  Let us say that I have a form to search by multiple tags in wordpress. <input type="checkbox" name="my_tags[]" value="tag1" /> <input type="checkbox" name="my_tags[]" value="tag2" /> I want to make it so that when my plugin sees that my_tags[] is set, it rewrites the request to say mysite.com/?tag=tag1+tag2 I know to use add_query_arg to put in the tag, and to use the query_vars filters to allow my arguments to be sent, but what do i hook into to get the arguments that were sent after the request, but before wp parses the request?

• Can I use WCF NET.TCP Protocol from Silverlight 4 for a public website ?

  Does anyone know if the new NET.TCP feature of Silverlight 4 can be used for public websites ? From what I know, in the Silverlight 4 Beta they announced that WCF NET.TCP can only be used for intranet applications. The reason I am asking this is because I want to recode my Silverlight multiplayer chess game (build with SL 3 Sockets support) based on the new SL 4 WCF TCP communication protocol. My Socket implementation is build from scratch and have big issues with thread safe and few unsolvable bugs from my side. I am sure that SL 4 team did a great job and they simplified all hard part for me, letting us, developers, concentrate more on the game code instead on underlying communication layers.

  We're seeing strange behavior when running two versions of a query on SQL Server 2005: version A: SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = 1234 ORDER BY name ASC version B: DECLARE @Id AS INT; SET @Id = 1234; SELECT otherattributes.* FROM listcontacts JOIN otherattributes ON listcontacts.contactId = otherattributes.contactId WHERE listcontacts.listid = @Id ORDER BY name ASC Both queries return 1000 rows; version A takes on average 15s; version B on average takes 4s. Could anyone help us understand the difference in execution times of these two versions of SQL?   Hi! I leasing a dedi server under Centos5, just recently I ve setup a blog website that grabs feeds from other news websites and presents them on my blog. Some days after I see high server loads that cant be coming just from the cron jobs that I run every now and then to grab feeds from other websites for my blog website. Thats why I m trying to pico some log files in order to have a better look the whole problem. These last days I noticed(from statscounter service) the same IP address visiting my blog website many times per day so I want to find out what us trying to do. I tried looking in all /var/log log files and httpd too but no luck. Is there any other log file I should open or any other procedure to track this IP acivity on server?

• How to see what objects lie in which generation in YourKit?

  I am using YourKit (11.0) to try to profile my j2ee app. The app uses java 6 and running on 64-bit linux (centos). I was told that YourKit possibly tells us which objects exist in which generation (eden, old, etc) at any given point of time. On a side note, I am trying to chase a problem where memory usage keeps increasing until a major collection happens (every 4 hrs) and I am suspicious about few particular objects, so I am interested to know where those objects lie at different times. Fortunately I know lot of memory is being consumed in one particular area of code (so other objects are possibly directly being put into the old gen), but don't exactly know how much of that memory is being put into eden space, how much is being collected by the minor collections, etc. Thanks.

Our prof made us create a static library which i built using debug version. then i made a release version of that static library using /mt as my c runtime now in my test application (release version) I use the same runtime option and add that static library and also ignore the libcmd.lib in the ignore settings for the linker. i resolved most of the problem this is the last part lnk4075 /edit and continue due to /opt:icf specification compositelib.lib (my staticlib) lnk2001 unresolved external symbol _winmain@16. libcmtd.lib these are the last two that i can't seem to figure out.

• Entity Framework 4.0 Unit Testing

  Hi, I've implemented unit testing along the lines of this article with a fake object context and IObjectSet with POCO in EF4. http://blogs.msdn.com/adonet/archive/2009/12/17/test-driven-development-walkthrough-with-the-entity-framework-4-0.aspx But I'm unsure how to implement a couple of methods on my fake object context for testing. I have CreateQuery and ExecuteFunction methods on my object context interface so that I can execute ESQL and Stored Procedures but I cant (easily) implement them in my fake object context. An alternative would be to use a test double of my repository instead of a double of my object context as suggested here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/adonetefx/thread/c4921443-e8a3-4414-92dd-eba1480a07ad/ But this would mean my real repository isnt being tested and would seem to just bypass the issue. Can anyone offer any recommendations?

  I want to create a token generator that generates tokens that cannot be guessed by the user and that are still unique (to be used for password resets and confirmation codes). I often see this code; does it make sense? md5(uniqid(rand(), true)); According to a comment uniqid($prefix, $moreEntopy = true) yields first 8 hex chars = Unixtime, last 5 hex chars = microseconds. I don't know how the $prefix-parameter is handled.. So if you don't set the $moreEntopy flag to true, it gives a predictable outcome. QUESTION: But if we use uniqid with $moreEntopy, what does hashing it with md5 buy us? Is it better than: md5(mt_rand())

  Hello, This question mixes client-side scripting with server-side parsing. In some cases, I'm writing a cookie to the user's browser using the document.cookie property. In other cases, I'm writing the same cookie to the user's browser through the ASP.NET Response object. When I'm writing the HttpCookie on the server-side, I am using the Values collection (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/system.web.httpcookie.values%28v=VS.80%29.aspx) to store key/value pairs in the cookie. I would also like to be able to write key-value pairs to the cookie through JavaScript. How do I create cookies with Key/Value pairs via JavaScript that ASP.NET can parse? Thank you!

