    Say I need to make searching for related titles just like stackoverflow does before you add your question or digg.com before submitting news. I didn't find a way how to do this with Zend Lucene. There are setSlop method for queries, but as I understand, it doesn't help. Is there any way to do this kind of searches?

  • What is your favorite pastime to engage in while your project is buidling?

    As my average project grows in size the sum of build times throughout the day (and night) adds up to a substantial amount of time. Some of the things I or others do in this time include: Reading the news Thinking of ways to advance the project Looking at other projects Throwing darts Checking the unanswered list on stackoverflow.com Build times aren't constant making it hard to plan constructive use of them. I would like to hear of a method in use to make beneficial use of those few minutes that can add up to a few hours.

    Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to put GWT application on vkontakte.ru (for the note, it's the most popular social networking site for the russian-speaking audience, 75+ mln subscribers). I know that integration with Facebook is possible, but as long as vkontakte.ru is not a direct Facebook-clone (they use different engines), I'm not sure, the same integration scenario will work for vkontakte.     I rather enjoy adding practical eye-candy to the networking community I've been developing but as things start to stack up I worry about load times. Is it truly faster to have users load (a hopefully cached) copy of jquery from Google's repositories? Does using jQuery for AJAX calls improve/reduce efficiency over basic javascript xmlHTTP requests? Is there a practical way to cut down the number of included scripts? For example, I include jQuery and jQuery UI from google, table sorter, and a growl plug-in.

  • why cant I more than two values from 3 different tables in one query

    This is strange. In the news details page, I want to take a few different values from different tables with one query. However, for some strange reason, I only get two values back. It let users submit links to their favorite books for various programming languages, and write a short blurb about why they're so good. You could include their Amazon page and the website would grab a cover picture. I've since lost that bookmark and am trying to find it again, anyone know what site I'm talking about?   • Setting Quercus db connection encoding to UTF-8 (urgent problem and need your great help)

    Now we are going to use java class in my website developed with PHP + mySQL. I came to know Quercus and it worked well. But only problem is encoding. Quercus is providing ISO8859 encoding in default and all database in UTF-8 is not shown properly like ???. If anybody know the way to set Quercus db connection encoding to UTF-8, please help me. Using Twitter as an example, they have pages labeled twitter.com/about and another page labeled twitter.com/{$username} However, how do you differentiate between say a user who has registers on to our site as "about" then. From this we are going to have a server conflict between the user "about" and the page about. What is the best way to handle this?

    According to this discussion of Google App Engine on Hacker News, A DB (read) request takes over 100ms on the datastore. That's insane and unusable for about 90% of applications. How do you determine what is an acceptable response time for a DB read request? I have been using App Engine without noticing any issues with DB responsiveness. But, on the other hand, I'm not sure I would even know what to look for in that regard :)
