

  I created an application and all the db tables have 'created,modified' fields that filled automatically by Cakephp's Default Functionality. And i put the Field Type is created datetime NULL, modified datetime NULL, like. But it doesn't work. The data where shows 0000-00-00 00:00:00 Format. The cakephp version is 1.2 , so i put the datetime NULL option ,also i removed the temp,cache files in Model. I need to save the correct date & time format for those 2 fields. If there is any problem with XAMPP version (I use the latest version of XAMPP,1.7.7 PHP: 5.3.8 & mysql v 5.5.16 ) I hope that all are identifies my Issue. Please help me with correct solution.   Hi, My classifieds website has been present online since 2006, the html pages are indexed and rank as expected whereas a search on Google Images for site:example.com returns nothing & in Yahoo or Bing it returns only a few image results, 8 to 10. • Entering Complex Data into Access

  Fairly new to Access and trying to do something that seems simple, but may be very complex. I want to create a database of projects, each project has several phases (ie proposal, marketing, etc) and that will allow for multiple employees to work on a single project. Ie Bob and John are working on project number 102. From here, i would like to enter the forecasted start and end dates for each phase of the project, and enter the forecasted number our hours each employee will be allowed to work on that phase of that project ie. Project - Employee - Phase - Start - End - (list weeks) 102 - Bob - Marketing - 12-May-10 - 21-May-10 - 3 - 5 (3 hours first week, 5 hours the second) and so on Basically would all this data be on one table, or several? And can access dynamically show the weeks between the start and end date so that i can input the hours? I feel this database will become severely complicated :S Thanks, J

  Is there a way to duplicate a db record with linq to sql in c#? Id [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, [Foo] [nvarchar](255) NOT NULL, [Bar] [numeric](28,12) NOT NULL, ... Given the table above, I would like to duplicate a record (but give it a different id), in a way that new fields added to the DB and the Linq dbml file at a later date will still get duplicated with out having to change that code that duplicates the record. ie I don't want to write newRecord.Foo = currentRecord.Foo; for all of the fields on the table.

  The google page speed tool recommends me to set 'Expires' headers for images etc. But what is the most efficient way to set an Expires header for an image?   Hi, I'm using an SSL certificate from geotrust. I just ordered and installed it this weekend. However when I try to access my website using https, firefox (and the other browsers as well) the browser warns that the certificate expired a few days ago. I guess there could be two reasons: I made a mistake during the installation of the certificate Geotrust did not sign the certificate properly. First I want to rule out the second reason considering my browser tells me the certificate expired a few days ago. This does not make sense at all. Is there a way to extract the expiration date from the certificate? Thanks!

First one you fill in some requests, then you select time and date, and last step is to fill in your name and address etc. How should the validation be taken care of, since I also need to validate all "3 steps" when pressing submit on the last step. Do I need to have 4 viewmodels there? like step1model, step2model...... and then validateallmodel? And must I use some session-like in between since it "redirect's" to next step if successful? /M

• Perl module for parsing natural language time duration specifications (similar to the "at" command)?

  I'm writing a perl script that takes a "duration" option, and I'd like to be able to specify this duration in a fairly flexible manner, as opposed to only taking a single unit (e.g. number of seconds). The UNIX at command implements this kind of behavior, by allowing specifications such as "now + 3 hours + 2 days". For my program, the "now" part is implied, so I just want to parse the stuff after the plus sign. (Note: the at command also parses exact date specifications, but I only want to parse durations.) Is there a perl module for parsing duration specifications like this? I don't need the exact syntax accepted by at, just any reasonable syntax for specifying time durations. Edit: Basically, I want something like DateTime::Format::Flexible for durations instead of dates.

• MS Access caching of reports / query results

  Is it possible to cache a query or report the first time it is run? It seems that opening a report will re-query the datasource. For certain queries, the data source does not change frequently enough that I'd be worried about a cache being out of date (users are notified when the database changes), and it would be much easier for the users to be able to open the report instantly rather than having to wait several minutes every time they want to see the data (though I realize if they close the file the caches will be lost - that's OK). Data comes from an ODBC connection to Oracle, using Access 2003.

