  • Java web-app debugging not possible due to direct undeploy on debug

    When i try to debug my webapp it starts up the tomcat server and the application, but shuts down the debugger shortly before the app gets usable. I see the debugging toolbar for a second before it vanishes again, though the app keeps running.   • In Protobuf-net how can I pass an array of type object with objects of different types inside, knowi

    I am trying to migrate existing code that uses XmlSerializer to protobuf-net due to the increased performance it offers, however I am having problems with this specific case. I have an object[] that includes parameters that are going to be sent to a remote host (sort of a custom mini rpc facility). I know the set of types from which these parameters can be, but I cannot tell in advance in which order they are going to be sent. I have three constraints. The first is that I am running in Compact Framework, so I need something that works there. Second, as I mentioned performance is a big concern (on the serializing side) so I would rather avoid using a lot of reflection there if possible. And the most important is that I care about the order in which this parameters were sent. Using XmlSerializer it was easy just adding XmlInclude, but for fields there is nothing equivalent as far as I know in Protobuf-net. So, is there a way to do this? Here is a simplified example. [Serializable] [XmlInclude(typeof(MyType1)), XmlInclude(typeof(MyType2)), XmlInclude(typeof(MyType3)) public class Message() { public object[] parameters; public Message(object[] parms) { parameters = parms; } } Message m = new Message(new object[] {MyType1(), 33, "test", new MyType3(), new MyType3()}); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); XmlSerializer xml = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Message)); xml.Serialize(ms,xml); That will just work with XmlSerializer, but if I try to convert it to protobuf-net I will get a "No default encoding for Object" message. The best I came up with is to use generics and [ProtoInclude] as seen in this example. Since I can have different object types within the array this doesn't quite make it. I added a generic List for each potential type and a property with [ProtoIgnore] with type object[] to add them and get them. I have to use reflection when adding them (to know in which array to put each item) which is not desirable and I still can't preserve the ordering as I just extract all the items on each list one by one and put them into a new object[] array on the property get. I wonder if there is a way to accomplish this?

  • Connecting to a WSE 3.0 Web Service From a WCF Client

    I'm having difficulty connecting to a 3rd party WSE 3.0 web service from a WCF client. I have implemented the custom binding class as indicated in this KB article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms734745.aspx The problem seems to have to do with the security assertion used by the web service - UsernameOverTransport. When I attempt to call a method, I get the following exception: System.InvalidOperationException: The 'WseHttpBinding'.'[namespace]' binding for the 'MyWebServiceSoap'.'[namespace]' contract is configured with an authentication mode that requires transport level integrity and confidentiality. However the transport cannot provide integrity and confidentiality.. It is expecting a username, password, and CN number. In the example code supplied to us by the vendor, these credentials are bundled in a Microsoft.Web.Services3.Security.Tokens.UsernameToken. Here's the example supplied by the vendor: MyWebServiceWse proxy = new MyWebServiceWse(); UsernameToken token = new UsernameToken("Username", "password", PasswordOption.SendPlainText); token.Id = "<supplied CN Number>"; proxy.SetClientCredential(token); proxy.SetPolicy(new Policy(new UsernameOverTransportAssertion(), new RequireActionHeaderAssertion())); MyObject mo = proxy.MyMethod(); This works fine from a 2.0 app w/ WSE 3.0 installed.     I'm having an issue getting Appstats to work correctly. Using /appstats or /appstats/stats ends up in an infinite loop that keeps redirecting back to /appstats/stats. This results in a 404 error saying the page isn't redirecting properly. Any idea what the issue is? Here are the relevant lines in my appengine-web.xml.     Normally when I have a private field inside a class or a struct, I use camelCasing, so it would be obvious that it's indeed private when you see the name of it, but in some of my colleagues' C# code, I see that they use m_ mostly or sometimes _, like there is some sort of convention. Aren't .NET naming conventions prevent you from using underscores for member names? And when you mention the MS naming conventions or what not, they tell you it's the best way, but don't explain the reasoning behind it.

