    I read somewhere that the Ultimate Boot CD can diagnose computer problems. In this case would this program help me get my Windows XP back? When I turn on the screen and hit "Start Windows Normally" or go to Safe Mode I get a flash of the WinXP logo and then it goes to this error page. Can you tell from this message is it a hardware or software issue?

Stop attempt failed. The system cannot find the file specified. (2147942402, 80070002) Further information : Before beta2, the same computer also had beta1 installed.   • How can I limit Safari's RAM use?

    Safari uses a lot of RAM. Especially when you add Safari's use to WebProcess's use: it comes to about 1.5 GB of memory (for me, anyway). How can I limit the amount of RAM Safari and WebProcess use? I know a similar question was asked last summer, but two of those answers have to do with the program in question (Dropbox) and the other answer encourages use of Terminal, which I find terribly confusing. Are there any other methods?

  • Problem with default File opening programs

    Working on Vista & Window 7, I use Winamp 5.57 for listening to mp3 and VLC player for watching movies. I made those two as my default players for corresponding media respectively. But when I launch winamp for playing mp3, some of the video files( like .flv, etc.,) automatically get changed the file opening mode to winamp player. This happens every time even if I set it back to 'default program'. Can someone please help me out.

    i created a .bat script to perform daily folder compression. it is working fine when i double click the .bat file. However, it doesnt work when i include it in window scheduler. Below is the script: rem **************************** rem ** To create back up file ** rem **************************** "C:\Program Files\WinZip\WINZIP32.EXE" -a -r -p "E:\Backup\Daily\sst.zip" "P:\SST\*.*" When i run it via window scheduler, the status is always "running" but nothing is generated.     I have a file share, and I want a process which enumerates files on that share and automatically creates a 7z self-extracting exe of files over 1 month old. On a different share, I want to create a 7z self-extracting exe of directories that are over 1 month old. Any idea if there is a program which can do this? I already have 7z a -t7z -mx9 -sfx filename.exe filename.txt Portion of it, just need more of the auto-management portion.

Is there some program available that monitors that the networking is working (by pinging some site(s)), and if not tries to fix the error by reseting the modem, reloading the USB drivers and perhaps by dropping the USB port's current (if possible) to force the modem to reset ?

    I have a server, and windows vista, 64-bit, 4gb ram. Sometimes the server randomly drops into the page file, and disconnects everyone who was online. Only after I click the cmd.exe window does it comes back out. How do I mark a program as not eligible for the page file? Something along the lines of: FOR %f IN (C:\files\*.*) DO del "%f - 1" However, that will not work because that would resolve to file with duplicate - 1.xxx - 1

It contains 3 subdirectories. 1st = Program Files, containg zero volume 2nd = Users, containing zero volume 3rd = Windows, containing 693 MB (726.823.197 bytes) on harddrive It all looks a bit useless to me, so question is: Is it safe to delete the lot?
