    Mailing lists are great, but they're a fundamentally different beast than email. It seems strange to me to keep mailing lists in my email program (Gmail). Of course I have folders set up to automatically keep them out of my inbox, but if I have hundreds of mailing lists, it gets really out of hand. Is there an application (or web application) that is designed specifically as a mailing list "client"?

  • Wrap app with dynamic libraries into one large static app

    I have an old program that kind of depends on older dynamic libraries. They tend to get upgraded easily with distro's updates. I figured that there would be a script with using ldd that would gather the libs needed and create one bigger, statically linked application that wouldn't break so easily. If I could do this, alot of older KDE libraries could be removed from my system and easen my life. Thanks!

  • How to link processing power of old computers together?

    Hey all, I'm sitting on 8 old computers of varied sorts that are more or less useless at this point for any other purpose really. Is there a way I could link their hardware or processing power or whatever together over wifi and use one as like a central computer?   • Is there a way to programatically set the printer properties in windows ?

    Hello, As a paper saving drive throughout the organization, we plan to set 2 page printing as default setting on all the windows machines. I would like to contribute to this by writing a small script that can do that for all the machines, maybe send an email to all the users, and let them run the batch file.   • How do I full-screen my CMD?

    I work a LOT in the windows command line. Unlike other windows, it doesn't maximize - it just goes a big as it can depending on the buffer size. Is there any way I can get the CMD to act like the PuTTY console, flowing with the resize? NOTE: The answer doesn't have to be a tweak to the CMD.   • c code compiles but is not executed in kubuntu

  • CPU running at full capacity when boot to DOS?

    Does the CPU is run at 100% or near full capacity when the computer is booted into MS-DOS? Will the CPU temperature become higher even though we are not running any program in DOS mode? In Windows, we can see the CPU usage in % of utilization in Task Manager. From what I heard, CPU is running at near 100% capacity in DOS OS or in the BIOS MAIN screen. Is this caused by lack of CPU optimization in DOS OS?

  • How can I record system sounds (apps) in Audacity?

    Or another similar program? All I want to do is record the sounds coming from say firefox, or any other app, for use as samples in music. I need to do this in both windows and linux (ubuntu 9.10). I have looked through the preferences of audacity but didn't find anything that let me select the system sound. Perhaps I overlooked it, because I was able to do this with earlier versions of audacity.

  • Excel 2007 save import steps on csv file?

    I have a csv file that constantly needs opened into Excel and then have the data copied over to a separate workbook. I find the process of having to click through all of the dialogs, setting the text identifier, setting the columns to all be text extremely tedious. In many actions with data like this in regards to MSSQL or Access the program will ask you if you wish to save these steps however Excel doesn't readily ask that. Is there any way to get a comparable usage with Excel?

But when archiving a folder containing already compressed files, there is no need to compress them a second time, such as archives, packed setup program, jpg, movies, mp3,....     my company share internet through two proxy server. without enterning proxy detail in program such as firefox, I don't have any access to internet. each proxy server bandwidth limit is 512kbps. how can i combine two proxy server traffic to get 1mbps bandwidth? client sucsh as proxifier chain both proxy but only use one of them at a time. if one failed to connect, proxifier connect to other proxy in the chain list.

    Hi everyone, Are there any way known to trick an computer with XP to appear to have more RAM? I need to install a specific program (which fits in my system requirements), which is bundled with a number of other programs on an DVD. Unfortunately, the other programs besides the one that I need demand twice the amount of RAM that's available on my computer and the installation is closed due to this.