• Plugin methods are missing in Firefox 3.6

  Hi, We have a plugin that we use to enable printing and saving from our app. We instantiate it using tag with all needed attributes, and then call Save() or Print() method on the document.embeds[0] object. This used to work perfectly on Firefox 3.5 and earlier, but it no longer works in Firefox 3.6. In 3.6, document.embeds[0].Save is null, that is our custom methods are not defined on this object. Any idea why this happens, and what has changed in Firefox 3.6 that causes it? Any idea on how to debug it and find the cause?   After adding "RelayCommand" class (that uses CommandManager class) into my Silverlight App I've got an error: The name 'CommandManager' does not exist in the current context This class is a member of System.Windows.Input namespace that is in PresentationCore.dll assembly. The problem is that I can't add this dll into my app... I am having a strange assumption: this class (CommmandManager) can't be used in the Silverlight. Am I right?   Developing in .NET 3.5. Recently my well-worn link to the .NET Framework 3.5 Class Library documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229335.aspx) started taking me to the .NET 4.0 docs. This is a bit of a nuisance, because I'm not interested in .NET 4.0 (yet)--the project I'm working on is in 3.5. Previous versions of the .NET Class Library docs provided links to older versions; these don't appear to be present any more in 4.0 docs. And I can't seem to locate the 3.5 docs anywhere on MSDN. Does anyone know where these are located. Or (better) where I can download a static copy of the Class Library docs (something conveniently available with Java API javadocs) that Microsoft can't hide? • Monitoring .NET ASP.NET Applications

  I have a number of applications running on top of ASP.NET I want to monitor. The main things I care about are: Exceptions: We currently some custom code which will email us when an exception occurs. If the application is failing hard it will crash our outlook... I know (and use) elmah which partly solves the problem however it is still just a big table of exceptions with a pretty(ish) UI. I want something that makes sense of all of these exceptions (e.g. groups exceptions, alerts when new ones occur, tells me what the common ones are that I should fix, etc) Logging: We currently log to files which are then accessible via a shared folder which dev's grep & tail. Does anyone know of better ways of presenting this information. In an ideal world I want to associate it with exceptions. Performance: Request times, memory usage, cpu, etc. whatever stats I can get I'm guessing this is probably going to be solved by a number of tools, has anyone got any suggestions?

  Hi all As we know for UDP receive, we use Socket.ReceiveFrom or UdpClient.receive Socket.ReceiveFrom accept a byte array from you to put the udp data in. UdpClient.receive returns directly a byte array where the data is My question is that How to set the buffer size inside Socket. I think the OS maintains its own buffer for receive UDP data, right? for e.g., if a udp packet is sent to my machine, the OS will put it to a buffer and wait us to Socket.ReceiveFrom or UdpClient.receive, right? How can I change the size of that internal buffer? I have tried Socket.ReceiveBuffSize, it has no effect at all for UDP, and it clearly said that it is for TCP window. Also I have done a lot of experiments which proves Socket.ReceiveBufferSize is NOT for UDP. Can anyone share some insights for UDP internal buffer??? Thanks

• Memcachedb Versus MongoDB Versus CouchDB in terms of file based caching solution?

  We need a caching solution that essentially caches data (text files) anywhere from 3 days up to a week based on user preferences and criteria. In this case memory based caching does not make sense to us. We were referred to MemcacheDB however I also thought of some NO SQL solutions. Our current application uses RDMS (MYSQL) and I guess it makes sense to use MemcacheDB however NOSQL does appeal as it is something more on the horizon. However we have not deployed a production level application under NOSQL and the beta stuff does not settle well with management/investors. Any how what are your thoughts and how would you address it?   I have a data view webpart of some other list on my Dispform.aspx page. I have added edit and create new links in it. Create new item link is workin fine but when I m clicking on edit, its showing me error: No item exist at http:....listname/Dispform.aspx?ID=1&Source=http://...listname/Allitems.aspx. It may have been deleted or renamed by other user. I found this post related to it. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointcustomization/thread/e368d7c7-8878-4f74-a62b-9ebad50c6b9a But now in my case the problem is I don't wanna customize Allitems.aspx, and what I have understood in the above post guys have suggested that to change the query string.I can only customize DispForm.aspx. Now the query string which is passing by default is ID=@ID from Allitems.aspx to DispForm.aspx...and I have to use this ID query string variable in my parameter if I m passing it on to the next page. • Icons: How does a developer with no design skill make his/her application icons look pretty?

  I probably spend far too much time trying to make my visual interfaces look good, and while I'm pretty adept at finding the right match between usability and style one area I am hopeless at is making nice looking icons. How do you people overcome this (I'm sure common) problem? I'm thinking of things like images on buttons and perhaps most important of all, the actual application icon. Do you rely on third party designers, in or out of house? Or do you know of some hidden website that offers lots of icons for us to use? I've tried Google but I seem to find either expensive packages that are very specific, millions of Star Trek icons or icons that look abysmal at 16x16 which is my preferred size on in-application buttons. Any help/advice appreciated.

I am having some trouble being able to have an iterator go through the list and when the iterator reach, let us say every 5th object, it should insert a '\n' right there. The problem I'm having is when and how to apply this. There are three potitional spots in my opinion. When the serial port object is define: private SerialPort comport = new SerialPort(); The Event handler: comport.DataReceived += new SerialDataReceivedEventHandler(port_DataReceived); Or when reading the data: string data = comport.ReadExisting(); No matter where I add it. I seem to get errors. How would one use Encoding?
