• Need help with some mod_rewrite on lighttpd

  Hello, I recently couldn't configure my mod_rewrite where I'm using Wordpress and MyBB. And now I need Your help, because I couldn't deal with it... Here is the code: The problem is with third, fifth and sixth line. On the third, it couldn't display comments (error 404). On fifth, forum categories are not working. Finally on sixth, post aren't working. I appreciate, any help. Thanks! EDIT: You're saying the truth. What I want, is for example: From link: example.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=71 to example.com/forum/post// <= only id is important here, post name is only for seo Same thing with 'dzial'. And Wordpress From: example.com/portal/comment-page-#comment-1995 <= name, id and number of page is important here. Any ideas, how to deal with it?

• DIY Internet Radio Maintains Controls and Interface of Vintage Case

  Updating an old radio for modern inputs/streaming audio isn’t a new trick but this DIY mod stands out by maintaining the original controls and interface style. Rather than replace the needle-style selector window with a modern text-readout or cover-flow style interface, modder Florian Amrhein opted to replace the old rectangular station selector with an LCD screen that emulates the same red-needle layout. Using the same knob that previously moved the needle on the analog interface, you can slide the digital selector back and forth to select Internet radio stations.   Hard to believe it’s been so long, but it was almost 4 years ago when I published Join the Dark Side of Visual Studio . That was when a lot of people were still using VS2003, and importing and exporting environment settings required a custom add-in, VSStyler, which has since fallen off the planet and is hard to find (link, anyone? • How does Ubuntu One sync two machines with identical file content?

  I have a notebook and a desktop computer, both running Ubuntu 11.10. I used to sync between the two with the help of Unison, so both computers have identical content in the Documents folder. I decided to try UbuntuOne. My question is, if I activate UbuntuOne for the two machines for the folders with identical contents, will UbuntuOne be able to recognise that, or will it sync to the cloud everything twice (and then down on the other machine). To put it another way, will I end up having two copies of everything on the machines and on the cloud, and therefore should delete the identical files on one of the machines before activating UbuntuOne, or not. Thank you, and if there is already something on the net about this, I'd be glad if somebody posted the link here.

  Are pesticides really the link?  Or is it hereditary?  Pesticides in kids linked to ADHD http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37156010/ns/health-kids_and_parenting/ You’ve got to think this one through.  If the parents already have ADHD, and they buy fruits, don’t have the “patience” to wash the fruit, and the kids end up with larger detectible amounts of pesticides in their bodies – are the pesticides really the cause or is it hereditary? I say, switch the kids around for the real test – sure, let the kids go live at a parent’s house w/ out ADHD for 10 years [clearly I’m kidding] who then consciously chooses NOT to wash the fruit. I read this story and all I could think was that the parents already have ADHD and they end up not washing these fruits and vegetables

• VirtualBox host: Ubuntu vs. Windows XP

  In order to lengthen the lifespan of my machine I am replacing the weakest link, the hard drive and installing a new OS. I had planned on using xp pro as my virtualbox host and ubuntu as guest. After messing with ubuntu desktop and server I am really impressed and am thinking of reversing the virtualbox setup; ubuntu host xp guest. I would use XP for Adobe Fireworks, Netflix, and iTunes (maybe) that's pretty much it. Any reason not to do ubuntu host with xp guest? I know the xp vbox will run slower as a guest but really how much slower? It's a desktop. 4gb ram, 500gb disk, Pent D 3.2 ghz

• That pestky Intel Centrino wireless N + WiMAX 6150 wireless card

  I'm new to linix and just got Ubuntu up and running on my ASUS laptop last night. Aside from the wireless everything seems to be working. The card is able to recognize networks but cannot make a full connection. After I enter my password it will try to connect before asking for the password again after a few minutes. I know the issue isn't the password because I checked that I had the right one. I've done some poking around trying to find a way to get it work. Linix recognizes the card as well. I found a link to some drivers in a question someone had about a WiMAX 6250 card and am curious if anyone knows if they would also work for the 6150 I have in my machine: https://github.com/ago/wimax-tools If not what can I do?

