  • What is a better way to convert a simple sinatra app to static html pages?

    - by dimus
A friend of mine asked to create a static website and I found that making such site using Sinatra is a pure joy. I just wrote all my routes like this: get '/index.html' do haml :index end get '/app.css' do sass :app end .... So I was able to use layouts, and haml and sass to put site together quickly. To create the static site I used wget -r -l2 http://localhost:4567 Which did work pretty well, but I imagine there is a better way to create a static site from a Sinatra code?

  • Partial form with nested routes

    - by jerhinesmith
I have two models -- User and Entry -- that are related through a has_many relationship (a User has many Entries). I'm using RESTful routing, and have the following in my routes.rb file: map.resource :user, :controller => "users" do |user| user.resources :entries end This seems to work, but in my partial _form file, when I do this: form_for [@current_user, @entry] do |f| # Form stuff end It generates a URL like this: /user/entries.%23%3Cuser:0xb6a6aea8%3E instead of /user/entries Am I missing something? I should note that the correct classes are applied to the form when doing creation vs. editing, so it does seem to be correctly interpreting what I'm trying to do -- it's just that I can't submit the form to an invalid url.

  • has_one | nested attributes -

    - by user283179
How would I show one of many nested objects in the index view class Album < ActiveRecord::Base has_many: photos accepts_nested_attributes_for :photos, :reject_if => proc { |a| a.all? { |k, v| v.blank?} } has_one: cover accepts_nested_attributes_for :cover end class Album Controller < ApplicationController layout "mini" def index @albums = Album.find(:all, :include => [:cover,]).reverse respond_to do |format| format.html # index.html.erb format.xml { render :xml => @albums } end end This is what I have so fare. I just want to show a cover for each album. Any info on this would be a massive help!!

  • collection_select not working as expected

    - by kgb
First time I've come to use collection_select in a project and I've hit a wall with it. A Profile has_one Team, Team has_many Profile. In my view for editing profiles I have this. <td><%= f.collection_select(:team_id, @team, :id, :title) %></td> Which populates the drop down with titles of teams as expected. The couple of examples I have read seem to use it in a very similar way. I can't figure out when the profile is saved why it isn't populating the team_id field in my DB. In the development log the team_id is being passed. Processing ProfilesController#update (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-03-28 22:49:16) [PUT] Parameters: {"commit"=>"Update", "profile"=>{"dob(1i)"=>"2010", "second_name"=>"", "dob(2i)"=>"3", "role"=>"", "dob(3i)"=>"28", "project"=>"", "specialties"=>"", "about"=>"", "team_id"=>"1", "status"=>"", "first_name"=>""}, "authenticity_token"=>"sdTiFPGj9JCO3OEge5EGNGxZbQSsq9ME5LP342EBjyc=", "id"=>"3"} The update controller is the standard scaffold one, this has worked fine for all other additions to the profile model I'd made previously. Am I missing something obvious?

  • Imagemagick Resizing in Paperclip

    - by jonathan.soeder
So, I want to resize images to a FIXED width, but proportional height. I have been trying a wide range of operators: 380x242# 380x242 380!x242 380x242< none of them have the desired effect. Any help? I want it to fill or resize to the 380 width, then resize / shrink the height by the same factor it used to shrink or resize the image to 380 wide.

  • How to make a control invisible?

    - by Nakilon
    I've made several TextCtrls and Button, but currently users of my application don't want to see them. So I have to hide them temporary (for current build). Here they are: class MainFrame < Wx::Frame def initialize (parent = nil) super nil,:title=>"sometitle",:size=>[600,600] set_sizer Wx::BoxSizer.new Wx::VERTICAL @tag1 = Wx::TextCtrl.new self sizer.add_item @tag1,:flag=>Wx::RIGHT|Wx::EXPAND @tag1.set_value 'property' @tag1title = Wx::TextCtrl.new self sizer.add_item @tag1title,:flag=>Wx::RIGHT|Wx::EXPAND @tag1title.set_value 'title' @tag2 = Wx::TextCtrl.new self sizer.add_item @tag2,:flag=>Wx::RIGHT|Wx::EXPAND @tag2.set_value 'description' @tag2title = Wx::TextCtrl.new self sizer.add_item @tag2title,:flag=>Wx::RIGHT|Wx::EXPAND @tag2title.set_value '' @button_parse = Wx::Button.new self sizer.add_item @button_parse @button_parse.label = "Parse XML" evt_button @button_parse, :click_parse # ...... end # ...... end I see nothing about it in docs and Google is also not a friend for me today.

