  • What's the UITableView index magnifying glass character?

    - by David Grant
In Apple's iPhone apps (like Contacts), they have a nice magnifying glass icon at the top of the table view index. Since the table view index API is character-based, I assume that this magnifying glass is a Unicode character. So far I've resorted to placing a question mark character there, but that looks lame. Can anyone tell me what character the magnifying glass is?

  • Async Call To Services

    - by Pita.O
Hi Is there any time it would not be a good idea to call web services async? My data layer is a REST-based interface and I thinking of adopting an async-only approach to all the CRUD in the system. Is there anything I should know?

  • Java: Moving Away from XML Encode

    - by bguiz
Hi, We have this software which loads various bits of data from files that are written using XMLEncode (serialization using XML). We want to migrate from that to our own proprietary file format (can be XML based). Is there a automated way to achieve this initial conversion, without having to perform a deserialization, and then write those objects out in the new format? XMLEncode format --> New proprietary file format Thanks!

  • Is there any decent OpenGL SceneGraph API/framework?

    - by JohnIdol
I am new to OpenGL. Wondering if there is any good Scenegraph API/framework for OpenGL. At the moment I am using glut with a custom node based solution: I am setting children and siblings for each node the calling a traverse function. I'd like a more flexible solution when it comes to managing dynamic elements in the scene.

  • How to cache method results in .Net

    - by SP
Using webmethods, caching the results is pretty straight forward using "CacheDuration" attribute. Is there a similar "easy" way to cache non-webmethod outputs (or static methods) based on the parameters? I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

  • Regex on memcached key?

    - by Mickey Cheong
Hi, Is it possible to grab a list of memcached key based on some regex? I understand that one solution is to store the key in the database and grab the list when I need to delete those keys. This means that, it is going to incur additional cost to the db. I was wondering if there is another way to do it without DB overhead. Cheers, Mickey

  • Java 2D Drawing Framework

    - by Yan Cheng CHEOK
Currently, I am using JHotDraw https://sourceforge.net/projects/jhotdraw/ as Figures Drawing Framework in my application. JHotDraw is a two-dimensional graphics framework for structured drawing editors that is written in Java. It is based on Erich Gamma's JHotDraw, which is copyright 1996, 1997 by IFA Informatik and Erich Gamma. I was wondering, besides JHotDraw, do you try out any Java 2D Drawing Framework, which is worth a try?

  • Mysql locale session variable ?

    - by Maxim Veksler
Hunting internationalization bugs here. Does mysql has a variable which can be set per session, meaning the each connection will know the timezone of it's client and will act upon that. If such variable does exists I would expect sql statements such as the following will return diffect values, based on connection session locale. select date('2010-04-14') + 0; Thank you, Maxim.

Then id like to show/hide that div based on if it has any labels in it that were auto generated by the jquery validation plugin. I can do everything but figure out how to extend the event, run the stuff i need to, then call the validate function. Thanks!

  • cache memory performance

Hello, i just have a general question about cache memory. How would a program perform badly on a cache based system ? , since cache memory stores adresses from main memory that is requested, aswell as adresses that ranges around the same adress as the one copied from the main memory.

  • Could MacRuby / HotCocoa supplant the need to know Objective-C?

    - by frou
I just discovered MacRuby / HotCocoa and really like the sound of what they're doing. I had essentially discounted the prospect of making Cocoa GUI applications myself because I have an aversion to spending time & effort learning yet another C-based language, Objective-C. I'm not saying it's bad, just not for me. Is it the case now, or in the probable future, that one will be able to make Cocoa GUI applications of substantial and first-class nature with MacRuby / HotCocoa alone while ignoring Objective-C completely?

  • Highcharts Area graph, use 2 fill colors above / below X axis

    - by Kris Chant
In Highcharts, I'd like to fill an Area graph with 2 colors, positive values get one color, negative values get another color. I've been able to do this with a linearGradient, but this must be adjusted based upon the size of the container. Is there a more general way of doing this, e.g. setting values 0 color 1, values < 0 color 2? See my JSFiddle for more information and an example: http://jsfiddle.net/GNvur/2/

  • Converting Straight Quotes to Curly Quotes

    - by BlueVoid
I have an application which uses a javascript based rules engine. I need a way to convert regular straight quotes into curl (or smart) quotes. It'd be easy to just do a string.replace for ["], only this will only insert one case of the curly quote. The best way I could think of was replace the first occurrence of a quote with a left curly quote and every other one following with a left, and the rest right curly. Is there a way to accomplish this using javascript?

Hey all... I've been playing around with the iPad SDK looking for ways to improve my current iPhone app. I've got a couple place where I think the new "SplitView" would look pretty good. My question is if it's possible to navigate to a "SplitView" with my current navigation based application? Mainly I'm not sure how to push that SplitViewController onto my current stack of views. Any thoughts?

  • How to setup an Eclipse Project with multiple Subprojects (OSGi-Bundles)

    - by stacker
Sherlog is an OSGi-based log analyzer, if I import this project as an workspace snapshot I receive lot's of projects in my workspace, but I would prefere to have them as subprojects in a project. The other option would be to checkout from svn, but then I face other problems (I don't know how to setup the dependencies for automatically build) Does anyone have an idea or good links on this topic? Thanks