• Ubuntu suddenly won't boot on a Mac

  I installed 11.10 in dual-boot mode following instructions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MactelSupportTeam/AppleIntelInstallation Everything worked fine, until I recently updated from Mac OS 10.6.x to the latest 10.6.x (this was a minor update prompted by OS X). The update made the rEFIt screen disappear, so I ran Boot Repair and reinstalled rEFIt and everything worked. I accidentally left my computer without power while booted into Ubuntu, until it presumably died or hibernated itself. I have been unable to boot into Ubuntu since. I didn't see the GRUB screen when I selected Linux the rEFIt chooser. Then I reinstalled rEFIt and the Linux option disappeared from the rEFIt chooser. This is a link to the boot info collected by Boot Repair: http://paste.ubuntu.com/755543/ Any help would be appreciated, especially an explanation of what all these components are (EFI, MBR, GPT, GRUB), where they live on disk, how the system knows to find each component, and how they relate to each other. • Using rel=canonical and noindex in a 1-n partners enviroment

  We sell a whole site (domain, etc) to partners that create content that is shown together at the main site. What we want to achieve is that the main site copy is the original, but the one that is indexed is the partners copy. We want to do it this way so the search results point to the partner sites but never to the main site while the main site gets all the credit for the links. We are trying setting the main site article with a noindex, follow and a link to the partner article, and in the partner article we have a rel=canonical pointing to the main site article. Are we correct or the noindex at the main site will break the canonical reference?

In case you are in the same boat, I thought I'd gather some essential reading material for you (also gives me one link to use in the future for referring people to ;-) Lambdas are available (in some shape or form) in all modern languages, so do yourself a favor and learn about them: Lambda Expressions in C++ (and also syntax and examples) Watch Herb Sutter's full length session on lambdas at PDC 2010 Templates, have been around in modern languages for even longer than lambdas (e.g. Generics in .NET), so again go dive in: Templates topic with full table of contents linking to subtopics In fact, why don't you refresh your knowledge and read the entire msdn C++ Language Reference – that's what I am doing! • Cool a Computer with Toilet Water

  When most people opt to use water cooling they put together tidy coolant reservoirs complete with ambient lighting and the like. This build involves a hole in the wall and the tank of a functioning toilet. The design, courtesy of Jeff Gagnon, is unconventional, but effective. Opposite of his wall-mounted PC is a bathroom. In that bathroom he has a coolant pump in the tank of the toilet. Using the toilet tank as a thermal sink he keeps the CPU at a nice chilly 66F. • Creating natural environments that can run on lower end computers in Unity3D/C#

  So, I'm starting work on a project soon that will require me to create realistic environments that can preferably run on PC's besides high quality ones. The goal is to get as real an environment as possible while still being easy(ish) to run. The only problem is I've NEVER done anything with 3D environments, making trees sway, grass move, lighting, etc. Can anyone give me any help? Perhaps describe how it's done? Link me to articles? I'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction, not for you to write the code for me. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, I'm using Unity3D and C# as my language. Thanks, Tim.

• What are the main programmers web sites in other countries?

  Looking at the demographics of sites like this one, there seems to be a very heavy US weighing of users. I know there have been discussions about using English as a programmer, but the are some large countries with large programmer bases that must be using localized sites. Countries like Brazil and China, in particular, what sites do programmers go for discussions? Do a lot of the threads link up to English speaking sites like these? In France they obviously prefer their own language, what do the equivalent sites look like? I don't want to turn this into an English language speaking discussion like this one, it's more a general trans-cultural programming curiosity.

  I've already known some HTML, tables, link, image,...etc but just at a basic level. Now I want to learn how to build a layout for a website and design also. I want to start building a layout right a way and just learning from it, not really like reading so much theories, explanations. Many books are so verbose, they teach from the beginning of HTML or explain things too much. I don't want to waste my time. So are there any good books for me?