  • REXML Formatting issues

    - by dagda1
Hi, I am using REXML to edit an xml file but have ran into difficulties with formatting. My original code looked like this: file = File.new( destination) doc = REXML::Document.new file doc.elements.each("configuration/continuity2") do |element| element.attributes["islive"] = "true" element.attributes["pagetitle"] = "#{@client.page_title}" element.attributes["clientname"] = "#{@client.name}" end doc.elements.each("configuration/continuity2/plans") do |element| element.attributes["storebasedir"] = "#{@client.store_dir}" end I first of all had to add the following code as REXML was adding single quotes instead of double quotes. I found the following via google: REXML::Attribute.class_eval( %q^ def to_string %Q[#@expanded_name="#{to_s().gsub(/"/, '&quot;')}"] end ^ ) I also have a problem in that REXML is reformatting the document. are there ways to stop this? Cheers Paul

    - by maps
    I am using the rvideo gem to transcode files to a .flv format. class Video < ActiveRecord::Base include AASM aasm_column :status aasm_initial_state :initial aasm_state :initial aasm_state :converting, :exit => :transcode aasm_state :transfering , :exit => :send_s3 aasm_state :completed aasm_state :failed aasm_event :convert do transitions :from => [:initial], :to => :converting end aasm_event :transfer do transitions :from => [:converting], :to => :transfering end aasm_event :complete do transitions :from => [:transfering], :to => :completed end aasm_event :error do transitions :from => [:initial, :converting, :transfering, :completed] end has_attached_file :asset, :path => "uploads/:attachment/:id.:basename.:extension" def flash_path return self.asset.path + '.flv' end def flash_name return File::basename(self.asset.path)# + '.flv' end def flash_url return "#{AWS_HOST}/#{AWS_BUCKET}/#{self.flash_name}" end # transcode file def transcode begin RVideo::Transcoder.logger = logger file = RVideo::Inspector.new(:file => self.asset.path) command = "ffmpeg -i $input_file$ -y -s $resolution$ -ar 44100 -b 64k -r 15 -sameq $output_file$" options = { :input_file => "#{RAILS_ROOT}/#{self.asset.path}", :output_file => "#{RAILS_ROOT}/#{self.flash_path}", :resolution => "320x200" } transcoder = RVideo::Transcoder.new transcoder.execute(command, options) rescue RVideo::TranscoderError => e logger.error "Encountered error transcoding #{self.asset.path}" logger.error e.message end end The input file is added to the asset directory, but I never get an outputted file. On the view page aasm hangs on "converting".

  • mongrel_rails start command not found

    - by sean
On my server I am unable to run mongrel_rails start. I looked in /usr/bin/ and could not locate the mongrel_rails file. Instead I found it in /var/lib/gems/1.8/bin. The file includes #!/usr/bin/ruby1.8, but I am still not getting this to work.

  • Spree customize/extend user roles and permissions

    - by swapnil
I am trying to specify some custom roles in Spree for example role 'client' and extend the permissions to access the admin section for this role. This user will be able to access only those Product created by that user. Concept is letting a user with role 'client' manage only products and other certain Models. To start with I added CanCan plugin and defined a RoleAbility Class in role_ability.rb Just following this post : Spree Custom Roles Permissions class RoleAbility include CanCan::Ability def initialize(user) user ||= User.new if user.has_role? 'admin' can :manage, :all elsif user.has_role? 'client_admin' can :read, Product can :admin, Product end end end Added this to an initializer : config/initializers/spree.rb Ability.register_ability(RetailerAbility) Also extended admin_products_controller_decorator.rb :app/controllersadmin_products_controller_decorator.rb Admin::ProductsController.class_eval do def authorize_admin authorize! :admin, Product authorize! params[:action].to_sym, Product end end But I am getting flash message 'Authorisation Failure' Trying to find some luck, I referred following links A github gist for Customizing Spree Roles : https://gist.github.com/1277326 Here's a similar issue what I am facing : http://groups.google.com/group/spree-user/browse_thread/thread/1e819e10410d03c5/23b269e09c7ed47e All efforts in vain... Any pointers of what is going on here highly appreciated ? Thanks in advance.