  I am customizing the insert SQL generated by hibernate and have hit an issue. When Hibernate generates the query by itself, it inserts data into the first two columns of the table, but this causes a database error since all four columns of the table are non-nullable. For the insert to be performed properly, it must insert the same data into two columns of the new record. This means that I need Hibernate to bind the same data to two different parameters in the query (prepared statement) that I am writing. Is there some SQL syntax that allows me to refer to anonymous parameters bound to a prepared statement in an order different from which they are bound?   what would be the impact on SEO of changing the text of the <h1> dynamically on the server side each time the web page loads? I'm not talking about changing the whole text, just part of it, for example if the header contains some fixed text (with keywords of course), and also contains the current date or time/the current number of logged on users/the count of items current in stock/whatever. how would that affect my ranking? is it bad? doesn't make a difference? thanks.

  I'm writing a PHP script to generate SQL dumps from my database for version control purposes. It already dumps the data structure by means of running the appropriate SHOW CREATE .... query. Now I want to dump data itself but I'm unsure about the best method. My requirements are: I need a record per row Rows must be sorted by primary key SQL must be valid and exact no matter the data type (integers, strings, binary data...) Dumps should be identical when data has not changed I can detect and run mysqldump as external command but that adds an extra system requirement and I need to parse the output in order to remove headers and footers with dump information I don't need (such as server version or dump date). I'd love to keep my script as simple as I can so it can be hold in an standalone file. What are my alternatives?

Thanks :) Its also defiantly at least connecting to the website as my firewall asked me if the Terminal was aloud to access it. At the moment not only is it displaying no errors its actually letting anything through and saving it.

• Why does XCode keep downloading old deleted profiles and duplicates of the same profile?

  If I refresh the profiles in XCode it: a) Pulls down ones that no longer exist. Profiles that have been deleted from the portal and are no longer there b) Pulls down multiple copies of the same profile. If I add a new device and then update the profiles to include that new device. Then XCode will pull down the new updated profile but also the same profile with an older date (even though the portal only shows one, the latest). If I delete them them XCode they re-appear. I'm having problems getting push notifications to work with an ad-hoc distrubtion and so want to ensure I am build with the latest profiles. This behaviour of XCode is irritating at least, and possibly the source of my problems at worst.

• Connecting data to a GUI - OOP

  I have an application with several graphs and tables on it. I worked fast and just made classes like Graph and Table that each contained a request object (pseudo-code): class Graph { private request; public function setDateRange(dateRange) { request.setDateRange(dateRange); } public function refresh() { request.getData(function() { //refresh the display }); } } Upon a GUI event (say, someone changes the date range dropdown), I'd just call the setters on the Graph instance and then refresh it. Well, when I added other GUI elements like tables and whatnot, they all basically had similar methods (setDateRange and other things common to the request). What are some more elegant OOP ways of doing this? The application is very simple and I don't want to over-architect it, but I also don't want to have a bunch of classes with basically the same methods that are just routing to a request object. I also don't want to set up each GUI class as inheriting from the request class, but I'm open to any ideas really.

It comes up with a box where I entered in the GUID. I copied and pasted it straight from my test database. I get this error. Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 5 Incorrect syntax near 'cac671b'. So why can't I sent in GUIDs? even ones that are copied right from the database and must be valid as they where allowed into the db.

• How can I sqldump a huge database?

  SELECT count(*) from table gives me 3296869 rows. The table only contains 4 columns, storing dropped domains. I tried to dump the sql through: $backupFile = $dbname . date("Y-m-d-H-i-s") . '.gz'; $command = "mysqldump --opt -h $dbhost -u $dbuser -p $dbpass $dbname | gzip > $backupFile"; However, this just dumps an empty 20 KB gzipped file. My client is using shared hosting so the server specs and resource usage aren't top of the line. I'm not even given ssh access or access directly to the database so I have to make queries through PHP scripts I upload via FTP ( SFTP isn't an option, again ). Is there some way I can perhaps sequentially download portions of it, or pass an argument to mysqldump that will optimize it? I came across http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/000690.html which mentions the -q flag and tried that but it didn't seem to do anything differently.