    I have an old Paradox database (I can convert it to Access 2007) which contains more then 200,000 records. This database has two columns: the first one is named "Word" and the second one is named "Mean". It is a dictionary database and my client wants to convert this old database to ASP.NET and SQL. However, we don't know what key or method is used to encrypt or encode the "Mean" column which is in the Unicode format. The software itself has been written in Delphi 7 and we don't have the source code. My client only knows the credentials for logging in to database. The problem is decoding the Mean column. What I do have is the compiled windows application and the Paradox database. This software can decode the "Mean" column for each "Word" so the method and/or key is in its own compiled code(.exe) or one of the files in its directory. For example, we know that in the following row the "Zymurgy" exactly means "???? ??? ????? ?? ???? ????, ????? ?????" since the application translates it like that. Here is what the record looks like when I open the database in Access: Word Mean Zymurgy 5OBnGguKPdDAd7L2lnvd9Lnf1mdd2zDBQRxngsCuirK5h91sVmy0kpRcue/+ql9ORmP99Mn/QZ4= Therefore we're trying to discover how the value in the Mean column is converted to "???? ??? ????? ?? ???? ????, ????? ?????". I think the "Mean" column value in above row is encoded in Base64 string format, but decoding the Base64 string does not yet result in the expected text. The extensions for files in the win app directory are dll, CCC, DAT, exe (other than the main app file), SYS, FAM, MB, PX, TV, VAL. Any kind of help is appreciated. Additional information: guys! the creators are not that stupid to save the values only in encoded form. they're definitely encrypted them. so i guess we have to look for the key.

  • How to iterate over all the page breaks in an Excel 2003 worksheet via COM

    I've been trying to retrieve the locations of all the page breaks on a given Excel 2003 worksheet over COM. Here's an example of the kind of thing I'm trying to do: Excel::HPageBreaksPtr pHPageBreaks = pSheet->GetHPageBreaks(); long count = pHPageBreaks->Count; for (long i=0; i < count; ++i) { Excel::HPageBreakPtr pHPageBreak = pHPageBreaks->GetItem(i+1); Excel::RangePtr pLocation = pHPageBreak->GetLocation(); printf("Page break at row %d\n", pLocation->Row); pLocation.Release(); pHPageBreak.Release(); } pHPageBreaks.Release(); I expect this to print out the row numbers of each of the horizontal page breaks in pSheet. The problem I'm having is that although count correctly indicates the number of page breaks in the worksheet, I can only ever seem to retrieve the first one. On the second run through the loop, calling pHPageBreaks->GetItem(i) throws an exception, with error number 0x8002000b, "invalid index". Attempting to use pHPageBreaks->Get_NewEnum() to get an enumerator to iterate over the collection also fails with the same error, immediately on the call to Get_NewEnum(). I've looked around for a solution, and the closest thing I've found so far is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/210663/en-us. I have tried activating various cells beyond the page breaks, including the cells just beyond the range to be printed, as well as the lower-right cell (IV65536), but it didn't help. If somebody can tell me how to get Excel to return the locations of all of the page breaks in a sheet, that would be awesome! Thank you. @Joel: Yes, I have tried displaying the user interface, and then setting ScreenUpdating to true - it produced the same results. Also, I have since tried combinations of setting pSheet->PrintArea to the entire worksheet and/or calling pSheet->ResetAllPageBreaks() before my call to get the HPageBreaks collection, which didn't help either. @Joel: I've used pSheet->UsedRange to determine the row to scroll past, and Excel does scroll past all the horizontal breaks, but I'm still having the same issue when I try to access the second one. Unfortunately, switching to Excel 2007 did not help either.

My current connection string is connectionString="msxml://c:/azman.xml" but I really need to make that relative so other developers and automated builds can get the latest authorization store. MS documentation seems to suggest that connectionString="msxml://azman.xml" should work but that throws a The request is not supported error. EDIT: I realised that the fact I'm using AzMan through the Enterprise Library Security Application Block was important to the question.

    My MSBuild command line is as follows: msbuild e:\code\myProject.csproj /p:Configuration=Debug /p:OutputPath=bin/Debug /p:Platform=x86 /p:PlatformTarget=x86 The project builds fine on my development machine in VS2010 but not with the command above. I am running Win 7 64 - Bit. I'm getting an error that says I don't have the Silverlight 4 SDK installed but I do. I"ve read some posts that you have to set the Platform=x86 but to no avail.     Hi, I am having a requirement, where I need to have a pie-chart, i need text around pie-chart , the text should be a hyperlink. Ex: we have 3 three fields A,B,C. A's ratio is 30%, B's ratio is 40%, c's ratio is 30% So pie chart gets divided into 3 parts, outside the graph , we should get the label A(in A's area only), when we point on , tool tip should say "A's ratio is 30 %'. I am working in .Net 3.5, VS 2008, using MS chart control(added explicitly by executing MSChart.exe. Thanks in Advance Ram

    Short version: How can I prevent a spawned Java process in Windows from blocking the spawning process from ending? Long version: I'm trying to spawn a multi-threaded Java program (Selenium RC, not that it should matter) from a program launched from the Windows command line (NAnt's <exec> task, again, not that it should matter). I'm doing it using the Windows "start" command, and the spawned process is started and runs correctly. The spawning process receives control back and finishes (NAnt says "BUILD SUCCEEDED"), but doesn't actually exit to the command line. When the spawned process finally terminates (could be hours later), the command process returns and the command line prompt occurs.