  • @user.posts.where('status = ?', :unfinished).all returns []

    - by Cheng
By @user.posts, I can see there is a post with :unfinished status. But @user.posts.where('status = ?', :unfinished).all returns an empty array. I've tried to invoke @user.reload first, but it doesn't resolve the problem. • Carrierwave upload to a tmp dir before saving to database

    - by user827570
I'm trying to build a visual editor where users can click an image they are presented with an image upload form once the upload is done I use ajax to return the image and insert it back into the page. But the above method inserts the image straight into the database but I want users to be able to visualize the image before the image is inserted into the database. So I was wondering if the image using carrierwave could be uploaded to a temp location, sent back to the user and then when the user saves the page the image is moved into the permanent location. Here's what I have so far. def edit_image @page = Page.find(1) @page.update_attributes(params[:page]) @page.save return :text => @page.file end But this is what I want to achieve def temp_image #uploads received image to a temp location #returns image to the user end And once the user clicks save def save #moves the file in the temp folder to the permanent location end Cheers

  • Active record taking Date.today as yesterday

    - by Mongus Pong
I have a strange one.. I am doing something like : tip = find (:first, :conditions => ["last_shown = ? or last_shown is null", Date.today]) And then a little later on I do : tip.last_shown = Date.today tip.save When I look at output of these queries, ActiveRecord is doing the first query with todays date as I would expect. However, the send query, ActiveRecord is setting the last_shown date to be yesterdays date. Why on earth would it do this? I have config.time_zone = 'UTC' in my environment.rb. I can use Time.now.utc.to_date instead of Date.today but it makes no difference.

  • HAML-like syntax for non-HTML documents?

    - by Peter
I love using HAML for HTML documents. It has clean syntax that's much more attractive than ERB. It works perfectly for HTML documents. What about for non-HTML? Such as, for example, an email or text document with certain automatically-substituted components? I've been falling back to ERB, but don't like the heavy syntax compared to HAML. Is there any way to use HAML for ordinary documents without having divs and html elements appear when % and . start a line? Or is there some alternative to both HAML and ERB that I should investigate?

  • How do I add Polylines in gmaps4rails v2

    - by LaraF
I upgraded to the latest version of gmaps4rails (v2) and am having some issues getting polylines drawing. I can get markers working with the sample code on the wiki, but if I change the addMarkers to addPolylines, nothing renders in the map. Here's the handler code: handler = Gmaps.build('Google'); handler.buildMap({ provider: {}, internal: {id: 'map'}}, function(){ polylines = handler.addPolylines([{"lat":45.678295,"lng":-121.603813,"ele":438.626221,"time":1381851321},{"lat":45.678196,"lng":-121.603607,"ele":423.202148,"time":1381851363},{"lat":45.678181,"lng":-121.603607,"ele":421.108398,"time":1381851373},{"lat":45.678162,"lng":-121.603584,"ele":420.153442,"time":1381851383},{"lat":45.678123,"lng":-121.603569,"ele":422.561096,"time":1381851393},{"lat":45.678165,"lng":-121.6036,"ele":425.191284,"time":1381851403},{"lat":45.678169,"lng":-121.603607,"ele":425.262329,"time":1381851413}]); handler.bounds.extendWith(polylines); handler.fitMapToBounds(); }); No errors in the javascript console, just no map rendering. Any thoughts?

  • Can I combine atom feeds from separate resources into one?

    - by stephemurdoch
I have two resources for which I would like to generate feeds; they are called podcasts and posts. The problem is that when I include the auto_discovery_link in my templates, I have to add one for each of the two atom feeds that I've generated. The reason why this is a problem is that there are now two feeds for users to choose from, and most people probably won't realise that they need both so will only pick one. Is there a way to combine atom feeds from different resources into one atom feed? Like application.atom or something? I'm using builder to generate the feed.

  • Using twitter gem to signup and authenticate users

    - by Jim Jones
Hi, I'd like to allow users the option to register using their Twitter account. Basically, I'll present them with a standard signup form (name, login, email, pwd, pwd_confirm) as well as a "Signup with Twitter" link. If a user chooses to signup with Twitter creds, then I'll create a user record in db. Then I'd like to be able to allow a user to authenticate using their Twitter creds on returning visits. Also, I'm using restful_authentication, so I need to have this work within that context. What is the best way to do this? I haven't been to find any tutorials on allowing the signup and authentication pieces. Most examples just show how to authenticate a Twitter user into your app. Thanks.
